I was inspired to start lessons from watching the last season of American Idol. I started with a 12 pack of online lessons. I was so nervous to sing out load (even in the privacy of my home) but Melody was always positive and encouraging. Even though I didn't practice as much as I should, to my surprise I've gotten better at hitting notes. It's helped even at work (female engineer) for me to easily speak louder and lower when needed. I've been taking lessongs for over a year now and it's still challenging but I always feel awesome afterwards (just like a great workout!) When I listen to singers now I have a whole level of of appreciation. It's like Melody introduced a new language. She's an awesome singer herself and I aspire to sing like her!

Very impressed with my instructor. I carefully reviewed all the speaking voice teachers on Take Lessons and weighed my options before finally choosing Bill. I'm so glad I picked him, I can't imagine any other teacher would of been nearly as helpful. When he heard I had an interview coming up, he even went above and beyond and did mock interviews with me to help me prepare. I highly recommend him!

Plato once said that “Music is the movement of sound to reach the soul for the education of its virtue.” I believe that music is one of the deepest and most complex art forms. It reaches the depths of our souls and affects our lives in meaningful ways. It is my constant aspiration to inspire students to communicate the deepest longings of their souls through music, something that also requires the development of discipline and clear thinking. I strive to inspire my students to make music a life-long pursuit. While realizing that not all my students will become professional musicians, I do think that learning to play a musical instrument is essential in becoming a well-rounded human being.
Teaching students to play their instruments in such a way that their souls are reflected in the music they perform is no easy task. My job as a teache
r is to identify what Michelangelo called the “rubbish” -- those obstacles that stand in the way of natural and free musical expression -- and devise the most effective and fun ways to bring the “David” within to the forefront.

About Xavier
I am a professional pianist, vocal coach and organist. I am originally from Puerto Rico, were I got my Bachelors in Music Performance with a specialization in piano from the Conservatory of Music in P.R. and have two Masters of Music from Eastern Michigan University, in Piano Perfomance, and The University of Michigan, in Collaborative Piano.

My philosophy has always been to ask the student what he/she wants to accomplish with their piano studies and then come up with a plan to accomplish this. Pair that with my teachings of proper technique and becoming a well rounded musician which includes: sheet music reading, music theory, sight reading, ear training and playing from the heart and you have the perfect formula for success. But the secret ingredient is always the effort that you put in to get better, without that you will not get be
tter.

As a pianist I do a lot of freelance work with singers and instrumentalists. Working with them for their concerts/recitals, competitions and recordings. I work also with middle/high school students as the choir accompanist for the Bowling Green City Schools in Ohio. I perform my organist duties at Olivet Lutheran Church in Sylvania, OH.

I have a small private studio that I teach from home and looking to expand it with online lessons and with you. I look forward to working with you and helping you accomplish your musical goals whether that is in classical or any other genre, I am here for you.
