I have a lot of experience with the Suzuki method as a teacher and also a player having started with that myself. However unless the player or parent specifies that they want strict Suzuki, I go with my method which involves Suzuki but also other methods. I was not strict Suzuki and it definitely worked for me as well as students of mine!

About Erica
My name is Erica and I have been playing violin for 19 years and teaching for 8. I have a violin performance bachelor degree and Suzuki Teacher Certification for books 1-10 from The Cleveland Institute of Music. During my time teaching in the Suzuki program I worked with 15 students at different levels of playing and age groups. I also ran group classes on Saturdays. I completed 100 hours of lesson and group lesson observations. After those four years of undergrad I went on to receive a Master of Music degree at the Juilliard School. I had a private teaching studio in New York with 10 students ages ranging from 5 to 60 years. I Recieved a Graduate Diploma from the New England Conservatory. Currently I am pursuing a doctorate degree at the University of Maryland. I absolutely love teaching and Starting at any age is fantastic!

From good technique to reading music and playing by ear, excellence is the goal.

About Anna
Hi there! I'm Anna, and I'm looking forward to meeting you. I've been offering private piano lessons since 2009 and offer foundations in music theory, technique, sight-reading and classic piano repertoire.

I begin most students in Faber method books, before branching into classical repertoire including selections from Baroque, Classical, Romantic and Contemporary time periods. My teaching style is flexible though, so I'll be happy to adapt to your individual liking and needs.

In 2012 I graduated from Thomas Edison State College with a degree in music and in 2017 I completed my Master's in Education from Post University. Today I enjoy teaching music to students ranging from six years old through adult.

I believe quality practice and motivation are key to success, and I'm looking forward to helping you succeed!

Anna is an extremely knowledgeable and skilled musician, which inspires her students to want to excel themselves! My 7year old son has been taking lessons from Anna for about 2 years. He is excited to go to his lesson each week! Although my son struggles with some dyslexia, Anna is extremely patient with him and makes him feel like he is valuable and capable. She has adjusted the method and curriculum to find something that works well for him. She carefully explains the lessons, makes my son feel so special, and inspires him to want to learn.

Every student is unique and through my teaching I aim to treat each one as the individual they are. I work with students to help them achieve their goals while also giving them technical command of the instrument. The focus of lessons is on achieving mastery through studying the foundational elements (rhythm, intonation, tone production) in order to perform with musical expression and freedom.

About Andrew
Violinist Andrew enjoys a varied career as an educator, performer, and arts advocate. A dedicated teacher, Andrew has worked with students privately and in music schools in South Dakota, Iowa and Ohio. Currently he maintains a private studio. Priviously he has taught at the Hudson and Fairlawn Schools of Music, Firestone High School, and the Western Reserve Institute of Music. His students have achieved a high degree of success, earning college scholarships and assuming leadership roles in their ensembles.

Andrew has performed across the United States and internationally in venues such as Cleveland's Playhouse Square and the Vienna Konzerthaus. Professionally, he performed, for three seasons, in the first violin section of the Sioux City Symphony. He has played with and assumed principle positions with several collegiate ensembles in

I started working with Andrew after an 18 month hiatus and am very pleased. Andrew's teaching style is very adaptable, which for an adult student who works full time, is great. Some weeks I don't have a lot of time to practice and we focus on technique. Other times, we work on music and technique. He is also great about explaining the "how" and the "why" of why musicians should spend time on scales, technique, etc;
I would absolutely recommend Andrew to adult students and younger student.s

Andrew is an extremely knowledgeable and talented teacher. He explains technique exceptionally well, has an impressive understanding of phrasing and musicality while playing, and is very patient and understanding, he has a great sense of humor, while also giving students the right amount of push they need. He has high expectations but they are always attainable for his students, and he is very flexible with each students unique needs. I highly recommend him as an instructor, he is worth every penny and students always see quick and impressive improvement; I know I did while I studied with him.

I am a passionate and skilled violinist and student. I have been playing violin since the age of 7 and continue to study and play at University of Massachusetts Amherst. In the past, I have put together string quartets and have played in a variety of ensembles for different settings; musicals, formal concerts, weddings, etc.... I have 2 years of experience teaching middle school violinists in my hometown.
In terms of teaching approach, I recognize that each student is different from the next, and while I prefer to guide all students through a similar structure, I always make conscious and consistent efforts to evaluate each student's progression to determine what needs the most work.

My violin instruction emphasizes both good basic technique and expression. If you are a beginner, I can teach you the basics of phrasing, bowing, good posture, how to hold the instrument, progressing from simple exercises to more complex pieces. If you are an intermediate student, I will reinforce good technique, while helping you to find your instrument's voice so that you can express yourself and the music you are playing. I can work with you on both music geared to lessons and what you are playing in ensembles.

“I was a violin student of Julie H. for about a year, during which time I was continually impressed by her preparation, her teaching skills, and her patience. She provided me with helpful written materials before my lessons began, coached me carefully about technique, and made learning an enjoyable experience. Besides being an excellent musician herself, Julie also has an extensive knowledge of many musical styles, from classical to jazz, Celtic to old-timey, so that ...

About Julie
I am a professional musician, specializing in traditional American and Irish music and song; I can, however, also teach classical guitar and beginning-intermediate violin. My CD, "American Stranger," has received critical acclaim and I have authored two books on DADGAD guitar for Mel Bay Publications.

I taught myself guitar at the age of thirteen, but took three years of lessons at Washington University, where I also studied English and French. As an adult I became interested in fingerstyle guitar in open tunings, especially DADGAD. I am, however, happy to teach in standard tuning--including basic guitar proficiency, classical guitar, and "folk" guitar.

I have played violin since I was eleven, taking lessons until the age of sixteen and playing in both high school orchestra and the local youth symphony. I later learned to sus
pend much of my classical technique in order to play both old-time and traditional Irish fiddle as authentically as possible; but I still retain my initial training and apply good basic violin technique to my fiddle and (of course) her violin teaching, while tailoring it to the musical idioms of each of students.

I have also studied voice, which again, however, I have never allowed to interfere with my performance of traditional songs--largely because I had developed a traditional approach to the singing of both American southern mountain repertory and traditional Irish song many years before receiving any formal instruction. This training, however, has given me greater insight into how to get the most out of your voice for almost any style.

I also taught myself to play lap dulcimer, basing my approach on the Eastern Kentucky styles associated with Jean Ritchie, Barbara Edwards, and Anne MacFie—that is, primarily using a small dowel stick or noter to sound the melody, and playing counter-melodies for song accompaniments.

My clawhammer banjo-playing is influenced by various Appalachian instrumentalists and accompanists (including Dock Boggs, Clarence Ashley, Hobart Smith, and Lily May Ledford), but my style is also influenced by years of playing with midwestern and southern-style fiddlers.

I welcome students ages 10 or above, and have learned to adapt my teaching style to the individual student, helping each one to make the most of his or her talents and enthusiasms, while emphasizing sound technique and good practice habits.

I have played the violin for 19 years and for the last five years have played on my family violin that is 217 years old so lessons with me will be very helpful for a beginner to intermediate student because having the right violin can make all the difference but ultimately I would say what separates me from the rest is my fun personality.

About alex
Hi there i’m Alex and I have taught the violin for about 4 years to beginning students and I have played for 19 years. I would say that a more fun approach to the violin is key in early development of skills in all ages to offset the rigorous form required to play.

I have been playing the violin for 29 years, and have been teaching for 16. I am very friendly and personable, and teach to the individual student's needs and desires after basic skills are learned. Want to play classical? We can. Want to play show tunes? We can. Want to play pop music? We can. I believe that you learn best by playing, and I believe in positive reinforcement. I teach children from age 7, and all ages of adults, beginners to advanced. I have performed professionally for many years, and have experience in overcoming performance anxiety. I coach for auditions, but love to teach students who want to learn for the sake of enjoyment too.

About Elizabeth
Fun, friendly private violin teacher who teaches to the student's goals, whatever they may be! Ages 7 and up, any level of student. What music do you love? Once we've learned the basics, we can start playing whatever you want. Positive reinforcement. Very personable, former students are still my friends. Graduated Magna Cum Laude with my AA in Performing Arts: Music degree, and was a member of several honors groups.
