Renee has a Bachelor degree from the University of Dayton in Music Therapy with an emphasis on piano, voice and music theory. She has been teaching children from age five to adult for over 12 years. In 1995 I taught children from Kindergarten to 4th grade Music at Liberty Christain Cathedral. In 2000 she worked at The Dayton Academy teaching music classes to elementary school children. In 2006 she taught voice to a school choir at Nehemiah University. In 2007 she successfully taught voice and performance to a Senior Choir at Wesley Community Center. The Senior Choir had many Choir performances. Also in 2007,she taught voice lessons and keyboard lessons to a youth choir at Maranatha Worship Center for seven years. she cond
ucted a Black History choir and several Christmas Plays. She has successfully taught students in the past who have become music teachers and music directors in a church or school setting. She has taught students from various backgrounds. Music is my passion because it is international communication. It ministers to my soul and spirit.

MUSIC (see fitness below): Shannon has numerous years experience teaching all skill levels on woodwinds, and beginning-intermediate piano & classical strings, using various approaches to best suit the students learning style, personality and needs.

Shannon is an active musician, who has been featured as a soloist, and in the flute and woodwind sections with various orchestras, chamber ensembles, opera orchestras and musical theatre within the United States, Italy, and Mexico. She is presently Principal Flute of the Baytown Symphony, Director of the Da Capo Chamber Ensembles, and is a substitute musician with the Orquesta Sinfnica
de Monterrey, Symphony of Southeast Texas, and Opera in the Heights.

Shannon has been a faculty member at various colleges, is currently Adjunct Professor of Music at Brazosport College, and also has an active private studio, Leigh Studios. She is the College Music Society South-Central Regional President; and is an Advisory Board member for the Houston Flute Club.

Shannon received her Masters of Music degree in Performance from the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities. She also studied at the University of Missouri-Kansas City, and received her B.A. degree in Performance, and B.S. degree in Music-Business from Winona State University, and has studied with world-renowned instructors.

Shannon has received grants for her work, from the Minnesota State Arts Board, American Federation of Musicians, Rome Festival Orchestra, and the Winona Music Guild, and was the 1997 recipient of the Vivian Menees Nelson Music Award.

Shannon is also a sponsored triathlete and trainer/coach/race director, and gives workshops on the importance of healthy living, nutrition and exercise for musicians. She is a board member for The Lake Charles Triathletes. And she is a strong advocate for music, health, and triathlon. I am pretty easy going. I want you to feel comfortable and at ease, but we do need to focus and can have fun doing it. :)
I utilize various methods for each instrument, which is determined by the students learning style and ability; needs, so this can change as time goes on (not sticking to one particular publishers materials). I have done (and continue to do) extensive research into materials available for each instrument I teach, and supplement with my own, to utilize the best out there for "YOU" for the best possible progress. While ensuring an extremely well-rounded musical education, so you can progress at the best possible rate. Since each student's potential is different, each will progress differently. This is also determined by your dedication to daily practice (the more you practice, the quicker you will progress & the more accomplished you will become). About Rene
Knowing at the age of 5 that music was my life, by being brought up surrounded by praise music and gospel, my early exposure to music helped me to find every Instrument and style just my thing! I wanted to play everything and learn all aspects of music. I started with singing in the children's choir and then developed into piano and music theory. At the age of 12 I began to learn classical guitar, and at 15 took on various styles like Flamenco, Jazz and Rock. I graduated from High School having played in the school band achieving recognition In national Institutions Like IAJE (International Association for Jazz Education) and state band finals. I was also composing from a very early age, and at 18 released my first album (self-titled) which can still be heard and purchased today through various music outlets, since i have released over 15
albums with various ensembles and bands. In college I already knew from my previous experience that I wanted to teach and pass on the joy that music brought to my life. I studied Music Theory and Jazz and finished my degree in Music Education. I have been teaching all in all for about 14 yrs. And I have enjoyed every minute I have spent with my students learning as much from them, as them from me. I am looking forward to meeting new and eager students who really want to bring their inner music out to share with the rest of us music aficionados! and develop their skills to the peak of their abilities.

My teaching method ranges depending on the student. I believe in my experience that everyone learns differently, therefore everyone develops at their own pace. I try to find key strengths in each student and expose this to their advantage, using their abilities to further develop their skills, this method has shown the most promising results and students usually find themselves playing and performing just a couple of months after their first lessons. Part of my method involves a lot of performance and recital opportunities to help break any fears and inhibitions a student may bring with them. Music is about sharing, so an early exposure to this method helps to strengthen and stabilize a core acceptance of a students style and path, giving them and those close to them a very clear picture of their development and achievements.

If you needed a reason

There is no question that music touches us instantly and activates images, emotions and memories that linger with us throughout our lives. As a casual listener or an obsessive music elitist, there are times in our lives when we get blown away by a sound so unique our entire body vibrates and resonates with the touch of something out of this world. I can honestly say when this happens to me I feel as close to a spiritual connection than anything I have experienced otherwise. I believe it is these exact events that have triggered my need to be completely involved in the making, performing and consuming of music. The creative process, to me, is the single obvious reason we exist in this world. We create and share, learn and interpret, build on previous ideas and inspire others to perfect upon this process. It is no doubt a very humbling experience to realize you are part of it all. During this process you come to realize how important you are as an Individual, how there is no other vessel like you in this world, nor has there ever been or ever will. You are here now and your voice, your talent, your gift is an instrument to the great choir of the human spirit. No one but you can relate this, a reason to be, to create, to give.

I received my Bachelor of Music Degree in Organ Performance from the Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music in June of 2010, studying under Dr. Roberta Gary. I have completed two years of additional graduate study at the Conservatory, and plan to utilize these credits to earn a Master's in Music in the next few years.

I began playing the piano at the age of 5, later moving to the organ at 9. I have held a church job since then, working in multiple different denominations and settings. I have a strong background of piano, accompanying, theory, sacred liturgy, and musical performance. I enjoy studying and listening to many genres of music as well as performing them. I am very interested in historically informed performance and understanding different techniques as they are related to the composition style of different time perio
ds.

I enjoy working with students of all ages. Regardless of your ability, age, or experience, I will work with you. We can work out a plan for lesson times, intensity of practice and work, and tailor the lesson to the right pace for you.

*** Lesson Details ***
My lessons tend to be tailored to the needs of individual students. I am not as much a fan of a strict curriculum that I use on each student. For beginners, one can expect to be given method books to get them moving in the right direction. As one advances, we eventually move on to repertoire. I take an approach to lessons that emphasizes total body awareness and high level mental awareness. The most important thing anyone can learn in music is that it isn't just about the right notes; it isn't about the right rhythm. It is about the complete musicianship and the complete awareness needed to truly understand and perform a work of music. In order to make this approach work, my strictness as a teacher varies depending on the level of devotion the student is willing to put forth. After six months with me as a teacher, expect to notice changes in the way you see music and comprehend your technique at the keyboard.

I expect students to purchase their own music. For beginners with method books, I have these available to the students to purchase from me.

I am very highly trained in performance practices of the Baroque era, especially on the organ. I am also very specialized in body movement and efficient keyboard technique. I have enjoyed working with Victor. He is very knowledgeable about the music in particular the Baroque period. He brings a very good perspective that has enriched my understanding of early music. I can say clearly that one leaves sessions with a desire to learn more and with an understanding of music as serious branch of human study rather than something that is simply fun (in the sense of being mundane amusement).

Dee,at the very beginning has a special way of making my 12 year old comfortable and be herself, and learn. She has made every minute count and yet,made the time pass by so quickly.

I studied AMEB music theory back home in Australia (Australian Musical Examination Board), all the way through until college where I studied a bachelor of performing arts. During my studies advanced theory was covered. As a performing musician playing in orchestras and other ensembles I've always maintained a high level of theory.

I improvise playing electronic violin with DJ's, this requires a broad theory knowledge. It is an instrumental skill when free styling.

I have taught music theory to up and coming music producers to hone their skills and become masters at production. My music has taken me all around the world, from Australia, to Europe and now the US, where I have been recently granted an extraordinary ability visa, recognizing me as one of the best performers from my home country. This allows me to teach and perform music in America.

I started my musical career at the age of 2, on the piano, shortly afterwards moving to the violin, and the viola. Earning the music scholarship at school for best classical musician, and later on the scholarship for best orchestral instrumentalist at the world renowned music conservatoire WAAPA (West Australia Academy of Performing Arts). Earning my first diploma (A.Mus.A) at age 14, my music has taken me all around the world. I've played such places as the Australian High Commission, Rheingoldhalle in Mannhein, Dvorak hall in Prague, Australian embassy in London, Disneyland in Paris, and the opening the Australian embassy in Berlin, all before the age of 18.

Most recently through my many musical endeavors, I have been granted a visa of extraordinary ability as musician to enter the United States.

Since then I have lead the LADSO
viola section, played with the West LA Symphony Orchestra, played alongside Laryn Hill, a show presented by Quincy Jones, played in movie orchestras, recorded for studio sessions, performed electronic violin for private parties and nightclubs across the US.

I have been teaching music since age 11. My mother is a concert pianist and I started off by teaching her students the violin. I have taught ever since and I love it. I have studied in Australia, Europe and the US.

Kerry attended Wright State University for two (2) years, and then transferred to Belmont University to receive a Bachelors of Music in Percussion Performance. He also holds a Masters of Music from Eastern Kentucky University. He also studied at the Eastman School of Music to learn Creative Music Making and African drum studies. Lastly, he attended the University of Dayton for Percussion, Music Technology, & World music, and the Samba school in Salvador/Rio, Brazil for Samba studies.

Kerry has been performing since 1984 for theatre shows, bands for rock, jazz, R & B, Circus’ (Great Wallendas), swing bands, American Entertainment Productions show band (One year), and performed with Holland America Cruise Line for three (3) years. Starting with my first music lessons at age 7, I've spent the last 40 plus years studying and performing music. I studied classical guitar with well-known Cuban virtuoso, Carlos Molina & Adam Holtzman. I've performed with some of the music world’s greats such as blues legend Bo Diddley, The Platters, The Coasters, Stephen Stills (Crosby, Stills & Nash), Bonnie Raitt as well as jazz greats Randy Brecker, Red Rodney, Ira Sullivan, Pam Laws & Marcus Roberts. About Elizabeth
A versatile musician, Elizabeth is a flutist currently pursuing a Doctor of Musical Arts degree at the University of Oklahoma. Elizabeth is active as a performer and teacher. She previously was the principal flutist of the Symphony Orchestra and Wind Ensemble at the University of Tennessee where she also held a position as the Graduate Teaching Assistant for associate flute professor, Shelley Binder. Also an academic, Elizabeth has excelled in musicology and music theory coursework and earned a certificate in Music Theory Pedagogy.

She has been studying flute since 2002 and continues to dedicate herself to her craft. Elizabeth received her Bachelor of Music degree, with a concentration in instrumental performance, from Christopher Newport University in 2015. In 2017 she completed a Graduate Certificate in Music Theory Pedagogy and Master
of Music at the University of Tennessee. As of August 2017, Elizabeth has begun coursework towards her DMA at the University of Oklahoma as the doctoral teaching assistant in the flute studio.
