Above all I want students to enjoy learning the piano. Most people start because they love a certain type of music or wish they could just sit down and enjoy playing. My goal is to make that happen. I teach all ages, beginners and intermediate levels. I think that lessons for children need a lot of variety so that they can learn from games, singing, clapping, movement and playing the piano. Of course, we all need singing, clapping, movement and playing the piano to learn but without the stickers at the end of your lessons!

About Nancy

Playing the piano and loving music has been at the center of my life. Aside from the happiness and fun it can bring, learning an instrument also teaches discipline and confidence which carry over into everything. I enjoy teaching both children and adults. As I teacher I am patient and encoura

What a wonderful piano teacher Nancy is! I am in my 50's and learning for the first time. Nancy made me comfortable, explains everything very well and I quickly learned how I needed to place my fingers and where my body should be sitting to play my best. By the time I was finished, I had an understanding of what and where the piano keys were and was capable of playing a simple song. I left with a great feeling of accomplishment. I am eager to continue and learn more!

There is a potential in every person to be truly great at any one thing. All it takes is hard work and honest determination, with determination being the most important. Because where determination comes, hard work follows naturally.
I hope to inspire my students to really love making music and being creative with their instruments. I can give my students all the information in the world and tips on how to improve at violin playing, but in the end it will not matter if the student has no desire to improve. And that is why I love to teach- inspiring students to love what they do!

I love Abi’s class!! She is a great teacher and easy to work with. She is also very flexible to teach anything that you want to play. One of the best thing of her class is she always send you a class note after each class, which is very helpful for you to review and remind you what you’ve learned or tips from the class! I highly recommend her!

Abigail is a amazing teacher! Even though we were learning through online she made it fun and educational. She explained and gave examples that helped me understand and look at things in a different ways. She is very easy to talk to, kind, and funny person. Like I said I was learning with her online and l would absolutely want to work with in person.

Orange Blossom, Mississippi Sawyer and Devil's Dream are a few of the basic fiddle songs I like to teach. The key to Fiddling is being able to play in tune and fast with a few basic rhythm patterns. I teach theory, scales, rhythm, pattern recognition, how to work with a metronome from slow to fast, proper bow grip and placement as well as proper posture for the violin.

About Erin

My name is Erin. I am a graduate of the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. I have a Bachelor of Arts in Music, with a concentration in Violin. I began studying violin at the age of six. We are going to discuss diferent ways to come up with a musical idea. Explore different aproches to create and develop the basic aspects of a song or composition: Melody, Harmony, Form, Texture, Rhythm, and Orquestation. I am more focussed on jazz composition that can be used in diferent styles pop, latin music, contemporary music among other styles. I teach diferent tecniques that are developed by Bela Bartok, Oliver Messian, Composers of the Romanticism and 21th century and jazz composers and arrangers like Duke Ellington and Billy Sthayhorn, Wayne Shorter, Bill Evans, Chales Mingus, Thelonius Monk and John Coltrane.

I studied classical music theory and analysis, and I had great contempory composition and arranging techers like Alan Ferber, Guillermo Klein Rich Shemaria and Alan Broadbent.

My goal is to build up your creativity and help you to create good songs or composition and develop you own music pesonality.

Oscar is a total rockstar of a piano teacher, and I truly cannot recommend him enough to anyone looking to make their life more musical. I’ve been playing piano for years (let’s just say well over a decade); I’ve always loved it, but this is honestly the most fun I’ve ever had with it, and his lessons are the highlight of my week.

Before starting with Oscar, my formal training had only been in classical music: there’s a joke I once heard (that I’ve never forgotten because, in my case…definitely was not a joke) which goes, “How do you get a pianist to stop playing?” “You take away their sheet music.” Before any literalists go and try to jam their memory banks with a million scores (pause, please), let me just point out that what the joke is getting at is the raw fear so many of us have when it comes to experimenting with our own musical ideas, just taking some risks and messing around on the keys. So much fear—as if everything you do will cause Beethoven to roll so hard in his grave that he rolls over to Chopin’s, which happens to be empty because Chopin has already rolled away, having heard you too.

There are two things that Oscar said at my very first lesson that I now realize I’d been waiting to hear from a piano teacher for my entire musical life. After his ears survived my hackneyed interpretation of a jazz scale exercise I’d found online, he very calmly and gently informed me, “We’re going to stay away from sheet music, and we’re going to work on rhythm.” …Luckily, he hadn’t brought up the fact that I was going to need to sing—something I definitely have not been waiting to hear from anyone ever. But by the time this came up, I already so fully trusted Oscar’s pedagogical wisdom and goodwill that I felt comfortable enough to embrace the challenge.

Oscar’s teaching is based in a genuine excitement for sharing both his passion for music and impressive know-how. He has helped me structure and focus my haphazard attempts enormously, making a lot of what seems mystifying, accessible and manageable. I can’t imagine tackling these still-quite-scary challenges without his encouragement and guidance. There are pep talks. There are music recommendations and listening sessions. There are dazzling demos that he whips up on the spot. It’s just an all-around great time. Thank you, Oscar!
Pablo
Oscar was such a good instructor that I don’t think I’d ever want to be taught piano by anyone else. He gave me personal piano lessons for ~5 years. He was always patient and understanding whenever I struggled with sheet music that was trivial to him, making sure he put himself in my shoes and tried to visualizr how to best provide guidance on the process of mastering the technique.
Oscar is an expert at a variety of musical genres ranging from classical music to modern jazz. His range is so wide that once, I even asked him to help me learn a hard rock/metal tune, and despite not being familiar with the genre, he was capable of extrapolating his knowledge into understanding the sheet music and how it was meant to be played to the point where he was better than me at playing this song (even when I’d practice it daily and he was just reading it on the fly!).
Oscar was always flexible and understanding of time conflicts, even inviting me to play at his house at some points where my piano was broken and/or unavailable.
I liked Oscar as a teacher so much, that I even convinced him of giving me and my family some cooking lessons!

"I have been taking trumpet lessons from Troy for about 16 months and I highly recommend him as an excellent , very patient and encouraging teacher.
I am 80 years old and before lessons with Troy had not touched my horn since high school. He started with the basics and with his guidance my skills improved nearly to the level when I played in the high school orchestra and concert band.

In addition to being a very good teacher, Troy is also an excellent musician and his passion for music and sharing is highly inspiring.
Being an excellent teacher and musician is just part of Troy. He tops it off with a big personality and a good guy to be around.
If you are 8 or 80 and are looking for a teacher with outstanding credentials who is very patient and makes learning fun be sure to ask for Troy as your teacher.

Classical singers, listen up! Here's a resource you absolutely shouldn't miss, reviewed by voice teacher Molly R...   If you teach classical voice, you are probably aware that one of the biggest challenges is accompaniment!
