I can definitely teach any serious student how to play well. I can get you ready to play in a band and perform live. Classic Rock, Blues and Jazz are my specialties. I've been teaching and performing these styles nationally for over 30 years. If you really want to learn how to play well, I'm your teacher. We'll definitely have fun and the more you practice, the more fun you'll have. And if you just want to learn a few chords and a few tunes to strum, we can do that too. You pick, guitar hero or just a fun hobby. Anyone can learn to play and have fun with the way I teach.

Tom is an excellent music teacher. He has been teaching our granddaughter classical guitar and we have been very pleased. I taught instrumental and vocal music in the public schools. I also taught strings at the Arts School .
He is well educated in the music field and has had so much performing experience so he has a very well rounded background, I think you would be very pleased
to study with Tom.

Fantastic first lesson, really looking forward to learning more. George is a great guy and great teacher, I feel like I'm in great hands.

First lesson was impressive. George is clearly fluent in the language of music. He was able to identify problems with my singing (which were not exactly what I thought they were)and give me solutions for them. He explained this to me in terms I understood. The hour with him was the most targeted constructive time I’ve had in my journey to become a singer. For lesson one, you can’t ask for more than that.

George is a personable, knowledgeable, and gifted teacher. He can tailor the lessons to fit anyone's needs.

Eric is a really great teacher! He is very patient with my 13 year old daughter, a beginner, during her lessons and always seems very supportive and enthusiastic as she slowly progresses from week to week. He is an accomplished musician himself and plays along with her to show her how something should sound. Eric has a nice laid back attitude, is very on target with my daughter's musical tastes and he has a great personality! I am very happy with his teaching methods and we hope to continue her lessons with him for the next few years.
Tahir A.
Great instructor. Has a lot of background knowledge, which may be intimdating to some. But he does a good job of identifying strengths and weaknesses upon which to work.
Lawrence Neal
Eric was great. He is obviously very knowledgeable but he is also easy to talk to and seemed to quickly understand what I knew and what I didn't. A good communicator and his set up for the lessons was very comfortable and easy to find. One hour lesson flew by!

Being a musician is not merely a matter of notes on a page. Technique, theory, and reading are important and always play a role, but in my lessons, I strive to also put a strong focus on personal goals, aspirations, and passions. With these as a guide, I’ll help you not only play but also to create. I’m an active performer and songwriter and have a decade of experience writing, producing, and recording music of all varieties. Let’s book a lesson today and begin looking at the big picture. There’s so much more to be found just beyond the notes.

Hi! I’m so glad you stumbled upon my TakeLessons profile because it means that you’re a step closer to becoming a ‘real’ musician. But before you call up images of cold concert halls and stuffy, tuxedoed audiences or international superstars selling out arenas, let me briefly explain what it mean

Hi! I've been giving music lessons in person since 2012, focusing on guitar and drums, with students of ages ranging from 5-65 years of age & everywhere in between. Having studied music (with a focus on composition) and graduated with a Bachelor's degree from Columbia College Chicago in 2011, I've learned enough about music to teach intermediate/advanced concepts. I've also spent lots of time with students who are brand new to learning music, so giving lessons for beginners is something i'm very familiar with, as well. I've also been balancing my music teaching with performing, and have been doing so regularly for over 15 years, mainly around the Chicagoland area. I look forward to working with people who are excited to learn more about music, via TakeLessons. Thanks!

I would consider myself a patient teacher, as I clearly remember the difficult and frustrating beginnings of learning an instrument. I always try to put myself in the students position in order to transmit the lessons in the most effective and uplifting way. Something I believe when starting flamenco/classical guitar is developing a solid and correct technique. It is especially important to have this base in order to not develop bad habits or injuries later on. As we all know, each student is different, which means each lesson will be tailored dependent on the student's level. I sincerely enjoy watching my students grow and evolve and hope I can be of the greatest help on their journey learning the guitar. I teach all levels and ages.

"Best Guitar Teacher Around!!!

This guy makes learning guitar not such a daunting task. I have always wanted to learn guitar- and thought I was too old to start now- But after working with Ryan- I am confident that my skills will only grow and that some day I will be as good as he is :) His lessons are geared towards your specific needs- he creates a curriculum that is attainable. I really appreciate the personal approach he takes with his students and I look forward to continuing working with him. Great Teacher!!!"

"My 12 year old son had his first guitar lesson with Ronny tonight, and it was AMAZING! Ronny was on time...a little early, in fact! He was polite as can be. Such a gentleman.

He was SO patient. I liked how every so often he asked my son if he had any questions or wanted to go over anything again before they moved on. Ronny was very encouraging along the way, really building my son's confidence by pointing out whatever progress he noticed as they played.

One other thing I really liked was how he acknowledged my son's excitement, but gently gave him a reality check by telling him things like "focus on progression, not perfection," and "remember to stay humble."

All in all, Ronny is a Fantastic teacher. I would recommend him in a heartbeat!"

Everything You Need to Know About the Blues Scale on Guitar

Learning the blues scale on guitar is something of a rite of passage for every guitarist. If you’re a beginner with reasonable dexterity and you’re serious about learning, you’ll find the blues scale to be extremely useful. For intermediate guitarists, this scale is essential, but it’s also important to understand that scales are merely the alphabet of the blues language. It's important to go beyond that and play real blues melodies as well, so you can start to better understand …
