Music Jenny comes from a very musical family and started piano when she was five years old. She grew up constantly listening to her father practicing his guitar and brother practicing violin. Since then, her accomplishments include an Honorable Mention at the Korea Times Youth Music Competition. She has performed in two solo recitals and has performed biannually with the Beverly Hills Chamber Orchestra. Jenny has participated in the Frederic Chopin Felix Mendelssohn Minifest 2005 and has regularly performed at the Colburn School of Performing Arts from 2003 - 2008. Jenny was also a part of th
e Goldcoast Chamber Music Festival and was awarded the second prize at the Chamber Music Walker Competition. She has excellent communication skills and has worked as an assistant to the Program Coordinator at Montecito Summer Music Festival while also participating as a performer. In addition to her musical abilities, Jenny has received many academic honors as well. She is a member of the Agoura High Chapter of the California Scholarship and is also on the Dean’s List at the University of Southern California. She graduated from USC with a BA in Music and emphasis on Piano.
Jenny started teaching neighborhood kids while she was in high school and has continued to inspire her students throughout her academic studies. She strives to make every lesson different, tailored to individual student’s needs, whether he or she is a beginning toddler or in need of advanced technique.
Dance Jenny has always had a passion for the performing arts. During her years at USC, she discovered Latin dancing. She has performed, choreographed, and taught for USC's Latin dance team Break On 2 and is still involved. She has participated and performed at numerous salsa and bachata festivals/congresses.
*** Lesson Details *** Music As a teacher, I try to make music learning as fun and well-rounded as possible. Every student is unique, and I try my best to accommodate every individual's needs. I encourage students to always ask questions, no matter how silly it might sound, and to trust me to help you achieve your goals. I encourage students to tell me their favorite songs and genre of music and use the knowledge to help keep them motivated, to remind them that learning is fun.
For all ages and levels, I prefer to incorporate music theory as part of the learning process. It allows the student to see the how and why, to not only feel music but also understand it. If your goal is primarily playing oriented, I will, of course, adjust my teaching style to fit your needs.
I learn something new from every student, love seeing my students improve and gain confidence in themselves. I ask that students come with an open mind and be prepared to make mistakes because no piece is perfect and neither are lessons. Lessons give you the opportunity to make mistakes without judgement. You can trust me to always have a positive attitude, it is OK to make mistakes, but practice to play better, and enjoy the feedback to see yourself improve! Learning piano does not happen in a few lessons and is a lifelong rewarding process. I hope to see you treat music with respect, so let's make beautiful music together!
Dance I also provide choreography for wedding dances (couples, father/daughter). My main focus is on the social aspect of Latin dancing, such as salsa, bachata, merengue, and cha cha. Thus, I will only take students who are able to go out dancing to studios, restaurants, and clubs, meaning 18+ individuals or groups. Every week, I will provide new, cool, and stimulating choreography that supplements technique while developing your own unique style. I love to see my students out on the dance floor, implementing moves learned and having fun! Dancing is a healthy, joyful activity. Get ready for a confidence boost and let's get your heart pumping!
*** Studio Equipment *** Music - Upright piano and teaching/practice materials. Dance - Music playing device, carpet.
*** Travel Equipment *** Music - Student should have a keyboard or piano and practice related materials. Dance - Ladies should have secure, comfortable heels. Gentlemen should wear non-rubber soled shoes. Preferably wood or laminate floor. Carpet is ok but will have a harder time developing technique. Also should have some sort of stereo or speaker system, a computer is OK if it is loud.
*** Specialties *** Piano: All Ages and All Levels. Classically trained. Encourage students to incorporate favorite songs/genres of music be it rock, pop, jazz, etc.
Dance: Wedding dances and Latin styles for social dancing, such as salsa, bachata, merengue, & cha-cha. Personal choreography based on routine moves augmented by current trends.
Tutoring: elementary to middle school subjects. study skills, hw help.

Excellent piano teacher for our 6 year old son. Jenny is patient and great overall with kids. I appreciate the incorporation of both theory and practice into the lessons Seven months in, we have seen significant progress and best of all, our son is showing initiative to play on his own.
I graduated in classical ballet Cecchetti method. I am also graduated in the method Orazio Costa (mimetic method). I like to experience the two forms that are complementary. The first: the grace through exercise and awareness. The second: the freedom through organically reunited with nature. The body speaks and means. Let's give voice together

Lindsay is Awesome and very patient with me,I'm a beginner and she made me feel comfortable in what I was doing. I can't wait for our next class,I highly recommend her.
Enjoy classes that stem from Ballet, Modern Contemporary, Lyrical, and/or Jazz. We can create a fusion class or we can focus on a specific technique: your pick.
I am most happy when I am creating. Dance is my first choice of escape! Working and performing with dance companies, teaching dance classes, and directing screendance projects is my primary focus. Screendance is a way for me to express my creative eye through photography, dance, design, choreography, film, performance, and editing in one craft. The purpose of my work in both choreography and screendance is to compose fresh representations of beauty and strength through linear forms and unique shapes in modern and eclectic dance styles. Ask me about collaborating on a project and learning more

"A truly talented and amazing teacher!
We learned a wedding dance from Kelly and coming from a guy with two left feet, she did an awesome job guiding us t
hrough and teaching us cool choreography to make us look good! Kelly is extremely professional and takes her time understanding what you want to accomplish and teaches at a great pace where you learn while continuing to move forward. Each lesson progressed very nicely while we learned in her home studio. It was a very comfortable space and we nailed down exactly what we were aiming to do. We learned three types of dance: ballroom, tap, and a swing/bollywood hybrid. Kelly guided us through each and made sure we were comfortable and happy in the end. She even cut the three songs together for us! I would highly recommend Kelly as she has a warm heart, great attitude, and is a wonderful teacher!"

"Gina is amazingly dedicated, both to the material she teaches and to her students. She's knowledgeable and encouraging. I engaged her to teach ballet to m

"I was able to book incredible dance lessons with Ferlyn at the last minute for my friends who needed dance lessons for their wedding. Here is what they h
ad to say:
"We had a little over a week before our wedding and needed to figure out our first dance. We went to Ferlyn for dance lessons. In 5 sessions we had our first dance down! She helped us build confidence in our dance. She is extremely professional and helpful. She allowed us to change up some moves and suggested new moves that would improve our style. We learned a lot of new techniques with great insight. Our first dance went really well and we definitely recommend her!" - Dang & Niki
I've received glowing reviews from them about that experience ever since, and they'll be cherishing that memory forever. I will continue to recommend Ferlyn for my other friends from now on! She won't let you down!"
