So far, I have had only one lesson with Dr. M., the only singing lesson I've had in my entire 66 years of a lifetime. My only regret, is that I did not take them sooner. Dr M. is patient, an expert, and motivational. What more could you ask for when working with a teacher. He thinks he can make a singer out of me; I'll have to trust his judgement. It would be awesome, if he achieves our goal.

Luther stays where I’m at and then helps me go the next step. That is useful for consistent gradual progress without the frustrations of moving either too slow or too fast (I am a beginning tenor saxophone player). Nice interpersonal style, patient and easy going, while methodical.

I think Luther is great. He works with my 10-year old son on piano, singing and even trumpet and violin as needed. My son has to work hard to progress, and Luther customizes the lesson plan for him and seems to understand him well. I'm really excited about them working together.

My approach to teaching is to use the student’s interests and passions to help their learning move forward quickly. We first talk about what excites the student. The student and I list long-term and short-term goals that are realistic and reachable. I then create a course of study that supports these goals. During lessons we review these goals and track progress. We create new objectives as students reach old ones.

Engaged, energized students progress quickly. Students who are having fun tend to practice more. I encourage students to include fun tasks in their regular practice time. We reinforce this by including fun musical exercises in lessons. They do call it playing an instrument, after all!

Students can study:
Performance Fundamentals, technique and repertoire, Classical to Post-BeBop Jazz
Contest Preparation, Solo and Ensemble, District and State Honors Bands, College Auditions
Contemporary Music Theory, from scale construction through complex harmonic concepts
Jazz ...

I'm a musician, saxophonist, composer and arranger, and experienced music teacher/educator.
I recently graduated with honors from the New School University for Jazz and Contemporary Music.

My approach to working with students is to be generous and understanding while being an educator and mentor for them. My goal as a saxophone teacher is to get my students to be more familiar with the instrument by teaching them how to control and develop their sound, expression and different improvisation skills.

My vision as a teacher is to help students translate their feelings into music; I consider music as therapeutic in that sense. I always thrive to inspire my students, but I also hope to be inspired by them. My life goal is to bring peace through music.

For the last 13 years career as an active professional musician, I’ve been composing original music and arrange to a large variety of instrumentations that including strings quartet, brass, big band and more. Big part of it was ...

"Excellent instructor!! She knows what is appropriate to work on each lesson. Her musicianship is evident from the very first lesson. She takes the time to understand where the student is and what is best to focus on. She comes prepared and is enthusiastic. She is especially good teaching children. I have seen her in action teaching beginner piano, beginner clarinet, and beginner/intermediate sax."

"Nick is an excellent teacher who knows his stuff and a nice guy one has things to discuss, too. Due to lack of time, I’m having a hard time mastering the instrument but Nick supports me and gives me confidence. And if I can’t get something right, he always tries to find a way to aid in. With his help, I’m making my dream come true! A million ‘Thank you’ to him for that!"
