I have been typing for more then 50 years and currently help some of my piano students with their ability to learn to type and have been very successful. I teach typing online and even though my availibility shows I only teach Sunday onlines, I do teach typing online on other days so I can accommodate you at other times as well so please feel free to contact me about other times.
I have a degree and certification in violin and piano from the Boston Conservatory as well as a Master's Degree from the University of Maryland. I have had additional training and certification as a Suzuki teacher from The Suzuki Teacher Training Institute. I am a member of SAGWA-Suzuki Association of the Greater Washington Area as well as SAA-Suzuki Association of the Americas. I have played all around the world including the Vatican, White House, Paris, Russia, England and Wales as well as in Concert Halls such as Carnegie Hall and Kennedy Center. I have taken students with me to perform as well in these countries and also every major concert hall in the Washington, D.C. area. s and colleges. I am also a judge in the Young Artist Award in Maryland. In addition, I have received two White House awards for my performances at the White House, I am also a member of Psi Chi International Honor Society.
Music has been an important part of my life. It represents so much that is good in life and I do my best to communicate this to my students. I am training my students not just to be musicians but to love music for life.
*** Lesson Details *** I treat each student as an individual since everyone is different. For some I might use a traditional approach, some just the Suzuki approach and others a combination of techniques. Whatever produces the best results. My goal is not to make strictly classical musicians but to train students to love music and carry this love throughout life. My repertoire consists of everything including traditional, Suzuki, Disney, Showtunes, etc. I have taken students to perform little concerts at the White House, schools, hospitals and concert halls to get the real feel of performing. I view lessons as a three way relationship between myself, the student and the parent so that the parent is not left out. I even have a small group called Musical Magic which incorporates magic into music. I feel I am laid back but am able to accomplish my goal through positive reinforcement. In the past six months my students have performed for the National Humane Society at their animal ball, a multi teacher recital on a local stage, and just two weeks ago seven of them performed at Strathmore. No student is required to perform but if they want to the opportunity is there. All students are required to have an instrument prior to beginning lessons. If students need to rent a violin, I will provide you with the name of a violin dealer that both rents and sells string instruments. Piano students must have a piano or keyboard.
I have also started a toddler music appreciation program geared for the 1-4age range. The purpose of this program is to expose very young children to the fun of Music through instruments, songs and play.

Among the accent reduction teachers that I had before, Erol is the only one who actually could find the problems in my accent! The program he uses is very useful. The way he explains things or exaggerates the mistakes will help me to correct my accent. Overall, an awesome experience and I would totally recommend him to anyone.

Worst experience, complete waste of my money. I could write several paragraphs detailing all the things that occurred that frustrated me, but I will just list a few facts: Could not answer most of my process questions. Very frustrating, but Liz said she would get back to me on the 3 specific questions that I very much needed. I made sure to review the still open questions 2-3 times before the end of our waste of time session. She never got back to me, even after several follow-up requests.
No worries, TakeLessons has a Satisfaction guarantee, right? WRONG. Come to find out they will refund any unspent money. Because Liz demanded to get paid for her time, tho, I was 100% unhappy, TakeLessons refunded the $12 booking fee.
I tried and tried to get satisfaction from both Liz and TakeLessons before resorting to writing this review. I guess TakeLessona thinks it is OK for their instructors to not perform and still get paid. So disappointed in both.

As we had just started with quickbooks, Liz is a very informative instructor with a great deal of knowledge towards the program. She has an answer to any question you may ask and is very clear with her response.

I developed a simple, straightforward 3-4 lesson plan so you can finally escape from the hunt-and-peck method to rapid touch typing. (Your much improved speed will depend of course on how much you practice...)

I️ was connected to Rod through a tutoring agency. I️ contacted the agency because I️ recently graduated college and wanted to get into grad school but had not taken a math class since the 10th grade. The school I️ was applying to needed a minimum math score for the GRE, which I️ knew would be a enormous stretch for me. Additionally, I️ always had trouble with math and knew I️ would need a tutor to re-teach me everything I️ needed to know to get the score I️ wanted. I initially reached out to Rod for Algebra 1 review because I felt that my daughter lacked a solid foundation in algebra. However, after a couple of sessions, we have decided to switch gears toward geometry with Rod’s recommendation. Throughout the geometry lessons, algebra practice was incorporated. I am happy that not only did Rod tailor his lessons to my daughter’s goals but also he gave her a lot of encouragement. My daughter found it extremely helpful that she got to explain and discuss with Rod, which made lessons interactive and real learning. Now going back to school, my daughter feels confident, thanks to Rod!

Rod worked with my daughter weekly for a couple of months leading up to the NYC state tests. With Rod's careful, concerted planning and diligence, my daughter's score went from 2.4 on the 7th grade Math state test, to a 2.8 in 8th grade, which equates to a move from below the 50th percentile, to between the 50th and 75th percentile. My daughter's in-school math instruction was chaotic and disjointed, and I attribute her improvement to Rod's intervention.
I can type up to 100 wpm and I am good at getting student's to develop reliable and proven methods that will increase their typing speed.
I am an easy going, knowledgable and creative teacher. I strive to put the students and their personal needs first. I'm very aware that each student/person learns differently and I incorporate various strategies of learning into my lessons. There is a lot of humor and dialogue with my lessons, allowing my students the freedom to be themselves while playing.
As a school teacher, I have lots of experience in building student confidence and knowledge. If you aren't confident then you aren't progressing!
I like to record my students at different intervals of their education so they can hear the progress! I email a lesson recap after every lesson so that the student can see what we learned that week, including any notes/attachments for the student to review.
I also encourage my students to text/email/ or call with any questi
ons/concerns between lessons. This gives my students the ability to get through a challenging or difficult concept/strategy when its happening and not have to wait till the next lesson.

No show. I was set up and ready 10 minutes ahead of time, and 15 minutes after we were supposed to start I gave up. No call. no email, nothing. I called him at 6:20 to be told his day was screwed up by a funeral, and I told him my dog ate my homework. Pathetic. I knew I had a lesson, he must have known he had one to give, and no notification whatsoever. I don't do business like this.

Rob has a great eye for technique and is corrective and not critical.
I am able to type 50-60 words per minute and can assist students in developing and increasing their typing style and speed.
I am excited to begin teaching lessons in music, Bible, and academics. I have the knowledge necessary to teach my students beginning and intermediate levels of music and Bible as well as offer help with academic needs.
I am a graduate of Baptist Bible College in Springfield, MO and have a Bachelor of Arts degree in Church Music and Bible.
