I have and am continuing to study ballet, modern/contemporary, and jazz. I received a BFA in choreography and performance, so I hold the ability to coach as well.

About Michelle
Michelle grew up in Miami, Florida and developed a deep love for movement at a very young age. She graduated with a B.F.A. in Dance (with honors) and a minor in business from the Florida State University and while there performed work by choreographers including Larry Keigwin, Martha Graham, Gerri Houlihan, and Jawole Willa Jo Zollar. After graduating she became certified in Pilates Mat (Balanced Body) and relocated to New York City to pursue her career as a professional dancer. Since moving to NY, she has had the pleasure of working with JKing Dance Company and Sleep No More among many other performing artists in the city. She is a NASM certified personal trainer and will soon be certified as a corrective exercise instructor.

I had to attend a buddy's Wedding. I'm in my fifties and never been a good dancer. When I attended Wedding receptions two to three decades ago, I would manage to get through the dancing, sort of. This time, however, there was no getting around it. I would have to know how to dance because the woman that was accompanying me to the Wedding and reception was a Dance minor in College! I had a month to get it together so I contacted Michelle through Take Lessons.

Michelle is a patient knowledgeable teacher. She started me with basic dancing steps to “Panda Bear - Doin' it Right .” The basic dance steps that Michelle taught me can be used for virtually all Rock/Disco/Techno music that you will encounter. The tempos might vary, but the steps remain the same. When I became more proficient Michelle taught me line dances such as the “Macarena” and the “Cha Cha Slide.”

When I attended the Wedding reception with the Dance minor, I was confident and comfortable on the Dance floor thanks to Michelle!

Highly Recommended.

Olga has been instructing me for almost four years now. She has never once failed to brighten my day. I have progressed from a barely competent beginner to a very advanced dancer under her watch. I have learned so much from her. She is warm, funny, and nurturing. She has very special ways of making sure you always remember the lessons and materials. Madia is by far the very best dance instructor you could find! I have decided to hire her to teach my daughter online since we live in such a rural area. She did such an amazing job! She gave great feedback and was firm with my daughter while still being fun to work with. I would work with her again!

I will cater to what each individual needs, working with dance material you already know teach you choreography to achieve the following:

-provide personalized feedback to help improve technical and artistic growth.

- give tools to improve and deepen your understanding of technique

- explain how to connect your expressiveness with your technique

My style is very supportive and direct. I believe that to improve as a dancer you need personal feedback and hard work. I am very passionate about sharing what I know to help other dancers reach their goals.

About Amanda
I am currently dancing with the Paul Taylor 2 Dance Company and on faculty teaching at the Paul Taylor School. While maintaining a professional dance career in New York City, I have been passionate about teaching dance for the past 9 years.

I have taught Master Classes and Intensive Workshops in the Paul Taylor style throughout the nation, as well as teaching Vaganova Ballet at the Joffrey Ballet School. I have taught in numerous public schools through teaching residencies with Rioult Dance Company and Education In Dance. I believe these experiences have taught me how to assess individuals quickly and provide clear feedback in a positive and supportive way.

My teaching style is energetic, and focused on the personal experience each dancer is having, while giving direct and clear feedback. My goal is to help students reach their art
istic potential in their dancing by helping to combine technique with lyricism, rhythmic dynamics and emotive qualities.

Private lessons can be catered toward each individual. Either for an upcoming audition, feedback on solo or ensemble choreography, to help personalize technical corrections and to help push technique to a higher level, or for non dancers to help understand movement and feel comfortable in a beginning class.

You just want to learn how to boogie when the music hits you? Or maybe even feel more comfortable socializing when out and about? I can teach you the skills required to impress your audience and attract the right kind of attention when on the dance floor or just moving with the music.
I have been teaching dance for over 15 years, ever since starting dance clubs in high school. I learned I loved teaching and I loved to learn from others.
My goals as a teacher is~~~
~To cultivate my students' talents, strengths, and abilities in as little as one training session.
~To raise my students confidence in skills they didn't know they already possessed.
~To open the students mind on ways of thinking about rhythm and movement that can have physical results.
~To pass on knowledge

About Da-Rell
I am a hip-hop/house/contemporary dancer with professional/classical training, an academic background, and a passion for taking my students to the next level. I received my degrees in Dance, Psychology and Philosophy, and use these fields as a framework to help direct and assist students in learning how to train their bodies and minds in many different disciplines. I've lived in many cities and always learned each city's dance styles.
I can teach: popping, locking, waving, tutting, liquid, sliding, house, footwork, breakdancing, acrobatics, choreography, improvisation, and theatrical.
I can help you build your own style. A style that specifically pertains to you. I'll show you how to incorporate concepts, themes, and ideas, to tell a story, or to just express yourself through movement and rhythm.
I love teaching, and I love that look i
n a persons face after they get something that was tough. I love helping them understand what they could do differently to yield different results.
If you want to learn hip hop, house, or fusion- I am a very patient yet motivating teacher. I can be strict at times, but only when needed ;-)

Classes focus on ideas and concepts as well as ways to act them out. We learn how to utilize balance, emotion, finesse, attention, and focus to transition between movements. Exploring performing with character, style, technique, and form to develop their own individual philosophies on movement. We dissect different instruments and rhythms to experience them in different parts of the body. Integrating hip hop, ballet, modern, house, and martial arts into one cohesive style.
My goal is to foster artistic growth and to help you surprise yourself!

Da-Rell and I hit it off right away. In less than a day we already had a dance lesson planned, and we got right to it. Da-Rell has groove and is the number one recommended hip-hop dance trainer from the Take Lessons company. We went over moon walking, sliding / gliding, and other modern hip-hop moves. My specialty is teaching tap as a musical instrument. For me, the movement serves the sound rather than a visual effect. No matter if you're a beginning, intermediate or advanced student, you will discover the potential of the human body to help internalize musical concepts such as phrasing, form, improvisation, and self-expression, as well as gain organic access to complex musical structures. Whether your focus is on building tap dance skills, seeking to connect body and mind in a profound and musical way, or are a musician who wants to become more connected and physically involved with the groove within - you are in the right place with me. The tap steps are merely tools to access your unique voice. My tap lessons combine technique, improvisation, and combinations with mindfulness, breathing, and body awareness exercises. Find the groove that is within you!

About Sandra
I am a tap dance musician, writer, and visual artist.
My performance credits include Thomas Marek's show NOLA, the sound art/tap performance Homöostep, the Tap Ahead Festival, and Daniel Luka's T.A.P. My current main project is Neosole, which explores tap as a music instrument, as a full member of the rhythm section, not just soloing as a gimmick on top of the music, but being fully integrated, comping and providing a foundation for the musical context.
I have been invited to teach at renowned facilities such as tanzhaus nrw, tap club, and Rebeltanz, and to be a tap dancer in residence at Thomas Marek's Studio Footprints.
My artistic works have been featured in publications such as Average Art, The Tap Love Tour Podcast, What Moves You, and Not Random Art.
I first started tap dancing at the age of 10 under the direction of my Mom.
From then on, I was influenced by many different teachers and mentors, such as Barbara Duffy, Sebastian Weber, Pia Neises, Derick Grant, Sarah Petronio, and Heather Cornell, to only name a few. I graduated from the tap dance apprenticeship S.O.N.T.I. with magna cum laude.
I consider myself a musician, and the tap shoes are my instrument. My style is deeply rooted in the aesthetic of jazz music and heavily shaped by playing in numerous jam sessions around Europe and New York City, however, my art transcends the boundaries of genres. It is merely a tool to create the most genuine and sophisticated expression possible. A catalyst to explore art as an extension of the human experience.
I call myself a tap dance musician because neither dance nor music could exist without the other. However, I don't move to look a certain way, I move to sound a certain way.
