I believe in the extraordinary power of music to communicate, to inspire and, often, to heal. That belief underlies all my work. I’ve been teaching Broadway style singing to adults and kids for over ten years, focusing on how to produce a big, beautiful, and vocally safe sound. My students run the gamut from musical theater and opera professionals to kids and total beginners.

My goal is to help you find the power to express through singing your unique self. It doesn't matter whether your voice is professional quality or whether it's even "good" in the conventional sense. It's YOUR voice. It has its own sound and characteristics, its own particular beauty, and the world needs to hear you!

I have advanced training and expertise in the function of the voice, but the most important qualities I offer as a teacher are the simple human ones: understanding, patience, imagination, kindness, enthusiasm, respectfulness and absolute commitment to helping you meet your vocal goals.

Our ultimate goal as a singer is communication, and developing a healthy technique enables us to express freely! Whether you're singing on the stage professionally, or in front of friends and family, the goal is still the same- to sing your very best- and the tools we will build together will last a lifetime! Healthy Belt and Legit Singing will be addressed as well as many styles which are present in Musicals past and present.

Beginner- Exploring the vast canon of musical theater to find your personal niche, beginning singing technique appropriate to show tunes, and learning how to let go of self-consciousness so it's fun to sing in front of others!

Intermediate- Building your repertoire and audition options, adding skills to your technique, learning how to appropriately act the song.

Advanced- Refining skills and technique, focus on performance.

25 years of teaching voice has given me the joy of helping singers of all ages and abilities realize their full vocal potential. As a vocal technician, my approach to teaching is based on the principles of vocal science, as well as my own proven theories. My students not only increase their range, vocal strength and develop a better tone, many of them have gone on to perform in major theaters throughout the nation. Whether you are a musical theater, opera, rock, jazz or pop singer, my technique will help you trust your voice and free you to be creatively expressive.

Singing lessons are tailored to match student goals and interests while providing technical challenges. I specialize in musical theater, praise/worship, and popular styles. I also have experience teaching jazz, classical, and songwriting techniques. Music lessons should be fun! But lessons also need to focus on growing students beyond their comfort zones. As a professional pop/rock singer songwriter and musical theatre performer, I love infusing my teaching with techniques, warm ups, and insights that I've learned over the past few years (and even use myself). I have a BFA in Musical Theatre and have taught beginning piano and voice for the past year.
