It was my first lesson, but he's definitely demonstrated his knowledge of the voice as an instrument and seems able and willing to impart his skills on others. Looking forward to continuing classes with him.

I am (was?) a total newbie to singing, but I've taken extensive lessons with multiple teachers in other arts before, so I've at least got an idea of what good teaching should feel like.

Timothy is a very, very good teacher. Extremely knowledgeable. Keeps the lesson moving while still providing excellent feedback. Very patient as well. Highly recommend.

Stella was so excited for her lesson with Rebecca, she can't wait for the next one...she loved it!

The first session was great. Rebecca was warm, kind and natural. She wanted to form a solid foundation by asking my daughter about her interest, what she wanted to learn, the artist she likes and let her sing to have an understanding of her vocal skills. We are excited to work with Rebecca as my daughter loved her. Totally recommend her to both kids and adults.

Alyssa is an upbeat, encouraging, and patient teacher. Her own singing voice is beautiful, and she sings very professionally in a wide range of genres. "Excellent instructor with an emphasis on proper breathing and technique. He is incredibly knowledgeable and conveys tips about vocal placement and breath control in a way that "clicks" with me. I'm an experienced classically trained singer who was looking for a professional to help me refine my instrument and correct some technique issues. I am thankful to have found this instructor. 5 stars!"

"I'm almost afraid to write this review lest Asuka's schedule gets totally filled with new students:) I started lessons with Asuka Nov 22 as a beginner and by January 15 the notes I could sing increased by an octave.

My high C/C6 came by early December, a couple of weeks after starting with Asuka. Some of this is my voice type, but I believe anyone who works with Asuka will see improvement.

I am taking lessons with a well-regarded pop teacher from the same time period and I've developed almost entirely from Asuka's lessons vs the other teacher, and quickly too with consistent practice. What Asuka teachers carries over to non-classical singing also.

Asuka is not rigid in her approach, thankfully, and she is so nice about the million things beginner singers can correct. I don't feel embarassed singing in front of her because she is non-judgmental.

I did some online lessons when she was traveling, and I got just as much out of them so even if I leave New York I will continue working with her."

"I am so thankful for Maria. Coming out of college I didn't quite know what to do. I began taking lessons with Maria based on a referral but honestly wasn't expecting much. I will always feel horrible about that because she is the best thing that could have happened to me. I've grown more in the past two years than I did for the 5 years in undergrad. I've been offered a full ride to University of Houston next year but I will continue to sing her praises and work with her whenever I am back in town. I'm dreading that our last lesson is approaching because I couldn't have gotten where I am without her."

is a complete opera singer, with a great background and stage experience. Is awesome the way he conducts the lesson, explaining all we need, how many times we need. When he gives an example, we can feel this solid technique, and art of singing.
Thank you Maestro"

"I am a retired opera singer that has studied with some of the best teachers and coaches in the world. Most of the year, my husband and I are in the South of France, but when in town, I still try stay sharp and perform at recitals. Asuka has introduced me to new singing techniques which have allowed me to preserve my voice at my age, while maintaining strength. It's really refreshing to learn new techniques that some of the older teachers don't know about. It has done a world of good as my voice doesn't get tired anymore."

8 Beautiful Opera Arias for Beginner Singers

It is always exciting when a vocal student is ready to start studying his or her first operatic aria! One of the best things about being a classical singer is knowing you have so many great years ahead of you. After all, you’re considered in your prime in your 40s. That being said, realize that the voice you have now and the repertoire you’ll first study will be very, very different from what you sing later on in your career. It’s absolutely crucial that you sing repertoire that is …
