Linda has such a wonderful approach to teaching that I find truly refreshing! Such an incredibly patient person who has a wealth of knowledge of Opera and Musical Theatre! I've been singing for 5 plus years but Linda really opened up my possibilities and my confidence.

I am a college student majoring in sound studies who wants to go into musical theatre. Linda is kind, patient, and KNOWLEDGEABLE teacher that helped me with problems that I was having with my technique. She helped me bring my singing to the next level. I can’t help, but recommend her to everyone looking to better their singing no matter the level you’re at. At first a bit skeptical about lessons online with my internet, but after taking lessons with her I realized there was nothing to worry about when you’re learning with Linda!!

Hi! Welcome to my TakeLessons page, where I provide information about my background and teaching services.

I am an experienced performing artist and teacher that works in New York and regionally. My music students include children, working professionals, performing artists, and seniors. I attended Barnard College, Columbia University, and Maggie Flanigan's acting conservatory program. My training at Columbia University and with private instructors focused on classical repertoire and theory, but I also work with students on popular music (i.e.Pop, R&B, Electronica, and Folk). Music theory (i.e. sight reading, chord progressions) and practices from Linklater, Alexander, Williamson movement, and Art of Practicing techniques are incorporated into my music instruction.

30 minute-lessons are available for children aged 5-6 only while 60-minute lessons are available for students above the age of 6. Prospective students may sign up to take a trial lesson with me at first to see if we ...

I have never continued with voice lessons, I enjoyed the experience so much that I'm going to kick the bad habit of smoking and sit down and seriously figure my finances out to continue being taught by her. I cannot express enough how much fun I had...no pressure Nikole if you read this...lol

Ms Schwarz is a great teacher for my son. She uses Suzuki methods to teach, and is very clear about her expectations for my son in his lessons, and for practicing. He loves his cello lessons.
Jonathan
As a student older than Emma, I was a bit concerned about her ability to teach an adult and our ability to connect. That apprehension went away about half way through the first lesson. Age wasn't an issue at all -- either way. It was a pure student - teacher relationship and I am making great progress under Emma's guidance. I very much enjoy our lessons and I believe I am getting better every week.
Marie
My 10 year old daughter has been taking lessons with Emma for almost a year. Emma is very professional, on point, always prepared and never late. She strikes the right balance of encouragement and challenge. I have noticed my daughter's improvement is all areas of academics, discipline, social interactions, patience and self-esteem because of Emma's influence. Emma has a firm hand and demands that my daughter be prepared and ready and willing to learn. She has also established a great personal rapport with my daughter, who looks up to Emma as a role model. I could not recommend her enough for her professionalism, preparedness, and personal investment in my daughter's cello journey.

I'm glad I found Paul on takelessons.com. I was looking for someone to help me take my decent but untrained voice to the next level. Paul is committed to helping me advance toward my goal of being a singer-songwriter. In addition to the exercises we work on to strengthen my voice and gain control, he has given me some strategies to track my progress and improve more quickly. He also encourages me to take risks and go out and sing karaoke. He is caring and authentic and genuinely invested in my growth, and I am becoming a better musician because of it. Thank you, Paul!!

My goal as a teacher is to give you the facility to express yourself through music. The key parts to developing this facility are:

1. theory -- if you know your theory, you know the best way to express your idea without having to think about it
2. technique -- the last thing you want is for your technique to hinder your ability to express your idea. Having good technique lets your ideas flow naturally

When you take lessons with me, you get out of it what you put in. Your job as student is to be honest with what you expect to achieve and my job as teacher is to give you the tools to achieve it

About David

I am a bass player first, not a guitarist who also teaches bass. Students will learn technique, theory and groove from a teacher who understands that as bass players, we are in a unique position. Since bass is both a harmony and rhythm instrument we have the opportunity to develop into leaders in

David was very patient and thorough with the introductory lesson. He corrected some basic habits my son had and had him sounding better in 10 minutes.

He also had practical recommendations for daily practice.

I highly recommend David.

David went over basic music theory and rhythm with me, and corrected some technique issues. He explained things clearly and when we put some of it into practice in the final minutes I saw instant results. Absolutely excited to do my homework and for my next lesson.
Robert F.
As a beginning, self-taught bass player of four months, I wanted to find a teacher who could analyze and critique my playing. I scheduled five lessons with David over a time period of three months. David was instrumental in analyzing and critiquing bad techniques and habits I acquired. He very thoroughly emphasized proper fretting technique and finger positioning; exercises were given that helped me obtain full tonal quality and efficient fretboard navigation skills. We also reviewed basic theory, scale modes, rhythmic weight, pentatonics and arpeggios; seminal knowledge for the beginner.

A technical type player, David has excellent playing skills as well as a comprehensive knowledge of theory and its practical application. He is a good listener and showed a genuine interest in helping me achieve my goals. I definitely can see an improvement in my playing skills....playing more confidently and efficiently.

Highly recommended.......

He taught her the basics of beat and rhythm, proper piano technique and practice methods, all within her young abilities (she started with him around 4 1/2 years old). He was also extremely patient but firm when she got wiggly and tired. He was also always on time and easy to work with."

"I have been taking guitar lessons from Steve for several years. He has taught me electric as well as acoustic guitar. It's a pleasure to go see him and work with him every week. He is very patient with my slow fingers and always tries to help in any way he can. He has a recording studio setup that allows us to do just about anything, from recording songs from scratch, to using "minus-one" prerecorded tracks to record versions of popular songs. Taking lessons with Steve has really changed the way I listen to music - now I am amazed about all the steps artists take to put together a song. I would highly recommend Steve, he's a great teacher and a great person."

"I recently began singing again after a year and was very unconfident in my voice and my ability to improve. Albino was the perfect instructor for someone like me because of his patience and positivity. He was able to point out issues with my singing technique or provide feedback in a very positive way, without seeming critical. Whenever I was confused about something, he would work with me non-stop until I understood. Albino inspires confidence in all his students, and I highly recommend him as a teacher!"

What Are Some Singing Software Options, and Can They Help Me?

The human voice is the most expressive “instrument” in the orchestra of sound that is music. Nothing can express or invoke the emotions of the listener like a beautiful voice! Of course, developing your vocal ability takes time and practice. It’s important to understand and develop proper breathing technique, pitch recognition, and range. The traditional method of learning to sing is to study with a qualified vocal teacher. A good teacher understands their students' strengths and weakness …
