I am a current principal ballet dancer with the San Diego Ballet, where I have been dancing for the past 14 years and 9 years as principal dancer. Prior to that I was a member of the Houston Ballet II. My teaching is based on my background of both the Chechetti Method and The French Method. I have the unique ability to be able to share as a professional ballet dancer what it takes to get to the highest level. I teach all levels, and all ages. I have been teaching in schools all over Southern Calfiornia for the past 14 years, and I am the artistic director of the San Diego Ballet Summer Intensive. My classes include: * Barre work, * Floor barre, * Stretching/strengething, * Body conditioning, * Center work, * Pointe work, * Variations. I make sure in my lessons to share everything I have learned over my 30 years of dancing both in training and professionally. I specialize in finding exactly what each dancer needs to improve. I know that everyone has different needs and I mold my lessons with that in mind. Each dancer gets a personalized lesson, no two are the same. I also love to help with building confidence in each dancer. Ballet is an important art, and my goal is to help pass it on to anyone who wants to learn.
I am a teacher of 13 years and I love what I do! Ballet is a great workout in addition to being the foundation for all technical dance. It's a great place to start and always to come back to. Ballet has many benefits to offer students at every level, which is why even Pro football players take it! Through ballet lessons with me, you will stabilize find better balance and control, strengthen, tone, and elongate your muscles, have increased flexibility and mobilization, improve your coordination and confidence, and much more. My ballet lessons cover basics of posture, placement, alignment, and turnout. We begin practicing essentials such as positions, plies, tendus, pirouettes and more. Once the student shows proficiency in these basics, we move into more advanced movement and choreography. There is strong focus on technical precision and skill to ensure students are learning the correct foundation so they get the maximum benefit out of their ballet lessons. Lessons may include barre (chair) or floor barre warm-up, stretching, conditioning, across the floor and more. Since ballet is the foundation of all technical dance, it is the first place you should start if you’re looking to learn other styles of dance or even continue dancing on a more professional level. It is also the best training to revisit, as even it’s most basic exercises can always help improve technique. This makes ballet a great style of dance and exercise to practice at any age and level. You will feel your physical progress and be left with a sense of overall well-being, as well as see your improvements and accomplishment as a dancer.
