Experienced guitar teacher of 7 years available for eager students of all experience levels! My philosophy and teaching style is generally dependent upon their individual needs of the student. I structure my lessons so students learn what they want to learn, while also building a strong foundation the basics in technique (strumming, picking, hand technique, rhythm) harmony and theory. I specialize in heavy metal rock and experimental music, typically use Hal Leonard books, and also have the following tools available to use during lessons: sound recording equipment, tablature, sheet music and more.

I have been playing guitar for about 25 years and teaching for about seven years now. I played in a punk/rock band in high school and have since studied classical and jazz guitar. Currently I write and perform songs in a folk/acoustic style.

I studied classical guitar at the University of Central Florida, performing solo and ensemble repertoire. I can teach proper technique with both hands, music notation, tablature, sight reading, harmonic theory, and how to realize "orchestral" compositions.

I can teach shredding lead guitar riffs or strumming rhythm (typically acoustic) guitar. Whatever genre or style you're into, and whatever skill level you find yourself - I can help you play the songs you love.

About Gio
I studied music at UCF (Orlando), focusing on classical and jazz guitar, but I also have years of experience playing rock, blues, folk, hip-hop, and musical theater on both guitar and drums.

I have been teaching guitar, drums, and piano for about eight years to students of all ages. Music is what I'm passionate about and it's what I enjoy. I want to inspire that same passion into the hearts and minds of others.

*** Lesson Details ***
I am a laid-back teacher, fun, and I focus on the needs, abilities, and ambitions of the student. In turn, students must realize that learning an instrument takes a lot of work and dedication. One can't expect to learn very much if s/he only practices or thinks about the instrument during the lesson. If the student is willing to put some time into practicing, then I will help them go far!

*** Studi
o Equipment ***
I have several guitars, a drum kit, djembe, mandolin, clarinet and full-size keyboard.

*** Specialties ***
Guitar: Classical, jazz, American or Irish folk, rock and pop; lead or rhythm.
Drums & Percussion: All genres
Piano: Classical (includes sight reading)

I started playing acoustic guitar when I was seven years old. I have been playing and teaching mostly bluegrass, old time, Irish, blues, and swing jazz styles for many years. I have taught both privately and have also done various workshops at festivals. I have taught guitar multiple years for instance at the Gettysburg Bluegrass Festival in PA.
My students learn to have fun with music. Students can work on rhythms, melodies, improvisation, song writing, getting into and/or hanging on in a jam session, etc.

About Tara
I have a Masters in Education as well as having spent many years performing, teaching in one on one and group settings both privately and at music camps and festivals. I play and teach bluegrass, old time, Irish, and swing jazz styles. I like my students to really enjoy playing music and their lessons as well as learning to become fluent in the language of music. It is not required that folks learn to read music necessarily, but it can be a part of the lessons if desired. I love to see my students able to continue learning and playing on their own, be able to hold their own at jams and on the stage is they so desire, or just enjoy making music for themselves. I have techniques that have proven effective to help get past jam phobia, that help folks learn to improvise who have not had any luck with doing so before, and help getting away fro
m sheet music addictions to be able to have fun and confidence out at jams. I also can give a good foundation in music theory as it applies to one's actual playing and have it be fun and make sense.

I fully customize my lessons for the individual student!

About Chris
My name is Chris B. and I've been playing music for most of my life.

The best lesson that I've personally learned is that a musician is never done learning. Once you start believing that you know everything there is to know about your instrument then you've stopped growing musically. Personally, I've also learned that I enjoy sharing my knowledge of music with others and exposing students to new techniques and concepts.

I strongly believe that these traits are the most important aspects of teaching music to others. No matter how advanced my playing skills might progress, I’ll always be able to relate to any type of student because I’m still learning something new everyday!

I've been taking lessons from Chris for 2 months now. He's exceptional in his teaching methods and makes each lesson enjoyable. I'm a beginner and learning my first chorded song. He's been excellent at taking his time and breaking the song down to where I feel comfortable playing.
He's easily reached by email, and has sent me audio files of himself playing the song we're working on to help me with my practice. I leave my lessons pumped and excited to play. I highly recommend him!!

I had my second lesson with Chris today. He's exactly the type of teacher I've searched for. He's very easy going and optimistic. I appreciate the fact he grabs his guitar and plays along with me, it makes learning rhythm so much easier for someone who learns by seeing and following along. I highly recommend him.

The first thing I do when I meet a student is to interview the student and find out why they want to learn how to play the guitar and what are some of their goals. Then I find out what style of music they would like to learn. I have the student come up with ten songs they would like to learn. I take this information and structure future guitar lessons around the essential elements of these songs. I design each lesson to teach the specific skills required to learn those songs. I create all of the guitar lessons to meet each students individual needs that include lessons on theory, technique, rhythm, chords, scales, riffs, arpeggio's, songs, and exercises etc. I break down songs into easy digestible parts so students can learn a song in a logical and most manageable way. I use a color coded method to teach that I created that help students not only learn and understand scales and chords but also they are able to see visually how scales and chords are created. I currently teach private guitar lessons and have worked for 12 years in our local schools as a teacher with students K through 12. For 2 years, from 2012 to 2014 I taught an after-school enrichment guitar and songwriting class. I created the curriculum and music workbook specifically for 6 and 7-year old children whom I taught at Pequenakonck Elementary School in North Salem, NY. In College I won an award for the most Improved Studio Composition Student at Purchase College. I incorporate lessons that I have learned in the classroom as a teacher to help my guitar students learn. I feel the most important thing for my students to learn about music is to have a lot of fun.

Steve is a natural teacher. He is very methodical and demanding but also knows how to intrigue a newbie. He was able to engage my 9 year old daughter and at the same time he kept her challenged. She has learned so much in just 5 lessons. Most importantly, she now has the confidence and desire to attempt to develop her newly acquired skills on her own.

Guitar lessons are a fun, laid-back, and encouraging experience for anyone to pursue. My lessons are specifically designed to accomplish the goals of the student, whether it's as simple as playing along with your favorite songs, or obtaining the musical foundation to begin writing your own songs. Former students have thanked me for being laid-back, non-rigid, and down to earth. My diverse musical background lets me offer students of any genre a fast track to learning the skills they desire, and having fun along the way as well!

About Nikolas
With 10 years of live band experience, 8 years of music composition, and 7 years of teaching guitar, I offer vast expertise and a large musical background for very affordable rates! My lessons are described by former/current students as being laid-back, detail-oriented, and very encouraging. My students range in age from 8 years old to adults in their 30's. You can always learn something new!

Most of my musical experience has entailed Rock, Indie-Rock, Blues, Acoustic, Bossa Nova, and Experimental/Contemporary. If students are looking to expand into a genre which I am not necessarily familiar with, I am always able to examine and learn the material myself in order to pass along to the student.

My students always decide the curriculum and pace which they would like their lessons to held at. I make sure to break the lesson down into simp
le, fundamental bullet points so that students do not find themselves lost or confused. Overall, my combination of friendly attitude and communication skills means that all my students get a lesson they enjoy, remember, and improve with.
