I am a brass specialist. My main instrument is trombone, but I have been effectively working with brass players of all types for years. I will be happy to help you achieve your goals and also offer small group ensembles with other instrumentalists in addition to private lessons!

I have taught brass students for 25 years including trumpet, euphonium, trombone, french horn, and tuba. If you are starting or taking the next steps in your tuba playing I would love to help.

Relatable and experienced Trombone and Brass teacher looking for beginner/intermediate level students! All ages welcome, no one is too young or too old to learn as long as you like music and want to learn your instrument. We will set goals together based on how YOU want to sound and what music YOU want to play. I will do my best to offer you the knowledge and experience I have while relating it to other concepts/experiences you already possess. In lessons, you can expect to work on tone, embouchure, breathing, rhythms, lip slurs, etc.

Once we have a handle on the basics, I'll arrange music hand tailored for my student based on what music they like to listen to! I've done music for students all ages and many genres. A few examples of favorites are The Polar Express movie soundtrack music, Back to the Future soundtrack, Bad guy by Billie Ellish, We Are Number One from Lazy Town, and many others.

I teach absolute beginners, intermediate and advanced students. I work with them on technique, strong fundamentals, sound production and the repertoire of band and orchestra music.

I have been teaching for 10 years in private lessons, music camps, and music clinics in Michigan and the metro DC area. I so enjoy teaching brass students how to gain better control of their musical expression through honing skills in technique, emoting, and general music knowledge. I can assist in preparing for play tests, auditions, solo performances and overall gaining a better grasp of any literature or method material. More than that I love coming together to enjoy playing music and growing as players. I am in awe hearing musical voices develop and become more articulate in expressing how they see the world through music.
A bit about myself, I graduated from Pennsylvania State University with a bachelor’s degree in music. I also attended Eastern Michigan University for three years before transferring to Penn State where I finished my degree.
