Private Drum Teacher

As an educator, I strive to provide my students with the tools that they will need to explore the direction that they want to take with their instrument. This can include from enjoying drumming as a hobby, performing in small jazz ensembles, recording electronic and acoustic drums in major recording studios, to performing with a full orchestra! There is literally no limit to what you can do.

My focus is to get hobbyists to enjoy performing drums in the comfort of their own home or with friends, and to have my professionally-minded students go out into the world of performing and recording music. All of these environments are where the ultimate joy of playing an instrument can be expressed.

As a gigging and studio musicians, I understand what it takes to get to the stage or studio, apply oneself in that environment, and come away with a satisfying experience that you can then build upon for the rest of your life.

About James

Hi! I have been a drumset educator for over 3 decades. I benefited from formal education on the drumset, and I want to pass that along to you so you can experience the full joy that this wonderful instrument can bring you! I understand that each student's journey is specific to them as an individua

Jim has been a fantastic teacher to our son. He explains everything patiently and approaches his lessons very systematically. He selects songs that incorporate essential drumming skills (e.g. songs that include doubles, paradiddles, accented notes, etc.). This way, the the student is able to develop an understanding of how theory fits practice.

Private Drum Teacher

As an NYC native, I have been teaching drum lessons for almost 7 years. Born in lower Manhattan, I attended Manhattan East Middle School for Music & Arts, as well as Fiorello H. LaGuardia High School for Music & Art and the Performing Arts. In 2012, I received a scholarship to attend New England Conservatory of Music where I had the opportunity to study privately with master musicians such as John McNeil, Bob Moses, Miguel Zenon, Jerry Bergonzi and a lengthy apprenticeship with drum legend Billy Hart. In 2014 I received a full scholarship to attend the Banff International Workshop in Jazz and Creative Music in Canada. I was fortunate enough to be able to work closely there with first- rate artists such as Vijay Iyer, Steve Coleman, Jeff “Tain” Watts, Reggie Workman and more. I have been a private drum lesson instructor since high school, and have taught dozens of students of all ages, skill levels, and in all styles of music. In addition to private lessons, I have taught workshops and

Russell is a great teacher. He is able to clearly write out the grooves or rudimentary exercises on music paper and have you practice them in creative ways. Russell can play any drum style (rock, jazz, blues, progressive etc) and has a calm and confident demeanor. I would hire him again.... and do.

My teaching style is very flexible & hands on. My goal is to make beautiful music and I do this by taking technical exercises and giving them musical meaning. This means I focus on the ideas of time, vocabulary & dynamic playings, but within this still teaching essential technical exercises in order to create a well-rounded musician.

After each lesson I will email detailed notes, as well as any supplemental documents and/or music.

This was my first experience with on line teaching and it was great. I had tried reading the books and watching some videos on You Tube and was not making progress. Just a few minutes with Paul and what I couldn't figure out suddenly made sense.

Looking forward to next week.

My son loves his lessons, he gets really nervous prior because he always wants to get it right however, he likes the fact he’s at home and no one is watching him as he’s learning! As his parents we like that as a military family that will be moving again this is something that we can keep normal for him since it’s done online as well! Paul Neatherly is wonderful with him as well and very patient! I recommend this service and Paul to anyone looking for this type of learning!

Online Drum Teacher

Teaching students how to play with bands and read music are both important. I've played over 27 years and taught over 17 of those years. Grooves, coordination, reading and soloing are all aspects of what I teach from mostly my own books. I combine having fun with the commitment of practicing into a well rounded learning experience. I have recitals for students to show off their talents 1-2 times yearly. I'm versatile in teaching new drummers or advanced students. I look forward to our lessons.

About Danny

I've played drums about 30 years and taught lessons about 20 of those years. Each student is different and I've evolved my lessons to accommodate teaching each student. My background consists of all styles of Drumset, marching band, rock bands, soloing and Troopers drum corps. Also playing in jazz,

"Has a great deal of knowledge on overall music history and how percussion has developed through each of its stages. Appropriates style according to the interest of desired drummer and can demonstrate the relationships between student's preferred styles and how they relate to others. As a student this is very important because of its role in the development of ones own technique and style and how one can build on whats been done before."

Drum Sticking Stars: 10 Celebrities Who Play Drums

In the age of reality television, talent isn’t always a prerequisite to stardom, but some of today’s celebrities are legitimately multi-talented -- and some of them are even drummers. Here are 10 celebrities who play drums. 1. Miles Teller If you saw Miles Teller play drums in "Whiplash", you probably thought he had a double, or that the filmmakers used camera tricks or CGI, but that was actually the actor playing the drums.
