Flamenco guitar lessons with Raphael are unique because he grew up, and studied in Spain. And knows all the secrets that you can only learn by living, and working with some of the best Flamenco artists of today. He can teach you how to accompany singing, and how to accompany dancers. As well as teaching full solo pieces. He has been playing guitar for over 25 years, and has toured the world. As well as playing in the opening ceremonies in Barcelona for the 1992 Olympics. He has worked artists such as El Farruquito, El Toromb, and El Manzanita. Just to mention a few. Raphael also speaks Spanish, German, and English. And is a very patient teacher, and gives great attention to detail.
About raphael
Hi! My name is Raphael, and I am a Flamenco guitarist. I've been playing for over 25 years, and lived in Spain for over 10 years. I have had the pleasure of traveling the world playing guitar and working with some of the best Flamenco artists from Spain, as well as here in the U.S. I am a full ti

1. He is extremely patient - but at the same time points out when you are not in compas. If you have played flamenco before you know how important it is to get that correct - and he holds you accountable to the compas which is very helpful.
2. He intermixes exercises and falsetas in a helpful way. My fear with flamenco is that I wind up with a lot of falsetas that I can't really play right. Raphael is not afraid of giving you some exercises to grind on to get your techniques and timing up to par.
3. He is well connected in the NY flamenco world so you know what is happening and can hear a lot of flamenco out in the city.
My experience has been delightful. If you are looking to learn flamenco guitar and want to sound authentic and in compas- I would recommend Raphael unreservedly. Also he is a great guy to spend time with which is always a plus!
Don't miss the opportunity to work with him!

I don't consider myself a Flamenco Guitarist but I'm schooled for over 5 years in the techniques and styles. I love the music and as an excellent teacher I have an excellent method from my own guitar master that will get you going on your way. If you stay with Flamenco to a certain level, I'll try to help you find a teacher that would really specialize in advanced playing

I am an entirely self taught blues/rock guitarist with experience playin in bands. I have an approach to teaching that is different from many regulay teachers. Being self taught, i have learned from trial and error how to keep inspiration while practicing techniques. In my opinion, the biggest setback for most future guitarists is lack of interest/inspiration wich is the direct result of poor teaching and unnecessary lessons.
About Kevin
I am entirely self taught through trial and error. I have a very simplistic way of thinking about music that is very effective for teaching. In my opinion, the biggest detriment to learning musicians is getting overwhelmed by the vastness of music.

David is patient, he does an excellent job explaining things and goes above and beyond to make sure that you're really learning. Consistently impressed."
Accompanying this was a video of our lesson for my reference and an informative blog note pertaining to the art of practice.
Throughout all Diego had a courteous manner, was receptive of my questions and gave me notes by email about what we had discussed along with practice suggestions. Look forward to continuing with him.

Beyond his obvious expertise —reason enough to seek out his teaching!—Raphael is patient, highly attentive teacher, with an excellent (and fast!) eye for details... As well, he’s a very, very nice guy!"

I am probably one of Ed's more challenging students due to my hectic schedule which interferes with my practice time but we have covered a lot of ground studying basic techniques and styles such as Flamenco, Rumba, Bulerias, Sevillanas, and Tango. Ed is always prepared and is uncannily able to pick up our lessons exactly where we left off the week before. He is able to diagnose problems with technique and work with me to correct them and suggest practice methods to improve technique and the musicality of the performance. Fortunately I have many technical issues so Ed will be gainfully employed for some time on my account!
Ed performs regularly and has a large repertoire in popular music as well as flamenco guitar. I have seen him perform with a flamenco dance group and he was brilliant. I asked him to perform at a small event I helped organize and his performance was enjoyed by all. I highly recommend Ed as a flamenco guitar instructor or as a performer."
