After speaking to multiple tutoring companies, we discovered Matthew. Matthew was very professional and made my son feel comfortable. They had a total of 5 tutoring sessions covering Math, English, Science and Reading. My son took the ACT after his tutoring sessions and scored a 23. We were very pleased with the progress our son made by going from an ACT score of 19 to 23 after only 5 sessions with Matthew. I would highly recommend Matthew J. Horwich to anyone needing tutoring.

Matthew explained his approach to coaching and the plan so we were able to make an educated choice on the best tutor for our son. Matthew was responsive, organized and worked very well with our son. He communicated directly with our son and cc:ed me so that I was aware of the plan and f/u. His scores did improve on the SAT and we were pleased with the investment.

Matt has been awesome for my student. His math skills have improved greatly, and his writing has come from illegible to what can now be described as neat and readable. Matt has been very patient and deliberate with our son and has taken the time to really explain things to Jake in a way he can understand. We would recommend this tutor to any parent looking for a tutor for their grammar school student! Matt is also reliable and prompt and showed up when expected which was helpful with our very busy schedules.
I've been teaching Saxophone for 15 years and my students have gone on to College, and other performing goals.I use a variety of books from the typical book you would use as a student in a band program to a more advanced method for other players. Each student is different so I try to evolve to meet their specific needs and learning styles. I love working with students of all ages and experience levels and I can't wait to meet you! I plan and offer yearly student performances to give students a practical application to their instruction.
Hello, My name is Michael and Im excited to meet you! I've been teaching private & Professional lessons since 1997! I love helping students accomplish their goals like, getting into college, hit auditions, and more, but above all I love to inspire the love of Music and Performance Arts!
Throughout my professional career I have toured and played with bands such as Soul Fire, 3 Door Down, and others, and have performed for companies such as 4 County Players in Virginia, Busch Gardens Williamsburg, and Carolina Players in NC. I play multiple instruments from woodwinds, brass, to guitar, mandolin, violin and have training in singing and vocal training and more!
I use a number of established teaching methods to instruct my studies as well as my own methods that I have perfected through my 18+ years of teaching. My philosophy is that
it is important to stay fluid and adjust to each student's learning style to create successful students at any age from 3 to 100!
My only goal is to help you reach yours!

I am an adult who has no experience with any type of instrument and was very nervous and intimidated at first. Then I met with Michael, and though there was a ton of information we had to go through, he really made me feel at ease. He has the knowledge, patience, and understanding I was really looking for in a teacher and I'm so happy I found him!

With his flexibility and willingness to accommodate us my daughter learned a lot from him. He was a wonderful teacher and a great person to do business with.

Michael is very energetic and passionate about music. My kids have really enjoyed their time with him and we would recommend him to anyone!
I specialize in Jazz Saxophone, but also am very fluent and familiar with the classical world as well. One huge plus that my saxophone students have is that I can accompany them on piano. This makes lessons in jazz improvisation much more effective. I focus on fundamental skills such as sight reading, technique, jazz and classical theory, improvisation and composition. I also make recordings for my students on request. I have worked with multiple wind ensembles and jazz bands in the past, and can help polish up ensemble music.
Joey Earnest is a Southern California musician and educator who specializes in keyboard, saxophone, composition, and production. In addition to teaching private music lessons, he teaches several rock and jazz history courses at Mesa College. He received a BM in Jazz Studies: Saxophone Performance from UC Irvine, an MM in Composition from San Diego State University, and an MA in Education from National University. Joey also produces and composes electro-acoustic music under the pseudonym, M_NKY. His compositions and improvisations are influenced by Jazz, European Classical, Experimental Electronic Music, Drum & Bass, Reggae, Rock, R & B, Hip-Hop, Indian Classical, Native American, Appalachian Folk, Afro-Cuban, and many more genres of music. Joey can be heard performing in and around San Diego with his band, The Munks.
Joey teaches music
lessons for piano, saxophone, composition, and production. He has taught all levels and ages for over 10 years. Joey has been playing the saxophone and piano for over 20 years. In addition to working as an adjunct professor at Mesa College, Joey has coached saxophone at Westview and Mt. Carmel High School, and taught college level courses in electronic music and music production at SDSU. Joey has a very adaptable approach when he teaches. He understands that all students have very different learning styles and interests. His broad range of musical and educational training allows his students to learn many styles and genres of music while understanding fundamentals like theory and technique. Students will be empowered to hone their craft as an instrumentalist, composer, producer, artist, or all of the above.
We love joey!!! He's a great teacher because he teaches the way that is right for the student. He comes to our house twice a week to teach our 5-year-old son, who wasn't particularly interested in learning the songs from the book, scales, etc, so Joey changed it up to make it fun for him by focusing on making up songs and improvising (while still sneaking in some of the technical stuff). Our son looks forward to his lessons so much! Joey is obviously a masterful pianist and could teach at any skill level.

Joey is a gifted musician and even more gifted teacher. My 14 year old has been taking piano lessons with Joey for about eighteen months now. We lived in San Diego for a year and my son started in person with him for close to ten months. Joey's teaching style and connection with my son was so effective that we decided to continue lessons via Skype. My son is a highly gifted kid for whom lots of learning comes easily. Not so with music, but he is inspired and motivated by Joey. Joey's ability to meet the learner where they are and push them beyond their normal comfort zone is impressive. I am very, very glad that we found him. Joey's teaching style is engaging and encouraging while holding the learner accountable to practice, development, and growth. I wholeheartedly recommend him for both in person and online lessons.

Joey has been teaching piano to our now 8 and 11 yo boys for more than a year. Although my kids aren't musical per say and don't tend to practice during the week, thanks to Joey their piano skills are impressive! Without ignoring the theory, Joey was able to adapt his teaching style to their personalities and has taught them to play their favorite songs. My younger son was so excited to to learn Fall out Boy's "Centuries" he would run to the piano to practice! Both boys are clearly proud of their accomplishments and love to show them off to their friends. Thank you Joey!
We will go through a method book to go through the fundamentals of playing sax and will supplement it with ear training and music theory. We will learn any song that you want to! From a TV show, video game, movie, or anything else as it is very important to have fun with what you are playing. We will play duets and have a great time while becoming a better musician!
I attended West Chester University from 2011-2015 and graduated with my bachleor's in music education. I performed in the marching band, symphonic band, wind ensemble, jazz ensembles, various trumpet ensembles, and a brass quintet. One of my trumpet ensembles made it to the semifinals in the National Trumpet Competition. I backed up various world famous trumpet artists during the International Trumpet Guild Conference at Valley Forge in 2014 such as Bobby Shew, Randy Brecker, Tine Thing Helseth, Canadian Brass, and many others. I took lessons from Robert Skoniczin and Jean Christophe Dobrzelewski during my time at WCU.
I can teach any style that you are interested in and can take students of all ages. I believe it is important to have a good musical foundation so we will go over music theory as well in lessons. I have extensive experie
nce teaching trumpet, guitar, piano, bass, ukulele, and saxophone. We will play whichever style of music you prefer. Lessons will be fun!
He explains everything to you. If you need help or if you don't get it he makes sure you know it before you move on.

Matt is a fantastic instructor. Polite, knowledgeable and very encouraging. He was very patient with me and that fact that I am challenged breathing as a result of an accident. I hope I am able to continue. No reservation in recommending.
What kind of music do you like? Have you tried learning music from a method book and just didn't have fun? Over the past 5 years of teaching several instruments I have developed a system of learning songs that YOU love and learn what music is about. With the songs you want to learn, we talk about articulation, intonation, and many exercises to help you become better. We can talk about reed care, instrument care as well!
I am a professional Saxophone, Clarinet, and Flute player. I have been composing my own music for video games and short films, and working as a mixing engineer for a couple years now, just really exploring many different aspects of music. I have a degree from Utah Valley University in Commercial Music, and spent most of that degree on the performance aspect of music.
My Saxophone students can expect some of the fun and some of the practical. We will be working on articulation, tone production, intonation, breathing, different forms of vibrato and many other aspects of control over the saxophone while learning songs that you as the student want to learn.
I have been taking piano lessons for 15 years, and turning around and teaching the techniques and abilities to my students have been really fun! We work on the fundamentals, but we
focus on learning cool songs and do things that few other instruments can do.
I have a lot of fun with music theory. I try to be practical in what students need to know, but can teach much more. I have a jazz background and can teach jazz theory, including comping and improvisation.
He was really nice and explained in a very easy way.

Brandon is fantastic. I don't know that he's ever given me a word of bad advice, and has been a HUGE help in getting my career as a producer and narrator off the ground. He's incredibly knowledgeable and skillful, and my experiences in both hiring him and learning from him have been absolutely fantastic. I would heartily recommend him!
Sound is the key. Developing and nurturing a solid sound opens up all other aspects of music. Once we have a solid sound we can depend on everything we play is more effective. I teach basic musicianship along with advanced sound production techniques. Spontaneous creation and composition. I can help you freely improvise in any situation and become a functionary player as well as a soloist.
I have been playing the saxophone fro 45 years. I think its all about the sound, the tone. I played with the Microscopic Septet and William Parker's Little Huey Creative Music Orchestra.
Dave is a great teacher and I would recommend him to anyone who asks :)
He's flexible (in both scheduling and teaching) and adapts to whatever the student needs or wants.
May 4, 2019
Dave was my first saxophone teacher and I am still seeing his insights and working on his lessons almost 40 years later! He has a deep knowledge of Jazz and Blues and years of experience in a wide range of musical settings. Most importantly he personifies the joy of music making. A great teacher for students on all levels.
April 12, 2019
I'm a beginning saxophone player and have been working with Dave for a couple of months. Very patient and inspiring, I've been very happy with him.
When you come into my music studio, we keep things simple, enjoyable and definitely a lot of fun (Isn't that some of the reason you signed up for the lesson anyway, right!?)
I have been in music education for 10 years and a musician for a lot longer. I will teach not only the music notes but how to express your self through "sound exploration".
I get exited just talking about it!
I graduated from Tennessee State University with a Bachelors of Music, concentration music education. I receive my Masters of Education and Education Specialist degree from Lincoln Memorial University. I have spent the past 10 years teaching instrumental and vocal music in middle and elementary public school. Alongside music education, I studied saxophone under professional saxophonist, Jimmy Bowland. I have had the opportunity to travel aboard, performing with the "Nashville Aces" at the Umbria Jazz Festival in Umbria, Italy in 2007 and even meet the great Sonny Rollins.
From 2008 to 2010 I performed saxophone within the stage band of "Alvin Moore Entertainment" stage production company and which produced recorded stage play, "A Mother's Prayer" featuring Johnny Gill, Robin Givens, Shirley Murdock and Jermaine Crawford which h
as aired numerous times on B.E.T. as well as stages in and around the southeast.
Since 2013 I have been performing within the funk band, "Function with a C", playing various weddings, corporate gathering and other social events and have recorded our band album, "F6" in 2016. Currently I am working on my album entitled "Sacred Spaces" and building recording studio.
Currently I am band leader and lead Saxophonist within the instrumental group "Sacred Spaces"...returning to the place that bring you back to life" and building my own recording studio.
Music is Life.. I find music not only something to be played and enjoyed, but a means to open my "hearing" to people and places. I believe everything makes music, however not everyone hears it. It is through this medium, that one "Hears" better. I have also learned that when I learn or study music, I am also learn and study life. As a teacher, I like to share these "life music" nuggets with my students when they pop during lesson. While I do not consider my self a counselor or life coach, I believe that good teachers care not only teach the subject but also tie it in to the bigger picture.
My desire is that all student i teach learn, grow and be inspired by music. Music has the power to inspire creativity, empower confidence, breaking down barriers and building connections. As a musician and music instructor, my hope is that any student I teach would be able to experience all of these qualities.
"Very helpful and experienced. As I already have studied music he geared the lesson to my needs."
"Lucas is a great instructor, however the internet connection/ experience for the online lessons keeps me from giving a 5 star review."
"Isaiah was excellent with my kids and seems to be super knowledgeable. We are excited to continue."
"Hideaki is such a gem! He is not only a world-class musician but also a Juilliard grad educator (He has a DMA - Doctor of Musical Arts). He really knows
how to teach and work with you. He is very patient, cares about your progress, and has a very strong passion for music. Unlike many teachers here, his style and skills are so versatile and top-notch. You will not be disappointed!"
"Very friendly, helpful, patient. 12 year old really enjoyed it. Said he was very informative"
"Matt's awesome- I love our lessons. I'm learning so much and he pushes me! After several years not playing, it's been amazing to get back into it."
"Great lesson, some tech glitches"
"He listens to me and teaches the way that I like. He seems like a good person as well. I recommend him for a saxophone teacher."
"I have been working with Eric for the past 10 years. He has helped my Downey HS Jazz Program tremendously through his method of teaching jazz improvisatio
n. Eric made my job a lot easier, having students understanding the art of creating something out of nothing! As it is very frightening for young musicians to improvise, Eric developed a sense of confidence in our students when it comes to it. I can’t thank him enough for what he does every week"
“Is saxophone hard to learn?” Not exactly. The saxophone, like many instruments, is not difficult to begin playing. It can however, be challenging to master
Many people say that it’s easy to make a sound on the saxophone, but harder to make a good sound (at least, at first). But if you’re considering getting started with saxophone lessons - don’t be discouraged! Any self-disciplined student can progress in their saxophone skills by taking the right steps as a beginner.
