Do you plan to play electric, acoustic or classical guitar? These are a few things to consider. I'm happy to help you by answering questions, advising you on where to buy a guitar, how much to spend and helping you find sheet music. I can't wait to help you learn to rock out on guitar!

About Jessica
Hello! Thanks for checking out my profile. Please feel free to ask me any questions. -Jessica

***About Jessica***
Jessica is known worldwide for her music which incorporates her original comedy, artwork and videos. She spent a decade touring the US and the UK and has performed in many festivals including the Reading & Leeds Festival, Latitude Festival, Montreal Comedy Festival, Edinburgh Fringe Festival, Dublin Comedy Festival, End of the Road Festival, NY Funny Songs Festival, NY International Children’s Film Festival and more.

Jessica’s music and comedy is inspired by being the oldest of 6 girls and growing up in a small town in Maine, where she taught Sunday school and counseled teens and twins in a local after school program for four years. When Jessica was 19, she moved to Philadelphia to study animation after receiving a par
tial scholarship to the Art Institute of Philadelphia, and relocated to NYC shortly after graduating.

Her unique music, performances, art and internet videos have won many awards and critical acclaim.

She has performed her music and written segments and songs for television (including ABC’s “Good Morning America”, MTV’s “I Bet You Will”, Fox News “Red Eye with Greg Gutfeld”, IFC's "Comedy Music Hall of Fame", HGTV's Flea Market Flip, TBS’s “Saving Grace” website and “The Tyra Banks Show”), radio (including "The Dr. Demento Show", "The Jackie Martling Show", WFMU's "Spreading Yourself Thin with Jessica D" and “The Opie and Anthony Radio Show” on SiriusXM, BBC’s “Loose Ends Radio Programme” and BBC’s “The Simone Show” in the UK), feature films (including “What Would Jesus Buy?” directed by Morgan Spurlock), commercially for major clients and also on stages across the US and the UK (including London’s prestigious Soho Theatre, NYC’s Irving Plaza, Joe’s Pub and The Bowery Ballroom as John Waters’ opening act, and LA’s Troubadour).

*** Lesson Details ***
Jessica brings a lot of fun to her lessons. She is like a cool aunt or a big sister who likes to have a good time but who also wants to teach you to play guitar or ukulele and sing, hopefully at the same time. Jessica's laid back style and attention to your needs as a student will help you reach your goals, whatever they may be. Together, you will go as fast or as slow as is comfortable for you. Jessica works with classic rock, pop, folk and all your favorite songs as your step ladder for learning. Jessica also can help you develop your own musical style and teach you to write YOUR OWN SONGS from beginning to end, if that is of interest to you.

*** Studio Equipment ***
amp, microphone, keyboard, guitar, ukulele, music stands

*** Travel Equipment ***
Guitar and Ukulele. Students can rent instruments initially but must get their own, as soon as possible

*** Specialties ***
Classic stringed instruments such as acoustic / electric guitar and ukulele, and several unusual instruments such as singing saw and electronic and standard autoharp, singing, songwriting and guidance on how to monetize your band, including acquiring sponsorships and arranging local and international tours.

***What Are Lessons Like?***
Student(s) and teacher sit together and start with the basics, then move on to learn others' songs (The Beatles or other classics are a good place to start) and then may even try to compose original songs, if that is of interest.

Jessica is a virtuoso on the ukulele. She has the patience of a saint with less than adept students. Yet she is insistent, in a gentle way, about instilling correct form in her students' approach to the uke. In addition, she is a walking encyclopedia of songs that span the range from traditional to standards to current day favorites, and from country to r&B to rock and roll.

He's a really great guy. Really liked his lessons, he's great at the guitar, and really smart about helping you to understand the fundamentals and really build a solid base upon which to grow as a guitar player. Unfortunately, I had to move away from Staten Island to Brooklyn, so I had to discontinue lessons, otherwise I definitely would have continued with him.

I have been teaching guitar lessons for almost 5 years. I am capable of teaching from beginner to an advanced level of playing. Guitar is my primary instrument, and has been for 20 years. My focus is on jazz and blues, but I can teach folk, rock, or classical as well.

Each student is different and may require different approaches, but generally I prefer is to use a method book, which introduces and reinforces music fundamentals. Simultaneously, I like to allow the student to select a piece of music that they will enjoy learning and playing. This helps the student apply the often challenging fundamentals to music that they enjoy.

My students have fun, and with practice, learn a lot!

About Timothy
I am a songwriter, composer, and performer living in New York City. I am a formally trained musician with considerable real world performing experience. Teaching music is something I enjoy immensely and something I am extremely passionate about.

During my time as a college student studying music, I began teaching guitar lessons. I found the work to be extremely rewarding. I was happy to be spreading a bit of love for music around, and I believe I made some lasting impressions. I continued to teach music lessons after I graduated, expanding to teach piano as well.

The more I taught, the more I found sincere joy in teaching. As I was was getting to know each of my students better, I realized that I was doing more than just teaching music lessons. I was acting as an example, a friend, and a counselor of sorts. I realized th
at each lesson was an opportunity to influence each of my students in a positive way, however small or large. To be granted that opportunity was truly thrilling.

I teach guitar from beginner to advanced levels of performance, in many styles. I teach piano up to an intermediate level. I specialize in Jazz, Folk, Blues, Rock, Funk, and pretty much any contemporary style a student might be interested in learning. Although not my specialty, I am capable of teaching classical styles as well.

I am very excited to teach anyone interested in learning about the wonders of music, and I work with all ages.

*** Lesson Details ***
In my lessons, students can expect to have fun while learning. I am friendly, warm, personable, caring, patient, and fun. I strive to find the perfect balance between learning the important fundamentals of music, and just plain enjoying music. Music takes hard work, but music is supposed to be fun!

I am a laid back person, and I do not expect any strict formalities when interacting with students. I feel that the more comfortable a student is, the more easily that student can learn and have fun doing so. However, I do expect my students to thoroughly practice, to focus, and to strive to improve.

I tailor each lesson to a student's particular needs. Everyone learns and interprets music in different ways, so I strive to serve each of my students uniquely. From basic fundamentals to advanced techniques, I cover everything. I also give each student an opportunity to choose some music that they will enjoy learning.

My curriculum changes depending on the student's ability level, age, and instrument of choice. I typically use a method book for reinforcement of musical fundamentals, and a supplementary "project" piece of music that the student enjoys playing and learning. I do this so that my students can see direct connections between music fundamentals and playing music that they enjoy. My own personal knowledge and experience as a musician is always added to each lesson as well.

*** Travel Equipment ***
For guitar lessons, I provide my guitar and any equipment that the student may not have initially, like for example, their own guitar, or music stand. Piano students will need their own keyboard for the very first lesson. The student should eventually provide their own instrument and equipment, such as their own guitar, music stand, and copy of the selected method book; all of which are things that they will need in order to pursue practicing on their own time.

*** Specialties ***
I am capable of teaching using many methods, styles, and genres, depending on the student and their particular needs. However, I specialize in jazz, folk, and rock styles, as well as improvisation.

Teach all levels. Chords, scales, improvising, songs, site reading, blues, rock, jazz, classical studies.

About Dan
-Guitarist, songwriter, teacher, band-leader, all around musician, writer, photographer....been playing music for over 25 years and teaching for over 11 years. - Highlights include performances at "The House of Blues" in New Orleans and The Fox Theater in Boulder, Colorado opening up for national acts. (Jerry Garcia Band, Keller Wiiiams) -Taught numerous private and group lessons over the years. - Involved with music summer camps and guitar seminars for children. - Began studying guitar with Jeff Tillman (Westchester, NY) who has played in various jazz bands with people like Bucky Pizzarelli. (famous jazz guitarist) -I am currently listening to artists like Ray Lamontagne, David Gray, Galactic and Medeski Martin and Wood. -Keep your mind open to all kinds of music!  Lots of improvising on it for those of you interested in learning more ab
out soloing!

Here's my full bio! In the past, Dan toured with The Boulevards based out of New Orleans, Louisiana. He spent about 7 years in Colorado in the 90's absorbing the music scene in Boulder and working the clubs in Denver. He first landed out west moving to Boulder, Colorado after he graduated college in 1994. Here, he met a lot of great musicians and worked with Samples producer Walt Beery at a local music store where guys like Big Head Todd and other popular Colorado musicians would stop in. He once played a gig up in Nederland, Colorado with Dave Watts (The Motet) and Erik Deutsch (Charlie Hunter Trio) among others and although got a little lost on the jazz changes, he hung in there. Now, in 2014, Dan would be more than ready to tackle that gig! For you aspiring musicians, that's what time, performance and practice will eventually do...Anyway, there was (and still is) a great music vibe in Boulder however, Dan wanted a change and moved to Denver in 1998. At the time, The Boulevards were a hard working swing and blues band playing all over the state and touring when they could. At this point, Dan was really digging into the life of a working musician, sweating it out at the clubs and eagerly anticipating the next one. (not too different from today) The Boulevards played multiple venues in New Orleans during several Jazz Fest's and Mardi Gras. Pierre Masperos, Bombay Club, Vic's Kangaroo Cafe and The Dream Palace were some of the venues, although a few no longer exist. Those were important musical experiences for Dan shaping what would be, his own funky style. After The Boulevards, he formed his own band called Rare Form who were based in Denver. He also recorded an all original cd recruiting some of Denver's finest session players. Dave Cieri the keyboardist for the popular jam band (at the time) Chief Broom did some excellent keyboard work on the album. The power trio was an all original project with LA studio musician Beto Hale on drums and Denver's own Steve Morrow on bass. That was a hot trio however, Dan was frustrated living in Denver and missed the big city. A recording at the Soiled Dove in downtown Denver was the band's highlight with "A Groove" recorded at that point. In 2001, he relocated to Long Beach, New York which had always been close to his heart and continued writing and recording music. Now, reflecting on his current New York band The DF Project, "At first the band was a trio and then a five piece. We had a keyboardist and then we didn't. That's how band's go. People come and go sometimes. Recorded at a recent performance in Manhattan at The Underscore, are two new tunes on the page. They are "Warning Sign" and a funky one called "New Orleans". Several years ago, he spent some time in the studio rehearsing with former Jason Bonham Band guitarist Tony Catania. That band never took off.. oh well they would of been hot! He's also done gigs with some of the areas finest musician's including George Panos from the popular band Mystic and Manny Focarazzo who currently plays keyboards for Alan Parson's Project. He's also jammed with Primo guitarist Dean Brown who plays with Stanley Clarke's band among others. He also has several other projects in the works he hopes to perform with in 2009. In 2005, he wanted a break from music and began painting. Some examples of his work (photography included) can be viewed under "pics" or on the picture collage. In 2007, Dan performed over 130 gigs in the New York City and Long Island area as both a solo artist and with several bands. The challenge of performing for roughly two decades now has proven positive with gigs under his belt at The Knitting Factory in Manhattan, Kenny's Castaway's (didn't Bruce play there?), The Fox Theatre in Boulder, and The House of Blues in New Orleans to name a few. Dan has opened up for such artists as Keller Williams, Jerry Garcia Band w/Melvin Seals and Jumpin' Johnny Sansone, a New Orleans blues musician. He also placed second in the LIBS solo competition in 2007. Dan has recorded over the years with a number of independent artist's. The new lineup for 2014 is exciting! With Jon Gray, Chris Gardner and William Johnson Jr now making up the band the sound is right where Dan wants it! "I'm glad we have a keyboard involved..."

Teaching is like anything else, you need to put in the time in order to become better at it.
There is a certain method or art in teaching that through time, develops as you work at it.
My attitude is this: each person deserves a custom-designed method for their individual needs.

Some people start out on their instrument knowing absolutely nothing about music.
Others can remember things like sight reading or tempo from classes taken during their school years.
These variables need to be recognized and a student needs to be developed using their strengths.
I try and keep my lessons informative and flowing smoothly.

I keep in mind there are a lot of instructional videos floating around on the internet. I have seen some of them and there are certain benefits in watching these videos.
However, I firmly believe nothing takes the place of a good lesson one on one.

Not only does it personalize the learning process, but it makes it more fun and more hands on. Sometimes, in order to keep my lessons productive, I pretend I am videotaping myself.
This way, I concentrate on spending my time wisely and getting my information across as clearly and concisely as possible.

I also concentrate on keeping the lesson fun and interesting in order to stimulate the student to want to come back for the next one.
I teach all styles, jazz, blues, rock, country, classical so depending on your goals, we can customize the
lesson to what you want to achieve! (and have fun doing it too!!)

My students cover a wide range, from bluegrass to concert classical. The correct technique is the one that will be able to underlay any musical style. For example, if the left hand is flexible and well-formed, then blues, Bach and flamenco all will come more easily. This core is essential, because even at the most beginning stages, the student should be able to play with musical expression. Books I commonly use are Suzuki and Parkening--but I equally commonly use other materials.

About Stephen
I have been playing music on the violin since the age of 7, composing since I was 14, and playing and performing on the guitar since I was 18. I've written a lot of music, and this past spring had works performed in Virginia and two in Manhattan.

I have taught music for over 15 years, in colleges, music schools and privately. One thing that I have noticed is that, with more experience, I have a lot more fun--and so do my students.

My goal is to encourage more people to develop a love of music. That means helping them play the music they want to play. It means learning how to make practicing fun. My lessons aren't just about how to play guitar, but also about learning how a guitar works. how they're built, so that as you get better and start being more discerning with what you play on, you know what you're looking at in a shop. My goal is to lay a solid foundation for you to build upon technically and artistically.

About Christopher
I've been making music for years which started with playing piano and trumpet in my early years and eventually moving more into singing and the guitar as time went on. I play my own music in an acoustic rock band and some harder stuff with a rock band that has been touring around more this past summer. I received a degree from NYU's Tisch School of the Arts and I'm excited to pass on what I've learned. The most important thing about making music for me is not just fancy licks and looking cool.
