Master in all calculus concepts. Can identify student shortfalls and address them through the subject fundamentals approach and by tying in real world applications for easier grasp of material.

About Daniel
I'm a graduate of UCLA School of Engineering with a B.S. in Aerospace Engineering. I have a passion for explaining how the physical world works through math and physics along with 10 years of tutoring experience in those subjects, test prep, and mentorship programs. The teaching strategy I believe in emphasizes subject fundamentals, a powerful and necessary tool for higher problem solving. This strategy has proven effective regardless of the student's educational background or mental ability. Besides being knowledgeable, I am motivating, caring, and patient in guiding your student to academic success!

Executive Functioning is a separate realm that tutoring can assist in. It deals with cognitive processes including organization, time management, and study skills. Much of the difficulty students face in academic subjects can be attribute
d to the lack of executive functioning. They either cannot keep up with the pace and workload that advanced courses demand or haven't figured out the best way to study for themselves. I am able to assess a student's shortcomings and formulate a plan for higher achievement.

Excellent tutor! Daniel tutored my 13 year old son in Physics. My son went from being completely lost to getting an A in the class. Very professional, explains topics clearly, connects well with student. My son loved the Skype/online white board method of teaching. No need to go anywhere or sit in traffic. Daniel was flexible with setting up lessons and even made time when urgently needed, like before a test. My son had a great experience and can't wait to learn with Daniel again when he gets to HS physics.

About Alex
I have been teaching private lessons since 2001 and I am currently available to teach lessons online or in my office. As a professor , I have helped students in a number of computer science and math oriented areas including standardizes tests, as well as helping them have the confidence to overcome struggles with difficult subjects.

I believe that learning should be fun and engaging, and that no one perfect method exists to teach all students. During our lessons I try to take note of whats working and whats not, and when I find types of examples that work, I keep using them to help you accelerate your learning

Alex, being well seasoned in academia and founding an analytics company has provided him a broad knowledge in statistical software (E.g. R, Minitab, etc.). His approach to learning is simply holistic. With all seriousness, it can only be said that Alex walks on water. Alex can vividly describe the story behind the data, giving you the frame of reference needed to retain what you had learned. Discussing his abilities and his willingness help, it would be more accurate to compare him to Yoda, than anything else. He is one with statistical software. Having an hour session with him is like three days of studying on my own.

Calculus is the climax of all of the mathematics you've been learning from Kindergarten through college; I take that into account when tutoring calculus, as it is deeply rooted in the concepts that you have learned in your past math classes, and it has a direct relationship with pre-calculus, trigonometry and Algebra II. I believe that calculus has unfairly been branded 'the most difficult mathematical subject' simply because most people fail to understand it's prerequisites. I dispel the phobia of calculus by seizing every opportunity to relate its hard parts to the basic concepts in mathematics (that we understand better) that define it. For example: I make compelling analogies using easier concepts in algebra, such as evaluating expressions, in order to facilitate the learning process during your introduction to limits and continuity. Allow me to mollify your acquisition of knowledge in calculus, and endorse your effort to 'chastise calculus'.

About Amadou
I am a distinguished graduate with Summa Cum Laude honors from Ivy Tech College. I make it my duty to break down many of the complexities in math and science that have been plaguing students since the beginning of time. I have over 7 years of teaching experience, and I have taught several middle-school and high-school students math, science and ACT/SAT prep who have went on to make 180 degree turns in their grades under my instruction. And because I have worked with such a vast diversity of people over the span of 16 countries throughout the world, I have developed the patience and understanding that is crucial in producing stellar students. Age has never been a problem with me, as I've helped several post-graduate students straighten out their grievances in math and science.

As an engineering major at IIT, I naturally maintain an ex
emplary study ethic that inspires my students to achieve more. I bring results. I relate to my students by incorporating elements of the things that they like (sports, hobbies, music, etc...) into their most challenging courses allowing them to develop a passion for the courses I tutor. Additionally, I always make a conscious effort to work at each student's own pace and I make it my priority to decompose enigmatic topics into components that can be more easily internalized by my students, effectively increasing their grades and giving them the self-confidence and enthusiasm they need to fuel their future academic endeavors. I guarantee quality, commitment, and a passion for training my students to be the best.

I have lived in over 20 countries, which allowed me to speak several languages, and which permitted me to maintain my patience, élan and spirit of enthusiasm when dealing with even the most extreme personalities. I have solid background in both math and the natural sciences, as I have consistently maintained a 4.0 G.P.A since high school. I am now studying mechanical engineering at IIT, and I have gotten 5s in all of my AP Chemistry, AP Physics and AP Biology exams. I have also been the winner of many STEM-related competitions, through my demonstrating of exemplary leadership qualities and through my brainstorming of blue-sky ideas. I am also a "Mental-Math" practitioner, reflexologist and guitarist. I believe that everyone has potential; however potential is worthless unless put in motion. And experts like me value ourselves in our abilities to give students that push, that jolt of energy that galvanizes them into pulling themselves up by their own bootstraps, allowing them to achieve academic excellence.

As an engineer, I use calculus on a daily basis to solve problems, and this includes multi-variable and vector calculus. Taking a calculus course and knowing the steps to solve a derivative or integral is one thing, but applying calculus concepts to problems in engineering and physics (i.e. biomechanics or fluid mechanics) is the true mark of understanding calculus - something I've learned how to do over many years of applying what I learned in my calculus courses. Sure, calculus can be a challenging subject at times, but with a focus on geometric representations, attaining a solid understanding of the concepts is well within reach, and that is the way I approach the subject with my students. For example, I don't just show you how to analytically solve an integral, I show you what an integral is, and what the solution means. When you understand calculus on this level, you'll be able to work through any of the curve ball questions your teacher might throw in on an exam.

About Colin
Hello there! My name is Colin, and I have four years of experience tutoring math and science. I am a PhD student in the UC Berkeley-UC San Fransisco joint bioengineering program. My strong background in STEM qualifies me to tutor math and science up through lower-division college courses. Aside from my academic qualifications, I believe that it is my genuine passion for math and science that makes me an effective tutor for students of all backgrounds.

As a tutor, my goal is not to impress students with how much I know. Rather, my goal is to show my students how easily math and science concepts can come to them when they are presented the material in a straightforward way. The late physicist, Richard Feynman, posited that the ability to explain complicated ideas in a simple manner is the true mark of understanding. I agree with this a
ssertion, and I make it my goal each tutoring session to explain even the most complex phenomena in a simple way, so that my student will come away from the lesson invariably understanding it. Additionally, I emphasize a strong understanding of the fundamentals, because both math and science are heavily inductive disciplines; many of the theorems and laws are founded on other, more fundamental principles. I have personally experienced the discouragement of trying to learn material that is beyond my preparedness level, and so I can empathize with students who are in that boat. Fortunately, I have learned that the remedy is always a return to, and a strengthening of the basics. That is the approach I take with students who find themselves struggling in a course.

My online teaching platform is a “black board” drawing program that my students can follow along with as I explain concepts and solve problems. I simply share my screen with them during the session, and at the end, I take a screenshot of the notes and email it to my students for their reference. I hope this brief explanation of my qualifications and teaching style has provided a clear image of what you can expect from me as your tutor. I am eager to hear from you and help you succeed in your academic goals!

As a calculus tutor I always stress the importance of writing out questions and making sure to obtain answers from those familiar with whichever exam (e.g., AP Calculus AB) one is preparing for. In tutoring calculus I make sure clients have a good grasp on the fundamentals.

I took college precalculus back in 2004 and received an A. From there I went on to take Calculus BC and achieved a perfect score. As a precalculus and calculus tutor I always stress the importance of writing out questions and making sure to obtain answers from those familiar with whichever exam (e.g., AP Calculus AB, precalculus midterm/final) one is preparing for. From my experience preparation, with a view to earning a good grade, must arm one with a certain skill set proper to mastery of the topics covered under precalculus' or calculus' domain. Unlike other mathematical skills (e.g., those needed for algebra) that one can learn on one's own in private, precalculus is too abstract to be grasped by one’s self

About Will
I graduated from Cornell University in a dual Ph.D. program in Classics and Philosophy. I also graduated from the University of Chicago with an A.M. in Classical Languages. I graduated from Tulane University with an A.B. in Greek, Latin, and Philosophy. I've studied at Columbia University, New York University, Syracuse University, C.W. Post, Loyola New Orleans, Farmingdale University, Tulane University, The University of Chicago, Cornell University, the Goethe Institut (in Germany), and others.

I have tutored all sorts of people in multiple subjects including the ancient languages, mathematics, writing, and test preparation as well as all levels of mathematics - from arithmetic to differential equations.

Although my profile has recently been posted, I have tutored for nearly fifteen years.

As a computer engineering student who has taken calculus 1-3, I know how difficult it is to understand certain concepts. The problem students usually face with calculus is algebra, so I will work with my students to help them develop a strong foundation in algebra before jumping into any calculus related topics. This way, I can ensure that their on track to learn the material. I will also devise a study plan that helps students maintain consistency. Repetition is the key, so the more problems a student solves, the better he or she gets. Let's get started!

About James
Hey there! My name is James and I am a computer engineering major at the University of Nevada Las Vegas. My love for teaching stems from my love for service! As Muhammad Ali once said, “Service to others is the rent you pay for your room here on earth.” Nothing brings me more joy than witnessing a student’s improvement over time. My teaching style consists of walking students through the basics and setting a good foundation. This is crucial because without proper guidance, students develop poor habits; I can’t stress that enough.

I don’t think of myself as a teacher who has all the knowledge in the world, but merely as an individual who is just one step ahead of my prospective students. The thing I bring new to the table is relatability; I want to provide a safe, fun, and conducive environment for learning. Sometimes teachers wi
th years of experience have a difficult time explaining the material in a way that the average layman can understand. I offer a different approach to teaching by simplifying concepts and relating the information to a student’s topic of interest. In other words, I focus more on practicality than theory. I am very nice, patient, and approachable so don’t hesitate to contact me. I look forward to assisting each and every one of you with your goals!

Calculus is the exploration of approximation and how functions change over time.

In calculus one we are introduced to a variety of tools, such as the limit, continuity, differentiation, integration, and the fundamental theorem of calculus.

In calculus two we build on our tools of differential and integral calculus and introduce new tools for analyzing series and sequences, such as power, Taylor and Maclaurin series.

In calculus three we apply previous calculus concepts to multiple variables and dimensions, creating multivariable/vector calculus.

About Logan
I majored in Philosophy/Computer Science and minored in Mathematics in college. I tutor math, physics, general engineering, writing and test prep for high school, college and adult students. I also work with mentally disabled, ADD, autistic and bipolar students. During college, I worked as a network engineer, chef and tutor.

I teach in a logical and straightforward manner and try to cultivate my students' personal understanding of the material. I accomplish this by giving them plenty of questions and examples, which guide, test and clarify their understanding of concepts. If their fundamentals are sound, then students can reason through and apply concepts more effectively than otherwise. It also builds their self-confidence. I work best with students who are also interested in learning and usually leave them with some food-for-thought be
tween our sessions.

*****
Each school year I offer tutoring in a selection of advanced courses.
