Hello! I am a vocalist, pianist, songwriter, actress, director and teacher. I have a lifetime of experience in the performing arts (I started performing at 6 years of age) and many years teaching music and theater arts! What are you looking for? If one of the answers to this question is a teacher who truly understands how to communicate in an understanding and fun way...then let my years of experience help you to achieve your goals. I have taught many students of all ages and levels in private, public, and workshop environments. I am pleased to announce that one of my recent students just recorded a nationally released song. I am a versatile teacher and specialize in rock, pop, jazz and Broadway. I can prepare you for amateur and/or professional venues and help you in performance, song selection and audition skills. My students learn how to better use their voice through organic vocalizing (such as deep breathing and correct placement of sound) and in doing so develop their ...
Sharon knew at a very young age that the arts were her life and doesn't remember a time when she wasn't singing, dancing and acting. She began her professional singing and acting career at the age of six years old and has performed at Carnegie Hall and Lincoln Center. She plays the piano and is a versatile musician with a strong foundation in the classical method that really rocks!! Sharon grew up in Brooklyn, NY and has trained with some of New York City's premier voice, piano and acting teachers. Sharon majored in Theater and graduated cum laude with honors in theater. She is a certified public school theater teacher and has worked with hundreds of performing arts students. As a private instructor, she has guided her students in piano, voice, and acting. Sharon is a fun and innovative teacher. Her wealth of experiences has made
her a well-rounded teacher. She has a great sense of humor with a serious commitment to her art and her students. A winning combination for you!
Fantastic first lesson. Sharon is great to work with. She explains the process and then we get right into the music and vocals. She's very knowledgeable and enthusiastic. I'm looking forward to my next lesson.

Sharon is a lovely and outgoing woman. I’m new to piano and reading music, but she is so patient and encouraging. I’d recommend her to a piano newbie like myself. She also has the cutest pup that keeps us company during the lessons.

Love Sharon! My 13-year-old daughter takes voice lessons with her and Sharon is funny, positive, and very energetic.
My daughter has said she would not go to anyone else. Sharon is great with young students and getting the most out of them, especially if they’re a bit shy. We look forward to seeing her every week and I highly recommend her as an instructor.
My only job is to help you find your own voice! And to have a lot of fun along the way!
We record you all the time in a recording studio environment. Then you will benefit from getting used to that voice that only you can hear. This is like having your own producer!
I am no throat specialist, but, I have accompanied singers for decades and may have some suggestions to help you. From breathing to posture to intonation, to energy, enunciation and more, there is a lot to cover.
I will accompany your singing at the keyboard all the time. I will also encourage your recording with karaoke tracks as well. Listening to yourself is exciting and helpful. Get over that insecurity. Come sing with confidence!
An integrated approach: Music almost always involves several skills. Below are some of the complementary skills that I can help you with. In my Semper Method, we always address several of them at every session. For example, we record, sing and play all the time. To sing you ...
RANDY L. Teacher / Musician / Producer
Are you an adult who always wished you could play or sing? Or a homeschooler who wishes you had music for your child?
Do you wish you or your child could just sit down and play the music you feel?
Is fear or uncertainty stopping you from playing in front of others?
Have you written some great song lyrics and just need help with the music?
Do you live far away from a good selection of teachers?
Maybe we should be talking. We make it easy to study online, from anywhere in the world.
Children don't learn to read before they can talk. So why should anyone have to try to read before they play or sing?
That is how music has been taught for many years, andone reason why many students just quit or had a miserable time with piano lessons. Music should be fun. Period.
We use m
usic to help you find your own voice. When you find your voice, the rest of you is not far behind.
We help people to overcome any fears they may have about playing. We simply help you to find your confidence. Many people are afraid to express themselves because of negative comments from a family member or friend. We help you move far past that and get to your own voice, free of worries.
It has been said that playing only from sheet music is like only being able to talk when you are reading it from a book.
We help people to play and sing by ear.
Yes, learning to read music brings you wonderful music from some great composers. But there is so much more.
First, we find out how you learn and what you are interested in. Life is just different when you get in touch with the music inside you. Sure, it is some work, but it is very satisfying! I love to help people do this!
All that said, reading musical notes is like your alphabet. When was the last time you had to ponder the alphabet when you wanted to speak? Once you know the alphabet, you just forget it and move on, to words, stories and communication. Music is a language as well.
Everybody loves music. How will you find yours? It’s different for everyone. Maybe you want to sing like that great pop singer you love, or play keyboard. Some people write songs. In all cases, the keyboard helps you to understand all about music.
Bach used to improvise all the time. Why shouldn't you?
SONGWRITERS: If you write songs, just bring in an idea and we will record it. We set a tempo and a key, and get your basic groove looped, all in about two minutes. Then we lay down the chords and a bass part and you sing a reference vocal. You can easily lay out a song in a one-hour session. Then it is easy to see how to produce it. It is amazing to go home with a recording of your song that did not exist in the world until you gave it a voice!
Along the way, you become a better writer, singer and/or keyboard player. You will learn to play by ear. And have a LOT of fun. You can do this online too.
ONLINE SESSIONS You create a rough sketch and we track it, with your input. We can help you to set up your own songwriter studio as well. If you get Logic software at your end, you can put on phones and cut a vocal with me producing you. Seriously, great fun. ;0)
WHAT PEOPLE ARE SAYING: “...an amazing instructor...inspiring mentor...compassionate.” “...a lot of patience.” “My son's love for music has come from Randy.” “...positive attitude and friendly personality.” “...wildly entertaining.” “ ...will teach you in a way that will make you want to learn.” “We look forward to our lesson every week!”
"Randy, I like your "Semper Method of Music” teaching method. It's applying knowledge with fun, and common sense... the best combination. Good luck. You’re a great musician." Joe Messina, Motown recording guitarist & Funk Brother
SONGLab Your music. Instantly. We use recording as a powerful tool to help you listen and improve. Tired of crappy tabs? Struggling to capture your song? No worries. Learn a process, instead of a lesson. Apply it anywhere.
Go from musical idea to music, fast. Get to the groove in 2 minutes or less. In any software.
SONGLab Studio. The antidote to rote.
SCHEDULING: Please note: If the particular time you had in mind is listed as unavailable, don’t worry. Between working online and two locations, I am very flexible and will work hard to make our schedules click.
SPECIAL NEEDS? Everyone's needs are special. If your child has been diagnosed ADHD or ASD, music can be a joyful and rewarding way to see real growth and make a wonderful experience for parent and child. We help with the Proprioceptive and Vestibular senses in a fun and therapeutic way.
Just Google "BrainVolts" for a tremendous study from Northwestern University on the amazing effects of music study!
Playing by Ear Pretty much everyone can play by ear. So we help you to find your own voice, reach your musical goals and to create and perform music as a real and beautiful part of your life.
Making music should not be a boring job. Rather, it should be something you can't wait to do. A way to get in touch with the rest of the universe. You will also learn to read and write, but it won't get in the way of your music.
Since a very young age I have loved to improvise and to create music. It is very satisfying to pass this on to others who are full of music inside but may not know how to get it out. If you wish that you or your child could get some help creating your own music as well as playing the great music already written, perhaps we should be talking.
I am from Canada, and I have been a professional musician since 1970. I studied music performance in school, piano with the Royal Conservatory of Toronto and Music Education at Queens University. I have toured with national acts, produced dozens of recordings of all kinds and played, arranged and conducted music on cruise ships all over the world.
Music is my life. Bringing other people's skills to a higher level is what I do best.
Tell me what you want to accomplish, either for yourself or your child. I look forward to speaking with you. Warm regards, Randy
PS: A note about allergens: I teach online and at my home and my studio. At home we have two very friendly dogs and a cat (Julian) who sleeps all day. If you have allergies, we will study at the Troy studio which is allergen-free. Unless you love animals. In that case, you will get to meet Vinnie & Buddy, the two most kid-friendly, loves-everybody, most gentle little guys you will ever meet. I put Vinnie's picture up so you can see him.
Teaching teachers Several excellent teachers I know who have been teaching music for many years were frustrated by not being able to play without a sheet of music. They have found satisfying and positive results from this approach.
Wouldn't it be great to be gifted? In fact... It turns out that choices lead to habits. Habits become talents. Talents are labeled gifts. You're not born this way, you get this way. ~ Seth Godin
*** Lesson Details ***
Music should be fun. Period.
My only real job is to make sure you have fun and want to learn more. Then you will do the rest. you will astonish yourself and everyone around you!
In a traditional music education, reading the works of others is the focus, with no encouragement to improvise or to play by ear.
In our community, there is a prestigious, private college prep school that charges just under $80 per hour for traditional private music lessons. If you take away the music, most cannot play a note.
My method is every bit the equal of that school for those who are drawn to express themselves playing by ear. You will still learn all the core skills needed to be a well-rounded musician.
Music study helps people young and old to overcome shyness and build confidence. It empowers them as they refine their special talents.
We will always have a lot of fun, but there is a lot to do, so we need to be efficient. My teaching method is a combination of the best methods I have found. It is backed up with the same solid principles that I received when I was a student myself. If you choose to continue and pursue a classical education at a high level, you will be well-prepared.
Please note: You are most welcome to start with 30 minute sessions to see if we are a good fit. 30 min lessons are offered for this purpose and also for very young children with short attention spans. For any student, wishing to make progress, lessons will eventually need to be an hour or 45 minutes at minimum in order to reach your goals.
Attendance While fun is our main goal, we need results and I am an old-school stickler for results.
Weekly sessions are the only way to get measurable results, and the only way I teach. Two absences a month is noted by colleges as a clear path to dropping out. That is what bi-weekly sessions will do.
Though you'll receive serious critiques from me, I always uplift and encourage. Positive energy is the ticket.
My Method: Listen, Sing, Clap, Play, Read and Write. With these tools you can look deeper into the elements that make up music. Folk, jazz, pop, rock or classical; all Western music is derived from the same principles. We will study ear training from a wonderful ear training book by a famous guitarist. It'Âs simple: you learn all the theory so you will be at the top of your game, but always have fun doing it. For notation, we will use The Semper Note Speller. For scales, we have the famous Brown Scale Book.
Technology We use recording as a tool to help you hear how you sound and we always encourage you to express yourself with improvisation. In many cases, you will have tracks to practice with. We also use apps for your phone that really help. A guitar tuner to nail down vocal pitch, as well as a metronome app that is with you wherever you go. If you have a minute anywhere you can get in some good practice time. So we truly have the best of all worlds: playing from music and learning to play by ear! If you stick with it and do the work, the end result will be that you can always just sit down and play, whether or not you have any music in front of you!
On our first lesson we will do a duet jam session together and you will not believe how great you sound!
The Big Picture In the old days, a tiny percentage of students would become a concert pianist.
Today, there are a multitude of other ways to become involved with music. Whether you are looking at music as a profession or as a hobby, we let parents know of the many choices available so that they can make good decisions, for themselves and for their children.
Having fun as you improve is a big priority. I also teach songwriting, singing, music recording and performance, as well as piano.
Remember: A piano should be an irresistible invitation, not an obstacle.
*** Studio Equipment *** Troy studio: A digital keyboard in a professional recording control-room environment at our media production studio. The studio is near Big Beaver and Stephenson Hwy.
Home studio: An acoustic piano and recording studio environment at my home in Franklin/Beverly Hills.
Your Instrument If you are taking any kind of music lesson, we recommend a tuned piano or digital keyboard, preferably with at least 76 full-sized keys.
We have helped many people to find the right piano. If you like, I can suggest several different models of keyboard that I have researched and of which I approve. They range from an inexpensive but effective starter keyboard for ear training and just plain fun to an 88 note weighted keyboard for more expressive practice.
*** Specialties *** Adults who always wanted to. Homeschoolers who are frustrated. Kids who just love music.
My youngest student is 4 and my oldest student is 102 now. )At 100 he recorded an album of songs from the 1920s!)
I teach people of all ages first to play by ear and to have fun while they study. Then I back up ear training with solid theory so they can read and write music. In school I studied many traditional methods and I have distilled my own distinct method from them. Though I am classically trained, I specialize in improvisation. Here's to a most satisfying musical experience! Best regards, Randy
Very comfortable and helpful. Looking forward to the next one.

Randy has been incredibly helpful with teaching me to have a better on camera experience. I read scripts while he records them, then we work on improving them. I would recommend Randy to anyone looking to improve their speaking voice
Specialize in singing rock 'n roll and Broadway as well as hip-hop or New Age music I teach students how to be more confident with their vocals present themselves in a positive confident way and also how to hit those high notes and expand their range with their breath and technique
I am an international recording artist and seasoned performer. I have been playing music since the early age of 8 yrs old. I have always been inspired by music and love to inspire others with music. eparatory private charter school and the Arizona Music Academy. I teach all levels of guitar, bass, and drums and tailor every lesson to the individual student’s needs and personality. My annual recitals are live-performance concerts featuring bands and other performing groups formed from among my students along with solo performances. My students also perform regularly throughout the community and are successful in their musical endeavors at all ages. I teach a wide range of genres and styles from classical music, blues, jazz and rock to heavy metal with an emphasis on becoming A-Level lead guitar soloists and song writers. I teach songwriting skills, music theory, and have even helped many of my guitar students be able to sing better while learning their main instrument.
*** Lesson Details *** I make my lessons fun and informative and have had many students stay with me for up to 7 years. I show you everything you will ever need to know about music theory but in a very useful applicable way. I teach popular songs from any artist and classics that have stood the test of time and show you how to become a great song writer of your own giving you an insider’s knowledge about how to perform and have the audience standing asking for more. No matter if you want to become a pro lead guitar player or just play to have fun I can show you how to sing and play the guitar or piano at the same time or singing songs from church as well as your favorite rock or pop songs with confidence.
*** Travel Equipment *** Just my own guitar and amp they need their own equipment.
*** Specialties *** Classical, flamenco, rock, heavy metal guitar. I have also developed new classical guitar techniques that I call the "trem" stroke and the "harpeggio"
I will be instructing you on the basics of proper playing techniques, music theory, and musicianship. You will learn to read notated music and also play by ear which will make you a well rounded player.
About Luther A.
Luther unique talents as educator, instrumentalist, conductor, vocal coach, cinematographer, composer and arranger make him a sought-after teacher. Currently, Luther is working with the Bridgeport Board of Education at Roosevelt Elementary School for President Obama's Arts and Humanities Turn-Around Arts Initiative he is the Executive Director and Program Director of Blackwell's School of Music and Film and Minister of Music Director for New Hope Missionary Baptist Youth Singers.
Luther stays where I’m at and then helps me go the next step. That is useful for consistent gradual progress without the frustrations of moving either too slow or too fast (I am a beginning tenor saxophone player). Nice interpersonal style, patient and easy going, while methodical.

I think Luther is great. He works with my 10-year old son on piano, singing and even trumpet and violin as needed. My son has to work hard to progress, and Luther customizes the lesson plan for him and seems to understand him well. I'm really excited about them working together.
I've been a professional singer and actress for over twelve years, performing on Broadway in Lincoln Center's Tony-winning Revival of "South Pacific" and touring the county with Rob McClure and Anika Larson in the First National Tour of "Avenue Q." I have an MFA in Performing Arts from Savannah College of Art and Design, graduated summa cum laude, and was the only female recipient of the Presidential Scholarship for Vocal Performance. My BA is in Arts and Education from Hobart and William Smith Colleges.
I teach all levels of singing and am familiar with different styles, like contemporary musical theatre, legit, belting, and pop/ rock. As an actor who sings I think it's important to connect with the text and let the vocal technique support those choices for the most compelling performance. My passion is creating audition cuts and crafting them into bite-sized yet complete scenes. Audition technique is key if you want to be in shows because someone has to cast you first. Over 95% of ...
My approach is both supportive and pragmatic, based on where each individual's skill set is right now and what your specific goals are. I've had the benefit of both formal instruction as well as a decade in the "school of hard knocks." Climbing up the ladder to earn my Equity Card on a Production Contact taught me a lot and I believe gave me a nuanced perspective as a performer.
Over 95% of my career is from attending open calls, including finding representation and my Broadway debut.
I continue to audition for film, television, and theatre, as well as perform in concerts and other venues. I write and produce my own work and am currently signed with Roth and Associates East.
A-mazing! She’s an awesome mentor! Her approach to singing is brilliant in the sense that she helps you explore yourself, your strengths and areas you could work on to improve. She helps you find and utilize your voice in a way that makes a unique artist. She digs in right to the foundation of singing (vocals) and performing. I am glad to have found her! And to add up, I never had a dull moment with her with her sense of humor and caring approach!

Rebecca is wonderful at helping my daughter learn better public speaking skills.
July 5, 2019
Rebecca immediately made my granddaughter comfortable. Rebecca is a sweet, charming woman who, I can see, works very well with both children and adults. She is extremely knowledgeable and knows how to make people feel good about themselves.
I've been singing since I was 4 years of age and I have realized over the years that it all starts with breathing. If you can breathe properly, then you'll be able to sing notes you didn't think you'd be able to
I've sung background for many artist, such as BeBe Winans, Sheila E, Fred Hammond, Donnie McClurkin and more. I've been singing since I was 4 years old and Ive learned how to breathe better. I was vocally trained when I was 22 years old and it helped me to be able to teach my students. I love to have fun and I'm always ready for a challenge.
Some of the things that I work on are: Breathing Techniques, Ear Training, and Basic Music Theory. The goal is to have every student knowing the difference between a quarter note, half note etc.
I currently have 14 students ranging from 11 - 45. I enjoy helping other people become better in their gift. The main rule is to believe beyond what you think you can do and anything is possible.
Jahcee is AMAZING!! She is patient, perceptive and aware of each of her students gifting independently and in a group. Jahcee has a way of making you feel warm, welcomed and wanted! Jahcee gives practical instruction to her students and caters to each students learning style. She meets you where you are and assists you in elevating yourself to where your gift requires you to be! I absolutely LOVE her!
Jahcee does give homework and tests you during the next sessions which speaks to her requirement of accountability from each student.
Jahcee will gently push you beyond your comfort zone and out of the proverbial box, however, she will only go as far as you allow her.
I cannot express enough how amazing she is as a person which filters through to her professional artistic craft!
If you want a caring and gentle yet down to earth and structured trainer, do not hesitate to reach out to Jahcee! You will be blown away by the experience and love that she expels naturally! It is truly an honor to be trained by such an Amazing and Experienced Woman!

Since I have been training with Jachee I have developed better access to my vocal powers and my vocal range has expanded. Jachee is extremely professional in her vocal training. She can teach a variety of vocal styles and have you develope ear training in order to distinguish the appropriate notes to sing and remain on the correct notes from the beginning to the end of the song selection. I must say with her expert advise she has guided me in area's I knew was a challenge for me, yet she help me over come the fears I was experiencing without even mentioning it to her. I was soo soo pleased with her that I recommended 3 other persons and if my son gives me th ok I will bring my grand children as well. Her training has helped and improved my vocal cords not harmed them. We practice our breathing, stretching & warm-ups which are so much fun. I would like to achieve singing effortlessly one day as she does when she is on stage. She is amazing, powerful, talented and ve ry professional. I highly recommend Mrs. Jachee, I really call here Boss J because of the way she takes command vocally when she is on stage. By the way there is not a song this power house of a Lady that she can not sing. Give her any song any style and watch with amazement of what beauty and creativity she brings and applies to whatever selections you place before her!!! You can trust you child with her as well. I sooooo love Boss J !!!!!! If I were to have a compliant it would be that we have soo much fun that time flys so quickly and I do not want to LEAVE. Lol 😄🤗😄😁🤣

"I'm a student at ASU's School of Music and wanted to get extra help with singing, since it is not my primary instrument. I've been studying music for 14 y
ears playing the piano, violin, and guitar. Marty is very knowledgeable and has helped me so much with not only my voice, but I've also been able to use what she's taught me to help me with my other instruments and classes. She has helped me in areas none of my other teachers have really touched, such as improvisation and accompaniment, and she explains things very thoroughly and with good examples. She is very dedicated and cares deeply about her students. I highly recommend Marty!"

It turns out a lot of fans want to be someone like Adele when it comes to the karaoke stage. According to Lucky Voice, an online karaoke simulator, two of the singer's hit songs, "Someone Like You" and her cover of Bob Dylan's "Make You Feel My Love," ranked as the two most sung karaoke songs in 2011. Out of the 3 million karaoke performances tabulated through the website, one in four singers chose "Someone Like You". "Rolling In The Deep" also placed high on the list.
