*** Lesson Details *** I am pretty easy going. I want you to feel comfortable and at ease, but we do need to focus and can have fun doing it. :) I utilize various methods for each instrument, which is determined by the students learning style and ability; needs, so this can change as time goes on (not sticking to one particular publishers materials). I have done (and continue to do) extensive research into materials available for each instrument I teach, and supplement with my own, to utilize the best out there for "YOU" for the best possible progress. While ensuring an extremely well-rounded musical education, so you can progress at the best possible rate. Since each student's potential is different, each will progress differently. This is also determined by your dedication to daily practice (the more you practice, the quicker you will progress & the more accomplished you will become). This is a 'Team Effort'; I give the guidance and tools. You practice, utilize learn these tools, and off we go! The sky is the limit!

I have been playing the flute since I was in high school. I have performed with flute choirs in high school and college. I have also played the flute in a community wind ensemble. I can work with beginner and intermediate students.
I have a Master's in Music Technology from Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis and a Bachelor's in Music (Technology and Recording) from the University of Indianapolis. I started on the piano when I was in elementary school. I began playing the clarinet, my primary instrument, in 6th grade. I then started playing the saxophone in 8th grade and started playing the flute in high school. I also teach beginning trumpet and ukulele lessons. These are secondary instruments for me so I only teach beginners, but I can help you get started! I have played trumpet on my own off and on for years and I play a couple times a month with local ukulele groups.
*** Lesson Details *** I can give lessons in person (my house or yours) or online! You must have your instrument, necessary materials, and music books at your lessons. You may
need to purchase additional books and sheet music.
Chelsea was very patient and listened to my concerns. She had material ready for me to play and was very kind when she corrected me. She always found something I did right even when I made mistakes. Very good teacher!
September 25, 2017
Chelsea did a great job at our first lesson! She was patient and encouraging. She gave my daughter good suggestions on how she could improve and things to try in areas she was struggling. My daughter felt so much better after the lesson. We will continue to take lessons with Chelsea
September 9, 2017
We sent music to Chelsea in advance and she was able to help my son with the difficult parts of his music. The time was well spent and she explained things well. We look forward to our next lesson and working with her over the next month to help him catch up.
Students will be learning and working in 2 spheres - technique & musicianship. Within those areas fundamentals, tone development, music reading, music theory and history, performing, self critique, and much more will be explored and discussed. Each student will be graded against themselves - I expect that each student makes progress appropriate for them and their ability level. Students are expected and encouraged to be active participants in their music education, so communication is key!
I am a passionate educator, no matter what subject I happen to find myself teaching. There is nothing quite so rewarding as the dawning comprehension of a new skill on a child's face, or their look of triumph after a great accomplishment.
As a teacher, i prefer not to be overly demanding of my students, and instead seek to tailor lessons to their individual interests and tastes. If you enjoy the music, you will want to play, and thus practice more! I prefer to focus on teaching the underlying skills and techniques that will make students successful - practice strategies, sight-reading, and problem solving skills.

Sulina Baek is a good teacher that I had the fortune of working with over the past 2-3 months. She is patient and gives useful coaching tips to improve technique. At the same time, I never felt overwhelmed with too much information during our lessons. Sulina kept everything manageable and actionable and that helped me make a lot of progress. Thus we often covered a lot of ,music lesson, and frequently ran out of time. She is also very knowledgeable in canon and in theory, which has helped me figure out what standard to aim at during my own practice. Sulina helped me turn my motivation into audible results.

Hello! Thank you for checking out my TakeLessons profile. My name is Corinne, and my passion is teaching. Great teachers can have lasting effects on their students, and I cherish the possibility of improving my students’ lives through music.
When I'm teaching a lesson, it may seem on the surface that we're only practicing how to play their instrument well. However, with every student that I meet, my goal is to help them learn how to set and achieve realistic goals. A brand new clarinet student’s weekly goal may be to play their instrument for 10 seconds without taking a breath. An advanced clarinet student’s goal may be to master a piece for their college audition. Both students have challenging goals based on their skill level, but the goals look very different!
I believe that goal-setting is an important life skill that can set a
nyone on a path to greatness – as long as they know how to follow through. My goal is to help YOU reach your goals.
When I am not working with students, you can find me working on my own goals! I practice all of my instruments often, and I am working hard to become a great tap dancer. My non-musical interests include learning about the coffee-making process, learning how to make costumes from scratch, and playing The Sims.
Thank you for your attention, and I hope to meet you soon!
Corinne takes the time to understand where the student is in their learning process and instruct to the appropriate level. She is patient and gives clear instruction and practice techniques. Yea!!

I am a professional musician living in New York City. I have held chairs on Broadway shows such as South Pacific, The King and I, Sunset Blvd, and My Fair Lady. I have also subbed on many more such as Porgy and Bess, Cinderella, Anastasia. in 2017 I won the Low Reed chair audition for Radio City Christmas Spectacular.
I am a bassoonist that decided to start doubling so I came to Hideaki to teach me how to play clarinet, sax, and flute. I had never played a single reed instrument before or had even imagined playing the flute. Hideaki is one of the best teachers you will find. His knowledge of music and is style of playing is second to none. His patient and concise teaching style will take you to the next level in no time. Within a year I was subbing on broadway shows playing flute, sax, and clarinet. I highly recommend Hideaki as a teacher.

I studied with Hideaki for several years, starting off as a beginner clarinet student. He is an incredibly talented musician, who genuinely cares about your progress. Throughout my years of study with him, he had creative approaches to address any issues in my playing and worked patiently to figure out what was best for me. His guidance and expertise were key in developing my interest in music and decision to pursue clarinet through college. I highly recommend him as a teacher for players of all levels.

I took clarinet lessons for a few years with Hideaki and not only is a phenomenal musician, but he is an incredible teacher. His kind and caring personality creates an extremely friendly environment. In addition, his deep knowledge of music and clarinet made learning new notes, rhythms and techniques easy and stress free. He is the greatest teacher I have ever had. I highly recommend him.
In addition to teaching standard classical material, I love to guide my students into improvising and creating their own music. I have MA in Music Performance and play the flute at the Northwest Florida Symphony, as well as for weddings, funerals, and churches. I have more than 10 years of experience in both performing and teaching the flute. My passion is to see others become amazing flutists and bring beautiful music into this world.
My name is Yoana Hilt and music is my passion. I've been playing since I was 12 years old and truly believe that a life filled with music is a life most enriched. My specialty is flute instruction. Nothing else on earth sounds as good or comes as close to the inspiring tones and uplifting melodies that can be played on it. I hope to instill the love and passion that I have for the flute into my students, help them learn how to improvise with it, and go out into the world and perform with their talents. Let's connect soon!
What a delight it is to have Yoana as a music teacher for both of my children. She has the perfect blend of skill training and musical passion that she passes on to them. They not only are learning how to master the songs with excellent technique, but more importantly, she teaches them how to truly feel and understand the music. She adds in fun and even a little competition (to make tracking practice hours more like a game) and is always smiling and full of joy which makes them look forward to lessons. As a parent, I have full confidence that she is giving her whole heart to my children throughout their weekly sessions. I love how much she pushes and stretches them, all while loving and encouraging them at the same time. We look forward to many more years learning from her.

Yoana is so patient with our family and takes the time to notice individual strengths of my children. She takes into account each student's interests and guides and coaches them toward goals they are invested in. She uses a curricula that is classic and gets beautiful results! Yoana is such an amazing cheerleader for her students and her kindness and joy in supporting them is contagious. With her encouragement and strong teaching skill, students are confident and equipped to play music they love.

"I was looking for a teacher to learn how to play the flute. I wanted an expert that could put me on track and motivate me to keep doing better. Encouragin
g me along the way with pointed advice. If you are looking for a terrific flute teacher, you found one ."
"She encourages, she finds analogies to explain, she is more patient with me then I am with myself. She also explains the terms, gives tips on how to read
the notes. She is able to identify the mistakes and give the right advice on how to improve. Her advice on how to practice made all the difference for me. I started with a giant cookie bite sized embouchure and within a few lessons I have managed to make it smaller thanks to her instructions. There is hope for me afterall. Looking forward to playing a duet with her without me making a mess. Thank you Amanda!"
"Great class very responsive and friendly and encouraging"
"He's loving it, thanks!"
"Thank you Mrs. Kelly for being a great teacher. You are patient, kind, and funny. You make me feel confident playing flute and help me to get better so I
can get ,ore opportunities for solo performances. Thank you so much! -Clarisse Lin, Student ☺🎼🎶🎵👍"
"I would highly recommend Bill as a flute teacher. He is a wonderful flautist, himself, in addition to being so skilled at several other instruments. B
ill is very professional, kind, patient, and has always made me feel that he is interested in understanding where I would like to go, in terms of the kind of music I would like to play and the level of proficiency I am aiming to attain. I picked up my flute after 40 years of not touching it (since I was a teenager) and I'm so happy I did. Like many of the other students who have responded on this page, I have learned so much from Bill and have really enjoyed both his lessons, and my personal journey of practice and improvement as a flautist."
"I took lessons with Frannie for more than ten years, starting at age 4 in an introduction to music class at the Brooklyn Music School. Through her I foun
d not just a great love for music but a lens through which I discovered and learned about the world. With Frannie, once a week for nearly my entire childhood, I would learn to practice and work at a piece or phrase, or to interpret and have and opinion on music I played, or to play like I mean every note, and so on endlessly. Those skills were some of the earliest and most important lessons I had about how to live and enjoy my life, and art, and how to work hard, and care about what I do for my own sake and no one else's. And I don't believe just any teacher could have done that for me. Since moving on I have often felt a different excitement and deep understanding of music than many of the peers I met who have spent far more time than me studying music.
I'm still a musician. I graduated recently from Bard College with a degree in music and have since played onstage in a very successful off-broadway musical. I've played in many orchestras including with graduate & conservatory students at Bard, with the New York Youth Symphony Orchestra, and at LaGuardia High School (formerly Music & Art). I have moved on to other instruments, and forms of music, but I credit Frances not just for showing me how much I love music but for teaching me in many ways how to enjoy and get what I want from life. I can't recommend her enough."
"We're making progress. Kim is very patient."
"8 Time Zones Apart Yet Great Flute Lessons
As a flute beginner, I was very reluctant at first to try online lessons, especially that I didn't even know h
ow to put the flute together. I started my flute classes with Heidi one month ago (I'm in Egypt and she's in the US) and in four lessons I'm already playing pieces for Andrea Boccelli... Heidi is an amazing teacher. She was able to overcome all the distance challenges. She even considers personal goals and tries to prepare music from my culture for me to play on the flute. In addition, she's also very flexible and considerate whenever I have personal matters. She's definitely a great teacher."
