About Rene
Knowing at the age of 5 that music was my life, by being brought up surrounded by praise music and gospel, my early exposure to music helped me to find every Instrument and style just my thing! I wanted to play everything and learn all aspects of music. I started with singing in the children's choir and then developed into piano and music theory. At the age of 12 I began to learn classical guitar, and at 15 took on various styles like Flamenco, Jazz and Rock. I graduated from High School having played in the school band achieving recognition In national Institutions Like IAJE (International Association for Jazz Education) and state band finals. I was also composing from a very early age, and at 18 released my first album (self-titled) which can still be heard and purchased today through various music outlets, since i have released over 15
albums with various ensembles and bands. In college I already knew from my previous experience that I wanted to teach and pass on the joy that music brought to my life. I studied Music Theory and Jazz and finished my degree in Music Education. I have been teaching all in all for about 14 yrs. And I have enjoyed every minute I have spent with my students learning as much from them, as them from me. I am looking forward to meeting new and eager students who really want to bring their inner music out to share with the rest of us music aficionados! and develop their skills to the peak of their abilities.

*** Lesson Details ***
My teaching method ranges depending on the student. I believe in my experience that everyone learns differently, therefore everyone develops at their own pace. I try to find key strengths in each student and expose this to their advantage, using their abilities to further develop their skills, this method has shown the most promising results and students usually find themselves playing and performing just a couple of months after their first lessons. Part of my method involves a lot of performance and recital opportunities to help break any fears and inhibitions a student may bring with them. Music is about sharing, so an early exposure to this method helps to strengthen and stabilize a core acceptance of a students style and path, giving them and those close to them a very clear picture of their development and achievements.

*** Studio Equipment ***
Has all instruments at both his home and college studio

*** Travel Equipment ***
I provide lesson material, song charts and a progression scale. I require student to have an Instrument and recommended technique literature.

*** Specialties ***
My classical training began in High School with Influences in Segovia, and Romero I studied classical for 4 yrs. and trained in Jazz and Improvisation with performances In Big Band and group ensemble. Also sang and played in the school gospel choir.

****Personal Statement*****

If you needed a reason

There is no question that music touches us instantly and activates images, emotions and memories that linger with us throughout our lives. As a casual listener or an obsessive music elitist, there are times in our lives when we get blown away by a sound so unique our entire body vibrates and resonates with the touch of something out of this world. I can honestly say when this happens to me I feel as close to a spiritual connection than anything I have experienced otherwise. I believe it is these exact events that have triggered my need to be completely involved in the making, performing and consuming of music. The creative process, to me, is the single obvious reason we exist in this world. We create and share, learn and interpret, build on previous ideas and inspire others to perfect upon this process. It is no doubt a very humbling experience to realize you are part of it all. During this process you come to realize how important you are as an Individual, how there is no other vessel like you in this world, nor has there ever been or ever will. You are here now and your voice, your talent, your gift is an instrument to the great choir of the human spirit. No one but you can relate this, a reason to be, to create, to give.

If you hire my as your instructor, (or your son’s instructor), you will find you or your son immersed in an exciting music environment! I focus my lessons on 5 core skills for my students: Coordination, Rhythms, Music Theory, Sight Reading and Styles & Interpretation. I will apply these concepts in a way that is very intuitively and dynamic, so you will find you or your son playing like a pro in no time!

I also understand that you or your son will develop and learn at unique pace, and in order to further develop your skills and make your learning process more enjoyable, I will treat you as my friend or buddy and not only as my student. This is because studies have demonstrated that people tend to learn more when they make a connection with their instructor. Therefore my goal will be to find your strengths and weaknesses, so I’d know how to successfully convey the right message so you or your son become a better drummer with each lesson.

About Xavier
Hi there! I'm Xavier V. from Bogota, Colombia living in sunny Miami since 2008. I'm bilingual English/Spanish, proficient in French and learning Romanian. I graduated with the highest honors in Music Business from Miami Dade College in 2015, I've been working in broadcast media since after school and now working with ESPN in Coral Gables, FL.

I'm focused, patient, enthusiastic and very active! "Schedule a lesson with me now and start either speaking in Spanish or playing Drums from day 1!."

** Drum prospects read below ***

I've been playing drums since 2000. First I studied drums in Colombia with Shakira's former drummer Italo Lamboglia for 4 years and then when I moved here in US, I've kept refining my craft taking drum lessons at Miami Dade College, learning new techniques and so on.

I'm currently an independent drummer. I
play with many artists and bands as a freelancer, So I get to perform very often live in different venues all over South Florida. I also freelance at different T.V. Networks as a background drummer and percussionist for artists promoting their songs on TV shows. I have won drum contests and competitions on stores and online as well. I have recorded various records and singles with major producers and performed in different countries as a hired gun.

I've been teaching and sharing my knowledge in drums with others since I first started playing drums! I'™m a believer that the more you share, the more you learn, and overtime I've realized that the process never stops. At first I was a drum instructor at a local church in Colombia. I had 10 - 20 students in a single classroom -- It was a great experience! Then when I came to the U.S. I've been mainly instructing privately, so I have plenty of experience.

Schedule a lesson with me now and start learning the art of playing drums. I am looking forward to meeting new and eager students who really want to bring their inner music out to share with the rest of us and develop their skills to the peak of their abilities. After all, you might be the next music prodigy, but perhaps you don't know it yet! See you soon!

Marc is extremely patient and passionate about his teaching. Not only does he emphasize the basic techniques for a beginner like me to master, but also make it fun for me. He also tries to motivate me with music theory and history which definitely help me understand the music better and inspire me to master the basics. Marc has an amazingly amount of knowledge in everything else as well, such as physics etc. that shows up in his teaching from time to time, which makes the learning experience much richer!

Marc is a great teacher. Classes are always very friendly and productive. In my case, each class begins with a review of progress/practice, and ends with a meaningful and personalized homework. He is also very flexible, sometimes I had to move my classes around and he's always super responsive and understanding. I knew nothing about drums, and I am happy I decided to begin my journey to learn how to play them, with Marc as a mentor!

My daughter has been taking lessons with Brandon at the School of Rock in Madison for 4 years . Brandon was the musical director of several performance camps , where the kids participating would learn songs and perform them live in front of an audience after 4 months of intense practices .
Brandon is a great teacher , very good with kids . He was instrumental in helping my daughter become a professional musician , overcome her shyness on stage and taught her the value of hard work, perseverance , and working as a team . Our twelve year old son has been taking lessons with Brandon for two years. We have watched our son's progression as a musician and we are so grateful to Brandon for all of his hard work and dedication. The rapport that Brandon has established with our son is remarkable. He really has a positive way of reaching his students and creating trust. Brandon relates well to his students and really makes learning fun. He motivates our son to meet and exceed his goals. We could not wish for a better instructor for our son. We highly recommend Brandon T. as a music instructor.

My son Cooper, now 13, began lessons with Brandon 2 1/2 years ago. He had never held a set of drumsticks but was interested in playing. Brandons ‘ease in’ make-it-fun approach is a complete winning combination for the student. Brandons ability to also read the student and know when to challenge them has been a key success factor for my son.

Who I have now is a 13 year old boy who practices 2 hours a day minimum, a passion for all things drum related, growing proficiency in theory and varying styles of music and most importantly a young confident musician who regularly plays in front of dozens if not hundreds of people.

I couldn’t have hand picked a better instructor for my kid....

Instruction also includes how to play correctly so as not to develop negative playing habits. In the case that you have developed negative playing habits, how to correct them.

Emphasis is also placed on proper warm up techniques, stretching exercises, holding the sticks correctly, posture, plus drum kit "throne" seat placement, and correct stance, if playing concert snare or percussion. Independence is also developed through simple easy to grasp exercises. In addition, drum exercises are individually tailored to the particular needs of each student.

Chuck has also developed a special ear training method utilizing CD and MP3 technology. This method reduces the amount of time it normally takes to develop good listening skills. These listening skills decrease the time that it takes to learn new songs, and learn how to interact with other musicians.
