Rina taught my son oboe lessons for two years. She was the perfect mix of being approachable, friendly, knowledgeable, and serious about teaching oboe. When I was looking for a teacher I was especially concerned that I find someone who would go beyond teaching how to play the notes, and would get deeply into the technique - the real details of articulation and all of the performance points specific to the oboe. My son always ended lessons being motivated to practice and enjoying the experience. He also mentioned that he learned more in a single lesson with Rina than in months with other teachers. I recommend Rina as an oboe teacher without reservation.

I have students who have agents and who have sung in shows.

About Rebecca
I specialize in teaching technique. Through the correct, high placement of vowels and deep breath support I can teach my students to have free, powerful and controlled voices. I teach all genres but I specialize in opera. I was an opera singer myself and I particularly enjoy preparing students for applying to schools to be a voice performance major. I have a student now who is applying to all the top music schools.

Rebecca is not only professional and patient but she is an expert at identifying the best vocal exercises to address your specific weaknesses. She would make a perfect teacher for beginners, experienced singers and anyone in between. I've been a student for about 10 lessons and have noticed a big difference!

Dr. Collins is currently on the voice faculty at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and maintains a private voice studio at the National Opera Center in New York City where he teaches singers of all skill levels including those who perform on Broadway and at the Metropolitan Opera. He has a passion for vocal instruction and is dedicated to the success of each individual student. This was my first private lesson with Dr. Daniel, most importantly he made me feel very comfortable and I wasn't afraid to sing notes in front of him. Dr.Daniel took the time to gather my history and take notes about what I said. Dr. Daniel was very thorough for our first visit, even though I had only booked my first class to be 30 minutes. I look forward to taking more lessons with him and am excited for our next lesson! Thank you so much!

About Brace
Brace N. has been a prolific performer since his arrival to New York in 1998. Brace recently brought his “powerful bass baritone voice” to Hubbard Hall Opera Theatre as the title character in Don Pasquale. Recent performances include a “Bolgeresque Leporello [that]was truly hilarious” in Don Giovanni with the Bronx Opera; Bass soloist in Handel’s Te Deum and PDQ Bach’s Missa Hilarious and Handel’s Easter Oratorio with the Oratorio Singers and Orchestra of Westfield, New Jersey; Colline in La Boheme with Opera Manhattan; Pandolfe in Massenet’s Cendrillon with New York Lyric Opera Company; Count Ceprano in Rigoletto with San Antonio Opera; Figaro in a concert version of Le nozze di Figaro with the Northern Dutchess Symphony Orchestra; and Pantaleone in Bronx Opera’s Der Drei Pintos.
In July of 2009, Brace had his European opera debut perf
orming the title role of Donizetti’s Don Pasquale as well as the Bonze in Puccini’s Madame Butterfly with Lyrique en Mer Opera Company in Belle Île, France with a national radio broadcast of Don Pasquale’s first act on the radio station, France Musique. In the fall of 2008, Brace had his debut with Toledo Opera as Count Ceprano in Verdi’s Rigoletto with a favorable mention in the Toledo Blade Newspaper that read “In supporting roles soprano Kirsten Chambers as Countess Ceprano and bass-baritone Brace as her indignant husband, Count Ceprano, were standouts in the first act, opening scene”. In March 2009, Brace was invited back to Toledo Opera to perform the 1st Nazarene and the Cappadocian in Strauss’s Salome.
Past performances include Jupiter in Offenbach's Orpheus and the Underworld with Bronx Opera which nabbed Brace a solid review in the New York Times stating that “The bass-baritone Brace, one of the better singers on Saturday, also demonstrated comic gifts as the swaggering, hypocritical Jupiter”; Figaro in Le nozze di Figaro with the Queens College Opera Studio; Christiano in Verdi's Un ballo in maschera with Des Moines Metro Opera where he received a review in the October 2008 issue of Opera News; Finalist in the Azuriales Opera Festival/Competition Concert Series performed in Beaulieu sur Mer, France; a Lincoln Center debut as Ali in an excerpts program of Rossini's L'Italiana as part of the Melody for Peace UNESCO Concert at Avery Fisher Hall; Gregorio in Romeo et Juliette and 2nd Armored Man in Zauberflote both with New Jersey Opera Theater; performer with the Lucerne Festival in Lucerne, Switzerland, under Maestro Pierre Boulez and Daniel Reusse; an Asian debut in Singapore with Singapore Theatreworks as the lead The Cowherd in The Silver River by Bright Sheng; and finalist in the Heinz Rehfuss Competition held in Orlando, Florida.

*** Lesson Details ***
I break up the lessons as follows, unless requested to do otherwise (based on an hour lesson):
-20 minutes warm-up
-20 minutes working range, movement, flexibility, dynamics, breath control and general strengthening of the voice
-20 minutes rep work: we work the song your brought to work on

*** Studio Equipment ***
Piano. Acoustic guitar. Electric guitar. Metronome. Living room seating for parents.

*** Travel Equipment ***
would be nice to have piano on hand if I come to someone's house.

*** Specialties ***
I am mainly an opera singer. That's definitely my forte but have performed and taught other styles, particulalry music theater. Could fiddle with jazz for a bit too but not to take someone to super advanced levels. General performing of any type of singing would also be something I could definitely help with- I myself am a successful performer signed by a major agent in the opera world.

As a graduate of the Juilliard School and having performed worldwide, I want to share how fun, healthy and effective sing is possible with consistence and informed work! No matter your goals, lets build on the skills you already poses and confidence in your own abilities. Let's sing!

The key to great singing is enthusiasm, focus and some hard work. I have worked with students of all ages and my goal is to get you singing the right way and take you from shower diva to confident performer.

A LITTLE ABOUT ME:

As a professional singer and graduate of The Juilliard Sch
ool and working Opera singer, I have had the great fortune of training and performing with some of the best in the business.

With performances at Carnegie Hall and with major orchestras such as the Toronto, Vancouver and Seattle Symphonies and around the world, I feel this gives me a unique perspective on the challenges and successes that are possible with a fun, yet focused and healthy technique based approach. Whether a beginners, intermediate or advanced singers looking to hone your skills in musical theatre classical, jazz and even pop voice.

My goal is a well rounded, relaxed yet supported vocal tone with a focus on breath, and feeling rather than by ear. This ensures that no matter what the repertoire, the situation, or the acoustics of the room, you are always focused on healthy, articulate and projected singing.

I am a passionate, energetic, excited teacher who is crazy about singing and helping students find their voice! I have a Master's of Music from New England Conservatory in Voice and Opera Performance, extensive performing experience in both opera and musical theater, as well as 2 years of teaching experience. I also studied Vocal Pedagogy during my master's degree, so I have a strong, functional understanding of the inner workings of the voice. Most importantly, I simply love to sing. It is my hope that we can share that joy together during lessons!

About Dustin
I am a professional singer and performer with two degrees in music and extensive performing experience. I have studied singing classically for over 10 years and have been teaching actively for 2. I have sung with churches, orchestras, opera and musical theater companies, and more. I also have a strong interest and education in vocal pedagogy, aka how all the little parts of our body work together physically to sing. I've worked with a wide range of students, spanning ages 6 to 30 and differing in experience from the earliest beginner to more intermediate or advanced students.

Most importantly, I firmly believe music, and especially singing should be fun! Singing is an expression of ourselves, and I don't know many greater joys than letting your genuine self shine through song. I am a very energetic, proactive teacher who is excited
to help students sing to the best of their ability. I emphasize hard work and setting goals, but never at the expense of enjoying every moment of music we get to engage in.

I would love to share my passion for singing with you. Together, we will work hard to create beautiful sounds. And of course, we will have the time of our lives doing it!

I am studying to become a professional classical singer. Through my own training, I have discovered that having an amazing teacher – one who is supportive, caring, and hard working, and who will push you and work with you to be better – is the most important tool an aspiring musician can have. I believe that every student is different, as no person's body is the same, and no vocal instrument is the same. Based on my performance in the Teaching of Singing course at Oberlin Conservatory of Music, I was selected to be a voice teacher to non-Conservatory students at Oberlin College. I have now had several students, two of whom, with my assistance, have just been accepted to prestigious summer programs in classical voice. Though I have only been teaching voice to others for a year now, I have been teaching myself alongside my own teachers through practice and independent work for the past nine years, and I have discovered countless techniques and tricks to help every aspect of singing.

About Rachel
I am studying to become a professional classical singer, and am enrolled as a Masters degree candidate in Voice and Opera at Mannes School of Music. Through my own training, I have discovered that having an amazing teacher – one who is supportive, caring, and hard working, and who will push you and work with you to be better – is the most important tool an aspiring musician can have. I believe that every student is different; no person's body is the same, and no vocal instrument is the same.

Based on my performance in the Teaching of Singing course at Oberlin Conservatory of Music, where I just graduated with my Bachelors in Music as a Voice Performance major with a Music History minor, I was selected to be a voice teacher to non-Conservatory students at Oberlin College. I have now had several students, two of whom, with my assistan

As a singer myself, I have discovered countless techniques and tricks to help every aspect of singing, as well as the discovery that what works for some people does not necessarily work for others, and that's ok! The voice is individual because it is inherently unique to the person it belongs to. It is the exciting, demanding, and amazing work of a teacher to bring out each individual's voice, and I love discovering a person's voice with them. I can't wait to work with you and find your voice!
