About Gina
As of May 20th, 2018, I am in New York City again and will be accepting new students as well as reconnecting with anyone who wants to return.
I've completed two graduate degrees: one in Music and the other in Dance and Theater studies.
My undergrad degree is from The Juilliard School and it is in Dance.

I've taught children and grown ups for many years. I have a strong performing career and love the way teaching keeps me in a giving and learning place.

*** Lesson Details ***
With beginning students I am very laid back and patient and believe strongly that in the play of games and experiments technique will develop and manifest. As the student becomes more advanced I become more demanding as do the materials.

As an Acting teacher I have the capacity to take students along all the way to professional and beyond. I'm a membe
r of the Actors Studio, the performing unions and have studied since childhood at ACT and then all over the world including The National in London.

For Dance, I have a wide knowledge and can teach several forms as well as history and materials. In Juilliard I specialized in historical dance of the French Court which is also known as pre-ballet. At present I am studying Tango and other ballroom forms and can teach the beginning levels as well as help choreograph for weddings or events. Of course I also teach Ballet and many forms of Modern Dance. I adore teaching dance composition. To help a dance student make their own dances is very fulfilling.
For the Visual Arts I teach Abstract Painting as well as Installation and Performance Art.
*** Studio Equipment ***
I have supplies and space. Visual Art students need to contribute to materials by finding or purchasing whatever they like and adding to the mix. My students are welcome to use what I have here and I am always adding materials. Many people throw away materials that are perfectly good for art making so keep your eyes open and you'll find all kinds of good things. Visual Art students need to book a 2 hour minimum and I will lower the price if you just let me know you need it.

My fees: I start at a higher fee and after you've been a regular student we can lower the fee for you if you need.

*** Travel Equipment ***
just a space to work in - we can create a work space out of any space.

*** Specialties ***
In dance I teach classical ballet principles for beginners or those who are returning and want to work carefully and privately. I teach from the tradition of Alfredo Corvino's principles of relationship to organic forms and structures for sound development. I studied with Mr Corvino for years and continue to study with Ernesta Corvino.
For acting I teach a combination of classical acting technique with American sense memory and relaxation skills. I am well versed in the teachings of Lee Strasberg and then spent time in London to 'fill in the cracks' of my training with analytical skills as well as the various european influences that the Royal National embrace.
I teach creative discovery in combination with classical devices so the student can discover their own artistry while learning actual classical devices for accomplishing specific goals.

Gina is great! My 14 year old daughter loved her. She helped her work on several techniques and scenes in preparation for an audition. I would definitely recommend her for various levels of experience.
She loves the craft and it shows in her teaching. Shes tough but so loving and enthusiastic.

I have studied, worked as an actress and a director and taught in Berlin, London and New York - both in theater and opera. I was the first person to ever be offered the Juilliard Opera directing Fellowship two years in a row (where I worked primarily with Postgraduate students) and have worked with actors and singers across the country as well as in several German A-houses. After studying a variety of acting methods over the years, I have developed my own method of approaching a character or an audition monologue/song, which encompasses the physical, emotional and intellectual in order to create an easily accessible three-dimensional person. I will not only help you apply said method, but also teach you the tools so you may access it on your own at any time. Finally, I have received critical acclaim as a young director, and - as a teacher - I have a track record of helping people get hired from major auditions.

About Ophelie
I am a professional stage director, who has worked in Germany, England and across the United States. I have worked with singers as well as actors, as a teacher, assistant director and director.

I graduated as an Associate of King’s College London with a degree in Philosophy and significant experience acting and directing for independent theater companies in London.

I then went on to work as an assistant director in major German opera houses, where I learned how to apply the same teaching and dierecting methods with singers.

At only 23 I was offered the Juilliard Opera Directing Fellowship - and I was the first person, to whom it was offered two years in a row. At Juilliard, I mostly worked with the few selected Postgraduate students.

I have considered accepting an adjunct teaching position, but chose to go on directing and tea
ching privately instead. My students have repeatedly gotten hired for auditions I coached them for (amongst other places at the Metropolitan Opera) and gotten great reviews for jobs I coached them on.

Ophelie is an incredibly personable, intuitive, bright director and acting coach! Working with the student’s natural instincts, she invites you to go deeper and further with it. She also helps you think about spacial awareness on stage, in relation to the stage set up and fellow actors, creating an overall beautiful and dynamic scene. I highly recommend working with her!

“I cannot recommend Ophelia Wolf any higher as an acting coach and stage director. I worked with her privately on staging all of my audition arias. Her genius is connecting your unique story to the character. She knows intuitively how to break down emotional/body tension to free up performance and discover your truth. She has a flexible formula for analyzing characters and making them immediately personal to you.
As a German native speaker, she prepared me for all of my audition trips to Germany. With her guidance in perfecting diction and conversational style, I gave a confident tour. I also sought out her method when giving a series of masterclasses on how to interpret characters.
We worked together right before my first audition for the Met, and I got the job! You’ll love working with this director who has experience working with the greatest opera houses in the world."

- Kirsten Chambers - Soprano with the Metropolitan Opera, New York City Opera, Florida Grand Opera, Opera Hong Kong, among others Most Known for her portrayal of Strauss roles, particularly SALOME

Shakespeare Audition Prep:

Auditioning for grad school?
Want to go in for more Shakespeare/Classical theatre work? Or are you completely new to classical work and need some help navigating the basics?
Whatever your needs, I can help you prepare.

As an actor, I've performed in several productions at the Royal Shakespeare Company and in London's West End and I've worked with top classical practitioners like Cicely Berry (Voice & Text legend), Michelle Terry (Artistic Director of Shakespeare's Globe) and Lyndsey Turner (director of Benedict Cumberbatch's Hamlet). I am currently starring Off-Broadway as the Narrator in “Puffs” at New World Stages!

In our coaching sessions, I will match you with the right monologues for your casting; break down the text in simple, playable ways; guide you through character interpretation and intentions and get you ready to face the panel!

About Harry
I moved to New York in 2017 after 10 years of working as an actor in UK theatre. I have worked with some of the UK's top theatre companies, like The Royal Shakespeare Company, and in the West End. My experiences working with top practitioners and artists, like Cicely Berry and Michelle Terry, have given me an understanding of how to approach classical text in a way that is simple and not mysterious. We will break down the text together to give you a personal relationship to your character's objectives.

I set up my coaching business in October 2017 and already have helped students to get into prestigious grad school acting programmes, including Yale School of Drama!

"Harry's coaching has helped me get to final rounds of top UK acting schools and accepted to Yale School of Drama! We worked both on classical and contemporary monologues.
My biggest challenges were with the Shakespeare pieces. Harry helped me gain a better understanding of the meaning of the classical language by working to create a strong personal connection with the text - I felt that in this way the language became closer to me and my reality.

Although my first language is Spanish, finding an honest connection with the text and working with Harry on dialect meant that this wasn't a barrier for me anymore. Harry also helped me find ways to be as relaxed as I could before I entered the audition room and we worked on voice and body warm up and focus exercises. I really recommend his coaching!" - Maia Mihanovich, 2018

About Peter
I am an extensively trained actor with significant experience in everything from Voice and Dialects to Shakespeare to Film/TV and contemporary theater auditions.

I am originally from Alexandria, Virginia, and have previously taught at the American Conservatory Theater's Young Conservatory as well as A.C.T.'s Citizen Artist program, where I coached disenfranchised youth in the Bay Area. Given the training I have received from some of the world's top institutions (A.C.T., RADA, Yale, Georgetown), I have a significant breadth of knowledge to offer both as an educator and as an active NYC based actor.

Students will be taught to examine all kinds of "ways in" to their work, no matter what we cover, and I will tailor every coaching session to the student's needs, whether that be learning to execute a safe and effective vocal warm up to
audition prep to how to unpack the Shakespearean iamb. I will challenge every student to meet their highest potential, and will seek to build upon every lesson with practical advice the student can take forward into any endeavor.

Peter Fanone trained me to thoroughly prepare for a stage play in which I performed. He led me through extensive preparation, starting with thorough warm-ups before each session. It was all essential and enormously helpful.
I also consulted with Peter on some Shakespearean work. His his deep insight and perspective on the material, based on his professional experience with it, drove my advancement.
Peter clearly enjoys bringing out the potential in other actors.

About Kate

My technique is primarily Meisner based but I use a variety of methods to coach and teach based on the needs of the student! I travel to you, to a rehearsal space or am happy to host you in my apartment in Queens. My son had just expressed interest in acting so we worked with Kate in 6 sessions helping him become more comfortable with auditioning, cold reading and scene work. She was attentive, creative and knowledgeable. She made him feel confident and even helped him make some connections with possible agents and managers. The fact that she’s actively auditioning and knows the current state of the industry is a game changer! We continue to work with her for specific auditions and coachings, she’s awesome!

Anytime I'd be working on a monologue or a scene, she would always allow me to do what I felt my instincts were driving me to do and then she'd have insightful conversations afterwards where I'd think about things I wasn't thinking of before, regarding the character or the scene. It gave me a completely new perspective to try the scene again where we'd then tweak things that needed tweaking. She's got a great eye and ear for this stuff!
