I teach piano in the same manner in which I teach every instrument. First I teach students the rudiments of the instrument. Also I teach them how to read and a bit of music theory. From that point I like to follow the students lead. They bring in songs that they would like to learn, or possibly how to play a certain style like Funk, or Blues, or how to approach a classical sonata. At every point I try to point out general aspects of music that need to be learned from the material that they choose.

I have been teaching piano for around 10 years, both in a private and school setting, and love to conquer new challenges and goals with my students. It's important to have a firm foundation, so in the first few lessons you will learn a whole new language! You will learn to read music, to recognize notes, simple rhythm, and start to play your first pieces. If you are not a beginner, the first lesson will consist of evaluating your current level and goals in order to move forward smoothly and quickly. I believe people should love what they play, so let me know your favorite songs! I want to help you reach your full potential, therefore I expect my students to be on time, ready to work, and be prepared. I have experience working with all levels, and can't wait to help you grow!

Katie is a fun, light-hearted, joyous piano teacher. My lessons are 100% pure fun! She challenges me while inspiring me at the same time. She has taught me to play basic and simple pieces with amazing drama and interest. Her expertise shines through in each lesson I take. I contribute my progress to her showing me how to practice. Measures that would take me days at home take me ten minutes with her! Katie is definitely a rare gem. I feel privileged to have such a talented teacher.
She would be a rare teacher in her area with a mixing of Russian musical heritage and European teaching.
In spite of her young age she already has had several years of teaching experience and her students have made very good progress.
I would highly recommend her to students of all ages. She will make the best choice of repertoire, build technical skills and develop the musicianship that is necessary for making a difference for a lifetime love of the musical arts.
I have full confidence in her skills. I have love and respect for her and I am sure you will too.

Over the past 12 years, we've given over 3,000,000 lessons to happy customers around the world.

I took just a couple of lessons so far with GFire, but I learned more than by myself in years. She had a lot of patience and explained everything very thoroughly, helped with tips, and was generally very helpful. I am taking a break now from my lessons for a few months, but can't wait to get back to my lessons with her once time allows. We did online lessons through Facetime and, even though I was a bit skeptical before i started about having online lessons, it turned out to be a very good experience and it worked very well. All in all, a great experience."

Struggling to get through the fast piano songs you're dying to play? Here, Helendale, CA teacher Sylvia S. shares her tips for success... Piano is an easy instrument to learn. You push a key, and a note sounds. Compared to instruments like the violin, which can take months and months of dedicated practice before a pleasant sound comes out, piano seems like a walk in the park. But because of this, it’s also one of the easiest instruments to learn to play poorly. Many piano students be …
