I have been teaching piano almost as long as I have been performing, coming up on 10 years. To date, I have taught lessons to over 100 different students ranging in age from 5 to 70, and ranging in skill from complete beginner to college piano performance major. I can teach students of any level and help them overcome any problem, whether that is a technical problem, interpretative problem, or having pain during playing.

Not every student is going to think I’m the best fit for them. I expect consistent practice, completion of assignments, and attention to detail in music. I have had many trial lessons that don’t pan out because the student or parent thinks my expectations are too high for them. Make no mistake; I expect a lot, but I also care deeply about music and have great understanding and sympathy for those who genuinely try. Winner of several awards and competitions, pianist Jason Thomas has been recognized locally and internationally for his warm playing and personality.

Jason is based in New York, receiving his Bachelors and Masters from Manhattan School of Music (MSM), and is currently finishing the last semester of his Doctoral Studies from MSM.

Jason's extensive teaching career includes giving Piano Lectures at notable schools, including Rutgers University, giving master classes for advanced students at MSM, as well as helping students prepare for auditions to various schools. Jason welcomes all levels from absolute beginner to professional.

Experienced violin, viola and piano teacher of 30+ years available for eager students of all experience levels and ages! I structure my lessons so students learn what they want to learn, while also building a strong foundation of reading, theory and performance skills. I specialize in classical music. I use a variety of methods and literature all dependent on personal need and style of each student.

I have been playing piano for over 10 years and teaching piano for over 3 years. I enjoy teaching everyone from beginners to early advanced players. All my classes start with a strong foundation of technique that can be applied to whatever genres of music you choose to play, from classical to pop to movie scores, musical theater and Disney songs. You will learn a lot and have fun doing so!

As a classically trained pianist, we cover theory, fingering, scales, history and of course, classical piano as well as whatever else is needed to reach your goals!

In classical piano lessons we can explore works the great works of the classical composers. My favorites are Bach, Beethoven, and Debussy. I am always happy to assign repertoire but welcome students bringing in a piece they'd like to learn.
