About Gio

I studied music at UCF (Orlando), focusing on classical and jazz guitar, but I also have years of experience playing rock, blues, folk, hip-hop, and musical theater on both guitar and drums.

I have been teaching guitar, drums, and piano for about eight years to students of all ages. Music is what I'm passionate about and it's what I enjoy. I want to inspire that same passion into the hearts and minds of others.

*** Lesson Details ***
I am a laid-back teacher, fun, and I focus on the needs, abilities, and ambitions of the student. In turn, students must realize that learning an instrument takes a lot of work and dedication. One can't expect to learn very much if s/he only practices or thinks about the instrument during the lesson. If the student is willing to put some time into practicing, then I will help them go far!

*** Studi

o Equipment ***
I have several guitars, a drum kit, djembe, mandolin, clarinet and full-size keyboard.

*** Specialties ***
Guitar: Classical, jazz, American or Irish folk, rock and pop; lead or rhythm.
Drums & Percussion: All genres
Piano: Classical (includes sight reading)

About Christina

Greetings! My name is Christina and I am a recent Rutgers University graduate with a double major in both music and economics. I have had over 12 years of private training in piano, with additional experience in violin, orchestra, choir and various performance-related events. Over the years I have studied with numerous pianists and incorporated many different methods and techniques that have greatly influenced my own teaching. I have been teaching music lessons to both children and adults since high school, and am comfortable teaching any age. I do believe that a solid foundation in any instrument begins with music theory, and it is something I incorporate little by little into each lesson; however, it is very important to me that the learning process be enjoyable, and I strive to make each lesson as fun, inspiring, and exciting as p

ossible!

*** Lesson Details ***
Curricular rigor is chosen to fit the needs of each individual student, depending on whether the student is preparing for the challenges of a conservatory, or simply learning for recreational needs.
For beginners, I often refer to both the Faber and Music Tree curriculum. However, I am flexible and open to requests from students, since my goal is for students to learn, advance and enjoy the overall experience.

second studio---travel from home

I am a good balance of disciplined yet easy going. I use a few different methods and books in combination with my own ideas to give a student a well rounded musical education. Students can expect to learn as much as they want to from me. I start with basic open chords and notes on the neck, and progressively get to more difficult scales, arpeggios, and music reading. The goal is to make my students as well rounded as possible and to be able to handle any musical situation they encounter.

*** Studio Equipment ***
Home Studio Built I

n (side den): computer, amp, microphones, seating for parents

*** Travel Equipment ***
I bring my own amp, guitar and music stand. Students should have their own instrument to learn on.

About David

Greetings, future students. I've been teaching piano for 30 years. I'm a professional pianist working mostly in Manhattan's major hotels. I play all styles of music and so I can teach all styles. Classical (I was accepted to the Juilliard Preparatory School at age 12), pop, jazz, blues, Broadway etc. I believe that learning to play the piano should be an enjoyable experience. Just as Sesame Street came up with the concept that learning can be fun, I do the same. Children as well as adults truly like me. This is extremely important. Thank you for reading my profile.

Coming back from my third lesson with David, and looking forward for many many more to come. I have been by many teachers before and never had such a good experience. At our first lesson David already knew my strength and weaknesses and together we are working for me to become the "consommé" musician.

Debby
"My son is the legacy of both a world-famous composer Grandfather and of a Great Uncle widely known as a musical genius.
Unfortunately the opportunity to
nurture any of that genetic musical talent passed me by, but it absolutely lives within him.
Janis has been remarkably subtle at freeing the music within my son's heart.
This is not only a gift for me, and our family, but it's a lifetime of unending self-expression for him.
I cannot recommend Janis highly enough."

"Ryan is a wonderful teacher. Love that he first starts in the fundamentals and is able to slowly pave the way for you to achieve your own personal goals."
Greg
"Isaac is an excellent teacher and is highly recommended. His method is not centered on drills, music reading or repetition, but rather on getting an unde
rstanding of how the notes, chords work together. In so doing, the student gets a great understanding of theory and it opens the door to improvisation. In addition he's very patient with folks such as myself who don't come to class with a deep understanding of music theory."

"I've taken a few lessons with Michelle now and I am very happy with my experience! Michelle is great at customizing her lesson to her student. I actually
tried a few different teachers in the area before finding Michelle and no one seemed to "get" what I was looking for. With Michelle I feel challenged at an appropriate pace and am able to focus on the important details. Michelle has lots to offer and even in just a short time has helped me to improve immensely! I am very excited to continue studying with Michelle."
