I have been in music and dance since the age of 5, and I have had amazing experiences as a musician and fine arts educator. I teach multiple instruments, singing, dancing, and acting. I've played with Paul Simon's bass player (Bakithi Kumalo) several times where I sang, played piano, and flute.
I've been teaching for 20 years now, and I have an almost 100% success rate at keeping students for 5 years or more because I see each person as an individual and because of my extensive experience, can tailor custom lessons to achieve any goal the learner might have.
Many of my students are at the top of the musical group, win state and national competitions, have gotten scholarships into music college, perform gigs at various coffee houses and restaurants and such, many have won talent competitions, and it has been great therapy for several students.
I am very nice, encouraging, and exacting. Because I try to 'see' each individual, I can properly motivate each one to produce ...

Nina is amazing!!!!!!!! Best piano instructor..... kind and patient!!!! We simply adore her!!!!
Julie
Nina has been teaching my three boys piano for almost 10 years. Words cannot express how lucky I feel to have found her. She is very patient and has been excellent about keeping them interested and excited about music and performances at NYSSMA festivals and recitals. The three boys are very different and Nina varies her approach and temperament to inspire, motivate and to develop concentration. She encourages them to not only improve technically, but to understand the meanings and emotions of each piece. I give her my highest recommendation!

I come from a very musical family and have years of professional gigging experience with cover bands, mostly rock and pop, but also country, folk, indie, jazz, blues. I teach and love classical piano as well! All levels are welcome. First I will help you find the method book and level that is appropriate for you, then I help you plan out your goals. My studio has recitals every 3 months. I like to focus heavily on rhythm reading skills as a foundation for all instruments I teach, and once you have that down, reading music is easy!! :)

I've watched Brittany create a choir with a hundred kids, and I've seen the difference she made one on one with my own kiddo's musical education over a couple of years, both for piano and vocals. She is patient, knowledgeable, and fun, and she loves what she does! Terrific communication with parents, too.

Young multilingual (English, Cantonese, and Mandarin) piano and violin teacher who combines the formal traditional Eastern style of teaching, and the fun approach of Western style of teaching into his music lessons.

Fun lessons but also challenging
- I believes that fun lessons are easy to gain young student interest, but it often lack to give them motivation. In the lessons, I often challenge my students, let them be self-motivated and become a better musician.

Techniques
- I focus lessons on teaching proper techniques with their instruments. With my experiences in taking lessons from American, Chinese, and Russian teachers, I learnt a great spectrum of techniques and like to teach what I had learn.

Learning pieces and other related topics
- Playing pieces and songs is only a small piece of playing an instrument. In lessons, I also teaches proper music theory, and ear-training.

I haves students from age 4 to retirement age. Early beginner to preparing for college ...

Twenty eight years of experience working with students of all levels and ages has shaped me into the teacher I am today. Although I do tailor my sessions to suit the individual student, here are some expectations you can have of me.
Beginning students up to age 11 typically begin with the Bastien method. This curriculum is great at introducing interval recognition. I supplement this with fun pieces from Alfred, where students can strengthen sight reading skills. Flashcards are also used as reinforcement.
Older kids and adults will begin with Alfred's adult course and progress quickly into independent playing.

For all ages - After the student has reached a level of more independent playing, the student/parent will help select the direction in which we progress. Classical music, composition, and popular music are just a few of the possibilities!

All lesson books and materials are provided by me and are included in the cost of lessons. Students are welcome to provide additional
