By listening to + watching my students to determine where they're at musically, I try to help develop their skills through custom tailoring each lesson based on the education and experiences I sought out.

If you're interested in learning to become a musician through the many instruments that make up your drum kit - send me a message.

My influences include Buddy Rich, Animal from The Muppets, Metallica drummer Lars Ulrich, Smashing Pumpkins drummer Jimmy Chamberlin, John Bonham, very recently Keith Moon, and my mentor & favorite person in the world, Normie Wayne.

My first lesson with Lynn was wonderful. I was greeted at the door with a warm smile That made me feel at ease. I'm an absolute beginner and even my mistakes were fun.
Lynn; I love your personality and your teaching method. I got a lot out of that lesson.
And, by the time I'm 75 which is in about 5 months and with your guidance I'll be able to play a tune or two. I got a good teacher. Looking forward too lesson Number 2.

I've worked with Lynn for going on three years now and she has without a doubt been one of the most talented and most enjoyable people to make music with that I've ever encountered. Not only does she rock the sax better than most, she's extremely humble and approaches music with an openness and extremely positive energy. I give her my highest recommendation as a great teacher, and a great human being.

Learn how to play the drums the RIGHT way.

About Asaf
I would not be the person I am today if music wasn't the focal point in my life as it is. Not only do I absolutely love performing and studying music myself, but I adore teaching as well. Part of the musical experience is taking what you hear and what you learn from others and building on it to create your own musical contributions. I take the gifts other teachers and musicians have given me very seriously and subsequently feel the great importance of imparting my knowledge unto others.

Whether you want to be a professional, or just be competent enough to enjoy yourself, we all practice, study technique and gain knowledge about music with really only one goal in mind: To have all the tools necessary to express ourselves adeptly through music. All the technique in the world will not make you a great musician. Similarly, you can be extre
mely creative and knowledgeable, but if you don't have the technique and vocabulary needed to express your ideas, you will find yourself very limited and suppressed musically.

My philosophy about teaching follows that I am here to provide you with those tools in a fun, exciting way. When I say "tools" I mean the whole toolbox. This includes giving you the technique, correcting bad habits, providing listening material, finding holes in your playing and much more. A good music teacher must be more than an instructor, but a mentor and an inspirational guide. My best teachers were the ones who could cultivate my playing not just through the physical aspects but ESPECIALLY through the cerebral. We ALL need encouragement and inspiration to get the best out of our natural talent. I love to encourage my students to do their best. To strive to not only complete exercises, but to execute them well. Every student is different, and therefore I will tailor their education with me on an individual basis. I expect a lot out of my students because I strongly believe in my teaching ability as well as their ability to learn and feel good about their progress.

My approach to providing all these things is modeled around my best experiences in learning and performing. I've studied under some of the absolute best players and teachers in the world. Here are just a couple:

World renowned drummer and educator

TOMMY IGOE from
The Lion King on Broadway
The Birdland Big Band
Numerous instructional books and DVDs.

Highly sought after percussionist

TOM KOLOR
Graduated from William Paterson as well as with a Masters from the Julliard School of Music
Professor of Music at the University at Buffalo.

IAN FROMAN
Professor of Drums at Berklee School of Music
Professional, world renowned Drummer

I've also graduated Cum Laude from the University at Buffalo with a degree in Music Performance, Dean's List and Honor Roll awards.

Some of my experience includes being featured in Tommy Igoe's "Great Hands For a Lifetime" DVD which received 5 stars from Modern Drummer magazine in 2010. I've also played great venues like Gramercy Theatre and Central Park in NYC among others. I've played in Big Bands, Symphony Orchestras, Klesmer and Percussion ensembles, and more.

I really could go on forever talking about music, what it means to me, how I approach teaching, etc. When you love music and teaching as much as I do, you really can't help it. It's ingrained in you. Precisely as ingrained as I like to think being a fun, caring, disciplined, attentive teacher is in me. Whether it be for you or your child, I can easily promise that I will deliver the same success-bound mentoring that I have to my students for over 10 years running.

Can't wait to hear from you!

-Asaf

*** Lesson Details ***
-I am here for you.

I would not teach if I wasn't very interested in the progress of my students. I want you to be the biggest, baddest, awe-inspiring drummer/percussionist possible. I want to ultimately end up at your shows and concerts and be able to say "That's MY student." You can always be guaranteed that when studying with me everything I assign has precisely that goal in mind.

-Strict or Laid Back?

Many people might ask if I'm strict, or laid back. My response is that I am excited and driven to help you reach success. I will never scold you because that sort of practice has no place in teaching. I also understand that learning isn't just a straight upwards incline of progression. We're all humans. Sometimes we progress astronomically in a short period of time and sometimes we have to fight hard to nail something. Sometimes we have a lot of time to practice, and sometimes we simply don't. My job is to make the most out of every situation and help you learn no matter what. That being said, I will still hound you to practice as much as healthily possible!

-What do you want out of music?

Probably the most important question I will undoubtedly ask you upon meeting you is why you are taking lessons. There is no way to formulate a tailored lesson plan if I don't know what it is you're working towards.

-Expected Material

Like I said, I can't tell you very specifically what your lesson plan will be, but I CAN give you examples of what I almost always assign. Individually written out exercises, exercises from books, assigned reading/listening, song covers, chart writing/reading, improvisational exercises, rudiment study, warm-up routines, among others.

-Don't be Afraid to Make Mistakes

Mistakes are part of the learning process! If you aren't making mistakes then I'm doing something wrong. Never be afraid to make mistakes.

-You Get What You Give

I promise I'll be there for you. I'll be there to give you the material and show you the path, but you're going to have to be there for yourself as well. The more prepared you are for our lessons, the more you will grow from the time we spend together.

Mastering an instrument takes time and effort both by student and teacher. The sooner we get started the sooner you get on that path. I'm ready whenever you are.

*** Studio Equipment ***
detached studio 3 professional drum sets seating for parents

*** Travel Equipment ***
Numerous practice pads and snare stands. I expect my students to only provide their own Drum Sticks and books.

*** Specialties ***
I pride myself on being as versatile as I possibly can be. I can aptly teach most styles including Jazz, Rock, Funk, Latin, Hip Hop\R&B, Classical, and more.

Flexible teaching methods!

Asaf is just brilliant. During the first session, my son was very distracted by the other things in the music room ie lights, instruments etc but Asaf managed to engage him by being extremely flexible in his teaching ie he is not wedded to any order and has a lesson plan in mind but goes with the flow and the interest of the child - this ensures that all that was intended on being covered is, and as a result of the flexibility, my son just loves these drum lesson and Asaf. Asaf makes him focus and has built a great teacher/student relationship in only 3 session. I would highly recommend Asaf.

Bobby has a wealth of knowledge and passion about music and can help you learn how to play your favorite songs on drums from any genre (alternative, indie, pop, hip-hop, jazz, classic rock, dance and more). 2 months ago, I knew nothing about drums, and in just 9 lessons so far I can now play a handful of songs and grooves. Drum lessons with me are unique because I am extremely sensitive to every one of my student's individualities. Though I do use curriculum frequently, lessons become very customized to each students individual wants and needs. No two students are the same, so neither are any two of my lessons. I am careful to figure out exactly what each student is wanting to get out of lessons with me and I work to give them just that - and more!

About Lex
Music has been a daily part of my life since getting a drum set at 12 years old. By age 16 I began to realize that I would need to learn more instruments than just the drum set to satisfy my musical appetite. Since then I have spent countless hours learning the piano, bass, and guitar. I also studied many other members of the percussion family, such as the marimba, vibraphone, timpani, bendir, riq, mbira and djembe. Just as I love music from every variety of instrument, I love music from every variety of genre and culture.
As a teacher I try to pass my love of learning music of all types on to my students. My goal is for every student that comes through the doors of my teaching studio to not only improve technically, but more so to have the way that they listen to music be transformed. My musical philosophy is that the musician with
the most receptive ears is more valuable than the musician with the musician with the most virtuosic technique.
Since moving to New York in November, 2016, I have performed as a drummer at many staple New York venues, such as The Bitter End, Feinstein’s 59 Below, the Metropolitan room, Silent Barn, Baby’s All Right, Pianos, Arlene’s Grocery, Silvana’s, and Brooklyn Bazaar. I am the drummer for three bands, Poppies, Smoke and Sugar, and King Jane, all active in different parts of New York’s multi-faceted music scene. I have also been active as an instructor, teaching drums, percussion, guitar, piano, bass, and vocals out of Guitar Center Brooklyn since January of 2017.

Learning drums is extremely fun and satisfying! It involves the entire body and the mind, challenging in many different ways and extremely rewarding.

While it can be demanding to learn an instrument, it can be as easy as you want it to be. Our lessons can be designed to fit your personal goal. In the lessons we will play songs, study technique and reading and learn different genres of music - all while having fun!

I have been teaching for over 10 years, with experience in all levels (Beginner to Advanced) and in every age group. I am very passionate about teaching music, I believe it has the power to change lives, and also helps with just putting a smile on your face :)

About Noam
I have always been in love with music. Since I was a kid, listening to 90s Rock and Pop music, through my teenage years listening to 60s Rock, Progressive Rock and Jazz and up to today - listening and playing practically anything. The drums have always attracted me, so I started playing when I was 12 years old. The first album I've recorded with my friends came out when I was 16, and was heavily influenced by Prog Rock music. Around the same time, I started listening to Jazz which became my passion in music and life. I went on to study in an arts high-school, and later went to Berklee College of Music, from which I've graduated with a Masters degree in music performance and production and sound engineering.

I have been teaching for over 10 years now, and I am extremely passionate about it. I believe music can change lives, and instill
extremely important values. I am proud to say some of my students have already made impressive musical achievements, some have begun studying in Berklee themselves (with impressive scholarships) and all of them are having fun playing drums.

Noam is a fantastic teacher! I had a great time learning with him. He was very patient, creative and supportive. We studied different genres of music and went through rhythms from all around the world - it was so interesting. Noam was always very punctual and super professional. Highly recommended!

Well, there are a lot of good things to say about my time studying with Noam. He was always very versatile with teaching different genres and how to play each and every one of them (in dynamic ways, styles, independence wise and etc.) He helped me so much master my own craft. He also taught me how to read music and to think musically as a drummer and a side man, when I'm playing with a band, and even as a solo player. He would always make sure I was at my best when I showed him each new assignment that he gave me, and he always encouraged me to be at my best. He knows how to unlock potential in his students, and teach them how to build up that same potential. Even after all of this, He was always down to earth, generous, a one of kind soul and a loving teacher, and I always looked up to him and till this day, I see him as one of my mentors. I really wish I could learn more from him, if I wasn't in a far away country.
