I specialize in digital painting, with my strength in human portraiture and cute animals. I also create background paintings in the context of video games.

My medium of choice is primarily digital (Photoshop, but mostly GIMP).

I've graduated with a Bachelor's in Fine Arts from Carnegie Mellon University, and worked for Disney Research for a year and a half. I now work as a freelance artist, implementing my skills as a digital painter very often.

My goal is to help students improve markedly and achieve their goals in painting. I can also help students build (college) portfolios.

I have been teaching professionally for more than 10 years. I can teach a total beginner and I can guarantee the profound change in his skill level (regardless of his age), after 2 months of the attentive following of my instructions. I like to watch the progress of my student and this is what brings me the best satisfaction in my occupation.
I think that every human being is unique with his own unique way of thinking and perception of the common things. When teaching, I believe in dialogue, for this reason, I never record my lessons on video, except for the promotional needs. I like to meet new students, to understand their way of thinking and to invent the individual teaching approach or methodology for each one of them.

My expertise is helping students develop a deeper relationship with painting and drawing while encouraging a dialog with the history of art and contemporary art practices.

Over the past ten years, I have taught a variety of painting and drawing courses. Having taught Painting and Color at University of Illinois at Chicago for a year during my graduate studies, I honed my skills as an educator. Teaching at Massachusetts College of Art Summer Programs between my BFA and MFA gave me the experience and skills to develop my teaching skills. My class is challenging and engaging for all students.

I am an independent professional visual artist, with over 20 years' hands on teaching experience in U.S. and abroad.
At the age of 13, I began learning how to paint with my father, who is an established artist, in an informal studio class. Later, I decided to pursue higher education in fine arts and received my BFA and MFA degrees. While working on my Bachelor’s degree, I began teaching in schools and later in my private studio.
My expertise is to help others to discover their special talent, as I believe every person has a unique sense of creation. As an experienced art teacher and mentor, I have always provided a solid education for every one of my students and I have demonstrated an ability to engage students from diverse academic backgrounds and age groups.
My goal is to develop an understanding of and enthusiasm for arts in others by addressing different learning styles. I demonstrate both traditional practices and contemporary critical and technical approaches to painting.

I love teaching art! I taught in the South Carolina school system for 5 years before having children but continued to teach privately at home. Now I teach evening classes twice a week to adults and we focus mainly on painting with acrylics. I have approximately 25 students and I'm amazed at how they are improving week to week..... and how much fun we have! I am great at teaching step-by-step lessons and encouraging students to add their own creative & unique touches. Also, I own a wholesale company called My Island.... I sell my art to retailers in the US and Caribbean; my designs are reproduced on tote bags, placemats, pillows, canvases, and lots more. I am also a successful Etsy Shop Owner.... GiftandhomebyGerri. Painting is a great creative outlet for people to spend time relaxing and make something beautiful that brings you pride and joy. Anyone can paint! All it takes is time and a willingness to make mistakes and learn from them. I’ve been painting for 8 years and teaching for 1. I welcome all students who are interested in picking up painting as new hobby or returning after a long time away. We’ll build out your painting techniques and color theory so you can paint from real life or something abstract.
