My curriculum includes notes in relation to fretboard, chord shapes and construction, theory, sight singing and ear training, scales, improvisation, strumming/picking techniques, and more. I can come to you!
I have an associates degree in music and I have been teaching lessons for 10 years now. I also have experience as a substitute teacher. As a substitute, I have taught all grades, all subjects, and I have helped out many kinds of students each with their own way of learning.
Besides teaching, I love learning too. Anytime I have a question I immediately start seeking out the answer. Learning never stops!
*** Lesson Details *** Ever wondered how musicians write music? Why do they make the choices they make? Why do those choices work? Why does music work the way that it does? I can answer all these questions and much more.
With me as your guide, I will unlock your musical superpowers and make you capable of things you didn't know were possible. I have many different methods for teaching not only technique, but how to listen, and ho
w to think creatively so that you can unlock your full potential.
*** Travel Equipment *** I can provide my guitar, picks, and tuner and that's really all you will need as well.
I'll occasionally bring my laptop with me to use some music software to assist in my lessons.
I'll always have pens and paper so I can make notes or diagrams if needed. I highly recommend that my students have a spiral notebook so I can more easily cater to them.
*** Specialties *** I specialize in many musical genres including rock, ska, punk, progressive, jazz, folk, and more. Music theory is a big part of what I do as it's the universal language of music. If you learn enough theory, you can learn ANY instrument.
John is incredibly smart about theory and understanding the guitar having worked out his own individual way of learning that he is happy to share his trade secrets.

My son was new guitar player, he has now had several lessons with John. We have seen his skills grown exponentially. John really connects with him and keeps him engaged. He has taught him soo much in such a short span of time. John is a fantastic teacher!
I studied classical guitar on the college level. For those interested, I can supply needed instruction on classical guitar technique, reading, and performance.
I studied classical guitar and composition at Asbury College and later more in depth guitar studies rock, jazz, and classical at the Atlanta Institute of Music. I have been teaching steadily for the past ten years as well as spending my time with various other musical projects such as leading worship for my church, performing for various parties and weddings, and composing and recording music for a short film. I use my experience and broad understanding of music to inform the way that I teach, so that my students have a robust experience of all aspects of music.
*** Lesson Details *** I have a lesson plan that I follow for beginning students to get them through the basics. As a teacher I am laid back, and positive, but always try to give the student a clear reflection of how they are progressing. I find that some students thrive with
a lot of structure and others prefer a looser approach and I am quite comfortable teaching both ways. If the student maintains a consistent practice regimen, they should be able to play songs from the radio within 3 or 4 months.
*** Studio Equipment *** Lessons in the living room with an amp, keyboard, computer, desk, parents can sit on couch in a separate room
*** Travel Equipment *** I expect my student to provide their instrument (including amp if necessary) and any instructional materials required.
*** Specialties *** I have had a lot of experience teaching beginning and intermediate students with method books, and have used them to teach reading, theory, technique, and repertoire. Most often, I take a slightly looser approach which I feel allows me to mold my teaching to fit the individual student's needs
We went over a lot of stuff. Im a cellist who has had bass lessons but was getting difficult for the simple reason that it wasnt methodical in any way. My goel is to transition to upright and Wes has enough musical knowledge to prepare toward that goel.
- posture - care of the fingernails - reading standard music notation - naming notes on the fretboard - repertoire - right hand exercises with the free stroke and rest stroke
Lucian W is an alumnus of Berklee College of Music in Boston and former faculty member of the Hartford Conservatory. His vocal studies have been with Jacqueline Jarrett and David Baker in Connecticut, Jane Ellison at Loyola University in Montreal, noted operatic tenor Carmine Gagliardi in New York City, and Gina Moretta (whose students have included Gloria Estefan and Jon Secada) in Miami. He studied privately with world famous jazz guitarists George Benson and Chuck Wayne and has had a full time performing career of several decades as a guitarist, pianist, vocalist, bassist, arranger and orchestra leader. Lucian believes that by sharing his enjoyment of making music with his students, he can give them confidence in other areas. That is because, in order to make music, they must go through a process of physical discovery through pr
actice. They are then empowered by experiencing the connections between inspiration, work, and pleasure. He performs, as a solo entertainer, an unusually wide ranging repertoire because of his versatility on guitar, piano, and vocals. Being an accomplished arranger with a vast library of charts also allows him to lead a ten piece orchestra as competently as a trio or quartet. He has performed extensively in New York, Chicago, Cape Cod, and Florida.
*** Lesson Details *** I always try to make lessons as comfortable and enjoyable as possible yet challenging enough to maintain interest. I build lessons around the student's individual interests (specific songs or styles) so that he or she can learn the technical fundamentals in a relevant context. My own curriculum is supplemented by the following: Guitar: Hal Leonard Guitar Method, Aaron Shearer Classical Guitar Method Piano: Alfred's Basic Piano Course , John W. Schaum Piano Course Voice: Jeffrey Allen's Secrets of Singing, Nicola Vaccai Practical Method
*** Studio Equipment *** Hardman baby grand acoustic piano OptimusMD1600 electronic keyboard Crate TX50D guitar amplifer
*** Specialties *** - Singing lesson time is generally divided 50/50 between voice building and repertoire. I accompany vocalists on both piano and guitar, teaching the melody notes as they are sung along with the piano. Then, once the melody is learned, I often switch to the guitar with just chordal backing. The acoustic guitar is also softer than the piano and lets the singer hear their own voice better. For voice building, I use my own concepts plus approaches of famous voice teachers like Jeffrey Allen, Seth Riggs, and Anthony Frissel. - I am very experienced performing all styles of guitar and can cater to the student's specific area of interest, whether it be rock, folk, classical, or jazz. - With piano, I work on fundamentals of reading and technique. Learning basic harmony and chord construction starting with triads (3 note chords), the student can soon read single stave lead sheets (a form of music notation widely utilized by professional musicians) as well as the grand staff. This approach trains the ear and makes learning how to play popular songs much easier.
I am an experienced Classical Guitar teacher of 30 years. My students have gone on to play professionally, have their songs on iTunes and teach at the college level. Available for eager students of all experience levels and ages! I structure my lessons to build strong technique from the ground up. I taught Classical at the College level for over 20 years and would like to put that experience to work for you! I typically use the Shearer, Noad and the Royal College of Music Series method books to get beginners and intermediate students started. I use several app which help make your learning experience more enjoyable. Looking forward to working with you.
Welcome to my TL's profile!
If you're looking at this site, you're already on your way to becoming an AWESOME musician! Whether this is your first attempt at music lessons or you've been playing for a while and trying to improve your skills, I'm EXCITED about working with you. I am a professional music educator and performer that has a passion for music and teaching. I will gear each lesson to fit your musical interests and playing level, while I encourage and motivate. My goal is to use proven teaching methods and a supportive learning environment to help you realize your musical potential, as well as having FUN while doing it.
Here's some background about myself, to help you decide if I'm a good fit as your new instructor.
I come from a family of musicians. Began guitar lessons at age five as the Beatles were in
vading the American music scene. I grew up in New Jersey, performing in rock bands until becoming interested in classical guitar. With New York City only a short bus ride away, I spent as much time as possible in the city, studying guitar with Russian born Classical Guitarist, Dr. Alexander Bellow, and Jazz Legend "Bucky" Pizzarelli. During this time, I attended recitals of such notables as Andre Segovia, Julian Bream and John Williams. Being immersed in this musical scene inspired me to make music my life.
Earned a degree in Classical Guitar Performance from the Hartt School of Music at the University of Hartford, where I studied under the direction of guitar pedagogue, Richard Provost. While at Hartt and shortly after, I performed in numerous Master Classes for internationally acclaimed artists such as Manuel Barrueco, Christopher Parkening, Oscar Ghiglia, Michael Lorimer, and Carlos Barbosa-Lima.
I have taught guitar at the college level for over twenty years teaching on the music faculties of University of Central Florida, Rollins College, Stetson University, Bethune Cookman College, Florida Southern College, and St. Leo College. I taught private guitar lessons, class guitar, and guitar ensemble
I have appeared hundreds times at Disney and Sea World as well as other venues around Central Florida. My experience includes performing solo and in small groups. I have also performed with rock groups, stage bands, folk groups, classical ensembles, jazz combos, Broadway shows, operas, as well as solo recitals, and concerto appearances.
Throughout the years I have had many unique experiences while performing. One of my favorites being the opportunity to play the MASH theme song for Alan Alda as well as other stars in attendance at a cast party for the TV show, Win, Lose or Draw at EPCOT Center.
Although I enjoy performing, I considers teaching music to be highly gratifying. The importance of giving students a good foundation with the proper technique and performance skills cannot be underestimated. When a student can play a song from beginning to end with style and confidence you know you've given them a gift that will offer them enjoyment for the rest of their lives.

Eric is a knowledgeable, friendly and patient teacher.

I would highly recommend Eric at House of Music for guitar lessons. I am after a certain style of guitar music using finger picking to play for my special needs son. I have learned that not all teachers are familiar with this style. Thankfully, Eric is great at it. He is also teaching me how to read music and not just play the chords or tab which is something I had overlooked. I am thankful he has been able to work with me and my unique set of circumstances and help me reach my goals.

Eric Lesko taught my son Brian guitar 18 years ago when Brian was a teenager. My son got to a point that he didn't want to practice and we were thinking about giving up the lessons. However, Eric got Brian playing whatever kind of music my son was interested in and he continued taking for a few years thereafter, completely enjoying it. When I decided to take up the guitar around eight years ago, Eric was the first and only instructor I thought of. Besides being very capable musically, he is willing to move in any direction that you want in order to keep you interested and helping you achieve your goals. He always has suggestions on ways to approach a particular piece in order to make playing fun and not frustrating. He is also well-versed in the use of technology to make playing a continuum as you gain skills, making a huge difference in being able to get more out of practice. Finally, he is conveniently located in a new facility in downtown Oviedo and he is very flexible with lesson days and times. Eric's greatest asset is that he wants the student to enjoy playing as much as he does!
I provide formal classical guitar instruction from beginner to advanced. I studied at the American Conservatory of Music and the Chicago Musical College with Paul Henry in addition to numerous master classes.
A job provides money. A career provides income over a longer term. But, guitar...guitar is part of who I am.
My passion for guitar and music has been alive as long as I can remember. Don't get me wrong, guitar and I had our ups and downs. Serious issues! At times guitar was stubborn and difficult. In fact, while attending the American Conservatory of Music in Chicago on the Presidential Scholarship in Classical Guitar Performance, there were days when I considered ending my relationship with guitar. But, I stayed with guitar. With dedication to our relationship and a lot of work, we are still together and happier than ever. And, here to help you work on your relationship with your guitar.
I have been teaching classical guitar for over 13 years. Curriculum is student-specific but in most cases will include left and right hand technique, rhythm, dynamics, sight-reading, chord theory, etc.
Hi! My name is Matt M. and I am the owner and founder of Black & White Music Services, Inc., a professional music education and production company. I began teaching at a fairly early age and moved to teaching privately over 9 years ago. I have a deep passion for music and the guitar and do my best to instill that same passion in new and experienced players alike. Throughout my playing career I have participated in numerous ensembles including jazz bands, classical groups and quartets, as well as solo performance groups. I am extremely thorough when it comes to my teaching style. I make sure the student has a clear understanding of not only the how but also the why while keeping my curriculum fun and interesting. Every student is different and I do my best to gain an understanding of the individual and build a lesson plan best suited for
that individual. If you have any further questions please don't hesitate to contact me!
Matt continues to challenge me. His teaching methods are great - he doesn't just teach techniques, he immediately puts techniques to work by applying them to a song I would like to learn. He is also very good about explaining the reasoning behind certain techniques/habits.
June 21, 2019
Excellent. Didn’t need so much info about electric guitars since we’re just starting and have an acoustic guitar. Otherwise, excellent.
May 9, 2019
Matt was very thorough in determining my current skill level (which is basically beginner with some previous limited exposure to music and some self-taught cowboy chords). He asked me what I wanted to focus on and worked with me on beginning to change some bad habits/techniques that I had developed. Matt didn't just instruct, he EXPLAINED. I felt that the lesson was much more of a mutual discussion than a lecture/demonstration, which is a great thing. I felt very comfortable and believe that Matt's teaching techniques will help me achieve my goals.

Highly recommend! I initially only began with the idea of taking 1 month of lessons and now I'm in my 3rd month! Derek caters the lessons to meet my needs- I'm a tactile learner, and he approaches teaching guitar to me from that standpoint. I would highly recommend him as a guitar teacher.

I had been playing for about 4 years and couldn't really get past a certain point with my guitar skills. I had kinda hit one plateau after another. Derek took my guitar playing to another level. The way he explains the guitar and music is simple but pretty eye opening.
If you're in Bend, I would highly recommend Derek for guitar lessons.
"I have been a student of Bill's for almost three years. Bill's teaching is characterized by clarity of expression, high standards, patience and an upbeat
and pleasant disposition. He is always clear and direct when explaining the technical aspects of playing- no matter how complex the matter at hand. He holds you (and himself) to a high standard- no shortcuts- you learn to do it right. Yet he is so pleasant to be with that every minute of every lesson is truly enjoyable. Every time I leave I am ready to practice and can't wait to return."
"Been a student of Josh's for a few months now and feel very fortunate to have found him. His attention to detail, continuity between sessions, and obviou
s broad knowledge base are a few of the elements making this a very rewarding learning experience. I am learning to read music, understand music theory, and develop technique. I have very much looked forward to each lesson which Josh takes the time and effort to build upon with clear assignments and follow up. Josh is highly personable, professional and supportive. I highly recommend Josh."
"Will had been my teacher for about two years before I relocated to another city and he's the best instructor I've had. Will had a great level of patience
, he's methodical with his lesson plans, and he's very analytical. His lessons are challenging and there is never a dull moment. Most importantly, he's passionate about music and he'll inspire you to love music as much as he does. I highly recommend Will!"
"he is a great instructor."
"Mr. Sylvester is one of the greatest. He is not just an amazing guitarist, but he is also very kind. He treats people with so much respect. He speaks to m
e and my mom so nicely. He is very patient. He has a deep knowledge of music and knows how to get the most out of even the least talented people (like me!). He doesn't ever get mad if you make a mistake or forget to bring your music notes. We were so lucky to find Mr. Sylvester."
"With a patient and intuitive approach, Juan tailors each lesson to fit not only the student’s skill level, but also desire for depth of understanding. Whe
n I first began taking lessons, I was only able to plunk a few chords and play along with a few basic songs. However, over the course of a year and a half with Juan, I gained a foundational knowledge of the classical guitar, as well as the confidence to site read and play a range of other styles of guitar music. He seamlessly integrated music theory concepts into song studies, helping me learn major/minor scales and chord shapes, and then apply this knowledge to better understand song structures and composition. It has been such a great experience learning from Juan, especially because he is both an exemplary teacher and guitar player!"
"Extremely knowledgeable in so many facets of music! Very good communicator and facilitator making understanding very easy. Very personable with a great se
nse of humor . Makes music fun!"
"Tony was awesome. This was my first ever lesson, despite having "played" for many years - Tony was friendly and gentle in his approach to showing me all m
y bad technique and habits and how to correct them. I'm looking forward to many more lessons and growing my ability through his guidance!"
"Brad was very capable, and worked with my three teenage boys very well. They enjoyed learning from him, and they definitely improved!
When finals time
came around for him, he had to cancel a couple of lessons unexpectedly. Then I heard that he moved away this summer, so we have to go to a new teacher. His overall communication with the parent could have been better."
If you're a fan of classic country music, you've come to the right place. Here, guitar teacher Willy M. shares his favorite classic country songs for guitarists...
I grew up in the late '70s and early '80s in the rural Midwest when "Hee-Haw," a country television program, was something that everyone knew about. It was the Grand Ole Opry’s rendition of a high-theatrical experience, and a showcase for classic country artists to play their tunes.
