Proper technique, warm ups, exercises, theory, ear training, proper repertoire based on age, ability and voice part. Preparation to audition for and perform in opera or for school.
My name is Jennifer. I got my degree in vocal performance and minored in Jazz. I began voice lessons myself when I was eight. I am a mezzo soprano, and can teach both female and male voices. I have performed in several opera productions including but not limited to The Marriage of Figaro, Dido and Aeneus, Tenderland, and Hand of Bridge. I have worked and performed in masterworks by Brahms, Chopin, Mozart to name a few. I studied in French, English, Spanish, Italian, and German. I studied diction, ear training, piano, music history, pedagogy, and music theory. I have also performed with artists such as New York Voices, Bobby Mcferrin and Kurt Elling. I was blessed with many learning opportunities to grow in my passion and I would love to pass that knowledge and passion to anyone who wants to learn.
*** Lesson Details *** Lessons are de
signed around the needs of each student. The first lessons is always spent testing range, knowledge and abilities already known by the student. Then the student weighs in on what kind of music they would like to learn and what they hope to gain from the lessons. Theory and ear training are incorporated into the lessons. We work on breathing, technique and style. Generally we start with English or Italian. We work on vocal performance from a classical standpoint but Jazz and Broadway can also be taught if desired by the student. Scales and exercises are given each week to be worked on until the next lesson. A recording device is encouraged if the student cannot play the piano. Also, a voice note book to take notes during the lesson to be used during practice during the week.

Hello, thank you for your interest in taking music classes and reading my profile! :) My name is Yuliya Borshchova,
Over the past 15 years, I have taught hundreds of classes both children and adults students. My specialties are: 1. Piano 2. Vocal 3. Music Theory 4. Music composition and improvisation class 5. Ear training
Learning about music can be complicated and confusing especially when there are so many courses; different methods available just click away on the internet. There are a lot to learn as notation, chords, rhythmical patterns, music terminology, music styles and so on.
It is like learning new language could be overwhelming and make many students give up on their dream. Also learning on your own without any step by step instructions, easy- to follow method and goals in mind can make you fr
ustrated and lose your motivation and enthusiasm very fast.
I've been studying music since I was 6 years old. First 7 years in Music school, then 4 years of Music college and another 4 years in Conservatory of Music in Kazakhstan. I graduated as a choir conductor, pianist, and vocalist. With 15 years of music studying and 15 years of teaching piano and voice to hundreds of students of all levels, I know all struggles and obstacles you might have and I know what works to overcome it and be the best musician you can be!
For me teaching music classes it's not just assignment to make my students understand the concept and develop skills, but much more;
1. First of all, I must know a student's need.
Why do you want to learn? What is behind of that intention? What is your goal and how I can help you reach it? Sometimes we discovering it together in the process of learning setting new and new goals as you progress.
I will be able to help you better and take you to the direction you want to go to after identifying the starting point, where do we begin?
2. Second, I believe that any learning will be successful if you are having fun and a good time doing it, feeling encouraged. I'm very generous in praising to my students, high fives, hugs, stickers any anything to make my students feel good about accomplishing the even small assignment. I also know that If you feel bored or frustrated you not going to stick for a long time with your commitment and you not going to learn anything.
Playing a musical instrument or singing is a very personal experience and I design my classes and choose music and techniques the way that it suits your level and fit your personality. I try to make my classes fun, challenging and building the momentum so you can get most out the class and most importantly you are having fun while learning and engaged in the process.
3. Third, For my piano, voice and theory classes I use easy to follow the method of developing skills, techniques, and understanding of the concept. I always break challenging parts in small steps which make it easy to understand and learn.
4. Fourth, you will always have goals set up and quick start action plan which is broken into small easy assignments. The quick start plan shows exactly how you can get going in record time and get off to a great start. For that purpose, I use different method books and different music pieces.
You have a clear direction what your goals are and how to achieve them and progress when you practicing on your own.
5. Teaching my students is not a job for me, it's enjoyment and commitment to share my passion for music and knowledge, inspire and encourage them. Music has changed my life and I hope I'll help you to change yours!
My goal is to make every class to be built around these 5 aspects mentioned above, as well as provide value, demonstrate and encourage.
My mission to make sure that my students learning at their own speed without any pressure, without feeling overwhelmed or frustrated, understanding the concept I am teaching to. Also, I want to make sure that they are walking out of class with a sense of accomplishment and understanding the concept which is important for making progress and moving forward.
Lastly, I am committed to the success of my students and eager to build a long-term relationship with them. I'm flexible and committed, some of my students have been with me
Lesson process: I am teaching one on one classes in my home studio here in North Miami Florida, or via Skype or Google+ Hangout, you could be anywhere in the world and take the class with me.
The time of the lessons may vary, I usually suggest 30 min a trial lesson to meet and greet, as well as establish goals. We will talk about the schedule and will set up a regular schedule around convenient time for both.
1. Beginners are taken through the fundamentals.
2. You will explore a range of pieces to expand your skills and begin to identify your preferences.
3. On first lesson, you will be learning new exercises to get you started and homework assignments.
4. Also, you going to get work/method book and practice plan
Good luck and hope I can help you to take piano playing, singing or music writing to the next level! If you have any question prior to signing up you are welcome to contact me through Q&A.

The first singing lesson for my granddaughter was done with warmth and professionalism. Julia is talented and gentle with her approach. I have now added piano lessons to the schedule. This is a new experience for my granddaughter. I will gladly update the comments in one month with the progress.

She’s helping me prepare for an audition and giving me valuable tips to sound as good as possible in a short time.

Practicing with Vandi improves my skills more quickly than practicing alone and she is very good at not only answering questions via the internet tutoring but through phone as well. She is very prompt and consistent and provides easy to read materials for my skill level. I'm very happy with my purchase through Take Lessons so far. This is my first time using this website and it is my third lesson as I am new to piano. I have already recommended this site to other people.
In my singing career, I have benefited tremendously from instruction by teachers who perform professionally. I want to help my students develop their vocal ability by meeting them where they are and applying the lessons I have learned from practical experience as well as from what I have been taught. My goal is to equip students with the skills so that they can develop a reliable technique that works under all situations.
In 2013, I began singing professionally in principal roles with major opera companies (with regular appearances at Dallas Opera) and as a soloist with orchestras across the United States. I was an Adler Fellow with San Francisco Opera from 2011-2012. I received my Artist Diploma in Opera Performance from the Academy of Vocal Arts, my M.M. in Voice Performance from Boston University and my B.M. in Voice Performance from Westminster Choir College.
In 2011, I began singing professionally in principal roles with major opera companies and as a soloist with orchestras across the United States. I have sung on the stages of the Dallas Opera, Metropolitan Opera, Los Angeles Philharmonic, Opera Colorado, San Diego Opera and Florida Grand Opera to name a few. I am one of the very few fortunate enough singers who has been able to make my living for 8 years solely on my chosen profession.

I have incorporated artistry, language, and dramatic intention into my preparation whenever I perform professionally. I have extensive vocal study with William Stone, Penelope Bitzas, and Elem Eley. I continue to study and improve my languages through vocal coachings and lessons. I am committed to life long learning and development of my vocal ability and sharing that with my students.

Music is a way of living that enhances your creativity, gives a hopeful vision and makes the life sparkling. After my professional opera experiences for many years, frankly I can say that you can't loose the child of your inside that makes you different than the others. During my education process, I realized that the key of loving your work was also related to your instructors. Being a mentor, leading a way of something that will reflect someone's life is so precious and requires some responsibilities and solid background. When I was a student, I was always passionate about looking to work with the best teachers, I was extremely interested in learning something new. So I believe If you're a teacher, you should have strong skills, knowledge, willing, a good human being, kind attitude , patient and passion. It sounds cliche but people deserve it. So my goals in teaching, causing to be loved the music, raising people who feel full of elements of singing, explore the abilities of ...
About Aysen Idil
Hi, I'm Idil. I’ve just received my master degree in Voice program from Mannes School of Music. I'm extremely interested in working with you! Shortly after my graduation from undergraduate studies, I started my professional career. I have been engaged with Turkish State Opera House as a permanent opera singer for seven years. In this role, I had the opportunity to perform leading roles with well-known orchestras, conductors and opera companies. It helped me to develop a professional attitude, discover leading research in opera at a younger age, develop good communication skills, musical discipline and responsibility at a young age. During this time, parallel to my professional duties, I assisted my voice teacher, who is a prima soloist in Turkish State Opera House, and had a chance to work with the students who provided me a chance to d
evelop my teaching skills to a wide variety of students. After the professional experience, I had a desire to further improve my music skills in the academic world. This led me studying and getting my master’s degree and complement my professional experience with academic research. The experiences I had has been invaluable. Teacher position requires ability to teach and communicate effectively, develop continuously and be responsible and disciplined with the tasks at hand. I believe my professional and academic experience have prepared me well in all of these areas.
While I was a young student, I always wanted to work with successful and well-equipped teachers who had significant and relevant hands-on experience. I believe, my experience and background prepared me to be one of those teachers who can help younger generation to build the skills necessary and grow in their area of study. This is what excites me the most about teaching.
In my studio, you will learn to take your space vocally and physically as a performer! We will work on a relaxed and engaged posture (through my experience work with Alexander and Feldenkrais technicians), singing/speaking the truth of the text, and a healthy, bright but warm sound that will wow any audience and audition panel. I also specialize in character work, through my own experience performing Opera and Musical Theatre with such companies as Santa Fe Opera, Sarasota Opera, Opera Idaho, Utah Festival Opera and Musical Theatre, and Carnegie Hall to name a few. Come join me to have a positive, exciting, and long-lasting vocal journey!
Lauded by Opera News as having “showed vocal confidence [...] his luminous head voice blooming with expansive and penetrating phrases“, and by Opera Today as bringing "the performance to an awestruck standstill with his exquisitely sung (aria)... He cuts a fine figure throughout the performance, with an intense stage presence” Peter has performed such roles as Rodolfo (La Bohème), Alfredo (La Traviata), Il Duca di Mantova (Rigoletto), Macduff (Macbeth), Nemorino (l'elisir d'amore), Turiddu (Cavalleria Rusticana), and Justice Scalia in Derrick Wang’s Scalia/Ginsburg, performed at the Supreme Court and featured on NPR’s All Things Considered. Peter has performed in such venues as Santa Fe Opera, Sarasota Opera, Opera Idaho, Anchorage Opera, Maryland Opera, Lancaster Symphony, Richmond Symphony, Helena Symphony, and Carnegie Hall.
As a t
eacher, students have said about Mr. Peter: “Peter helped me get to my high notes with a bright sound that felt relaxed and easy” -Brett Andrews, Tenor/Dancer “Peter’s experience as a performer helped me not only achieve a healthy full sound, but a strong connection to the role through body work and character analysis.” -Abigail Lawsonn, Operatic Soprano My technique is based on a relaxed but engaged posture, the management of air instead of "pushing" or "shoving" air, a bright but warm sound, and taking your space as a performer, a singer, and a human being.
I want my students to develop a reliable technique so that they can accomplish anything that they would want to perform. I think technique is the most reliable base you can have for a lasting and enjoyable vocal career. I am interested in what you want to learn as well as your vocal aspirations. I cannot wait to work with you!
For students that are younger (elementary-middle school) I recommend 30-45 minutes.
I am currently working on my undergraduate at Palm Beach Atlantic University for Vocal Performance--specializing in opera. I started performing and studying musical theatre when I was five years old, and in High School, I was a member of the Houston Grand Opera High School Voices Studio. I have been in countless choirs, opera scenes, and musical theatre productions. Since being in college, I have taken diction, language, and vocal literature courses.
My students can expect to improve their vocal and piano techniques every week and maintain their progress. I am interested in helping my students prepare for roles, school shows, competitions, or to have fun.
I would be so honored to be a part of your journey with music. I like to make music fun, because it should be. But I also want to help you feel comfortable and confident with your voice. When I was 15, I almost lost my voice and I lost my confidence. But every time I would listen to music I decided giving up wasn't an option. I started working with my vocal chords and breathing techniques. I came up with a vocal strategy that brought back my voice and confidence. I would really love to share with you the warm ups and the methods that helped bring music back. We will work on music theory, vocal warm ups, proper breathing techniques, and so much more. I think teaching should be positive, reaffirming, and a happy experience. I can't wait to work with you!
I am a professional singer/songwriter. I have worked hard on vocal strategies for the past five years due to the fact I almost lost my voice. I had a vocal chord issue that took quite a few years to clear up. While it wasn't fun or enjoyable, I was able to learn alot about myself and my voice. I had to teach myself how to sing again and it was a struggle. No matter who you are or where you come from you can succeed. I love working with kids, I have been teaching my neice to sing for three years and she has come such a long way for a 6 year old. That is just one example. I like taking every student of mine and bringing out the best in their voices and in them. That is what a teacher should do. I can't wait to meet you!
I took voice lessons from Ms. Jennah and found all her vocal techniques, tips/instructions, very useful in my vocal career today.

My daughter took voice lessons from her and loved it!
Lovely voice, perfect pitch, and a refined taste in music.
She has awesome patience and is very passionate about her music, teaching students to perform well, sing, and have fun.
"Working with Carl has been a great experience! Along with his patience and positive attitude he also knows what is best for the voice to help it grow."
"From the start, Michelle has been so helpful and easy to work with! She is super friendly and wants the best for you, and is quick to understand how to be
st work with you so that you get the most from your lessons. She has a beautiful voice and is excellent at communicating how to best adjust your own voice to sing better and stronger. She also is very flexible with schedule, which has been so helpful! Thank you for your help, Michelle!"
"Wonderful first lesson. Troy is very knowledgeable. I'm feeling more encouraged about my singing than I have in a long time."
"A superb teacher
My experience with Ms. Tivens was incredible. She really knows her vocal science and has such a foundation in vocal pedagogy. Also, it's
fun to work with her, not just a science class. She helped my range expand and made me feel more comfortable with high notes. Due to her extensive performance background, she has incredibly useful notes when it comes to how to sing in front of people. Just take one lesson with her and I promise you will comeback."
"Wonderful teacher! Amazing what I have learned since I began the classes last year."
"I had a great experience! Phillip was extremely patient and engaging during lessons and very often went above and beyond to provide me with music and vo
cal exercises. He has a vast knowledge of music; I learned so much about voice, more than I realized there is to know about singing. Phillip has an energetic, but easy going, personality and great sense of humor. This was my first time singing in front of someone and I appreciated his kindness and encouragement. I highly recommend him!!!"
"This teacher makes me feel that I can accomplish anything!
Amber is the best voice teacher I have ever had. I needed help quickly to prepare an audition
piece for a University I was applying to out of state. I was under a real deadline and I had heard about Amber from one of her other students. We began to work on the piece and it was obvious I needed help with some of my techniques. Even though Amber was fitting me between other scheduled lessons, she found another time the next day and we worked on technique and over the next few days finished the audition piece. It was incredible and even the voice faculty commented on my song, and they were really impressed."
"Patticia is extremely dedicated and passionate about teaching and everything she sets herself to do!"
"Mr Faria, is a complete opera singer, with a great background and stage experience. Is awesome the way he conducts the lesson, explaining all we need, ho
w many times we need. When he gives an example, we can feel this solid technique, and art of singing. Thank you Maestro"
It is always exciting when a vocal student is ready to start studying his or her first operatic aria! One of the best things about being a classical singer is knowing you have so many great years ahead of you. After all, you’re considered in your prime in your 40s.
That being said, realize that the voice you have now and the repertoire you’ll first study will be very, very different from what you sing later on in your career. It’s absolutely crucial that you sing repertoire that is …
