We feel that we totally lucked out with finding Jason who is a complete gem! He showed up on time and quickly inspired my son with the drawing lessons by having him draw Superheroes! So my son is having a great time with Jason who has a great way of giving feedback and steering Cody using a balance of instructions and positive feedback. Cody is definitely enjoying his lessons and I am seeing real progress. I feel like I did the right thing investing in these lessons and giving Cody a great summer with a wonderful instructor. I couldn't have asked for more. Thank you Jason for being so great at what you do!
I've been drawing my whole time practically, and it's something that I always want to be doing more. Whether it's looking outside at the still landscape, or recreating a moving scene, drawing has always been a passion of mine.
I can help you with putting what you see in your mind onto paper more genuinely. We'll work on perspective, scale, color gradients, shading, detailing, and much more.
Hi! I'm Dr. Jonathan Saraga; professional musician and educator living in New York City. I have been working as a trumpeter, composer, arranger, and studio musician for almost 2 decades and have been teaching full-time for the past 7, which includes nearly 3 at the University level. I’ve been recognized internationally, by way of several organizations for excellence as a trumpeter and composer: 2007-Winner of International Trumpet Guild Jazz Trumpet Solo Competition; 2009-Finalist in Carmine Caruso International Jazz Trumpet Solo Competition; 2011- Selected Participant in School for Improvisational Music Intensive Program; 2014-Callback for the Juil
liard Artist Diploma program auditions; 2015-Selected Participant in Banff International Summer Intensive Program in Jazz and Creative Music ; 2016-Semi Finalist in International Songwriting Competition; 2016-Recipient of the ASCAP Herb Alpert Young Jazz Composer Award; 2017-Honorable Mention and Finalist in International Songwriting Competition; 2016-19-Full Scholarship w/ Paid Assistantship/Instructorship for Doctor of Musical Arts degree at the University of Colorado, Boulder; 2019-Selected Participant in Banff Early Fall Musicians in Residence program; 2019-Finalist in Chamber Music America’s New Jazz Works Grant Competition.
I perform and record as a featured musician with Festival of New Trumpet Music, having participated in two world premieres, and in ensembles led by highly acclaimed and/or Grammy-nominated/winning artists such as Steve Coleman, Henry Cole, Maria Schneider, Darcy James Argue, Orrin Evans, Josh Evans, Jimmy Greene, Tyshawn Sorey, Eric Bergen and the Afro-Latin Jazz Orchestra. I've performed at arenas, clubs, and concert halls alike, such as Carnegie Hall, The Putra World Tower, Symphony Space, the Barclay's Center, Dizzy's Club Coco-Cola, and Rockefeller Center to name only a few venues. As a leader, I've been performing original music all over NYC at known creative and jazz venues like Seeds, Cornelia St. Café, The Bar Next Door, Jazz at the Kitano, Shapeshifter Lab and Smalls Jazz Club, which Down Beat magazine considers to be two of the best jazz clubs in the world.
Besides professing a passion and skill-set for music within the ‘jazz’ idiom, my interest in and usage of sound draws from and many other forms of art. I've composed and arranged music for lyricists, improvised music for poetry readings at the Firehouse Space, and have provided musical accompaniment for dance classes, workshops, and performances presented by the Martha Graham Dance Academy and the Jeoffrey Ballet School. I've even co-choreographed short plays and have played for Marc Jacobs fashion runway shows.
My music also extends into the health and wellness community. I've served as a regular performer at the New Life Expo, and as a musical aid for art exhibitions (including a Syrian-post war realist art exhibition), Yoga classes at Jivamukti Jersey City, and meditation classes for WeWork, St. Peter's Church at the Citicorp Center, The Tibet House, Triskelion Arts the Firehouse Space, the Jewish Community Center, the New York Insight Meditation Center, and the NYU Skirball Theater.
As an educator, I have taught all-level/all-age group music playing and appreciation courses for several New York-based organizations: The Afro-Latin Jazz Academy, The Gramercy Brass Orchestra of New York, New York Ensemble Classes, the Lyceum Kennedy International School, Jubilee Enrichment Programs, Jazz Empowers and The New York Jazz Academy. I have also completed 6 semesters of service as a Graduate Part-Time Instructor at the University of Colorado, Boulder, where I taught multiple playing ensembles as well as three semesters of a 100+ student History of Jazz lecture class for non-majors.
I teach out of a my home apartment studio on the upper east side, complete with weighted 88-key digital piano, Bose high quality speakers, recording equipment, as well as musical media, and tablature spanning many musical genres, cultures and time periods. I also am equipped with a spacious floor space for Yoga, Pilates, Weight Lifting, Meditation, and more.
While I specialize in the following broad areas of musical study, my specialties are not limited to: General Music, Composition, Arranging, Ear Training, Music History (includes classical, jazz, and world musics), Music Theory, Sight Singing, and Songwriting. I also specialize in the following instruments: Trumpet, flugelhorn, and Piano/Keyboards.
Last but not least, while I have invested over 30,000 hours into my musical training, my interests, practices, and skill sets extend beyond sound and visual art, and into the realm of philosophy, science, physics and spirituality. I have been practicing various forms of fitness, meditation and Yoga for the past 5 years, and my studies span the gamut of psychology, philosophy, calisthenics, Astral Projection, Reiki, Vipassana Meditation, Visualization, and much more.
I believe and live by the idea that creativity is an energy that flows through us, and one's creative abilities can be improved and expanded, through the emotional body, which is influenced by one's perceptions. Throughout my training in music, the arts, as well as my physical, mental and spiritual pursuits, I have realized that discipline, creative flow, and love for what one is and what one does can come together and yield great fulfillment and sense of purpose.
I would highly recommend Jonathan as a music teacher. Jonathan is absolutely passionate about music, which is evident by his enthusiastic and energetic teaching techniques. He is very patient with my five year old and encourages her to get her very best effort. Jonathan customizes the music and lessons for my daughter’s skill level while at the same time provides challenges to keep the learning process interesting. In a short period of time, my daughter's keyboard playing abilities have dramatically increased. I am very grateful to Jonathan for making learning fun for my daughter, who always looks forward to her lessons!

Jonathan has made a great impression with my son. He displays a great combination of patience and encouragement with Nick. I have seen an improvement in his trumpet skills as well as his confidence.
Learn to draw using the classical realist techniques taught in traditional ateliers. In this elegant and inspiring primer, master contemporary artist and author Marina Bichinsky breaks down the drawing process into small, manageable lessons; introduces time-tested principles and techniques that are easily accessible; and shares the language and context necessary to understand the artistic process and create superior, well-crafted drawings.
As a child of five years old I was brought by my mom to Gulyaev’s Art Studio and this famous Ukrainian artist involved me in the marvelous world of fine art.
In high-school, I participated in a federally-funded program for the Gifted and Talented in Visual Art. After graduation I won a huge competition and was admitted as a student of the Architectural department of the Kiev Architectural Civil University. In 2001, I become a student, hand-selected by the director of extraordinary Master degree program of Visual Communication, offered by Syracuse University (Syracuse, NY). In master classes, we learned from each other and worked with the best illustrators: Murray Tinkelman and Cris Payne, Dave Passalaqua and Sano Kazu (Kazuhini), Bunny (Alice) Carter and Bob d’Sey, I love to learn new skills and keep learning new styles and techniques
all the time. This love has inspired my beloved students to do the same.
Really enjoyed working with Marina! She is very fun and delightful to work with

It was our first class together so part of it was organizing myself. I look forward to more classes with Marina.

I've known Marina for a very long time and while I haven't taken any classes yet, I most definitely would recommend her to anyone who's looking for a good art teacher. She is a very talented artist and has a rare ability to inspire people to be creative. Her students' paintings are awesome and always make me smile looking at them.
In my spare time, I've taught for the last 15 years. I've tutored actual BSA students. I love drawing. I love teaching art. It is an expression of an individual's personal journey.
The most fabulous thing about being an artist is that boundaries regarding creativity are non-existent. The artist is always in a state of learning. Art is a progressive practice that takes time to develop.
Materials are not included. Materials needed are pencil, paper and a willingness to explore. Drawing lessons will be assessed based on the individual's current abilities and their goals.
My resume includes graduating from the Baltimore School for the Arts and continued studies at the Maryland Institute College of Art until I decided I didn’t want to be a “Starving Artist”. So, I graduated from the University of Baltimore with a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Business Administration with a minor in Human Resources Management. My education also includes 27 graduate credits that were leading to a Master’s in Public Administration when I decided to discontinue that path. After twenty-five years in the public sector, I decided to revisit my passion for art in my spare time. As a youngster, I remember wanting to teach art in schools, but I did not want the restrictions that are present in the classrooms and more so today. All forms of art is a freeing practice that is practiced and developed over time. Art is very therapeutic.
I've taught and currently consult with former and current Baltimore School for the Arts visual arts students. For more information, website at jfa-studios.com.
Many people think they can't draw. I used to be one of them. Now, I know that everyone can draw, they just need to learn how to translate what they see into an image. We will start with contour, move into gesture, create the illusion of 3D form using value and color, composition and even create the illusion of space. We will use a variety of media including graphite, charcoal, pastels (oil and chalk) and even use paint. It's really lots of fun!
Hello! My name is John and I can teach you to draw and paint. I am high energy, funnier than all get out, yet have a serious love of art. Let's explore not just the technical side of drawing/painting, but let's help you discover how to express your creative self!
I have experience as a student, professional, tutor and mentor in the visual arts in the last ten years. During this time I have learned that everyone is capable of drawing or painting, but they seldom have the confidence to see themselves through learning this knew skill. I can teach you how to see an object, person or landscape in a way that allows you to realistically portray that on paper or canvas. I can teach you the skills required to be confident in your chosen medium and mend the disconnect between what you want to create and what you are capable of creating. I'm as excited to teach you as you are to learn. Let's work together!
I am a professional freelance illustrator and painter. I graduated from Northern Michigan University in 2011 with a BFA and a concentration in Illustration. I excel in portraiture and imaginative realism (or fantasy art) and I'm comfortable in most traditional mediums (Pencil or graphite, colored pencil, oil painting, acrylic paintings, watercolors) as well as digital programs for drawing and painting (mostly Photoshop.)
I feel confident that everyone has the ability to do what they desire creatively provided they have the right teacher. As a former student, I understand the frustrations behind learning a seemingly magical skill like drawing realistically. As a current artist, I know the skills required to overcome those frustrations and the attitude necessary to improve upon your existing abilities.
Students can expect to improve
with every lesson and are given advice for what they can do in the future to improve further. All critiques and lessons will be constructive concerning what you're doing right and what you can work on to be better. In my experience, I've learned that every student can be taught to create as long as their unique needs are understood and the teacher is patient. I truly believe anyone can learn to draw and paint and I'm excited to prove that to you.

Hello future students! My name is Abigail and I'd love to teach you the basics of drawing. I am currently working on my certification to become an art teacher here in San Antonio. In the meantime, I will be putting my Fine Arts degree to use as a drawing tutor. I have four years of excellent experience from The University of Texas at Austin in a studio arts program, where I focused heavily on life drawing and figure drawing. If you are interested in sharpening your creative skills as a new artist, I have the tools to help you succeed! All ages welcome :-)
My name is Abigail and I am currently working on my teaching certification. I have always loved helping friends and family with their art, and now I want to teach others as well. I have been making art my whole life, and I consider it my main passion. I have a bachelors degree in studio art from UT Austin and I want to take what I learned there and apply it to my teaching lessons.
"My daughter first met Emily through a summer camp that she participated in. She came home excited and told me that we HAD TO take lessons from her! She
has been taking drawing lessons from Emily for the past year and has grown so much in skill! Emily is a patient, kind and caring teacher. She really has a wonderful way of connecting with her students and is supportive of their art style. I would highly recommend Emily!"
"this is just-- THE BEST im honestly speechless just thank you David"
"Great teacher!! She knows what she's talking about and teaches at your own pace."
"My son is a beginner in drawing and is a bit apprehensive about his drawing skills. I really appreciated and liked Margarita's approach, setting music to
create a relaxing atmosphere for drawing, explaining the steps, and the foundation for sketching. I think we approached drawing wrongly and after the lesson I changed our way. We play music now (which he likes) and he is drawing more often and is more relaxed."
"i cant wait for my next lessing i,v already learned shading and every thing"
"Great teacher and a wonderful experience. My daughter loves to go to class and have lots of fun while learning new techniques. Kids are actually exposed
to various mediums. The really good part is you can also see older kids working on really good pieces of art, which is a very motivating for the younger ones. Personally Ms Maggie is very kind and gentle and a pleasure to know. I recommend any parent looking to enroll their kids into an art program to take them to her class and you WON'T regret it!"
"I had a great lesson with Megan, she is o kind and patient ."
"We love Kelvin, he is really patient and talented on teaching drawing."
"Thanx Maggie to provide this platform to express our gratitude & appreciation for all your efforts , time & energy, imparting your art knowledge to your s
tudents. Richa is fortunate to be your student for past 5 years. She enjoys your art class & always looks forward for those fun projects, which makes her enthusiastic. We are privileged to have you as our art teacher."
