Beginner to intermediate, classical form

About David
After graduating from Salford University, England with a Bachelors degree (Honors) in Music and Composing I worked for a short time as a commercial "jingle" writer, before moving to San Diego, marrying my dream girl, and opening my own music recording, teaching and production studio. From there I have been teaching lessons, recording bands and writing music for independent film ad video games for the last 6 years. Throughout this time I've been continually performing live in venues all over California.

*** Lesson Details ***
I teach both from a privately rented studio in Santee and from my home studio in La Mesa. Both are fully equipped for guitar, bass and drum lessons and even have recording facilities! In my lesson plans I try to combine theory and technique with practical application (that is, playing music and rocking out!).

A typical lesson begins with a warm up and review of last weeks' lesson, and then moves to a new concept or technique. Once this new idea is understood, we give it a practical application by using it a song the student is familiar with. We finish up by setting some homework and answering any questions the student my have.

My lessons are structured and goal orientated (I want my students playing songs they love as soon as possible to keep the inspiration and excitement going!) but I adapt each lesson plan to suit the student, accommodating different musical tastes and learning styles. Most important I keep the lessons fun and engaging - it's the best way to learn!

*** Studio Equipment ***
Fulling equipped, professional teaching studio.
Guitars, drums, amps, PAs, Pianos, Mandolins and much more!

*** Specialties ***
Very versatile both in preferred styles and my ability to adapt to students requests. Can cover anything from jazz to metal, or pop to blues, on guitar, bass or drums.

The classical guitar is a rich and powerful instrument that has a long history. It has been developed like many instruments such as the piano, and today the guitar has a very powerful influence on modern music. However, the beautiful sounds from the past eras of music, Renaissance, Baroque, and Romanic composers have created wonderful and mysterious pieces that feature this incredible instrument. My goal is to help people who are interested in this type of music be able to perform and reproduce these amazing sounds.

About Christopher
Hello! Hola! Benvenuto! My name is Christopher S. and I am a classical guitarist, composer, polyglot, and experienced language and music teacher.

I am a recent graduate with a Doctorate of Music Arts degree from the University of South Carolina. I also graduated with my M.M. fro the New England Conservatory of Music in Boston, MA. There I studied with the world-renowned guitarist Eliot Fisk who is a direct student of the legendary guitarist Andres Segovia.

Currently, I work part-time teaching 12 students guitar at the University of South Carolina, in Columbia. I also teach ukulele, Spanish, Italian, and English to a variety of students online. I have also just completed my debut album titled, "Anima - The Music of Spain and Italy for the Guitar." This album is a tribute and memorial to an amazing journey I had traveling and living
in Europe for 3 years.

After I graduated from my undergraduate degree, I realized that in order to better my skills as a musician and become the guitar teacher I wanted to be I had to travel abroad. I moved to Seville, Spain where for three years I studied the art of classical and flamenco guitar.

I studied with an internationally known Spanish guitarist named Francisco Bernier at the Conservatory in Seville. During this time I was also teaching English as a second language to high school and middle school students. From traveling and spending so much time in Europe, I also developed and studied my love of languages and I became fluent in Spanish and Italian.

The experienced was an experience of a lifetime and I made many friends working and living abroad that to this day, I still keep in contact with.

If you are interested in having lessons with me, please contact me and we can begin learning the art of making beautiful music or learning the beautiful languages of the Mediterranean! "Hasta pronto!" "A presto!" and "Speak to you soon!"

Now I frequently participate in songwriting showcases, street performances, and collaborati

Have studied classical guitar since I was 15 and I am currently doing a masters in Clasical Guitar Performance

About Salvador
I am a professional musician and educator. I have always enjoyed and been eager to share the musical knowledge that I learned from the very first music lesson I ever had; this feeling in me has never changed. I simply love to help people who want to learn new instruments.
I am patient and encouraging, helping you to always believe in yourself and I believe and have the educational means to help you do it. Whether it is piano, guitar or some other instrument you want to learn, I can help you.
I was became entirely dedicated to music when I was 14 years old. I learned Classical/Jazz/Pop Guitar, Piano and Flute/Recorder/Alto Sax. As soon as I started learning, I started teaching. In my church there were a lot of kids that didn't have the opportunity to learn music, so I volunteered and became their music teacher passing on to them whateve
r I learned myself.
As I grew older, I kept on studying and teaching music as a church volunteer and noticed that my own skills would dramatically improve just because I was devoted to my student's learning.
I pursued a degree in Music Education in New York City at the Aaron Copland School of Music. The education and experience I gained from college, drastically improved my teaching skills and I was able to work as a Music Teaching Assistant for a private school in NYC, a Senior Chess instructor for after school programs and a Private Music Studio teacher.
Nowadays I am an active music teacher and performer, looking for new students and opportunities to share the love of music. I always reach out to people who have musical interests and want to further develop or experiment with music.

I will be very happy to be your music teacher!

I teach nylon string classical guitar. I always start lessons with new students by getting to know what music they love to play and listen to, and I will develop my lessons accordingly. People often mistake “classical guitar” for any fingerstyle acoustic guitar. However, if your interest is indeed classical music, I will teach music of the medieval, renaissance, baroque, classical, romantic, and contemporary periods, of various composers from around the world, such as John Dowland, J.S. Bach, Fernando Sor, Francisco Tárrega, or Heitor Villa-Lobos.

If you have experience with classical guitar, I will ask you to demonstrate your skill level by playing a piece you know. If you are picking up guitar for the first time, the first lessons will be devoted to learning correct posture and technique, and you will begin playing your first scales, exercises, and open chords. After a few lessons, you will begin to learn to play single-line pieces. Classical guitar players also play with their ...

About William
Thank you for visiting my profile and for your interest in studying music! Some of my greatest privileges have been studying and performing with master musicians from around the world in various styles, and I hope to be able to pass on what I have learned over the years.

My history with music

My lifelong love of music began early. Coming of age in the early 90s grunge rock era, I began letting out my teenage angst and adrenalin as a rock, punk, and metal guitarist in high school. While I became interested in jazz and classical midway through high school, the real turning point for me was seeing Leo Kottke play live for the first time. I was greatly inspired by his ability to play melody, bass, and chords all at the same time on one instrument, and it broadened my horizons as to what the guitar was capable of. I promptly went home an
d spent half the night practicing finger-picking and getting my hands to move across the fretboard. Fast forward years later, I devoted my education to the study of music education and classical guitar at the University of Vermont. I have always believed in the value in improving myself holistically as a musician, so in addition to classical guitar, I also studied jazz guitar, classical and jazz piano, performed saxophone in concert band, sang in large and chamber choirs, played in percussion ensembles, and routinely performed bluegrass, Appalachian, shape-note singing, and Celtic music with an old-time music group. I am currently finishing a master’s degree in ethnomusicology from the University of Hawai'i at Mānoa, where I have been studying various Asian and Polynesian music traditions from Japan, China, Indonesia, the Philippines, and Hawai'i. I have also done fieldwork in Japan, studying traditional Japanese koto, shakuhachi, and ichigenkin music. Drawing wisdom from so many places and people I feel has helped me develop strength and versatility as a musician and as an educator.

As part of my undergraduate degree, I worked at Burlington High School in Burlington, VT, teaching and conducting concert band, leading small jazz ensembles, and teaching music theory and composition. I have over ten years of experience teaching private lessons with students ranging from five-year-old beginners to advanced adults; from children with special needs, to non-native-English students.

My inspiration and philosophy

As a teacher, I like to keep lessons fun, relaxed, and flexible. I use different teaching materials depending on the style of music my students wish to pursue. I use Aaron Shearer's books for students who know they want to train in classical guitar, but I use a variety of other supplemental books and methods for students with other interests. For young and beginner players, I find it essential to work with familiar songs and melodies to keep lessons engaging.

Regardless of skill level or musical interest, I always develop each day's lesson and each student's curriculum to fit the needs of each student. I often create my own exercises to address individual concerns that students have. I make it my purpose as a music teacher to gently guide students to developing the technique and discipline to achieve their individual musical goals.

Ultimately, I believe that music--whether listening or creating--is an essential part of human experience. I am inspired by the power of music to bring people together, to foster passion and creativity in individuals, and to nourish the body and soul. It is my dream to pass on the many music traditions that have inspired me and brought so much meaning and wonder to my life.

If I seem like a good match to help further your musical goals, then I would love to hear from you!

Hello! I’ve been playing guitar for over half my life and teaching for five years now. My love for music has played a huge role in my life, and I love sharing this passion with my students. Whether you are wanting to learn how to perform, compose music, or play your favorite song, I promise to help you achieve your goal. I’ve taught a variety of ages, and I truly believe it's never too early or late to learn an instrument. Every student is unique in what they are wanting to learn, so I promise to structure each student’s lessons to fit their individual goals and interests. It's also very important to me that my students enjoy each and every lesson, so the student is in complete control of their learning.

About Daniel
Hello! I’ve been playing guitar for over half my life and teaching for five years now. I first began learning guitar at a young age, and my passion for music has grown ever since.

My musical education began with guitar and music theory lessons when I was ten years old and continued until I graduated high school. These lessons included songwriting, music theory, and many other topics related to guitar. I also learned a variety of musical genres, including classic rock, acoustic, pop, country, and a bunch more. Being exposed to such a wide range of artists and genres was an incredible experience because it allowed me to learn numerous techniques and musical arrangements. This is also where I fell in love with artists like John Mayer, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Jimi Hendrix, and Eric Clapton. These influential artists played a huge role in sh
aping my guitar playing, songwriting, and technique. This also led to me joining a singer-songwriter trio called Two Beards and a Boy where I was the lead guitarist. We currently perform at city events, fundraisers, and numerous restaurants in the DFW area.

In middle school, I became the lead electric guitarist in my church’s band. I have also lead the worship service on multiple occasions and subbed in at different instruments as needed. I also began taking private vocal performance lessons where I learned how to read music, sight read, and other musical skills. I continued taking these lessons in high school, where I was involved in multiple nationally ranked choirs and performed at Carnegie Hall in 2016. Being involved in my high school's varsity choir not only honed my overall musical abilities but led to opportunities accompanying the choir as a guitarist.

My love for music has played a huge role in my life, and I love sharing this passion with my students. Nothing beats the excitement of a student as they’re able to play their first song. Whether you are wanting to learn how to perform, compose music, or play your favorite song, I promise to help you achieve your goal.

I began giving guitar and music theory lessons in high school. I’ve taught a variety of ages, and I truly believe it's never too early or late to learn an instrument. Every student is unique in what they are wanting to learn, so I promise to structure each student’s lessons to fit their individual goals and interests. Also, it's very important to me that my students enjoy each and every lesson, so the student is in complete control of their learning. I have been working with children and youth for many years through the Upward Sports program, and I love building connections with all of my students to create a comfortable and fun learning environment.

As a college student at UT, I am very flexible with scheduling, so feel free to contact me about available times for lessons. I hope to hear from you soon, and please let me know if you have any questions!

About Steve C.

Hi everyone,

I have 47 years of playing experience and I have taught literally hundreds of students to play the guitar. I first make sure each student learns to hold the pick and the Guitar properly, and the correct way to pick and strum. This will ensure that the student doesn't develop poor habits.

For little children, I first teach them to pick their favorite songs.

The next level is to learn Rhythm/Strumming patterns and your basic chord and chord progressions so that you can play along with all your favorite songs.

No matter what style of Guitar that you wish to learn, I have pretty much taught them all. If you want to be a lead player, I have got you covered there too. I can teach you to be the best picker you can be.

Not only will I teach you to play an instrument, but I will teach you to understand the music. In this way, you won't be playing like a computer program. You will become teachers yourselves.

About Steve
Hi everyone, I am so excited that you are interested in learning to play an instrument! When you take lessons from me, not only will you learn to play music, but you will have fun learning it as well. I will teach you to play the instrument of your choice without actually having to read music. And, you will be playing music from the very first lesson. We will get to the reading of music later if you so desire.

During my 35 years of professional teaching, I have taught hundreds of students to play musical instruments. As far as I know, I have personally taught more La State Fiddle Champions than anyone else. I have even taught celebrity students such as the children from the Duck Dynasty television series.

Because I play somewhere around 15 musical instruments, I have a unique way of teaching music that ties all music together making
it easy to understand. You will find yourself loving your music lessons.

I love to teach by teaching songs and I mean fun songs. We will learn Cotton Eyed Joe, Cripple Creek, Old Joe Clark, Love Me Tender, Amazing Grace, Fire on the Mountain and many, many more. It will not be a chore to get you or your kids to practice their instrument, but you may have a hard time getting them to put it down.

Whether you are just interested in learning to play songs that you know or whether you want to write your own music, I can teach you the ropes. You will have a musical understanding that few have.

Violin/Fiddle students, I can fix any fingering problems that you may be having in a matter of minutes, and you will have complete fingerings for every song that we play. You will have plenty to practice on while waiting for the next lesson.

Also, as an added benefit, I will be accompanying you on the Guitar which is beneficial when it comes to being able to hear if you are playing in tune, and this also gives the feeling of being part of a band.

Guitar students can learn many different styles of playing. I teach Rhythm, Flat picking, Fingerstyles, Country, Rock, Folk, Blues, Classical, and pretty much any other style of playing the guitar.

For all you young Mandolin players, get ready to pick! I will have you playing all the fun tunes So if you are ready to learn an instrument for you or your child, let me know and we will get you playing ASAP!

Wow! Steve, you never cease to amaze me-all of these instruments! Not only do you play them, you teach other people to play them and in different styles of music! But underlying all of this is your lifelong love, and reverence of music and its history. Teaching is your lifelong ambition. Just as important, maybe more so, is your love and respect for the people you teach! You have devoted your life to music! I’ve known you for a long time. You are the “real deal”. There is a hidden key that teachers on tube and books of self teaching will not reveal. I crossed the Brazilian style of learning with the American and came up with something that makes way more musical sense. I always challenge my students explaining that playing by ear, composing, improvising requires no talent, only trained effort. From basic execution of riffs to complex greek modes. You don’t need only a teacher, but a coach, a personal trainer and that is what I offer! I have experience on various genres and techniques.

About Rick
I have an energetic personality, which makes me more than a teacher, makes me your coach. I enjoy spending my time composing assimilations that I use as teaching tools. Life is too short for the amount of hobbies and skills that I love pursuing. I am bilingual, aircraft mechanic, I teach music since I was 15 years old, I love people, I love fixing stuff. Julian is the man! I started learning guitar from him a while ago and I can't believe how far we've come. I can now play some songs by myself, even learn them without his assistance. I had this idea that I wasn't cut for music making (I used to play some violin when I was younger, never got any good at it) but I couldn't resist the idea of learning how to play some guitar. Thanks to Julian (and his patience!) I no longer feel like I'm unable to do this. Take a lesson with him, you wont regret it!
