About Jamison
If you are looking to book lessons in your home, I am available to travel farther on a case by case basis. Please messsage me using the Ask a Question button near my profile picture.

I am experienced with all ages from 5 - adult and have been teaching lessons for many years. I began as a volunteer in High School and built a larger private base of students while in college. I have played lead guitarist/singer/songwriter roles in several rock bands, including my current rock band The Rift, as well as participated in award winning ensembles of all varieties (Jazz Bands, Wind Symphonies, Marching Band, Symphonic Band). Despite a background rich in performance, teaching is my foremost skill and profession. In addition to lessons, I've taught in the classroom setting and at summer camps. I was the first Popular Music and Jazz Major to g
raduate from the University of Rochester/Eastman School of Music. Currently, I'm completing my Master's Degree at Hunter College in Manhattan in Music Education while maintaining a flexible schedule as to accommodate new students.

*** Lesson Details ***
I maintain a fun, understanding, patient, and straightforward approach to help you play what you want, while building essential techniques and skills using music of your choosing. In younger students this often perpetuates enthusiasm and develops taste. I also tutor music theory, composition, and/or songwriting, and upon request, will bring those skill sets into the lesson curriculum. I prefer to come to you, but am willing to host and have before. I will produce additional references and a resume upon request. If you commit to practicing and your lesson curriculum, you can expect noticeable improvement and a solid base of knowledge and essential skills, achieved through the music you love.

*** Studio Equipment ***
Upright piano; Fender Hot Rod 40W Tube Amp; Acoustic 15 W Solid State; Yamaha USB compatible keyboard; 5.1 surround sound with 40" monitor; Mac Mini; Multiple electric and acoustic guitars; USB Condenser Mic, Garageband and Logic Studio; Intel iMac; Buffet Tenor Saxophone, Yamaha Y-62 Alto Saxophone, Bundy II Alto Saxophone for rent

*** Travel Equipment ***
I have my own instrument, tuner, cables, etc. I generally expect my students to provide their own instrument, and be willing to purchase a few basic materials (book for lesson entries, one other instructional book). I'm a minimalist when it comes to this. I am always willing to consult on instruments, materials, or anything other query's you may have outside lessons, via phone or e-mail.

*** Specialties ***
As per my degree, I am especially knowledgeable regarding popular music, rock and roll, and jazz. I hold student recitals every year and I've had many students perform, as well as write their own music and gain a solid knowledge of beginner music theory. My education and experience have been comprehensive, and I am versatile within all genres of music.

Learning the Ins and Outs of Guitar Playing

I must say that I am please with Jamie's technique and patience with me. Jamie is very knowledgable and shares some of his secrets (not shortcuts mind you) that help in learning to master the acoustic guitar. He leaves you with valuable lessons and exercises that can do nothing but improve on how you play the guitar. I'm looking forward to continuing my lessons with Jamie.

Math has always come easy to me, and I'm well aware that's not the case for everybody. I recently returned to school for Applied Math, and have graduate credits in Advanced Calculus, Linear Algebra, and Probability theory. More importantly for most, I know how to explain concepts to students in a way they can understand, and also how to expose an often rote and dull subject for many as the endlessly fascinating subject it is.

About Erik E.
Basically, I'm very good at what I do. If you want someone who's a fountain of information, who can give you hours of background and detail on a Chopin piece or the like, and knows what it takes to get to the point where you can pretty much play anything, I'm your guy. If you want someone to teach your daughter Mary Had A Little Lamb, I can do that too, and that's often where it all starts!

I've been teaching for 12 years and have had well over 150 different students in that time: Kids, retirees, beginner to advanced.

Stay away! This guy was referred to us by 5 friends in Merci Medical Center. We hired him for piano, guitar and math. The entire experience was miserable and unsuccessful. He questions the kids about none related subjects. We fired him . I called my friends they also get similar experiences and got rid of him. He blame some for not practicing which is not true. My kids , he goes to page 15 for example on piano and guitar and then come back to page 5. He gets to page 10 and returned to page 7. When I hired an other teacher to verify the kids progress, the kids know nothing to the 3 years that they were with him. I took them to school of rock in a month they re done what have taken him years to do .

With a Ph.D. in Materials Science and Engineering from the University of California, Berkeley, I have taught basic engineering at UC-Berkeley as a graduate student. Materials Science requires strong math and algebra background. I also taught basic engineering in the Gifted Youth Program at Stanford University. I have been teaching Data Visualization online at the University of New Mexico. In this class, I pioneered the methods of using art as a visualization tool to teach students math, which I believe it can be easily applied to students at all ages.

My Tutoring Style:

I come up with a lesson plan catering for each student's need. In the first few lessons, I will introduce you the basic concepts required to the subject. In the next few lessons, you will be able to gasp the subjects by practicing example questions under my guidance. About Linda
Please write to lindachentutor @ gmail dot com for questions.

I have helped more than 100 students to overcome the fear of math.

With a Ph.D. in materials engineering from the University of California, Berkeley, math and algebra have always been my favorite subjects at school. I scored perfectly in GRE Quantitative and a 3.9 GPA in college math classes (calculus 1, 2, 3. Linear Algebra, Calculus AB, BC, Statistics).

With more than 10 years experiences (Online and face-to-face combined) in classroom teaching engineering, science, and art, I have been tutoring various math topics (from Middle School to College Calculus) online since 2015.

I am well organized and enjoy breaking down complex math problem into simple terms. I love working with students one-on-one. I find that when I have a chance to accommodate students' individua
l needs and learning styles, the experience becomes more productive and enjoyable for everyone involved. It brings me great joy and satisfaction when I see a light bulb goes off in a student's head.

I have a passion for math. For me, tutoring math, is not only helping students to excel in standardized tests, or gain good grade in a class, but also teaching students who want to learn math, the rule that governs our world, at an extremely thorough, in-depth level.

My Tutoring Style:

I come up with a lesson plan catering for each student's needs. In the first few lessons, I will introduce you the basic concepts required to the subject. In the next few lessons, you will be able to gasp the subjects by practicing example questions under my guidance. Each example question is designed to cover a certain concept introduced in the first few lessons. I have taught math for the past 18 years. My students have consistently seen their grades improve from C's to B's and B's to A's. I have also helped students increase their overall SAT scores by 200-400 points, ACT scores by 4-8 composite points, and SAT Math Level 2 scores by 100-200 points.

I first carefully diagnose the student's strengths and weaknesses by analyzing previous standardized test scores or making them take an initial diagnostic test.

Then, I create a customized syllabus for each and every student based on what he/she most needs to improve the most in the shortest amount of time. I use only the best published materials and some of my own custom-made booklets.

As the lessons progress, I continually monitor progress and make any necessary adjustments until the student reaches his/her goal and no longer needs my services.

About Paul
I am a professional tutor who has successfully taught over 2,000 students for the past 19 years in a range of subjects including the SAT, ACT, English, math, college application essays, and writing contests. I graduated Yale, and I have won numerous essay contests.

I have helped thousands of students achieve their academic goals. I have increased old SAT scores 300-500 points, new SAT scores 150-300 points, and composite ACT scores 3-6 points. I have raised math and English grades from C’s to B’s and B's to A's. Under my guidance, students have written college application essays that contributed to their acceptances into Yale, UPenn, Cornell, West Point, and dozens of other prestigious universities. For a select few well-read students, I have coached them to win a variety of writing contests including the prestigious Scholastic Art &
Writing Awards.

Through classes or private lessons, I connect with students, motivate them to dream bigger and work harder, pinpoint areas of improvement, utilize proven methods, and above all, get results.

I live in northern New Jersey. My better half is Jeanette, and I have three beautiful children.

I went to Peak for about a year, from 8th grade to 9th grade and Paul was the best tutor I ever had. Not only did he teach us how to write well, but also gave us many of his life inspiring quotes that really motivated us students to always work hard. He gave a lot of advice that still helps me today in both writing and life. Going to Peak helped me to enjoy studying a lot more than I did and definitely improved my grade overall.

I have been working with Paul for a little over a year now and with his help, I have accomplished more than I ever imagined. He not only helped me with difficult math classes such as AP Calculus AB and standardized tests like the SAT but also helped me to become a better student overall. Paul also helped me with college applications and decisions which I really found helpful in deciding where I should apply. Paul is an amazing tutor not only for how much he is versatile between different subjects, whether it be AP Calculus to SAT to college essays, but also to how much he cares about your health and wellbeing. With my time working with him, Paul is someone who I can rely on for good advice and look up to.

Hello, I’m Keenan! I graduated in 2016 from Denison University in Granville, OH, with a BA in Mathematics and a BA in English Literature. I have 5 years of tutoring experience.
Many of the issues I’ve seen tutees run into, especially with mathematics, stems from a lack of confidence. They often believe that they are just not good at math and end of giving up before they try, making this a self-fulfilling prophecy. My tutoring method centers around “learning-by-doing” to gain confidence and teach core concepts at the same time while we build up to more difficult problems. Mathematical thinking takes time and a lot of head-scratching, and while I can not do the work for you, I am there to be a guiding hand that can help talk you through problems and examples and teach you how to study. I am open to tutoring anyone college age and below in any mathematics subject from Calculus and below. Once we meet for the first time, we can work out what best works for you in terms of learning ...

About Keenan
I am a 2016 graduate of Denison University in Granville, OH. I spent much of high school and all of college tutoring others in Mathematics. I love working with students in a one-on-one setting in order to give my full attention to their success. I aim work with my tutees in a way that I can best discover how they learn, their strengths, and their weaknesses.

The day before a lesson, I like to be sent whatever material or problems that a student is working on so that I may go over it myself in order to make the most of the time in a session. I believe in learning by doing, but in that regard, I also aim to make sure students know not just HOW to solve a problem but WHY that solution works. My hope is to build up students’ mathematical knowledge while also teaching them the most effective ways to study and learn, making them more eff
ective students even outside of our lessons.

I have had a lot of tutors for mathematics (it just never clicks for me the way other subjects do!) over the years and Keenan was by far the best one. He managed to immediately figure out where I was intellectually and meet me there without making me feel like I was stupid at all. He was consistently kind, and came up with multiple ways to explain concepts I was having trouble with, and made sure that the answers he gave to my questions made complete sense to me before moving on. Keenan was even able to tame my anxiety the first time we met, and because of him I was able to pass calculus and get into graduate school! He even helped me come up with ways to ask my professor questions during class so that I didn't get left behind in lecture. I used to have a lot of trouble with this, since I was embarrassed and not sure that I would ask a question that made sense. Overall, Keenan was the best tutor I have ever had, and I am so grateful to him for helping me not only understand calculus, but start to enjoy it as well!
