About Guadalupe
Professional classically trained singer, Master in Music (Performance Practice) with more than 10 years of all-ages teaching experience and vocal pedagogy studies.

Lyric mezzo-soprano Guadalupe P., a native of Mexico City, has performed internationally on both concert and opera stages. With the Cedros, Arteus and Bellas Artes Chamber Orchestras in Mexico City she has been a soloist in Vivaldi´s Gloria, Pergolesi's Stabat Mater, Mozart's Requiem, Coronation Mass, and Missa Brevis, and Josep Gaz’s Letanías. In New York City, she created the title roles in La Llorona by Hector Armienta and the short film Maya´s Ark by David Wolfson, both international premiers. She was a featured artist at the Inaugural Gala Concert of the Union City, NJ Performing Arts Center and she sang a concert of arias and duets from zarzuelas, a form she champions
, at Merkin Concert Hall. She has also been a soloist with the New York Virtuoso Singers, performing the John Corigliano song Forever Young in a concert of music by Corigliano and Mark Adamo, prepared with the assistance of the composers, and has performed in Denmark and Sweden as a soloist with the same ensemble. Other favorite opera roles include Charlotte (Werther), Ottavia (L'incoronazione di Poppea), Romeo (I Capuleti e i Montecchi), Annio (La clemenza di Tito), Proserpina, Speranza and Ninfa (Orfeo), Augusta (The Ballad of Baby Doe) and Cherubino (Le nozze di Figaro).

One of Guadalupe's passions is for the performance of works of great artistic value by composers that through the years, for reasons of fashion or accident have been ignored or forgotten. The American Symphony Orchestra under the direction of Leon Botstein is devoted to that cause, and for five consecutive years (2009-2013) at the Bard Summerscape festival, with Botstein conducting and the ASO in the pit, she has been part of the ensemble the New York Times has characterized as “simply exceptional,” in fully-staged productions of Les Huguenots by Giacomo Meyerbeer, Der Ferne Klang by Franz Schreker, Die Liebe der Danae by Richard Strauss, Le roi malgré lui by Emmanuel Chabrier and the Oresteia by Sergei Taneyev.

Guadalupe is also an ardent educator, with a teaching method based on the technique and exercises developed by David Jones, who is also her teacher. She has been involved with musical and vocal training in many different venues, developing and teaching vocal technique seminars and private lessons to more than 50 individual students in Mexico City, at institutions including the National University School of Music and the National Superior Conservatory of Music. She has also served as a vocal coach and/or conductor for multiple children's choruses, including for the Children´s Chorus of Tepozotlán, Mexico, at Trinity Wall Street in Manhattan and at Grace Theatre in Union City, New Jersey. She is continually looking for ways to develop her pedagogical skills as an integral part of her professional singing career.

Guadalupe has been the recipient of scholarships and grants from the Mexican Fine Arts Institute (Instituto Nacional de Bellas Artes) and the Mexican National Institute for Culture and the Arts (FONCA), including the Award “Creadores Escenicos” in 2012. She won first prize in the fifteenth annual Francisco Araiza Voice Competition in Mexico City, was a finalist in the International Competition L'Orfeo in Verona, Italy and semifinalist in the tenth Julián Gayarre International Competition in Pamplona, Spain. She also performed as a semifinalist in the thirty-seventh Lyndon Woodside International Solo Competition of the Oratorio Society of New York.

Develop and improve your vocal technique.
Get a bigger sound and wider, fuller range through specific exercises for your voice type.
All styles and levels welcome.

This approach to singing will allow you to comfortably and confidently express yourself musically.

When it comes to private lessons, I adjust to different vocal needs and personalities. Some people need to have fun in the process, some people are more serious . Some people focus and understand music and exercises easily. Some others will need more patience, further explanation, graphic examples and even games. I will do what it takes for someone to get things right and I won't be condescendant, but I'll always be respectful and will recognize and point out every little achievement and step forward. Not only for encouragement proposes, but also for people to realize for themselves what's well done and what path to follow to become better and more independent after every lesson. I like using images and analogies to help the sound and the music happen, but these will be always backed up with objective knowledge on the subject. I believe that everybody (children and adults) is able to understand and achieve a challenge, even though every person might need a different way to get there. I also think that this can be accomplished on the basis of respect by approaching one another in a friendly and why not, fun way too.

I have offered workshops at the Fine Arts Institute in Mexico City with over 50 privet voice students from the music and theatre fields. I have also taught at Greenwich Music House and Third Street Music School in NYC, and I have taught privately in NY for over 6 years. Both, beginners and advanced students show great improvement through the lessons.
I'm currently teaching voice and choral conducting to a group of 60 children 7 to 15 years old at Union City Grace Academy.
I previously coached the adult chorus at the Croatian Church of Saint Cyril & Methodlus located in Times Square, New York, and several children choruses in Mexico as well as performed seminars in vocal technique and its anatomy at institutions such as Fine Arts School of Music, National School of Music and Children's Chorus of Estado de Mexico.

*** Specialties ***
My specialty is Vocal Technique. I approach the understanding of a healthy and advantageous use of the voice from the basic anatomy functions that influence directly the production of the voice. I know a great number of exercises that will put this in practice and reach the utmost beauty and flexibility of each voice depending on individual needs and body disposition.
I also have a life time experience on music theory, especially to start and/or develop sight reading skills for singers. Other instrumentalists welcome too.

Excellent instructor with an impeccable understanding of vocal technique.

After a ten-year hiatus, I decided to take vocal lessons again. I am amazed at my improvement after just three lessons. Guadalupe is patient, understanding, and very knowledgeable when it comes to vocal technique and how to execute it properly. She can teach vocalists of various styles and backgrounds with great ease because she truly understands the physiological, articulatory, and functional properties of the voice. Guadalupe also has great ears. She suggested I see a throat doctor because a few minutes into my first lesson, she heard what she thought was slight vocal information. The following week her suspicions were medically confirmed and now I am getting the proper course of treatment to eliminate this condition. I am very lucky to have her on my side as I get my voice ready for conservatory level study.

Ciao!

I am an Italian tutor and college professor who has been working for many years in the field of education. In the past years, I have been mostly working as a professor of Italian, however as a private tutor I have helped many students, of all ages, to deal with different subjects: from reading & writing to SAT and Spanish.

I hold a Master in Foreign Languages and Literature (English and Spanish) and Ph.D. in American Studies, therefore I am very versatile on what I can teach, including American Literature and History, Comparative Literature and Creative Writing.

I have a longstanding experience in teaching foreign languages (Spanish and Italian) to basically everyone and I am particularly fond of communicating in Italian with anyone who is interested in learning more about Italian culture and language.

I am very passion
ate about teaching and I always try my best to adapt to each student's needs, in order to build a custom method of study for every individual. I believe that we are all different and we all need to approach studying in a personal way.
I am very good at helping students to find their own path in their academic career.

¡Hola! Thanks for taking your time to take a look on this post. My name is Francisco. I'm originally from Venezuela. I'm native Spanish speaker with a degree in Education and Social Communication. I'm also fluent in English.

I'm excited about helping you to speak Spanish, the most dominant foreign language in New York City and, according to the American Community Survey 2009, endorsed by the United States Census Bureau, the second main language in the US! I teach all ages and levels. My lessons are focused in developing your conversational skills. My goal is to make you speak Spanish since the beginning.

About me:

I am a professional teacher
I am a native Spanish speaker
My schedule is flexible. I can teach on weekday, weekend in the morning, afternoon and evening
We can meet in public places (parks, libraries, coffee shops, etc), at your office or at your home. Areas of coverage: Manhattan, Bronx, Brooklyn and Queens. Also some parts in New Jersey

Need more info? Don't hesitate ...

About Francisco
I teach Spanish for a living. I've been teaching since 2001. I have a bachelor degree in Education and other in Social Communication. My lessons are interactive and conversational oriented. I want you to start speaking Spanish from the beginning.

I follow a conversational method like in a real life situation. In every lesson I propose a specific topic. The structure of my lessons includes learning some new vocabulary related to the topic we are discussing, study some grammar to apply that vocabulary into real sentences and finally put in practice that vocabulary and grammar to make new sentences.

My lessons are multimedia. I use some quick videos, flashcards and Spanish websites. I don't follow any textbook. Nothing against. I just prefer to follow my own method based on the experience with my students.

I'm very patience. I'm not rush
ing. Everybody has a different learning speed. I take my time and I don't move on until my student shows full comprehension of the topic.

I'd be happy to help you with your Spanish soon!

I moved to America when I was four and lost my Spanish for awhile, but then taught it back to myself through immersion and highschool and college classes. I have a unique viewpoint because I teach Spanish knowing it inately and academically. I can help people that spoke it before and are a little rusty, but also help brand new students start to explore Spanish with good pronunciation and authentic vocabulary.

About Mike
I’m here to help you learn what you want! I am a methodical learner and have a way of organizing information in my mind. I understand no two people learn the same, so whether it’s Drum Set, Hand Drums , or Spanish I will teach you in a way that fits your learning style and I won’t move on till understanding is reached. If you're looking for top-tier, enjoyable, results-driven tutoring, send me a message. I've been helping students ace their next Spanish exam, paper, project, or standardized test, for over 10 years. But more importantly, I build lasting relationships with my students – meeting on a regular basis; covering all aspects of skill-building, test prep, and organization; and acting as a consistent presence in the student's life. I currently tutor high school students in New York at Horace Mann, Riverdale, Trinity, Collegiate, and Dwight Englewood, as well as adults and younger students.

About Jesse
I'm a professional Spanish and English tutor with over 10 years of experience teaching at the high school, middle school, and college levels.

I hold a masters degree from Harvard University, a Bachelors degree in Spanish language and Political Science, and a teaching certificate from the Fulbright Scholarship program.

I currently tutor high school students in New York at Horace Mann, Riverdale, Trinity, Collegiate, The United Nations School, and Dwight Englewood.

I help students of every age ace their next Spanish or English exam, paper, or standardized test.

But just as important, I build lasting relationships with my students based on mutual trust and respect. My students come away from tutoring sessions energized, with a sense of confidence and motivation. I believe that meetings with a tutor should be enjoyable, and they
should inspire students to work smart and work hard.

After studying at the University of Havana, in Cuba, I wrote peer-reviewed research, which was published in the journal "Cuba in Transition." A year later, I was awarded a Fulbright grant to teach and conduct research in Montevideo, Uruguay. There, I worked with the U.S. Embassy to create a series of new language courses in public schools.

I speak and write fluently in Spanish. But as a native English speaker, I've learned the Spanish language from the ground up, just like my students.

For both English and Spanish I am an expert in test prep, essay composition, IB/AP, and SAT II.

If you're looking for top-tier, enjoyable, results-driven tutoring, send me a message.

Even his teaching materials were personalized to include my name and phrases that only I would need to use (i.e. I'm an actress and piano teacher, and I've been living and working in NYC for over ten years).
