A LITTLE ABOUT ME:
As a professional singer and graduate of The Juilliard Sch
ool and working Opera singer, I have had the great fortune of training and performing with some of the best in the business.
With performances at Carnegie Hall and with major orchestras such as the Toronto, Vancouver and Seattle Symphonies and around the world, I feel this gives me a unique perspective on the challenges and successes that are possible with a fun, yet focused and healthy technique based approach. Whether a beginners, intermediate or advanced singers looking to hone your skills in musical theatre classical, jazz and even pop voice.
My goal is a well rounded, relaxed yet supported vocal tone with a focus on breath, and feeling rather than by ear. This ensures that no matter what the repertoire, the situation, or the acoustics of the room, you are always focused on healthy, articulate and projected singing.

I am a Freelance Graphic Designer living in Stamford, Connecticut. I love learning and teaching, like a lot. I teach languages, Lettering, branding, and the basics of Graphic design as well as the adobe programs that bring it to life.
My promise to you is that I will teach you everything I know in the time I'm given and provide you with all sorts of outside resources to get you on your way to fluency and proficiency.
I'll make sure to do my absolute best to get you speaking a new language from day one, learning a Design program immediately, or teaching you how to letter with the rules they don't teach you in school. And best of all, I'll even show you how to actually make money with all of these.

I have a very unique journey into learning where I experienced many places and got a fresh and different understanding to the many su
bjects that I teach. For example my knowledge of multiple languages and travel to different countries gave me an added knowledge of linguistics that I experienced first hand and confirmed in books, so now I know how languages work, and can relate a concept from one language to another even if the languages seem completely different.
My Design work has been very general so I've done a lot of different things before I specialized in hand lettering, so I've done it all from advertisements on billboards to website design and development, to copywriting, to branding from start to finish for companies big and small.
My love for lettering and Calligraphy emerged when I started getting more Logos for client work and my exploration of type wasn't the best answer most of the time so I would letter everything myself, and the rest is history.
I am really passionate about learning and even more passionate about sharing what I've learned. I am efficient, I know what works for different people since I taught in classrooms and tutored way before I knew about Takelessons, and I'm most proud of being praised as a very genuine person. A very common compliment I get is that I sincerely want my students to do well. And it makes me really happy every time someone says it, and I hope that one day you see that and tell me the same thing.
Feel free to find out more about me and ask me anything you want, and I really look forward to one day teach you something that will get you to achieve your goals! :)
Just so there are no surprises, I raise my prices very slightly every 3 months, next time it will go up is on March 3rd 2017. The reason for this is because I get better and more efficient at teaching as time goes by, so that hour that you get now is much more packed with value than the same hour last year or last month.

About Rod
I specialize in Test Prep (NYC Gifted & Talented Test, SHSAT, TACHS/HSPT/COOP, SSAT/ISEE, Common Core, Regents, college/graduate admissions tests [i.e. SAT/ACT, GRE/GMAT]) and tutor a number of academic subjects in Mathematics (Algebra, Geometry, Trigonometry, Calculus, Linear Algebra, Combinatorics), Statistics and Science (especially Physics) and K-12 English. I am particularly interested in Number Theory, Systems Engineering (Feedback Theory), Electronics (Analog Circuit Design) and Cosmology. In the social sciences and in my work experience, I was practically exposed to Marketing and HR/Corporate Strategy. I have bachelor's and master's degrees in electronics engineering and business respectively and I enjoy tutoring both children and adults.

(NOTE well: This season, I am focusing on students who are 18+. Use the "Ask a Que
stion" feature to confirm if we have a match in schedules and targets/expectations. In other words, DO NOT book any lessons with me unless we have a mutual understanding. Please read my profile below, the subject(s) you are interested in, my tutoring rates and minimum times very carefully. Thank you.)
My interests also include gifted learning and STEM education. For example, I was successful in helping a 5-year old pass the NYC Gifted & Talented Test so he could enroll in any New York City school participating in the program.
I have several years experience working with various people from different backgrounds as an engineer (hardware+software) and as business developer in multinational companies and startups and this exposure has given me deeper and practical insights into personality and intelligence enabling me to adapt my teaching style to different needs and situations. Furthermore, I have learned from experience that there are three best tools for learning: practice, practice and more practice!
Tutoring for yourself or for your son/daughter is both an investment in time and money for a future return so please also plan accordingly. Now, I make sure that I do not totally depend on tutoring for income so I can maintain a certain level of quality. In other words, when there is a match in objective, budget and schedule, I am quite happy to be part of someone's educational journey. I consider it indeed a very special privelege to be able to help a student because it is my experience that effective education can be life-changing. Finally, I am aware that other tutors may be in a better position to meet your existing situation so we have to accept that and move on.
Tutoring Rate (IMPORTANT): I only do in-person tutoring because I believe effective learning is multi-dimensional and personal not flat and distant. My minimum lesson length is 2.0 hours. My rates for children and teens will in principle be at least the same as adults because I actually invest more time and effort since I have to consider the feedback of at least 2 individuals (student+guardian) compared with an adult student. Different arrangements possible on a case-by-case basis. Please see each subject rate for more details.
When I am not tutoring, I am involved in projects related to technology, hospitality and service industries. I also enjoy cooking especially when I can make an ordinary dish into something extra-ordinary by adding that little "extra."

need in order to succeed in their careers and personal endeavors.
My lessons aim to everyone: children, teenagers and adults with all levels.
The method I use is based on active learning with interaction in order to make my students practice what they learn directly on their computers.
As a tutor but also as a professional, I want to benefit the students I work with as much as possible to achieve that I make sure that my lessons are always tailored to the students and as personal as possible. I am also open to suggestions because the most important thing for me is that the students enjoys our lessons.
I am very easy going and will always answer you as fast as I can so please feel free to reach out to me with any questions!
As a Software Developer I am very competent with basic computer programming. I have a very good knowledge of HTML, Javascript, CSS, JQuery, Angular and other front-end languages. I also teach about content management systems such as Wordpress and Magento.

I have tutored all sections of both the ACT and SAT as well as many other subjects for over five years and have logged over 3,000 tutoring hours as well as over 650 five star ratings through other tutoring services.

Some of the other subjects I tutor are: SHSAT/TOEFL/GED, Statistics, research paper writing, Geometry, college essay writing, Algebra I & II, English, probability, study skills and have helped students with a wide range of learning disabilities.

Christopher came here to teach me pivot tables which I needed to know for work. I had no knowledge of what they were or did and when he left I had an understanding which I did not think I could achieve in such a short time. The patience he showed was wonderful as I was nervous and he put me at ease which is not an easy task! He also had to figure out what I need to do (in Excel)when I do not completely understand it myself but by the time he left, he understood and I am confident that I can succeed now and it is all because of Christopher!

Just had our first session with Christopher and my daughter is eagerly looking forward to the next one. He added clarity and helped her connect the dots on some concepts that she was unable to get from her high school teacher.
