With over 8 years of teaching experience, extensive performing experience, competition prizes, and a Master's degree in piano performance, I not only have substantial knowledge and skill to share with my students of all ages and levels, but patience and clarity with which to communicate those ideas. I form individual curriculums for each of my students based on what they want to achieve, so their paths range from solely classical to pop and rock to original compositions. No matter what the goal, I strive to ensure that my students have a strong foundation so that they can always enjoy their acquired musical skills.

About Nicole
Nicole is an award-winning and adventurous performer, composer/arranger, and teacher. As an emerging artist, she has performed nationally and internationally at such venues as Lincoln Center, 92Y, the Cutting Room, and Joe’s Pub in New York City, the Rialto Theater in Atlanta, GA, and the Teatro Degli Unanimi in Arcidosso, Italy.

Nicole’s big band project “The Titanics,” for which she acted as pianist and lead arranger, was deemed “brilliant” by New York Magazine and was featured multiple times in The New Yorker and Time Out New York. She recently had her television debut on the international network Rai Italia, performing an intimate concert in the series “L’altra Italia.”

Mixing both traditional and contemporary repertoire, Nicole receives great acclaim from audiences: “I am still reeling from Nicole’s recital,” said a Metropolit
an Opera Guild board member, “The way she played … will stay with me forever.” She is also a winner of multiple competitions, most recently winning the Hunter Symphony’s Aria and Concerto competition with Ravel’s Piano Concerto in G.

Nicole holds an M.A. in piano performance from Hunter College in New York City and a B.M. in piano performance from Georgia State University in Atlanta, GA. She graduated summa cum laude from both institutions and was awarded the Benno Lee Prize at Hunter for an outstanding Master’s Recital. She is a member of the American College of Musicians’ Piano Guild and has studied with the likes of Geoffrey Burleson and William Wolfram. She has over 10 years of teaching experience, specializing in piano, composing and arranging, and music theory.

Nicole is awesome. She adapts lessons to match your skill level, nurtures proper and useful technique (while pinpointing and discouraging bad habits early on), and encourages you the whole way through. She teaches with enthusiasm and knowledge above expectations, and gets you excited for the work, incorporating theory and composition into her lessons. Highly recommended.

Adam is really super (I am only on my third lesson). He will make you feel comfortable and interact with you in a personable and dynamic way.

He is the perfect teacher if you want to improve your stage voice and pitch. Adam is the man if you have fame on your mind. Julia

If you are a little slow on the uptake, (like I am when I don't know the subject matter) you need to be brave and follow his directions in practicing techniques. Adam personalizes his lessons, but they could be more planned. They feel a little too unprepared.

Lessons are provided in a private studio in Astoria, NY or your home. Once, a location is established I work with each student to identify his or her goals and objectives both musically and personally. Students are assessed to determine where their individual ability is at the time of assessment. From there, I work in partnership with the student as we begin mastering the guitar or the piano in a fun and supportive environment. Whether you are interested in learning to play the blues, classical or jazz guitar or any other genre or just learning how to play songs on the piano, I can help. If you are a beginner, don't worry it won't all be scales. In fact I guarantee you will be playing a song within your first lesson. If you are an advanced or intermediate student, I can help you master your skills. We (you and I) will revisit proper right and left hand techniques; utilize exercises to improve your speed and accuracy. You will learn new methods to strengthen your improvisation abilities. In short, you and I will make sure to build on your strengths and undo any bad habits that are hindering your ability to grow as a guitarist or pianist.

I begin with meeting the student where they are in relation to their musical experience. After establishing trust, through encouragement I empower students to recognize their potential with out pre-determined expectations or limits. I am comfortable in various genres from classical to punk.

It was truly a pleasure meeting Concetta for my first ever violin lesson. It is difficult to learn anything at the age 40, specially a musical instrument, but she made it comfortable and easy to understand. She's extremely patient a key quality when teaching a subject such a music to anyone. I would say, give her teaching style a try and you won't regret it. Very knowledgeable indeed.

At age 71, my fist lesson with Steve was August 6, 2015. His instructional style, skillful listening, knowledge and passion for music inspired me to practice and practice and write and write. To those ends, Steve encouraged me to attend an Open Mic Night or two after 7 guitar lessons. Though I was shaking like a box of pills at my first OMN, I eventually overcame my fear and played and sang several blues tunes I'd written. My journey continues. Sometimes I feel like I'm six years old, yet I'm learning how to play better under Steve's guidance. His influence on me has been, and continues to be, profound. Steve's integrity is unimpeachable. I enthusiastically recommend Steve as a music teacher. Art Beane

With years of experience live and in the studio, I specialize in teaching students theory, chords and song structures. Students will progress quickly by learning to play chords and scales, and improvise. I balance traditional sight reading with playing by ear and following chord charts. I am the perfect teacher for someone looking for a new approach to learning piano, and/or someone looking to play in a band or accompany their singing. I have played in the studio for Katy Perry and live on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno.

About Emily
Emily has been working professionally for over 15 years and teaching for nearly as long. Professionally, she has worked with labels like Universal and Sony, and with artists like Katy Perry and Billy Joel. Former students have gone on to perform on Broadway, national tours and American Idol.

Every student's individual voice and style is taken in to consideration when forming their training. No two voices are alike, and thus, no two lessons should be alike.

Emily will focus on helping you find the strengths in your voice and then finding and overcoming your weaknesses. Emily is a firm believer, that the voice is a muscle system that must be worked and strengthened, just like any other; and she will provide you with the proper strength training to achieve your artistic goals.

Emily also teaches songwriting and piano, tailored to c
ontemporary artists.

I believe music is something that fuels the soul. It is a means of personal expression. Lessons would focus on specific goals that the student has, and also fundamental technique, etc. Learning songs, Reading music, Scales/Arpeggios, Finger exercises, Sight Reading are some of the areas of that my teaching would focus on. I am a patient, flexible teacher. I love to help students find their unique voice. I would be thrilled to help them achieve their goals, and find a sense of identity in music.

About Isabel
Hi there! Thanks for checking out my profile!
I am an avid believer than music can help people find their own unique voice. Everyone has a different style of music they enjoy to listen to, or play. Music is such a personal experience, and because of that, I think each person who is striving to become a musician or who finds themselves interested in learning music should have an individual experience on the journey of being taught and guided. While I think the fundamentals, such as learning scales, arpeggios, finger exercises, etc. are very important, I also want to focus on guiding and helping all my students (hopefully YOU, too!) achieve the specific short term and long term goals that they have set for themselves. Maybe that means learning a specific song, maybe that means beginning the journey of mastering all one can about music. Wha
tever it may be, I will tailor my instruction to incorporate technique and fundamentals, while also taking steps to reach your goals. I am patient, and while I believe that excelling in music takes focus and discipline on the part of the student to practice, I also think it should be a fun journey of musical experimentation and maybe even some self discovery.
I have been playing piano for over 10 years. I studied classical piano, as well as contemporary/modern and jazz piano. I have been playing the guitar for several years as well. I have had the privilege of taking lessons from many very accomplished musicians, who have studied and worked with many well-known musicians and singers. I am also a singer-songwriter. I want to pass on the wisdom that I've learned from my teachers onto students looking to explore music, as well. I believe that creating your own songs adds another level of self expression to music. I'd be happy to give students who are looking to compose or write their own pieces some helpful tips and guidance when it comes to that.
Overall, I am a fun, outgoing, patient teacher who would love the opportunity to help others find the same joy in music that I have! Let's start the journey!

We'll work on the ear as well as technique and theory together. In addition we'll begin to learn how to play written music on the piano, working level by level.

About Grady
My personal philosophy of music is to explore and learn as much from my students as I can teach them. For me teaching is like going on an adventure to find something together. I've been able to play all over the world and tour with many different musicians and the thing that made the core of every great performance was the human interaction and communication. For me music is about being more human. This is something I just as much try to impart and teach in my lessons as theory and technique.
