Mr. Aragon has continually shown me his love for music through his teaching. As an instructor, he paid close attention to my technique when playing the piano, guitar, or flute, and helped me improve it. Through the years, he has strongly influenced my love for music, and I continue to use what he has taught me when playing instruments and music outside the classroom. Overall, Mr. Aragon is a great, professional instructor who is passionate about teaching students music through music theory and his love of rock n roll and classical music.

I went for my first lesson this morning & John was excellent! Very professional & informative. I look forward to more upcoming lessons in the following weeks!!!

Mr.Aragon was my son’s grade school music teacher for 8 yrs. He is very patient and encouraging, and my son really enjoyed it when Mr.Aragon would teach the class music from the 50’s, 60’s, and 70’s. Now my son appreciates Motown, Michael Jackson, the Beatles, and Billy Joel as much as he does current alternative music, and he is 13!

I can't say enough great things about Sue! Under her guidance, it's been a pleasure getting back into playing my flute after a hiatus of over 25 years. Her knowledge of the instrument and expert instruction (as well as her infinite patience!) continue to provide me with the motivation I've needed to overcome some of the challenges I've faced after being away from my instrument for so long. Her teaching style is relaxed and flexible but firm; she knows just when I need to be challenged and just when to back away a bit. She's been a great fit for me, and I encourage other flute players of all levels to giver her a try!

Dr. Sue Sheya is truly an exceptional instructor. As a student who studied a little bit of music in Europe, it was difficult for me to adjust to the American solfege system (C, D, E scale) as I was used to the European solfege (Do, Re, Mi). However, Dr. Sheya was very flexible and adjusted all her lesson materials so that I could truly succeed in learning. I highly recommend her for anyone looking for a supportive, friendly, and enthusiastic teacher that can truly guide them in learning how to play the flute!

My teaching philosophy is all about self-education: not only will I teach you how to play the guitar but I will also help you learn how to teach yourself. The work required to learn an instrument doesn't come from 30 to 60 minutes of lessons from a professional, it comes from the intensity of focus you spend playing the guitar throughout your time outside of lessons.

We will start with the end in mind; what is your goal? What music or songs do you want to learn? Then, together we will build a lesson plan to accomplish that goal. Throughout the lesson plan, along with playing your favorite songs, we will cover several aspects of being a musician: proper technique; musical interpretation and expression; music theory, which will include understanding notes, scales, chords, harmonic progressions, and analyzing music; communication when performing with other musicians; and building habits and techniques toward effective practicing.

The great thing about this process is it establishes ...

"Our son has never played in a marching band before but is interested in playing in the marching band when he attends college in July so we were specifically looking for an instructor who had marching band experience to teach our son since he's never participated in the marching band in high school. We saw Mr. Stewart's profile and decided to have him work with our son. That was the BEST decision that we could have ever made. We have been nothing but impressed with Mr. Stewart. He definitely has the gift of teaching and he is very patient, knowledgeable, and he challenges our son to get better by giving him homework after each session. Our son absolutely LOVES Mr. Stewart and he is always excited for each lesson and to practice what Mr. Stewart has taught him. Our son went from not playing in the marching band at all in high school to making his college band and receiving a scholarship all thanks to Mr. Stewart. We are very grateful for his outstanding teaching and we would definitely recommend Mr. Stewart 100%."

Stacey's enthusiasm and support for the student come together to create an environment in which the student can explore their limits. Her understanding of proper singing technique and phrasing and her ability to evoke same in her students is exemplary - in other words, I love my voice teacher, Stacey!"

"I've taken a couple of lessons from Trevor so far and they have been awesome. I've taken lessons from about 7 or 8 instructors in my lifetime and he is definitely one of, if not the best.
The thing that makes Trevor stand out to me is that he took the time to get to know what I wanted to learn and to figure out how I like to learn. He comes prepared to the lessons with material, answers any questions I have during the week by email and has worked with me to develop a specific education plan to meet my goals.
I suggest taking a trial lesson with this guy to see if you're on the same page. I am definitely not going anywhere else while I live in Austin."

Do Singers Need Metronomes?

As a vocalist, should you practice singing with a metronome at your side? Read on for St. Augustine, FL teacher Heather L.'s advice...    Metronomes are devices that produce sounds in regular, pre-chosen rhythms. Many years ago, the only metronomes were simple gadgets. Though the first one that's even similar to what we now think of as a "modern" metronome was invented in the 19th century, the kind that most adults are familiar with is a mechanical, wind-up metronome. It makes a so …
