Paul M is an American born, New York-based Piano teacher, Vocal coach, Pianist, Composer and Artist. As an educator, Paul is part of The Suffolk Piano Teachers Forum, College Music Society and Music Teachers National. He has been an Adjunct-instructor at New York University (NYU). Paul also conducts master classes and seminars in The United states and South America. For the past few years, he has implemented classes in composition and music history in the coastal area of Ecuador and New York. His music studio in New York City is in high demand. He works with piano, composition and vocal performance students of all levels and styles, which include classical, jazz, blues, Tango, and Broadway. As a Pianist, In 2006 Paul was a prizewinner at the Music Club of Douglaston Piano Competition. For two consecutive years, Paul was awarded The Suffolk County Piano Forum Prize. XLNT Music recently wrote, “Paul is a fine pianist that performs with superb pianism and great sensitivity.”
 His recent public performances include Ecuador South America, Steinway Hall NYC, The United Nations, Faust Harrison Hall, Saint Peters NYC and The Staller Center. Paul has performed with The Stony Brook Symphony Orchestra and The New York University Symphony Orchestra. He has studied with well-known piano teachers including: Martin Canin, Morey Ritt, Tina Dahl, and Anita Gelber. In 2011 he released a record consisting of his performance of original compositions for solo piano that is available in bookstores and on iTunes.
As a composer Paul has composed music for the feature film Documentary Between the Shades, directed by Jill Salvino and premiered at the Soho International Film Festival in 2017. In 2014, Paul was the composer for the radio show Ackerman Associates Meets Dracula written and directed by Peter Stass. In 2014 he wrote the score for, Lies People Tell, a short film that premiered at the san pedro film festival. In 2011, he released his first solo record Succession of images, a song cycle for solo piano. In 2017, he released his second record Hope, a chamber music work recorded with clarinetist Thomas Piercy and Violinist Patrisa Tomassini. Recent public piano performances of his music include Ecuador in South America, Steinway Hall NYC, The United Nations, Spectrum NYC, Faust Harrison Hall, Saint Peters in NYC and The Staller Center in Stony Brook NY.

As an artist, Paul is known for creating large instillations, paintings and live performing art pieces. From 2014-2016, he was the artist in residence at Spectrum Gallery in NYC. In 2014, he completed the Elevator Time Machine, a large instillation made of elevator parts that responds to sound. He also wrote and produced a 20 minute live art piece called Static in Movement for piano and video. His acrylic on canvas works have also been presented at Spectrum NYC, The Art Bar, The Gallery at Logos and Ward-Nasse gallery.

I am also a composition teacher. I work with composition students from beginner to advance. My composition students, over the years, range from all ages starting at 7. My students, after the first year, have been able to write string quartets and piano trios. My advanced students have entered competitions all over the country and are very successful in their composition practice. Some of their compositions have been performed in famous concert halls and schools.
As a vocal coach, I work with students of all ages. The repertoire that I recommend to beginner students includes Disney, Broadway and classical music. For intermediate and advanced vocal student, I have successfully prepared them for competitions, Broadway and University auditions as well as personal enjoyment.
Most recently I held a piano, composition and vocal recital for my students at the world famous Steinway Hall in New York City. I believe that some students work better when there is motivation for performance activities. For that reason I host these type of events. Students that decide they want to take place in these events perform among all levels. I offer these performance opportunities as an invitation. Each student has a choice as to whether they would like to perform.

I started playing guitar seriously at the age of 12 and have been a guitar teacher for 22 years. My first influences were rock and metal. In my later teens, I became very interested in other music genres such as jazz, fusion and classical. I began my formal music education as a Classical Guitar performance major, ultimately obtaining a Masters Degree in Music Composition from the Queens College Aaron Copland School of Music.

The road I have taken with music has been paved with many unexpected twists and turns. Marco is one of the best teacher ever, I knew him way back in 1997 when I first came in to the state. At first, one of my friend was taking the session and he didn't mind me just staying and observed. After a few classes, I decided to go with Marco. As a new immigrant, language barrier is a problem. He 's patiently teach me from a to z. Making sure I understand everything. Although, I knew some of the basic of the guitar. I was surprisingly I could learn how to read music. Be able to improvise with him during lesson. You're not just learning how to play song/guitar. You learn music theory all in a packet. I still remember one day I was playing in the local shop in HK, people was whispering this guy is good. This is a good memory that I have until now.

I was a student of Marco's for about two-almost three years, and his excitement, love, desire, wisdom and passion for music and teaching is something that can't be described in words. Marco is a teacher that likes to have fun with whatever it is he may be teaching, but he is also very serious about it to make sure his students learn what they want in the best way possible to them. He will encourage his students if they need it and congratulate you every time you complete whatever it is you may have learned from him. I mostly learned techniques/songs from artist's such as Randy Rhoads, Angus Young, and much more from Marco. He will not let you down. He won't give up on you. Marco has been teaching my son how to play the guitar since 2008. I feel that we were blessed having Marco as my son's first teacher. He really understood him and I was brought to tears at his very first recital when I was amazed how much he had learned in just a short few months. He is a senior in HS now and he has a love for the guitar and a passion to learn new music on his own.
Marco is an exceptional teacher who is very patient and understands his students and listens to their needs. He is extremely talented and anyone would be very lucky to have him as their music instructor. I recommend him highly. He is the best!

Our lessons will be filled with music, support, encouragement and success! I teach to the whole student and we will get to know one another well so I can tailor your lesson specifically to your needs, goals and dreams! By taking lessons, you are taking an amazing step to improve not only your skills as a performer but also your self esteem! When you become better at an instrument or your voice improves so will your outlook! Its a natural fit!

Within 3-6 months, you'll have learned many standard warm-ups and vocalises that you can have in your back pocket for any opportunity that comes your way. If you are a singer, you will have learned how to breathe correctly for singing and implemented great technique into the style music of your choice. You will also have learned quite a few songs, starting from simple to more advanced as we go along!

For the beginner piano student, we will begin understanding basic Music Theory and scales. We will work on finger position and learn basic tunes starting with one hand at a time. soon you'll be learning how to play simple songs with both hands and accompany yourself as you sing along!

For singers, we'll learn about vocal techniques, breathing, relaxation and getting your best vocal sound and discovering how to perform a song with great diction and presence! We'll also learn performance techniques, how to work with a microphone, have a great stage presence in front of a live audience and begin learning how to read music and even get familiar with the piano keyboard!

All of my current students will say that they enjoy our lessons because each one is tailored to the individual and their goals. Its a wonderful and exciting journey that we embark upon together! I love seeing my students progress and learn over the course of our time together!

I encourage all of my students to get out and perform and i'm ALWAYS looking for opportunities for my students to do just that (unpaid AND paid!). Since music is a performing art I try to schedule two recitals a year with my students. These recitals are completely optional (but encouraged!) and take place in a local church hall or other performing space. They are done is a low stress and fun way ...and afterwards, i always provide some sweet treats for the parents and students that attend! Its a super fun way to display how hard my students have been working! Each student leaves the recital with their name and piece in a printed program and a certificate!

My studio is located in a safe, family home on a quiet street with ample street parking. The home is a smoke-free environment. We have a cute little Shih Tzu but not to worry if you have any allergies. He stays in his house downstairs and away from the studio and he never enters the studio room.

experience with many different kinds of teachers during school days, nursing school days and university days....
I recently decided to try to learn to play the piano.
Marnie is a patient, kind, skilled and wise teacher. she is always pleasant, knows her subject and is very positive while reminding me of the ins and outs of fingering and helps me learn to read music as well. Isaac is an excellent teacher and is highly recommended. His method is not centered on drills, music reading or repetition, but rather on getting an understanding of how the notes, chords work together. In so doing, the student gets a great understanding of theory and it opens the door to improvisation. In addition he's very patient with folks such as myself who don't come to class with a deep understanding of music theory.

Theory and ear training lessons are great for instrumentalists - including voice - as well as those that have never played an instrument (spoiler alert: you'll end up learning a little piano or another instrument in the process!)

Anything that is learned "theoretically" is most useful if you understand it aurally - so that you you become free to improvise or compose with it - so every theory lesson is simultaneously an ear training lesson.

Beginners typically start with simple songs, basic tonality and chord functions/scales, basic rhythm/meter, and advanced students work on things like interval training, singing atonal melodies, hearing chords with 5 or more notes, advanced chord progressions, non-western music theory/aural skills, polyrhythms, analyzing any crazy music they are often interested in, etc. At every level, we connect what we're working on with music we're listening to and explore: what exactly is going on in this music?

My name is Kiyan, I am a classically, contemporarily and pop-music trained singer, music director, recording artist, composer, and teacher.

I am currently a full time recording artist and performer. Teaching is the best way to spend my free time. I LOVE having open minded people come to me so I can really show them how to get the best sound out of their bodies. Kiyan is a great friend of mine whom I reached out to for singing lessons. I am not pursuing vocals as a career, but more for personal enjoyment. Kiyan never once made me feel as if I was new at this and broke everything down to the roots. A superb person and an excellent teacher.

Kiyan is instinctive and insightful as a teacher. Always prepared and definitely intuitive when it comes to learning how his students work. His teaching style is evocative and creative, and always in-tune with what the student needs during each individual lesson. I look forward to lessons and always feel informed and productive. Would recommend him to any student regardless of experience or skill level.

I took vocal lessons with Kiyan for a little over a year and he definitely taught me how to use my voice properly. We did a range of styles from classical to more contemporary music. He also taught me a good amount of music theory as well. If you decided to take lessons with Kiyan, he will certainly cater to your individual needs as a singer, and I'm sure you'll notice improvements with your voice in just a little while after starting lessons!

About Andrew
Andrew started playing piano at age 8. When he was 16 he picked up a bass guitar and never looked back.

At Gaithersburg High School, Andrew played bass in the Jazz Orchestra, and picked up the tuba for Marching Band. He also played in a few local punk bands.

At American University, Andrew studied bass under Dr. Josh Bayer, developing his improvising, listening, and writing skills which he utilized in the Jazz Orchestra, Contemporary Music Workshop, and countless jam sessions. He also developed his musicianship with classes on music theory, ear training, and sight-singing.

After graduating with a BA in Audio Production and Music in the spring of 2016, Andrew continues to gig with his indie rock band Calm & Crisis.

I have many years of music theory and performance experience. Most recently I composed the piano and vocal score for an original musical that completed an extended run at the NY Theatre Festival in the summer of 2017. Understanding the basics of music theory is like understanding the basics of any language. Once you understand the rules, there is no limit to what you can say and create. I am a composer, lyricist, and multi-instrumentalist. I have over 15 years of music study under my belt, and graduated from the University of New Hampshire with a minor in music in 2010. I not only have extensive music theory knowledge, but also experience playing clarinet, saxophone, flute, banjo, and guitar.

I believe that a strong foundation in music theory is the most essential skill to have when learning a new instrument, or becoming proficient in an old one. Recently I co-wrote an original musical comedy about Lewis and Clark, which I also composed all of the music for. The 120 page score was written for piano and vocals, despite the fact that I do not play the piano. How was I able to write music for an instrument I do not play?
