About Lesley
I am an accomplished classically trained operatic soprano at the beginning of my career. I grew up all over the United States, attending high school in Tennessee where I was very active in high school theatre, playing roles like Aunt Eller in Oklahoma! and Glinda in The Wizard of Oz. I currently sings operatic repertoire ranging from Mozart to Bernstein and loves new composers and exploring new music. I have studied with numerous teachers, coaches, directors, and conductors who have shaped me as a musician, and I hope to be able to impart some of what I have learned. I love to sing, and would love to help you explore singing as well. My students have received college scholarships, advanced in national competitions, and had successful auditions in both classical and Broadway style singing. My students have performed in musicals, plays,
choirs, and operas. I look forward to exploring your voice with you!

I currently teach in Bloomington, IN and online, I have previously taught in the Atlanta area for four years, as well as New Jersey and Boston, MA. I enjoy working with my students to discover and develop their true voice and passion for music! After studying vocal pedagogy, vocal anatomy, Body Mapping, Alexander Technique, acting, dance, movement, and of course years of musical study, I have honed my skills as a teacher and wants to share them with you! Healthy breathing, physicality, phonation, and resonance techniques are crucial to any style of singing - opera, classical, Broadway, or pop.

I hold a Master's degree in Opera Performance from The Boston Conservatory and a Bachelor's degree cum laude in Vocal Performance from Montclair State University. I attended the summer training programs at the Aspen Music Festival in Aspen, CO and the Seagle Music Colony in the Adirondacks. I have studied acting for over 6 years and participated in straight theatre, as well as musical theatre. I have also worked with coaches from the Metropolitan Opera, Santa Fe Opera, Atlanta Opera, and many more!

My operatic roles include: Ariadne in Ariadne auf Naxos, Tosca in Tosca, Ellen Orford in Peter Grimes, Giorgetta in Il tabarro, Miss Jessel in Britten's, The Turn of the Screw, Mrs. Gobineau in Menotti's The Medium, The Female Chorus in Britten's The Rape of Lucretia, Clara Deluso in Pasatieri's Signor Deluso, Magda Sorel in Menotti's The Consul, Geraldine in Menotti's A Hand of Bridge, Ariadne in Strauss' Ariadne auf Naxos, Elisabetta in Donizetti's Maria Stuarda, Contessa d'Almaviva in Mozart's Le Nozze di Figaro, Alice Ford in Verdi's Falstaff, Rosalinde in Die Fledermaus, and the First Lady in Die Zauberflote.

My theatre roles include: The Witch in Sondheim's Into the Woods, Aunt Eller in Rodgers & Hammerstein's Oklahoma!, Marion Hollander in Woody Allen's Don't Drink the Water, Glinda in The Wizard of Oz, Lucy in You're A Good Man, Charlie Brown, and Bobby's Mother in Gershwin's Crazy For You.

I am also featured on Albany Records release of Signor Deluso in the role I performed with the Opera Company of Brooklyn. I have performed the soprano solos in Verdi's Requiem, Faure's Requiem, and Gounod's St Cecilia Mass. Recently I worked closely with Stephen Schwartz - creator of the hit Broadway musical Wicked to create the starring role, Myra Foster, in his first opera - Seance on a Wet Afternoon.

In 2010 I was a Metropolitan Opera National Council Semi-Finalist. I claimed third place and the Wagner award in the Orpheus National Vocal Competition. I was also recognized for excellence with the Benefactor's Award in the Saritelli DiPanni Bel Canto Vocal Scholarship Fund as well as being a semi-finalist in the 2009 Jensen Competition. I enjoyed participating in NATS (National Association of Teachers of Singing) for many years, placing every year in college, and taking home first prize senior year. In my junior year, I won my entire division for the Eastern Regional NATS competitions. I also participated in the All-State choirs for 3 years in high school, taking first chair soprano 1 in my senior year, and being awarded a solo.

My Reading and Phonics lessons are made to dazzle and awe your child into an understanding of letters, sounds, and the written page with several learning enrichment programs as well as numer
ous supplemental material. I also love to work with teachers when possible and use placement tests to determine where to start and periodically to know how to continue. (The kids just think they are games).

All of my lessons are designed to foster a love for reading or music and focus on your reading and Phonics goals or your dream in the music world as well as build knowledge and expertise for both!

Does your child have some knowledge but just has not excelled in phonics or reading? We can tailor lessons for just that.

Maybe you have some music knowledge but just can't play or sing that special song? We can tailor lessons for that, too!

Maybe your child knows letters and sounds but just hasn't made the leap to reading? We can tailor the lessons to get your child from point B to Z!

Can you read music but not play on your own? Can you play by ear and not read music? I have experience bridging the gaps.

Is your dream to become a Soloist, harmonizer or karaoke star? Accompany yourself or others or just play for fun? Then why not you and I embark on that exciting journey together!

Is your dream just for your child to be able to read at grade level or above? I will give it my all for them to do so.

I am a very laid back instructor, though the classes are very well structured.

Usually, we progress with a chosen curriculum according to the student's or parent's vision and initial overview during the 1st few classes. However, all curriculums are supplemented to enhance student performance and comprehension. Our supplemental material is used to go swifter for material that you grasp well and understand, and slower with more repetition for that that you need more practice, without being monotonous. It is also used to provide appropriate but exciting reinforcement of all material to ensure that material is retained.

We are forever updating material and also incorporate games and enhanced activities to keep lessons interesting and refreshing as well!

I also have experience in teaching autistic, ADD, ADHD and those with varying degrees of brain damage.

About Elizabeth
I am a Science teacher besides my experience as a English and Spanish tutor, working in this field for more than 6 years. I graduated from Vincennes University with an Associate Degree in Environmental and Ecological Engineering. Currently, I am pursuing my Bachelor Degree in Environmental Engineering at The National Polytechnic University, also known as EPN in Quito, Ecuador.
At the age of 19, I started working as a professor of Abstract Reasoning and Exact Sciences at Stephen W. Hawking Institute in Ecuador, my home country. Eventually, I had the opportunity of training at different Departments as a STEM , Spanish and English tutor at Vincennes Univ., IN, USA from 2016 to 2018.
I strongly believe that we all should be determined to find a career that would be our passion and reflects our life goal as well. This perspectiv
e encouraged me to step out of my comfort zone to become a scholarship student sponsored by Ecuador’s government on 2015; that very August I started my studies at USA. That opportunity represented the commencement that I was looking for my journey Environmental Eng. focused on Nanotechnology.
All these once in a lifetime events have maked me realize that one of my passions in life is the opportunity to share knowledge constantly, as well as, to help individuals eager to improve even when some details appear to be insignificant. Indeed, the process of teaching-learning actually represents such an enriching academic and personal experience.
Assuredly, obstacles really do not matter when we strive for more innovation and knowledge, because the universe always falls in love with a stubborn soul; so let's get started!

Learning always takes on a new exciting flavor when you're working with someone who is truly passionate about seeing their students succeed, and that's me! I have been teaching all ages for about 16 years and I love my work.

My passion is English, English literature, writing (I am a published fiction author), and helping people acquire English through ESL instruction. I have students from Hong Kong to Houston and I love it! I also teach SAT and ACT verbal and essay writing sections and scored a perfect 6 on the essay for the GRE exam. I am a supportive and insightful writing coach and editor. I worked at the Paris Review just out of college in the editorial department and great works of English literature and non-fiction excite me profoundly. I have students now from middle school through to their 50's and I love them all.

I work
with adult business people on written presentations and research projects, from all over the world. Also many college level students work with me editing and perfecting essays for their classes and on research paper construction, development and editing in subjects areas as diverse as mapping genomes for olfactory function in mice to French literature theses or film studies papers.

I have a number of middle school kids working with me on creative writing currently as well.

I only teach online using Skype which is the easiest and most flexible way for me to work with my students from all over the world.
I work out of the EST time zone.
