Become comfortable with daily conversational Japanese. I also offer music lesson in Japanese.

About Asuka
I started my musical training as a pianist at YAMAHA institute at age 4 in Japan. I was selected to enter perfect pitch class. It was designated for students who have perfect pitch and potentials to be professional musicians.

I enjoyed playing piano and electric piano and won the 1st prize at Kitakantou Electric Piano Competition hosted by YAMAHA institute. Because of the intensive training, I have been accompanying my students' recitals and performance exams.

As much as I enjoyed playing piano, I discovered that I also love singing, so I started to take singing lessons and majored in vocal performance during my college days.

Since I have graduated, I have been performing opera professionally. My career highlights include roles as Dorinda(Cantanti project), Pamina (Die Zauberflote) with Opera Manhattan Studio, Frasquita (Carmen)
with One World Symphony, Zerlina (Don Giovanni) and Clorinda (La Cenerentola) with Capitol Heights Opera, Alice (Le comte Ory) with West Side Opera Society, Adele (Die Fledermaus), Susanna (Le Nozze di Figaro), and Myrrhine (Lysistrata) with Opera Avanti, Gilda (Rigoletto) with Academie Internationale d'Ete de Nice, and The First Spirit (Die Zauberflote) with the Opera Company of Brooklyn.

My international credits include studies at the Academy Internationale d'Ete de Nice, France; the Daniel Ferro Vocal Program in Chianti, Italy; the International Vocal Arts Institute in Tel Aviv, Israel; and an appearance at the Young Artist's Concert in Tokyo, Japan.

As a versatile singer, I was presented as an aspiring opera singer on the website of Maybelline New York. My voice was featured in short films for NEC, the Japanese technology company.

I was also selected as a finalist at the Opera Idol Competition at Lincoln Center, the Hariclea Darclee Voice Competition in Romania, and the Mario Lanza and Elaine Malbin Vocal Competition. In the summer 2014, I received a scholarship to perform at The Savannah Voice Festival that is founded by Metropolitan Opera/Grammy Award Winner Opera Star Mr. Sherrill Miles. My upcoming engagement includes singing the title role of Madame Butterfly with Snob Opera in Montreal and Quebec that is supported by Quebec City.

Besides being an opera singer, I have been teaching piano and voice for 11 years. I have been fortunate to study with the world renowned teachers. I continue my vocal studies with Mr.Gerald Martin Moore who teaches Tony award winner Kelly O'Hara, Met star Renee Flemimg and Mr. William Hicks who was a coach for Luciano Pavarotti at The Metroplitan Opera. I would like to share my skills and experience with you. Since I perform often, I can coach you how to perform on stage in addition to building solid technique and languages. Also, I have taught various kinds of music, such as Rock, Broadway musicals, Pop music, so we can work on all kind of music.

I look forward to teaching you soon!

*** Lesson Details ***
My students can expect to improve their skills and start to enjoy music more as we work together.
I believe that learning music is fun and enjoyable. However you also need to be serious and focused.
I can demonstrate various and specific techniques, phrasing, and interpretation and will always coach on how to develop your skills. However, I feel it is important for students to think critically on their own and take the first try at solving a problem themselves. I cannot emphasize enough that primarily it is you who find the ways to improve. Leaning music is a collaboration between teachers and students. I hope that through my lessons, students will become more self-sufficient and confident as musicians.
Let me help you become a better musician.

Piano (Clavinova), music stand, and desk.

I'm almost afraid to write this review lest Asuka's schedule gets totally filled with new students:) I started lessons with Asuka Nov 22 as a beginner and by January 15 the notes I could sing increased by an octave.

My high C/C6 came by early December, a couple of weeks after starting with Asuka. Some of this is my voice type, but I believe anyone who works with Asuka will see improvement.

I am taking lessons with a well-regarded pop teacher from the same time period and I've developed almost entirely from Asuka's lessons vs the other teacher, and quickly too with consistent practice. What Asuka teachers carries over to non-classical singing also.

Asuka is not rigid in her approach, thankfully, and she is so nice about the million things beginner singers can correct. I don't feel embarassed singing in front of her because she is non-judgmental.

I did some online lessons when she was traveling, and I got just as much out of them so even if I leave New York I will continue working with her.

Learning Japanese? As being a composer for short Anime films and having a Japanese backround, I have worked with Japanese companies for many years and trained employees of different companies in not only speaking Japanese but also the business culture. But that is not all my classes are for everybody for those planning a trip to Japan. What's special of my classes is that we learn to have a conversation for different situations every week. You will start talking after your first class! CHECK OUT MY VIDEOS HERE ON TL FOR JAPANESE TIPS!

About Rosita
I have been singing and studying voice for over 23 years since I was a child! I hold a Bachelors from Musicians Institute and other accomplished degrees from American Musical Dramatic Academy to conclude my quest for vocal excellence and the ability to sing in multiple languages ( English, Spanish, Japanese and Italian) I have been lucky enough to study with some of the top teachers in the country and now I bring the experience I have gained directly to you!
I am proud to share my student's vast array of musical successes. From being cast on short anime films and musicals to being accepted into prestigious performing arts academies to conquering the Karaoke scene. My passion for multiple languages and love of music is the desire driving me to share the gifts for teaching young children to open the door to their own musical abilities and
hidden artistic desires. I am currently writing a musical which will be debuting in 2020. I'm currently the vocal coach/Trainer and choir director at Iglesia Elim Central.

I will make sure my students have fun and help them get in the right track to their musical goals.

Also, I constantly upload videos on Singing, The Spanish Language, and Japanese! So keep Checking in! It ranges on tips and answering the most common questions on those particular subjects!

Also There are discounted rates for worship teams and church choirs. For more information please contact me through the "Ask a Question feature"

*** Lesson Details ***
I do my absolute best to create a positive atmosphere for my students. Even when the students feel frustrated or stressed, it is important to inspire them and give them the fuel that they need. Though I am strict when it comes to homework and their about their studies. Every lesson at the beginning I will review what we learned previously and test them.
then begin with proper breathing technique exercises, the cornerstone of all vocals. We move on to vocal exercises to condition the voice. Then we work on the songs that you are eager to sing!

I will use a piano when doing vocal warm ups and conditioning exercises. Students that play other instruments and accompany themselves when performing (such as a guitar) are encouraged to bring that instrument to their lessons. My goal is for them to gain the knowledge that they need to help reach their artistic goals.
With all my lessons every student will be taught a basic run down of Music Theory. My students will always progress in what they do. They will have the discipline that they need and yet have fun and be filled with inspiration. Which is the most important thing, to be Inspired to do better.

*** Studio Equipment ***
iMac, condensing mic...performing mic, keyboard, mixer...living room of apartment.

*** Travel Equipment ***
I do have a portable keyboard. Though I do expect the student to have their own recording device and karaoke tracks. At Home I do have a studio, and if the students has an iPod or an Mp3 player I can attach it to a device where all of us can hear the tracks. I do have a recording studio as well.

*** Specialties ***
I specialize in Musical Theatre, and Pop rock genres. When I teach my students I always have them learn a song of another language whether it's Spanish or Japanese. It helps with diction when they learn a song outside the English Language. Also It helps them to learn another Language at the same time. Also I give them a little anatomy class when they are learning how to sing. I give them a model of the vocal Chords and different areas of the Larynx and which part works for the chest voice and the head voice.

今日は and welcome to learning Japanese, I have a bachelor's degree in Japanese language and culture from the Ohio State University, and I have tutored Japanese before and it really isn't as intimidating as it looks. I've learned through many ways and I have many many resources that I will gladly share with you so you can learn on your own, whether you're a beginner or advanced, I can direct you to how to become very fluent with all my knowledge and resources combined. Also as a bonus I will teach you some kanji calligraphy if interested as well.

About Moataz
I am a Freelance Graphic Designer living in Stamford, Connecticut. I love learning and teaching, like a lot. I teach languages, Lettering, branding, and the basics of Graphic design as well as the adobe programs that bring it to life.

My promise to you is that I will teach you everything I know in the time I'm given and provide you with all sorts of outside resources to get you on your way to fluency and proficiency.

I'll make sure to do my absolute best to get you speaking a new language from day one, learning a Design program immediately, or teaching you how to letter with the rules they don't teach you in school. And best of all, I'll even show you how to actually make money with all of these.

I have a very unique journey into learning where I experienced many places and got a fresh and different understanding to the many su
bjects that I teach. For example my knowledge of multiple languages and travel to different countries gave me an added knowledge of linguistics that I experienced first hand and confirmed in books, so now I know how languages work, and can relate a concept from one language to another even if the languages seem completely different.

My Design work has been very general so I've done a lot of different things before I specialized in hand lettering, so I've done it all from advertisements on billboards to website design and development, to copywriting, to branding from start to finish for companies big and small.

My love for lettering and Calligraphy emerged when I started getting more Logos for client work and my exploration of type wasn't the best answer most of the time so I would letter everything myself, and the rest is history.

I am really passionate about learning and even more passionate about sharing what I've learned. I am efficient, I know what works for different people since I taught in classrooms and tutored way before I knew about Takelessons, and I'm most proud of being praised as a very genuine person. A very common compliment I get is that I sincerely want my students to do well. And it makes me really happy every time someone says it, and I hope that one day you see that and tell me the same thing.

Feel free to find out more about me and ask me anything you want, and I really look forward to one day teach you something that will get you to achieve your goals! :)

Just so there are no surprises, I raise my prices very slightly every 3 months, next time it will go up is on March 3rd 2017. The reason for this is because I get better and more efficient at teaching as time goes by, so that hour that you get now is much more packed with value than the same hour last year or last month.

I'm originally from Tokyo, Japan.
I have been in U.S.A for 10 years already, though…
Since I'm a Japanese, bunch of people have asked me to teach and I always helped them when I have time.

I even took a Japanese class to learn how people study the language in college class, I can help people in college class method.
I also have materials that help you to improve writing and reading.
I know reading and writing are tough. But step by step, you definitely master those!

Let's talk what you want to know and why are you interested in the language. Maybe because of Anime? Comic? or even some pop music? I can easily find those media to help you.

Class start from talking about what you like, who you are. Speak as much as you can or write in English then translate it into Japanese.
If you have no clue in writing, I give you materials to study "Hiragana' and "Katakana." if you are already comfortable of those letters, I'll move on to easy "kanji."
We will talk about grammar based ...

O genki desu ka?
Hi, I'm Richard, and I can teach you simple Japanese. I graduated from BYU in Japanese and lived as an LDS Missionary in Tokyo for two years in 2003-2005. I love teaching everything that I know in a simple, understandable way. So I can help you learn the basics faster than you would normally. I know what it's like learning in school where you seem to take forever, and don't get very good. I also know what it's like talking to many people in Japan, and learning very quickly, and knowing the difference. I want to help you learn as efficiently and as quickly as possible. I also have a one hour presentation of the basics of Japanese grammar, that basically covers like the first 2 years of college Japanese classes! No joke, it's a powerpoint presentation I've put together that will really give you the "big picture" with the backwards grammar that we try to understand. Ask me any question, and I'll do my best to help you out! Mata ne!

About Richard
My goal is to help students ENJOY the piano by finding ways to make it easier and doable. I have a very useful approach in helping students become self sufficient to sight read very well, to see patterns, understand music theory to either help them play well, or to even create their own music(I compose a lot of great music as well)

I couldn't sight read very well until I was 16, but I had a great sight reading teacher that showed me how to develop it, and now I can say that I'm one of the best sight readers out there that I know. I was a ballet pianist at Brigham Young University for several years where all I did was sightread binders full of ballet/classical music. I play for choirs, church congregations, jazz bands, or musical jam sessions all the time, and I couldn't do that at all if I didn't learn how to sight read well.
I would love to help you learn the piano, and I will do my best to make learning as effective as possible. I especially enjoy teaching those who quit and would like to try again, because I know what that is like.

Concerning my musical background, I've played, arranged, and composed piano for choirs, bands, jazz combos, singers. I've been in bands all my life, and have composed for jazz bands, choirs, and orchestras at BYU and in Eastern Europe. I also play about 10 different instruments. I won two Student Emmys in Hollywood for my compositions to BYU's animations in 2010 & 2014.

I am currently writing music for video games.

I am an adult learner and have just finished my first five piano lessons with Richard and have already booked up five more! I have been working through the excellent Piano Pronto series with him, but Richard has also been happy to set me practice pieces from other books of my choosing and has been very adept at helping me, even with pieces that are unfamiliar to him.

Richard is also a teacher on Piano Maestro, an iPad application where you can, among other things, play the pieces from Piano Pronto (and Alfred's). This has been a great way to practice, and would be especially good for children (as Richard gets a weekly progress report, including time played).

Richard is very flexible and teaches each lesson at my pace - so, the more I practice, the more I can progress! He is patient and encouraging and clearly wants me to enjoy each lesson - and I do! I can't wait to begin my next block of lessons!

A Hidden Treasure of Advice: If you are really serious about learning and mastering this language, you will need to learn to read and write Hiragana, Katakana and Kanji (Chinese characters). You know when you have reached an acceptable level of proficiency when you can read for example the Yomiuri Shimbun (one of the five national newspapers in Japan) with ease and that's when the real fun begins!

This language is so different than the Latin-based languages, e.g. French, Spanish; and so if you get the wrong tutor, in the long-term, you might even get worse than make any real progress!

Choose wisely.

90mins/lesson + travel fee; travel fee waived for 120min lessons.

(IMPORTANT: Please do NOT book any lessons without confirming with me if we have a match in schedule. I have other obligations besides tutoring so if you do not have a flexible schedule, I recommend other tutors that will match your budget and schedule.)

About Rod
I specialize in Test Prep (NYC Gifted & Talented Test, SHSAT, TACHS/HSPT/COOP, SSAT/ISEE, Common Core, Regents, college/graduate admissions tests [i.e. SAT/ACT, GRE/GMAT]) and tutor a number of academic subjects in Mathematics (Algebra, Geometry, Trigonometry, Calculus, Linear Algebra, Combinatorics), Statistics and Science (especially Physics) and K-12 English. I am particularly interested in Number Theory, Systems Engineering (Feedback Theory), Electronics (Analog Circuit Design) and Cosmology. In the social sciences and in my work experience, I was practically exposed to Marketing and HR/Corporate Strategy. I have bachelor's and master's degrees in electronics engineering and business respectively and I enjoy tutoring both children and adults.

(NOTE: Use the "Ask a Question" feature to confirm if we have a match in schedules
and targets/expectations. In other words, DO NOT book any lessons with me unless we have a mutual understanding. Please read my profile below, the subject(s) you are interested in, my tutoring rates and minimum times very carefully. Thank you.)

My interests also include gifted learning and STEM education. For example, I was successful in helping a 5-year old pass the NYC Gifted & Talented Test so he could enroll in any New York City school participating in the program.

I have several years experience working with various people from different backgrounds as an engineer (hardware+software) and as business developer in multinational companies and startups and this exposure has given me deeper and practical insights into personality and intelligence enabling me to adapt my teaching style to different needs and situations. Furthermore, I have learned from experience that there are three best tools for learning: practice, practice and more practice!

Tutoring for yourself or for your son/daughter is both an investment in time and money for a future return so please also plan accordingly. Now, I make sure that I do not totally depend on tutoring for income so I can maintain a certain level of quality. In other words, when there is a match in objective, budget and schedule, I am quite happy to be part of someone's educational journey. I consider it indeed a very special privelege to be able to help a student because it is my experience that effective education can be life-changing. Finally, I am aware that other tutors may be in a better position to meet your existing situation so we have to accept that and move on.

Tutoring Rate (IMPORTANT): I only do in-person tutoring because I believe effective learning is multi-dimensional and personal not flat and distant. My minimum lesson length is 1.5 hours for Academic subjects and 2.0 hours for Test Prep. My rates for children and teens will in principle be at least the same as adults because I actually invest more time and effort since I have to consider the feedback of at least 2 individuals (student+guardian) compared with an adult student. Different arrangements possible on a case-by-case basis. Please see each subject rate for more details.

When I am not tutoring, I am involved in projects related to technology, hospitality and service industries. I also enjoy cooking especially when I can make an ordinary dish into something extra-ordinary by adding that little "extra."

I️ was connected to Rod through a tutoring agency. I️ contacted the agency because I️ recently graduated college and wanted to get into grad school but had not taken a math class since the 10th grade. The school I️ was applying to needed a minimum math score for the GRE, which I️ knew would be a enormous stretch for me. Additionally, I️ always had trouble with math and knew I️ would need a tutor to re-teach me everything I️ needed to know to get the score I️ wanted. Initially, the agency connected me to 3 different tutors who were all absolutely terrible! Sometimes they didn’t even know how to answer sample questions in the workbooks! Finally, I was connected to Rod. After our first meeting I️ knew he would be the one who would help me improve. After a month of intense work with him my GRE math scores actually improved a full 12 points! Beyond that, he literally taught me math in a way in which I️ actually understood it. Before I️ just thought I couldn’t learn, but now I’m confident that I️ actually retained everything and it even made sense! I’m so grateful to have met Rod because before him I️ truly felt hopeless. I️ would definitely recommend Rod to anyone who is looking to drastically improve their math skills. If you’re like me and hate math, can’t grasp it, and even feel like you just can’t learn it, then definitely contact Rod now! You won’t be sorry!

I initially reached out to Rod for Algebra 1 review because I felt that my daughter lacked a solid foundation in algebra. However, after a couple of sessions, we have decided to switch gears toward geometry with Rod’s recommendation. Throughout the geometry lessons, algebra practice was incorporated. I am happy that not only did Rod tailor his lessons to my daughter’s goals but also he gave her a lot of encouragement. My daughter found it extremely helpful that she got to explain and discuss with Rod, which made lessons interactive and real learning. Now going back to school, my daughter feels confident, thanks to Rod!

Rod worked with my daughter weekly for a couple of months leading up to the NYC state tests. With Rod's careful, concerted planning and diligence, my daughter's score went from 2.4 on the 7th grade Math state test, to a 2.8 in 8th grade, which equates to a move from below the 50th percentile, to between the 50th and 75th percentile. My daughter's in-school math instruction was chaotic and disjointed, and I attribute her improvement to Rod's intervention.

Hello, my name is Maxmillion. I was born and raised on the beautiful island of Guam, and my parents are both from Okinawa, Japan. I grew up speaking both English and Japanese, and spent many summers attending school in Okinawa. I am comfortable teaching conversational Japanese, hiragana, katakana, basic kanji, and I can also help with proper pronunciation. I currently offer online lessons and in home lessons, but can also meet up locally at a coffee shop, library, etc. よろしくお願いします!

About Maxmillion
I am very proud to have been born and raised on the lovely island of Guam! I have been playing guitar, bass, and drums since I was 15, and have had a passion for music since I can remember. In 2007, I earned my associates degree in music from Musicians Institute Hollywood. I have had my music placed in popular television shows, such as “The Real World” and “Road Rules," as well as the film “The Tested.”

I previously played guitar in a project called Xolie Morra and the Strange Kind. We were featured as the musical guest on the popular late night talk show, "Jimmy Kimmel Live!" in January 2014. We were also featured on the local television programs "Art Zone with Nancy Guppy" and "New Day Northwest." We are also featured on YouTube as sponsored artists on EMGtv and Blue Microphones. I also have had the opportunity to share the stage with
Crosby Stills and Nash, John Mayer, Don Felder, Brandi Carlile, Russell Ferrante, Travis Carlton, and the Dirty Dozen Brass Band.

Guitar is my main focus, but I am also comfortable teaching bass and ukulele. I love all styles, and specialize in rock, blues, funk, pop, reggae, metal, and acid jazz. I have experience teaching students of all ages (as young as 4 years old) and am currently an active teacher. I am also fluent in Japanese.

Max is very knowledgable about music and it's theories. However, he also understands where his students are and what they need. He made lessons in guitar applicable at my level. He is very patient and works well with kids. You can tell he genuinely cares for people and wants them to improve!

Max is a great bass guitar teacher. You can tell that he has a deep fundamental understanding of music and he presents lessons very clearly and at a manageable pace. My bass playing, music theory, and music appreciation have improved dramatically under his instruction.

Hi! I'm Rachel. After graduating Lewis & Clark College with a Bachelors in Philosophy and Japanese Language, I was hired through the JET program to teach English in Japan. I just got home after 2 years in Miyagi Prefecture, and I'm excited to do more teaching! I have N3 level Japanese, so I am very comfortable tutoring any beginner or intermediate student.

Many people believe that a native speaker will be a more knowledgeable resource for language learning. While there is a lot of merit to learning from natives, as a non-native Japanese speaker, I have a better ability to relate to the language learning process, which is equally (if not more) important. I know I will be able to explain grammar points and vocabulary in a clear, understandable way.
