I am now able to record my first EP. Eric gave me lots of precious pieces of advice and I am so happy to finally being able to sing like I used to sing before. Thanks to the singing lessons, I am well prepared and could not be happier!

Great first lesson! Eric spent a lot of time listening to my voice and understanding my background in order to make the most of our time and determine what our next lessons should cover. We started with vocal exercises that illustrated/practiced basic concepts that were enlightening to an inexperienced singer like myself, so I feel like I left the lesson already having learned a lot! Though I was nervous, he was always very reassuring and kept the lesson light and fun to ease my nerves. Very much looking forward to my next lesson!

Guitar lessons can go in a number of directions, from learning how to read music to strumming chords or developing ideas for improvisation. I try to create an agenda that fits the interests of each student, whether they want to work on developing great technique or simply learning to play songs.

About Adrian
Music has played a big role in my life ever since I was 4 and heard The Beatles' "A Hard Day's Night." From that point on, I committed myself towards a life in music, soon after beginning lessons on classical guitar. Through high school I studied classical and jazz guitar at Philadelphia's esteemed Settlement Music School, and I subsequently attended New York University as a jazz studies major in both guitar and composition for a bachelors and masters degree.

As a teacher, I love to pair my academic knowledge of music with my decades of experience listening to and playing popular music ranging from rock and funk to bluegrass and hip hop. I've performed in settings ranging from jazz clubs in Italy, to theater in New York, and rock clubs in Philadelphia. In my lessons I like to bring that diverse experience to create a curriculum tha
t compliments the interests of the student.

*** Lesson Details ***
In a private lesson setting I like to say, "What you put in is what you'll get out." Students who show up having practiced a lot, who are eager to dive in depth into a subject, will grow immensely in a short amount of time. Those who are interested in practicing guitar as a casual activity also have plenty to gain, and I try to push my students in accordance with their interest level.

As a teacher, I like to support my students' personal ambitions on the instrument and with music on the whole, drawing on a wide range of materials. My goal is to put the proper resources in front of my students and ask them questions that will push them to discover the elements of music they knew they were looking for and some they didn't.

Every student has personal goal, and I like to draw on my diverse background in music to help each of mine achieve theirs.

*** Studio Equipment ***
Common space seating for parents.

*** Travel Equipment ***
I expect my students to have an instrument, paper, and a pencil. I can bring a music stand if necessary.

*** Specialties ***
I have been playing various styles of guitar, from classical to jazz to rock and beyond, for most of my life, so I feel comfortable showing all students the style they are most interested in.

Adrian is not only great guitar player but also a great teacher. I had taken private lesson since summer of 2015 and had a great learning experience on both playing classical guitar and understanding a music in general. He breaks down a piece and tries to help me understand how the music should be played and suggests different ways to approach no matter how simple a piece is. I would recommend for classical guitar and big thumbs up!

Fun and Inspiring

Adrian's teaching style has helped me to understand the music pieces in an intuitive way. His ability to breakdown a complex concept into simple ones makes the learning fun and natural. Adrain makes the lessons interesting by discussing the music piece in length and also by sharing the music history behind it. He lets the student decide the pace of learning, but at the same time nudges him to take the next step. I will recommend Adrian to anyone who is interested in learning music.

I would highly recommend Adrian.

Adrian's passion for music really comes through in his lessons, always making lessons both informative and fun. Having no prior experience with the guitar before taking lessons from Adrian, he really catered to my strengths and passion points to find a teaching method that suited me well. It wasn't long before I was able to play a song and all the while, in addition to learning the very basics, Adrian also tuned into music theory and songwriting, which gave our lessons great depth. Additionally, Adrian was always very accommodating with my hectic schedule. I highly recommend Adrian to anyone seeking to begin or advance their guitar skills.

I will break down the nuances of learning the guitar in a friendly, clear, and articulate manner. We will discuss various concepts of the guitar in the styles and songs you enjoy most.

About Adam
A graduate of the University of Rochester with a B.A. in Music and Psychology and trained at renowned National Guitar Workshop, Adam is an experienced teacher and performer on the guitar, piano, ukulele, and bass in a variety of styles, including rock, pop, jazz, classical, and folk. Adam loves to share his passion for music with others, and ever since his first student, an autistic child, Adam has sought to make learning music fun, regardless of age, style, and ability.

*** Lesson Details ***
My approach to teaching music is strictly an individualized one, catering to the specific interests and goals of each student. I believe that if learning music is truly enjoyable and fun, students will develop a sincere love for their instrument. In teaching children, my emphasis is on instilling in them a love of music. While progressing in mus
ic obviously requires preparation outside of lessons, I consciously avoid asking students to practice. Instead, I incorporate the music and styles that appeal most to the student and use them as vehicles for teaching concepts.

I strive to make learning music fun, regardless of age, style, and ability. I organize an annual recital to showcase my students' talents and hard work.

*** Travel Equipment ***
I will provide all music and instructional materials, and ask that students provide a clean, quiet area to hold our lesson, ideally with a music stand. I also ask that a student provide their own instrument. If providing an instrument is not possible, I ask that the student notify me so I can provide an instrument for them in the interim.

*** Specialties ***
I specialize in a wide range of styles on the acoustic and electric guitar, piano, ukulele, and bass.

I explain music theory in a fun, clear, and articulate manner and show its benefits and application in song writing, learning music, and playing by ear. My extensive background in rock, classical, pop, folk, and jazz allows for a truly cater my instruction to my student's tastes.

I make it my mission to structure my lessons on my student's goals and interests and avoid imposing concepts that don't interest my students.

Adam does a great job of adjusting to the student's level of experience. I'm a beginner with some minimal uke experience, and he adjusted the pace of the lesson accordingly. I especially like his emphasis on contemporary music; he seems to have fun with music which, as someone who endured years of strict classical piano training as a kid, I find very refreshing.

Guitar lessons of any type!

About Marlon
While some musicians achieve their success by their talents, others, like guitarist Marlon Oliveira, earn it through their hard work, perseverance, and dedication.

Motivated by his passion to bring the wonderful music of the classical guitar to a wider audience, Oliveira has overcome many obstacles to his goals: He started the guitar at the late age of 16, significantly behind his peers in music school; he did not pass his first audition to get into music school, but changed his teacher and worked even harder to get in; and he overcame the debilitating effects of Repetitive Strain Injury that plagued him for 3 years by committing himself the study of better technique, better health, and better practice habits. Oliveira says, “The injury slowed me down a bit, but I remained persistent in my practice and my studies and I have recovered s
o that I can still play, something I am very happy about”.

Before auditioning for music school, Oliveira was enrolled at Queens College as an undeclared major. “I was scared to do music, because it seemed like such a hard living, especially when I saw many other guitarists drop out of the music program. But then I realized if I didn’t devote myself fully to the study of music, then nothing was going to happen with it, so I put everything else off to the side to pursue my degree and a life of music.”Since earning his degree in music, Oliveira continues teaching music for a living.

Since his graduation in 2011, Oliveira has performed at the International Toronto BrazilFest, at LIC Concerts, with the NYC Guitar Orchestra, and in many private events.

After one year, Marlon has been a great teacher since our first lesson and continues to be. His lessons never gets boring. He has been teaching everything I’ve always desired to learn, how to read notes interpret beats, tempo, theory, and different strumming patterns. He’s also very patient, generous, and always responds to my questions in a prompt manner, whether it is via email or text. He understands that each student has their own pace to learn guitar playing and has always been encouraging. Marlon has the skill set to teach students such as myself, who had no prior experience, To the most experienced ones. I have faith he will make anyone play a guitar like a professional. Check him out!

I started playing acoustic guitar when I was seven years old. I have been playing and teaching mostly bluegrass, old time, Irish, blues, and swing jazz styles for many years. I have taught both privately and have also done various workshops at festivals. I have taught guitar multiple years for instance at the Gettysburg Bluegrass Festival in PA.
My students learn to have fun with music. Students can work on rhythms, melodies, improvisation, song writing, getting into and/or hanging on in a jam session, etc.

About Tara
I have a Masters in Education as well as having spent many years performing, teaching in one on one and group settings both privately and at music camps and festivals. I play and teach bluegrass, old time, Irish, and swing jazz styles. I like my students to really enjoy playing music and their lessons as well as learning to become fluent in the language of music. It is not required that folks learn to read music necessarily, but it can be a part of the lessons if desired. I love to see my students able to continue learning and playing on their own, be able to hold their own at jams and on the stage is they so desire, or just enjoy making music for themselves. I have techniques that have proven effective to help get past jam phobia, that help folks learn to improvise who have not had any luck with doing so before, and help getting away fro
m sheet music addictions to be able to have fun and confidence out at jams. I also can give a good foundation in music theory as it applies to one's actual playing and have it be fun and make sense.

I encourage students to grow and develop as a musician - not just a guitar player. It's important to understand the use of space, technique, groove & taste.

As a multi-instrumentalist, producer & composer - I've been able to explore and experience the industry as a performer and recording artist. As a graduate of Berklee College of Music, I also expect to reflect and draw knowledge to share with my students. In a friendly and musical environment, let's learn!

About Ed
Ed, originally from Bath, England started Spanish guitar lessons at the age of 7; he was later encouraged and inspired to pursue various aspects within the musical world, from writing and production to performing as an artist. Going back and forth between acoustic and electric guitar, Ed has drawn inspiration from many places around the world that has led him to compose for orchestras, produce records and play in pop groups and rock bands. Having achieved a degree from Berklee College of Music with great honours, he now continues his career in New York City where he resides as of August 2016. Ed has recorded guitar on releases from bands such as alt-J and Chaz French. Learn how to play guitar and read music; also, develop your musical "inner ear" and understanding of music theory.

About Daniel
Hello! I am a saxophonist, jazz musician, woodwind player, and music educator. I have a degree in Jazz Performance from William Paterson University, where I studied with Mulgrew Miller, Harold Mabern, Vincent Herring, Rich Perry, Bill Mobley, and many more of New York/New Jersey's finest musicians. I have experience playing professionally in jazz ensembles (as both a sideman and leader), pit orchestras, and wedding/cover bands.

My teaching career began informally while I was in high school, showing friends the basics of what I knew at the time on different instruments. I would also give some lessons to family friends, usually the younger siblings who were just starting out in 5th or 6th grade band. After I graduated from college in 2016, I began teaching professionally at various music studios throughout the North Jersey area, and thr
ough online services like this one. I also have experience in teaching after-school music programs in a classroom setting with elementary schoolers (K- 3rd grade).

Guitar lessons are a fun, laid-back, and encouraging experience for anyone to pursue. My lessons are specifically designed to accomplish the goals of the student, whether it's as simple as playing along with your favorite songs, or obtaining the musical foundation to begin writing your own songs. Former students have thanked me for being laid-back, non-rigid, and down to earth. My diverse musical background lets me offer students of any genre a fast track to learning the skills they desire, and having fun along the way as well!

About Nikolas
With 10 years of live band experience, 8 years of music composition, and 7 years of teaching guitar, I offer vast expertise and a large musical background for very affordable rates! My lessons are described by former/current students as being laid-back, detail-oriented, and very encouraging. My students range in age from 8 years old to adults in their 30's. You can always learn something new!

Most of my musical experience has entailed Rock, Indie-Rock, Blues, Acoustic, Bossa Nova, and Experimental/Contemporary. If students are looking to expand into a genre which I am not necessarily familiar with, I am always able to examine and learn the material myself in order to pass along to the student.

My students always decide the curriculum and pace which they would like their lessons to held at. I make sure to break the lesson down into simp
le, fundamental bullet points so that students do not find themselves lost or confused. Overall, my combination of friendly attitude and communication skills means that all my students get a lesson they enjoy, remember, and improve with.
