I throughly enjoy the various lesson readings (and the fact that she sends prep work ahead of time), the flexibility she offers for class scheduling, and her overall approach to teaching.

David is very knowledgeable and gave my daughter such great advice and direction to work with. He broke down each line of her scene and the motivation behind it and took the extra time with her to make sure she understood everything and was delivering it naturally and effectively. He even spent extra time with her and didn’t finish the lesson until she fully got everything down. Very professional, fun, friendly and genuine. We’re so grateful we found him and she and I both look forward to her next lesson with him! We very highly recommend him!!

Having earned Masters Degrees from The Shakespeare Theatre Company's Academy for Classical Acting at George Washington University, Alyssa was named as two of "DC's 12 Stage Dynamos."
Alyssa should be familiar to most Washington theatre-goers, having recently appeared in Ford's Theatre's production of the Tony-nominated Broadway hit, Come From Away. That same year, she received the Helen Hayes Award for Best Actress in a Play, for her portrayal of the iconic Maggie the Cat, in Round House Theatre's production of Cat on a Hot Tin Roof. In 2017/18, Alyssa will appear in The Kennedy Center's World Premiere production of Digging Up Dessa, as well as the US Premiere of Botticelli In the Fire, at Woolly Mammoth Theatre Company.
Most widely known for his portrayal of Ensign Baker in AMC's revolutionary war drama, TURN: Washington's Spies (available on Netflix), Thomas has been seen on HBO's VEEP, as well as CBS's Madam Secretary and Elementary. In the DC area, Thomas has recently ...
I have been a professional actor since 2003 and have been working and living in the DC area for the last 7 years. I have been a proud member of Actors Equity Association since 2009. I have coached privately for over a decade and specialize in audition preperation for both undergraduate and graduate submissions, as well as upcoming productions. I am also an accomplished voice over artist and can facilitate the creation of your very own demo reel. Named one of D.C. 12 acting dynamos to watch in 2017 by the Washington Post.
Alyssa is the best. I had a little less than a month to pick two contrasting monologues for an audition. Alyssa sent me a monologue that’s was absolutely amazing. Alyssa is patient, knowledgeable, and a ton of fun. Completely down to earth. (Judgment free zone). I would refer Alyssa to any and everybody. Amazing experience.

First session was basically a meet and greet, and I must say, she's got a pretty awesome personality as well as a very open and free flow vibe.

Alyssa is great. She has an in-depth knowledge of multiple teaching techniques that will help you improve as an actor. She is also extremely flexible and will tailor lessons to focus on what aspects of acting you wish to improve and what teaching methods help the most.
My approach to teaching and acting stem from a naturalistic approach and is sourced from various techniques. I guide students to find the joy in acting even in dramatic work. I am a longtime working professional actor and have been a Teaching Artist in NYC for well over a decade. I am a member of SAG-AFTRA and AEA, and can be seen on various Network and Cable shows as a Co and Guest Star. I like to tap into experiences that the student has had and help them develop their own ways to express and explore their emotions.
I worked professionally in film, on TV and on stage for years until I found representation. I discovered the joy in acting *and* auditioning and began to teach it through Acting Without an Agent™.
I am a working professional actor, who has been teaching since the 80's. I think that acting is acting. Once you have a solid foundation, the difference between stage or scene is minor. I like to help my students find the most natural and seamless way to a character by using the text and various exercises. I find teaching and acting to be a tremendous joy and I love sharing that delight.
I am frequently in NYC for work and auditions and can come to you if you are not in the Beacon, NY area.
In the past year, I have done Co and guest starring roles on the following TV shows: MURPHY BROWN; GOTHAM; MADAM SECRETARY; LUKE CAGE; ELEMENTARY; THE OTHER TWO; and the upcoming "THE LOUDEST VOICE" on Showtime, with Russell Crowe. I have been in many National and regional commercials. I have done theatre at such prestigious venues as Woolly Mammoth
, Dorset Theatre Festival (Winner of the "Best Actress" award for VALLEY SONG) , and The Public Theatre, to name a few.
I began working as a professional actor and got my auditions and booked work without representation. My Acting Without an Agent™ technique still gets me in the room and I would love to share that knowledge as well.

"Donia was a wonderful teacher! She helped teach me how to properly setup my acting resume and helped me find a photographer to take my headshots. She has
helped me become a better performer"
"He is i a great instructor and knows what he's doing, he is very flexible and has taught me a lot and given me many different opportunities, he has a lot
of experience in the business and is overall a pretty awesome teacher."
"I have been coached by acting instructors since I was a little kid and I've never worked with someone who had more understanding of the acting craft than
David Tom. I've never seen an acting coach simplistically break down technique for me to understand the way David did. I am so greatful he has shared his knowledge that must have taken years to master with me."
"She gets right down to it and tailors her lessons to your exact level and needs. She guides you to where you want to be. Just trust in Ollie! :)"
