I like to be super-customized with my lessons! If there's a pop song your student wants to learn, GREAT! If they're getting ready for an upcoming orchestra piece and are struggling with their part, let's work on that! I am super flexible, and just like my students to ENJOY their time working on music with me!

About Laurel
Hi!

I have been playing violin since 1st grade, and speaking Spanish since kindergarten!

I love kids and love sharing music and Spanish with others! I graduated from Indiana University in 2013! I minored in Spanish and Music! I have extensive Music Education experience and was the Music Director at a summer camp in Indiana! I play all styles, from fiddle to classical to country to jazz and improv violin and can teach any and all!

I have been speaking Spanish fluently since 2008, when I studied with IU Honors Program in Leon, Spain for 7 weeks of all Spanish! We took classes in Grammar, Literature, Culture, and Accent work, and I have been speaking consistently and fluently ever since!

Contact TakeLessons and we can set up a trial lesson for Violin, Music Theory, or Spanish!

Have an awesome day and thanks for viewing

Every lesson will be taught according to the student's needs. There will be the basic structure of improving upon technique and musicality but discovering a love of playing the violin will come first!

About Andrea
I am a recent graduate from SUNY Fredonia with a dual degree in Music Education and Violin Performance. I have taught about 10 students between ages 9-12 in my home studio. I have also worked at the Amadeus String shop individually teaching around a dozen beginner students in 2014.
Teaching music is something I absolutely love to do! I believe that creating and discovering music is a gift that everyone should be able to experience and it is never too late to start! Enjoying yourself is my number one goal, then making you the best musician you can be comes afterwards.
At Fredonia I have learned to become viola, cello, bass, and piano proficient so I could teach any student those instruments on a beginner-intermediate level.
I am also an avid performer and fiddler. I have played in my school's symphony orchestra, chamber orchestra, and
many chamber ensembles. I have also performed with the Northern-Dutchess Symphony Orchestra, the Orchard Park Symphony, the Warren Philharmonic, the Southern Tier Symphony, and the Woodstock Chamber Orchestra. These are only a few groups I have played with!

Andrea is one of those rare individuals with a zest for life that is contagious. Her lessons are fun, upbeat, and lesson time spent with her absolutely flies by. I learned a few fiddle tunes with her and loved every minute of it! As a performer she brings her charisma onto the stage with her and is an absolute joy to watch perform. I would highly recommend her to anyone who is in search of a teacher.

About Kyle
Hello potential students! I have a B.A. in instrumental music education and composition. I have taught private lessons for over 12 years. My specialties are piano, woodwinds, and music technology (i.e. recording and production).

Kyle is a great piano teacher! He is very patient with my 12-year old son. Just yesterday he referred to him as “fun Kyle” because he teaches him small songs on the side that he can show friends and family or are for upcoming holidays. He’s always punctual and respectful of our family and home. I’m grateful to have found him!

Kyle has given me contra bass, aka upright bass, weekly lessons from August 2015 through May 2016. I have never played a string instrument prior to this, although I do play piano and have played the flute, bagpipes, and piccolo over the years. I did not need education in reading music.

Kyle was able to take me from sounding like a lower octave version of Jack Benny (a mid-20th century comedian famous for his howlingly horrid violin playing) to a level where I know how to hold the instrument and the bow, the fingerings, bowing technique, and how to get a very respectable sound from the instrument.

He also installed the strings when I received the new instrument, found a manufacturing flaw in the bridge height that the manufacturer subsequently paid to repair, and diagnosed a resonance issue with the instrument that was corrected with a balance weight on the string below the bridge.

Lessons are tailored to fit each individual student's ability and goals. I believe in challenging students while maintaining a supportive and encouraging environment. Lessons will cover music theory, technique, and solo pieces. The goal is to develop in each student the specific skills needed to play a string instrument as well as to nurture an understanding and love for music.
Lessons take place at my apartment in Southeast Denver, near Hampden and I-25. Students are expected to prepare for and participate annual studio recitals.

About Kostadin
I was raised in a musical family in my home country of Bulgaria, where I attended a highly competitive full-time performing arts school from age 6. I was trained in the Russian school of violin playing and have found this to be a very successful method for my younger students in the United States. Another important pedagogical mentor for me is my viola teacher at Rice University, Ivo-Jan Van der Werff, who has developed a systematic approach to building technique fundamentals in advanced violists and violinists. I believe that studying music is very valuable for instilling self-motivation, discipline, and dedication for students of all ages. I was involved in the Mercury Orchestra's outreach partnership with YES Prep schools, which serve underprivileged communities in Houston. I was also a string specialist at the Village School in Housto
n, and my students there and in other public schools in the area excelled in the All-Region and All-State competitions.

I have been teaching violin since 2008. I have performed on movie soundtracks and was a guest soloist with Hamline University Orchestra. I am certified in Suzuki Method and also teach traditional lessons. I've worked with students age 4 to adult.

You are never too old to begin! I've worked with beginners of all ages.

Playing violin is about so much more than just classical music and scales! Although we love scales. Scales are how we show off how fast we can play. In addition to solid fundamentals of technique and musicality, I teach a broad range of styles including folk/fiddle, pop, and movie and video game scores. You'll get to learn the music that YOU want to play!

About Alex

I've been playing in symphonies for over a decade, have been principal violist and a featured soloist, and performed as a session player on movie scores. I've taught violin and viola since 2008 and worked with students ages 4 to adult. I am certified in the Suzuki Method and also teach what is sometimes referred to as "traditional lessons."

My daughter, Ada, was losing interest in her violin lessons and not making progress, so we signed her up to take lessons with Alex. This turned out to be the best decision that we could have made. Alex had excellent rapport with my daughter and was quickly finding important practice points for her to focus on. Even more important I was impressed with the multitude of solutions and exercises that Alex came up with to help my daughter get beyond her problem areas, and bad habits. On top of this, Ada was having fun, and was getting really motivated to practice. Alex’s attention to detail, excellent skill on the instrument, creativity with exercise ideas, and persistent yet friendly character were the perfect ingredients for a positive and productive music lesson experience. We would still be taking lessons with Alex if she still lived in our area for sure. (She is also an incredibly talented composer, which is a great thing for young musicians to learn about).

Alex is a truly gifted teacher. Teachers like her are rare especially when it comes to the arts. Not only does she make lessons fun but she also has the ability to put people at ease. Alex is also great at teaching those with learning differences. I Have extreme learning disabilities along with visual perceptual processing difficulties and thus have many blocks in place when it comes to learning things such as theory. No matter how long it takes me to understand something Alex is ever patient never giving up on me never getting frustrated with me. She has found many ways around many of the blocks that I have with theory. When I first began lessons with Alex I couldn't clap or count rhythm unless I had the main part. Since taking lessons with Alex I am now able to count rhythm better when I am not the main part. I would highly recommend Alex to anyone looking for a great teacher!

Hey there! My name is Carly. I recently graduated from the University of Maryland with a duel degree in Environmental Science and Sociology. I've played the violin since I was six years old. I've been apart of several groups ranging from classical, hip hop, rock and musical theater.
I'm looking to help less experienced string players find their voice through music. I may not be the concert master of the BSO, but I am incredibly passionate about teaching my students. I believe I differ from other teachers because I base my lessons around the student's preferred learning method and personal goals. My ultimate goal for my students is to teach them self expression. Self expression is healing, incredibly useful, and fuels us with energy and creative thought. I often try to incorporate pieces my students are interested in learning because I believe this is the key to regular (and enjoyable) practice.

Currently I have a wide array of students. The youngest is 8 whereas the oldest is 73. ...

About Carly
Hey there! Here's a little about the violin lessons that I teach.

For me, the absolute best thing about teaching violin is watching the student realize they've accomplished something they once struggled with. It's so fulfilling when my students are proud of the work they've put in. Becoming a violinist can be a lot like putting together a 2000 piece puzzle. It's really difficult at first, and there's a lot of different pieces you don't know where to put yet. Often times you just have to take a break, walk away, and come back to it later because you've been staring at it for way too long. You might leave feeling like you barely put any of it together, but don't fret, the next day is always easier! Eventually, pieces of the puzzle start to form into distinct parts of the picture, and you have a greater sense of intuition for where all th
e remaining pieces will go. The process itself gets easier down the road, because you've developed strategies and have spent so much time looking at your goal, i.e the finished picture on the box.
My role in this little analogy is to ensure you like the puzzle enough to keep going, give you hints on where to put pieces, and to show you the things you've put together that might have otherwise gone overlooked. All of which are easy for me to find simply because I, too, have done this puzzle before!
