I've been teaching trigonometry for twenty years and my students have gone from no knowlegde at all to grasp the basic. Within the first few lessons, you'll be able to understand the function of sine, cosine and tangent and as time goes on you'll be able to solve more complex problem about any type of triangle. I specialize in oblique triangle trigonometry, typically I use any book on trigonometry and have the following tools available for your lessons:Internet, cd's,calculator, and videos, . I love working with students of all ages and experience levels and I can't wait to meet you!
My mission is to teach you the way you can understand this new knowledge and apply it
30min increments: For =< 60mins lesson, you have to come near to my place; I will come to your place at >= 90mins.
When you need help in this area also, let me know. Trigonometry is more real and more practical than you think. Let me show you!
(IMPORTANT: Please do NOT book any lessons without confirming with me if we have a match in schedule. I have other obligations besides tutoring so if you do not have a flexible schedule, I recommend other tutors that will match your budget and schedule.)
I specialize in NYC Gifted & Talented Test, SHSAT, ACT and also TACHS/HSPT/COOP, SSAT/ISEE, Common Core, Regents, college/graduate admissions tests [i.e. SAT, GRE/GMAT]) and tutor a number of academic subjects in Mathematics (Algebra, Geometry, Trigonometry, Calculus, Linear Algebra), Statistics and Science (especially Physics). I have bachelor's and master's degrees in electronics engineering and business respectively and I enjoy tutoring both children and adults.
My interests also include gifted learning and STEM education. For example, I was successful in helping a 5-year old pass the NYC Gifted & Talented Test so he could enroll in any New York City school participating in the program.
Tutoring for yourself or for your son/daughter is both an investment in time and money for a future return so please also plan accordingl
y. Now, I make sure that I do not totally depend on tutoring for income so I can maintain a certain level of quality. In other words, when there is a match in objective, budget and schedule, I am quite happy to be part of someone's educational journey. I consider it indeed a very special privelege to be able to help a student because it is my experience that effective education can be life-changing. Finally, I am aware that other tutors may be in a better position to meet your existing situation so we have to accept that and move on.
Tutoring Rate (IMPORTANT): I only do in-person tutoring because I believe effective learning is multi-dimensional and personal not flat and distant. My rates for children and teens will in principle be at least the same as adults because I actually invest more time and effort since I have to consider the feedback of at least 2 individuals (student+guardian) compared with an adult student. Different arrangements possible on a case-by-case basis. Please see each subject rate for more details.
When I am not tutoring, I am involved in projects related to technology, hospitality and service industries. I also enjoy cooking especially when I can make an ordinary dish into something extra-ordinary by adding that little "extra."
I️ was connected to Rod through a tutoring agency. I️ contacted the agency because I️ recently graduated college and wanted to get into grad school but had not taken a math class since the 10th grade. The school I️ was applying to needed a minimum math score for the GRE, which I️ knew would be a enormous stretch for me. Additionally, I️ always had trouble with math and knew I️ would need a tutor to re-teach me everything I️ needed to know to get the score I️ wanted. Initially, the agency connected me to 3 different tutors who were all absolutely terrible! Sometimes they didn’t even know how to answer sample questions in the workbooks! Finally, I was connected to Rod. After our first meeting I️ knew he would be the one who would help me improve. After a month of intense work with him my GRE math scores actually improved a full 12 points! Beyond that, he literally taught me math in a way in which I️ actually understood it. Before I️ just thought I couldn’t learn, but now I’m confident that I️ actually retained everything and it even made sense! I’m so grateful to have met Rod because before him I️ truly felt hopeless. I️ would definitely recommend Rod to anyone who is looking to drastically improve their math skills. If you’re like me and hate math, can’t grasp it, and even feel like you just can’t learn it, then definitely contact Rod now! You won’t be sorry!

I initially reached out to Rod for Algebra 1 review because I felt that my daughter lacked a solid foundation in algebra. However, after a couple of sessions, we have decided to switch gears toward geometry with Rod’s recommendation. Throughout the geometry lessons, algebra practice was incorporated. I am happy that not only did Rod tailor his lessons to my daughter’s goals but also he gave her a lot of encouragement. My daughter found it extremely helpful that she got to explain and discuss with Rod, which made lessons interactive and real learning. Now going back to school, my daughter feels confident, thanks to Rod!

Rod worked with my daughter weekly for a couple of months leading up to the NYC state tests. With Rod's careful, concerted planning and diligence, my daughter's score went from 2.4 on the 7th grade Math state test, to a 2.8 in 8th grade, which equates to a move from below the 50th percentile, to between the 50th and 75th percentile. My daughter's in-school math instruction was chaotic and disjointed, and I attribute her improvement to Rod's intervention.
I have worked with students to discover the strength of Trigonometry. We have targeted the trigonometric ratios of sine, cosine and tangent together with their periodic graphs in preparation for Calculus.I have helped undergraduate Engineering and business students including Florida Technical University and CAL POLY SLO to show them how success in trigonometry simplifies their math experience particularly in Calculus and beyond.
My name is Paul. I have strong backgrounds in Math and Architecture.I completed 2 and 1/2 years of Architecture at the Los Angeles Institute of Architecture and Design in Fall 2004. In Spring 2
004 I was the recipient of a student competition award from the American Institute of Architects at the A-D Museum in West Hollywood. I enrolled at California State Polytechnic University, Pomona-CAL POLY- to complete Majors in Architecture and MATH; and received the Don Leiffer award for excellence in Math at West LA College(spring 2005).
My professional architecture internships(TFA,K-RML,AJLA)Sports background and interactions with my nephews and nieces allowed me to use visual and Verbal ques in lessons.Math and Physics can be fun for you.
I would love to strengthen ALL math and skill levels of your high schooler! I am currently tutoring a number of high schoolers and have seen a huge boost in their confidence and abilities and would love to work with yours. In addition to reinforcing the fundamentals, and dissecting advanced material so it is more easily understood, I plan to initially is to examine their thought process, and then deconstruct their approach so it becomes more systematic and methodical.
I had a near perfect SAT math score (780 when it was scored out of 800) and also attended UPenn. But most importantly I can get him/her to raise her math score! My general strategy is to identify the type of question (Alg, Trig, Geometry etc) s/he struggles with and to examine hish/er thought process tackling these questions. I have also counseled students and parents on college admissions process since I was a counselor for UPenn undergrads for graduate school admissions.
I excelled in math and often ...
Welcome students and parents: You may not know it yet, but stumbling upon my page may change your life for the better. With me, your immersion into the world of science and education may open up opportunities that may alter your children's future path.
I have tutored students at the junior/high school, and college levels. As a teaching assistance for undergraduates at the Ivy league, the Univ of Pennsylvania, I teach pupils to dissect problems and challenges into manageable components. This was my stepping stone into a professorial role. I am originally from NYC, and attended Stuyvesant, so I also help tutor students with the SSAT and SHSAT. Knowledge and understanding alone does not make a good educator, it is the ability to transmit such skills which is remarkable.
I have a Master's of Science of Biochemical Engineering from the
University of Pennsylvania, and a Bachelor's of Science in biomedical sciences from King's College, University of London.
Craig's teaching is quite impressive. I'm a math teacher myself, but when I caught moments of him teaching my daughter struggling in algebra 2, I thought his approach was better! His instruction is excellent and she is now doiing great in Algebra 2.

Craig has greatly helped my daughter struggling in chemistry! She now consistently achieves in the 90's. Without him, she would not have found an appreciation for chemistry and has now decided to sign up for AP Chem. His explanations are clear and easy to understand.

Craig is a marvelous tutor. For my twins, he brought up their MATH SAT 130 and 150 points respectively. With my middle schooler he has helped bring up her SSAT to the 94% (percentile) getting her into our top choice. He is thorough and meticulous tutor teaching them how to find and fix their own mistakes.
Students will learn the concepts and apply them through a lot of practice problems. Through the practice, students will have a full knowledge of the concept(s).
I teach/tutor a myriad of topics and love doing it. I'm currently attending the Georgia Institute of Technology, studying aerospace engineering and Russian. I love science and math (particularly when it has to do with space stuff). I'm super outgoing and a very laid back, chill person all at the same time (being like this has produced quite the stories).
Working with others and helping them succeed has been something I've loved to do for a while now. While I was in high school, I was a coach for one of the local swim teams and had a blast getting to teach people how to swim and such, and the best part was getting to connect with those kids and seeing them succeed during the swim meets.
Once I graduated, I had the privilege to serve as a full time volunteer in Brazil for a couple years, where my sole focus, every day, was to help o
thers to improve the quality of their life. In doing so, I had the wonderful opportunity to meet new people everyday and see people's lives drastically improve. Another cool part of this experience was that I got to teach English as a second language to people who'd never spoken it before. They loved it, and in the time that I did teach it, students went from speaking no English to being able to form basic sentences and have simple conversations.
Now in college, I've strived to continue this pattern with the little free time that I get during the week and on the weekends due to my classes. Throughout all of this, I've discovered how easy it is for me to connect with people and how much fun it can be.
What I bring to the lessons: I always ensure to provide the highest quality lessons and ensure that the student easily understands the materials. I'll provide materials that I know will assist the student to master the concepts.
My expectations: Learning requires the student to put in effort. Any assignments I give, I will expect them to be completed. I understand that sometimes one of "those weeks" comes around where life hits us in the face, but it's not every week.
Your expectations: You've come to me obviously to learn something new, and I intend to go above and beyond those expectations.
I wrote 5 star review (would give more if could) But showing as 4 stars... not sure why. So writing another one! But I can't say enough great things about Andrew. After 1 tutoring session my son had so many "ah ha" moments. I am so thankful and full of joy. My son is actually "getting it" and may even see how math could be fun...lol.

Andrew was amazing with my 15 yr old son. I am full of joy! My son had so many 'ah ha' moments and actually starting to see math (trig) can be fun. Andrew is an amazing tutor and my son felt so comfortable working with him. I am so thankful and will definitely continue tutoring lessons. Thank you, thank you, thank you!
Trigonometry is one of my favorite area of studies in math; I've far surpassed its level of difficulty and yet its real world applications still amaze me. Other than calculus, trigonometry was the most fun to learn in my experience. What makes my lessons in trigonometry so powerful is that I understand where most students struggle because I was one of them first being introduced to the subject. My lessons will cover how to interpret the six trigonometric functions properly, what strategies to use when graph trigonometric functions, solving trig identities as well as deriving all of the Pythagorean identities starting from Pythagorean's Theorem, working with The Law of Sines and Law of Cosines, and understanding complex numbers as well as polar coordinates. Feel free to send me any questions you may have, I am here for your success!
Hi my name is Corey, I'm currently a full-time student in the Bay Area. I'm pursuing a degree in Computer Science and I'm a huge nerd when it comes to math and other subjects of science. I have a strong passion for helping other students just like myself excel in their academic goals!
I began tutoring once I got back in school. At first, it started off as a little side gig I didn't I think much of; for me, it was a fun act of kindness that also gave me a chance to better understand material I already knew. It was after I got positive feedback from students when I realized tutoring is something I really enjoy and started taking far more seriously.
As a tutor the most effective approach I found is to first make sure my students have a firm grasp on the first principles involved and expand from there by taking a deeper dive into the
abstract of the concept at hand. I always teach in general notation along with a visual basis as this greatly helps my students better understand the concepts they're learning. From here I transition into individual and situational cases giving my student a chance to show me how well they are understanding the lesson.
The goal I set for myself as a tutor is to be sure that my students understand every topic covered on the same level that I understand it myself. So far in my approach this has shown to be the best method in achieving this goal. Most of the students I've worked with were on the verge of failing their classes and in fact these are the student I like to focus on because it gives me the opportunity to show that my approach to learning works, with everyone of my students finishing out their semester nothing short of a B.
If you're interested in taking one of my lessons and think my approach to learning is something that will work for you, please contact me and let's get that A this semester!
Corey has been the best tutor I've learned from! I started taking lessons with him about half way through a semester that I was taking trig. At this time I had a D in the class and was completely lost during lectures, just after two lessons with him my understanding in trig sky rocketed, I was able to move my grade from a D to a B! There's no way I could've done this without his help!
"Had a good experience with Daniel who helped me learn basic computer and cell phone skills and I look forward to future lessons."
"Akib was an amazing tutor! He was so knowledgeable, patient, and easy to get a hold of. He was very accommodating with my schedule. We met on twice weekly
basis and his constant encouragement, wisdom, and supplemental resources helped me to get the grade I was striving for! He went above and beyond to help me survive Trig and I can't thank him enough. I would recommend him in a heartbeat. You'll be in very good hands!"

"My son had one session so far and thought Daniel was very personable and knowledgeable. He really helped him understand and feel comfortable solving trigo
nometry problems. We set up additional times for tutoring."
"Md is an excellent tutor. He is patient. He focused on the concept and explained clear step by step in the session. I understand the method and constructo
r for Trigonometry much better after our session. Thank you for help. Highly recommended."
