Whether singing is your chosen career or just a treasured hobby, my goal is to help you succeed! I offer voice lessons to students of all backgrounds, ages and a variety of styles. I take a healthy, classical vocal approach to encourage freedom, ease and power in the voice. A student of Bel Canto, Alexander Technique and Yoga, I incorporate a full body approach to singing. My students range from amateurs to Broadway talent. I have prepared students to perform on stage, book agents, and to be featured in television and film. My younger students have been accepted into top performing arts programs such as The Professional Performing Arts School, Interlochen Center for the Arts and various conservatory programs.

Lessons are tailored to each individual student but generally begin with a breathing and vocal warm-up, followed by some technical exercises and finishing with a piece of music or several of their choosing. That being said, the lesson can be focused on whatever is ...

About Rebecca
**Whether you are seasoned performer or a an absolute beginner I want to help you reach your vocal potential!**

I have been running my own private studio for over a decade. Watching my students improve and make strides in their musical careers and reaching their personal goals is so fulfilling. I fell in love with teaching music while a student myself at the University of Michigan, where I received Masters of Music and a Bachelors of Music degrees with honors in voice performance. While there, I began my private vocal studio and study of vocal pedagogy. Since graduation, I have maintained a professional private studio in New York, while pursuing a performing career in classical, musical theater and new music. My younger students have gone on to programs such as the Professional Performing Arts School, the Interlochen Arts Academy and
various conservatory and college programs. My professional students have performed at such venues as New York City Opera, Radio City, in Film and Television and on National Tours. I love what I do and find it fulfilling to give my students the tools that they need to succeed and watch them achieve their goals.

I have performed in both the US and internationally on a professional level. As a performer I am comfortable in a range of repertoire: Musical Theater, Jazz, Opera, Pop, Folk and other genres. As a teacher, I find that my own experiences in performing inform and help guide my teaching style. In addition to teaching and performing in operas, concerts and musicals, I perform on behalf of an outreach organization called Concerts Motion, bringing live performances to audiences who are hospitalized, isolated or in need. I have also served as a Cantorial Soloist at Shaaray Tefila of Bedford, New York and the New York Area.

In addition to my more advanced and adult students, I have a passion for teaching children. I began working with younger students as an instructor at the Cranbrook Theater School. While there I taught lessons and group workshops on singing, acting and general performance to students ages 5 through high school. Since then I have worked with young students on a regular basis in both private lessons and working with music outreach programs in New York schools. In addition to building musical skills, I find that performing and studying music gives children a sense of accomplishment and confidence in their lives.

Teaching Emphasis

*Musicality
*Breath Control
*Healthy Vocal Technique
*Wide dynamic and vocal range
*Performance Practices
*Song Selection
*Children's Lessons
*Lessons to Improve Public Speaking and Speech

My approach to vocal instruction encourages a healthy technique bringing freedom throughout the entire body. I teach a variety of ages and singing levels. I look forward to working with you!

*** Lesson Details ***
The style and pace of my lessons are tailored to each individual student. I bring structure to the lessons, but work at the speed that is comfortable for you. It is my ultimate goal to give you the tools and the confidence to learn and perform music on your own. Most importantly we make the most of our time together for whichever length of lesson you choose.

Each lesson generally starts with a physical and vocal warm up. This is followed by vocal exercises (arpeggios, scales, and various other exercises that will develop flexibility and also breath control in the voice, as well as expanding the vocal range). The last part of the lesson will most often focus on a song or piece of music as we incorporate the technical and artistic elements we have worked on thus far.

Expectations:

Depending on the level of the student we will begin with the basics: pitch matching, simple vocal exercises, and standard songs. After a few months of lessons students should expect to have the skills to move on to more difficult vocalizes and advanced songs. All that we do in our lessons will have an emphasis on singing in the most healthy way for your voice.

We will work on intonation, rhythm, style, diction and projection. We will also do audition and performance preparation. I will give the you exercises to take home and work on between lessons.

We will have fun and learn a lot in the comfortable and energetic setting that I create!

*** Studio Equipment ***
Private in-home studio: Separate studio with electric piano, music stand, several chairs, music books, mirrors, speakers and open space for us to work in!

There is a separate living room/waiting room where parents/caretakers are welcomed to wait while their student is in their lesson. Parents/caretakers are also welcomed to sit in on all or part of lesson in the studio.

*** Travel Equipment ***
I will bring music repertoire books that we might be using. I would expect them to have a keyboard or piano.

*** Specialties ***
I am classically trained, but have studied pedagogy pertaining to many different types of singing. I work with many singers of Opera and Musical Theater. I also have a lot of experience working with singers who are in bands and play instruments (guitar, bass, drums, ukulele, keyboards) while they are singing. I find this provides an entirely new set of challenges for the singer and feel that I have found efficient and successful ways of negotiating this. I also teach students of jazz and folk music and work with singer-songwriters on getting the best of themselves on their original pieces.

Rebecca is a wonderful vocal teacher with an incredibly warm personality that puts me at ease at encourages me to enjoy the practice of singing. During lessons, she explains each exercise very clearly and always knows the right advice to give when I am having trouble grasping a concept. She always inspires me to work hard to reach my own goals and her dedication to our lessons together has already led to amazing leaps in progress in my voice. I would absolutely recommend her for students of any level of training; you will very quickly notice the progress in your own voice while enjoying the art of singing.

If you can talk, you can sing! And even if you can't talk - there may be hope still! Singing should always be a rewarding experience for the singer. The freer the voice is, the better the singing feels, and the more we can express ourselves through singing. But how do we find vocal freedom? Self-knowledge, technique, practice habits, and attitude, for starters…

I can help you with any style of music you want to sing. Popular music, musical theater, jazz, opera...

Some of the areas of singing we'll work on are
- relaxation
- body awareness
- breathing
- resonance
- articulation
- intonation
- rhythm
- style
- stagecraft
- basic music theory
- ear training

We'll use exercises from my background in general music and studies of the "Italian School" of classical singing. We'll also draw from the Feldenkrais Method, yoga, acting and theater techniques, and what I've learned as a certified Music Together teacher. These all make for a healthy foundation, and give you the ...

About Briana
My teaching style is student-centric and organic. I draw from a wide-ranging toolbox of techniques to find the approach that will work for you. What is most enjoyable and interesting for you usually points to the most efficient and effective path for learning, because your nervous system thrives and builds best when you feel open and engaged.

As a teacher, I draw on my professional experience as an actor and singer, my teaching background in myriad subjects (Feldenkrais, Music Together, general music, theatre, yoga, fitness, literature, etc.), and my eclectic training in acting, classical voice, musical theatre, various methods of body work, and healing.

I strive to create a working environment where students feel safe to take risks, learn to challenge themselves, and find increased joy and freedom in expression. Self-awareness/body
-awareness, relaxation, and nurturing of individuality are emphasized above all.

Though I have a long background in performing arts and performing arts education, my teaching philosophies and techniques draw primarily from my study of movement and mindfulness through disciplines such as yoga, and especially the Feldenkrais Method, "a remarkable approach to human movement, learning and change... based on sound principles of physics, neurology and physiology, and the conditions under which the nervous system learns best." (The Feldenkrais Institute, NY, NY, 2013).

Training/experience:

- Feldenkrais Awareness Through Movement Teacher
- Feldenkrais Practitioner Training Program certification in process
- Bachelor of Music, Highest Honors, SUNY Binghamton
- Professional singing in the US and Europe
- Professional acting throughout the US, theater and film (member of SAG-AFTRA and AEA)
- 100+ hours of YA approved yoga teacher training
- Eclectic studies in voice and body work (Linklater, Sound Healing, various dance styles, Kinetic Awareness, Tai Chi, Beijing Opera techniques)
- Kids/family music teacher certified by Music Together (an amazing, international, research-based program)
- Teaching artist (opera, chorus, musical theater, acting/improv, mindfulness) at schools around NYC - Bronx High School for Law and Finanace, PS 129, Yorkville East MS, Baruch MS, Anderson MS, PS 3
- Former fitness instructor

Finding mastery in practices of music, acting, and mindfulness have core similarities - when you find your flow, it feels like flying. But we have to start from the ground up. The stronger the foundation, the higher you fly. Let's get started!

Notes on teaching locations:

- HOME STUDIO: For a number of reasons, I prefer to teach at my home studio whenever possible. I have two friendly cats - hope you aren't allergic!

- ONLINE: For some students, online lessons are very effective, but for others, it is imperative to meet in person. So if you would like to try online lessons, please message me first to discuss,

Peace,
Briana

There is something special that music does to the soul. Singing expresses the emotions that are trapped in our hearts. My goal is to tap inside singers natural voices and pull out what is already inside. I teach voice techniques, pitch and rhythm as well as help the singer find their voice that is hidden.

About Monika
When music is done right,it transcends language and words. That is one of my favorite quotes. Being able to express yourself through singing is like a religious experience if done right. My passion for music goes beyond the technical aspect, but rather the personal experience, and the personal connection. It is like taking listeners on a journey without visuals but just a melody. That is what I try to instill in my students.

I have a background in opera and gospel singing. I have a degree in music. I also taught children's choir at a public school as well at a church. My goal is to teach students how to maintain and strengthen their voices metaphorically and physically. I have a set lesson plan for students that are offered weekly to students that will help with pitch, rhythm and breathing. Along with the weekly lessons, I teach basi
c music theory as well as some music history to students. Students will learn songs from a set list of songs and will work on their own songs.

I have been teaching people how to sing for the past 13 years, and in that time I have seen my students grown and flourish. My background is in classical voice, however my singing career taken me from the opera stage, to musical theater and even to rock and world music.

I work hard to give my students a solid and real understanding of how their voice works, and what they need to do to make it better.

Many students who started with me while in High School have gone on to attend of some of the most prestigious schools in the country including The Julliard School, Indiana School of Music, Carnegie Mellon, New England Conservatory, Manhattan School of Music and Peabody. My focus in lessons is on healthy vocal production with an emphasis on physiology. Because singing is very technical I want my students to feel comfortable in their understanding of their instrument. In this way, during performance situations they are able to let their musicality and acting shine without being hindered by vocal difficulty. Depending on the students need diction, music theory, and sight singing will be addressed.

About Natalie
Natalie E is a soprano based in New York City with experience singing in houses across the country. Natalie was educated in voice performance at the College-Conservatory of Music (CCM) where she received her BM in 2011 and MM in 2013. Natalie has placed in competitions such as the Peter Elvins Vocal Competition, the Brookline Music School Vocal Competition, the Baur Scholarship Competition, the Corbett Opera Scholarship Competition, and the New York Lyric Opera Theater National Vocal Competition.

Natalie 's focus in lessons is on both healthful and beautiful vocal production as well as musicality. Depending on student's needs sight singing, music theory, IPA and diction will be addressed. Audition and competition prep as well as recital opportunities are also available.

I teach all styles of voice, including musical theater, pop, classical, and opera. I believe that breathing is the most integral part of singing, and I bring to each lesson the understanding that the voice is a muscle that needs to be patiently trained, much like you would do a physical workout in a gym. Typically, I begin lessons with warm-ups tailored to each student’s skill level and goals. Then, we work on pieces related to the student’s interest, generally including one classical piece and one contemporary piece, analyzing the similarities between these styles and applying the same skills to both. Students can expect to see improvement in their projection, style, diction, musicality, and performance practice. My students enjoy our lessons together because they leave each lesson with a clearer direction that they can apply to the songs they desire to sing.

About Ross
I am an opera singer and private music instructor in New York City.

I cater my lessons to my students’ individual goals, firmly believing that a strong framework in classical technique can support any style of music. I love watching my students become passionate about music, achieve their goals, and reach their greatest potential as musicians. Using my experience and flexibility, I create a learning environment that is both engaging and fun.

I developed a passion for music at a young age and have been studying piano for 18 years. I received my BA in Language and Culture with a double minor in Vocal/Opera Performance and Italian, as well as my MA in Vocal Performance. While earning my MA, I coached voice, piano, and language diction to the undergraduate and masters students.

Since then, I have been actively singing in the city with var
ious opera companies as well as doing concert work. I also teach piano and voice to students of all ages, both privately and at Trevor Day School.

Coaching Vocal and/or Scenic; Learning how to accompany yourself with an instrument while singing; Ear training (Rhythmic and harmonic); controlling your stress, anxiety and working on your confidence and self estime.

If you have a piece to prepare for a concert, competition, audition, or just for yourself, we will learn to "know" your voice, work the "raw" voice (without effects) through various exercises, then learn to control the effects you could use, as well as feeling good on stage, in front of an audience or just a few people.

About Pia
I am a professional harpist/singer, composer and arranger raised in Belgium.
I graduated from the Music Academy International (Nancy) in voice and from Berklee College of Music (Boston) in harp where I performed in many different settings and styles of music (Jazz, Pop, Mediterranean music, Middle Eastern music, Latin music,...). I was also part of "The Voice" France in 2012 where I made it to the top 20. Additionally, I traveled a lot and performed in many different festivals around the world where I also gave master classes about the Harp Jazz & Modern Harp.

I had been classically trained as a harpist for 10 years and have dedicated 10 other years of my life to "evolving" the function of the harp in music. I incorporate the harp in various styles of music outside of the classical tradition. I perform original compositions and covers th
at feature the harp in different settings and styles of music.

I teach harp students of all different ages and experience levels.
With beginners, we will start, of course, by learning the foundation of the technique as well as developing the ear and the rhythm. We will start learning different styles of music using excellent and very fun exercices and tunes.
With more advanced harpists, we will be able to explore different styles of music more deeply, develop the rhythm on the harp, improvise, learn different jazz standards, try arrangements of known pieces (you can request anything you like), and even include singing if you wish :)

I love to teach the harp "differently" to open more horizons.
I love to teach while having fun! I always listen to the individual needs of my students and try to create the best environment for them. I want them to feel confortable and therefore be ready to learn and share in the best conditions.

Miss Salvia has deeply studied several types of harps and different traditions and techniques from around the world. I love working with all age groups! I have been performing Broadway, old standards, and jazz in addition to sacred music since I was sixteen. While I advocate healthy and traditional vocal technique, I am extremely flexible to student repertoire choices and have taught pop tunes such as Bohemian Rhapsody to full choir with much success. My focus is to strengthen student ears so that they may eventually become their own teacher.

I specialize in sharpening and enhancing vocal breaks and range of extensions. As well as coaching my clients to over come performance anxiety with breathing techniques also used to add resonance and power to their voice.

If you are a dancer, I work specifically with assisting in nailing a "singe
rs call". I am full of repertoire and can recommend songs specifically for your voice to help build your book.
