Learn to play classical guitar using efficient left and right hand technique as well as posture and guitar support in a comfortable manner that avoids stress or damage to the body.
You will learn to read and play music on the classical nylon string guitar while working toward playing the standard classical repertoire.
Learning an instrument teaches focus and goal setting strategies, develops self-direction and self-esteem, plus the added benefit of developing the brain for academic achievement.
And, it's just plain FUN!!
I specialize in teaching music and guitar to children ages 7 through 18 including college prep for auditions. I hold a music degree from Montclair State University and have over 12 years of teaching experience.
Your child will learn how to read music, play melody and chords and progressively acquire skills as a musician and guitarist. Music theory, ear training and rhythm study are included.
This is perfect for home schooled children or as a supplement to public or private school music programs.
I specialize in acoustic guitar - both classical and contemporary, steel string and nylon.
I have been a musician for o
ver 25 years. In addition to guitar, I'm a vocalist, composer and arranger as well as a music publisher. I actively perform as both a classical guitarist and singer-songwriter.
PLEASE SPEAK TO ME before purchasing your child's instrument. A standard size steel string guitar can be difficult to handle and may discourage your child.

Cheryl is a great teacher. She loves music and that enthusiasm is inspiring.
I am looking forward to many lessons
ahead and advancing my playing skills.
I have studied music for 26 years. Piano was my first instrument and I have taken classical lessons from an early age and studied jazz piano for 14 years. I play guitar at the same level as piano. I play jazz, classical, flamenco and rock guitar; acoustic, electric and 9-string electric. I have studied at University of North Texas, Musicians institute and have a bachelor's of music from UNM. I have a certification in early childhood education and love to teach children, as well as adults of all ages.
*** Lesson Details *** I am very patient and flexible. I work with the student to design curriculum that is exciting and engaging for their individual level. Students enjoy studying with me because they can progress quickly if they practice and because I am easy to talk to and work with.
*** Studio Equipment *** The In-Studio
lessons are taught in the music room in the home which includes an 88 key weighted keyboard, 5 guitars, 3 amps
*** Travel Equipment *** If I go to their house, I expect them to have their own instruments that they practice on during the week, a metronome, a tuner and the music books they are working on.
*** Specialties *** I specialize in jazz, rock and classical music. I usually allow the students or their parents to choose their method books based on their interests and goals.
He has taught me a lot. Lessons are not rushed. He allows me to learn based on my own interests, but also teaches a lot of basics of technique and music theory. The location is convenient to downtown Albuquerque and UNM neighborhood.

Chris is easy to learn with, and knowledgeable. Is always patient and never makes you feel rushed, yet, makes sure you are constantly improving. He directs your playing in the style and direction you want to reach while exposing you to new styles along the way. Great teacher.
I received the highest awarded scholarship to MTSU for classical guitar studies. I have studied with John Pell, Bill Yelverton, Stanley Yates and Mario DaSilva
I am a Nashville session musician, sideman and music teacher. I received a Bachelor of Music degree in Commercial Music with a Composition and Arranging Emphasis from Belmont University. Coming from a family of Classical and Jazz musicians, I have been exposed to music my whole life. Over the years I have had the opportunity to play and record with many great bands and artists ranging from Country/Bluegrass to Rock to Jazz. I teach all genres of guitar, bass, banjo ukulele and mandolin.
*** Lesson Details *** I believe the ability to play an instrument is only part of musicianship. I also strive to teach my students the theory behind the music they learn. I work hard to make sure that my students are doing everything in the easiest way possible. I want to ensure that they are able to progress quickly enough so that they can see t
he difference. The most rewarding moment as a teacher is when a student points out how hard something once was and how easy it has become.
*** Studio Equipment *** Music store environment. No pets.
*** Travel Equipment *** I travel with all teaching equipment needed but a music stand is recommended for the lessons and for practicing.
*** Specialties *** I am a very versatile teacher and player but I am often recommended based on my knowledge of Gypsy Jazz, Swing, bluegrass, country and rock teaching acoustic guitar, electric guitar, banjo, mandolin and ukulele

Zander is extremely knowledgable and has the ability to communicate that knowledge in an easy tower and way. Great teacher!
June 20, 2016
I am a first time stringed instrument student. Zander has a talent for structuring lessons to make me 'work' to see progress. He is patient and answers my questions in a manner that make sense. I'm fortunate to have connected with him. Given his multi instrument proficiency and obvious knowledge base I can't help but recommend his teaching skills.
Classical guitar is warm, rich, and beautifully complex. It is a self-contained artform which needs no accompaniment. Classical guitar music is instantly gratifying, even at the beginner level. To unlock your highest potential, I'll help you learn proper picking as well as fret hand technique, sight reading, music theory, and fretboard logic. We will also study and learn chord voicings, voice leading, ear training, and sight-singing.
My teaching style is friendly, patient, and inclusive. I believe in a well rounded teaching approach through reading, as well as learning to play by ear. I prefer to use these books for reading and developing good technique:

I've been going to Jason for a few months now and I have significantly improved my playing ability and increased my music knowledge. Lessons are tailored to what I want to learn and there has been noticeable improvement even over a short period of time.

He is really patient and kind, and he got playing songs in days.
March 19, 2018
Jason tailors the course to a student's individual learning pace and needs. There is also a good combination between theory and learning cords to play a song. Technique is emphasized to build good habits and a foundation for future growth.
Rich taught my daughter. I was so impressed with his teaching that I started to take lessons with him as well. He is a great instructor with plenty of ideas on how to improve your play while providing a no stress environment. Rich gives lessons on everthing from Hamiltom to AC/DC. I started lessons with Bill to learn classical guitar after 5 years of self-taught electric and steel string acoustic playing. My playing has improved immensely since I started working with him. Not only has he introduced me to classical guitar but he has taught me how to effectively practice to constantly improve. Bill has a wealth of experience and knowledge to draw upon and I cannot say enough good things. A++
December 21, 2017
I have been a classical guitar student of Bill's for the past 6 months. In retirement, I have decided to take what was an "off and on" affair with the classical guitar (I'm not a beginner) and, instead, commit the necessary time and energy to truly learning the instrument. These have been my first serious classical guitar lessons. Prior to these lessons, I was entirely "self-taught" which means I created a whole bunch of bad habits for myself and was not progressing at all. Bill refers to me as a "remedial" student which I think is a perfect description of my playing. Through Bill, I have learned proper technique which, in turn, has improved my tonality and musicality with the classical guitar. Bill has identified my bad habits, broken them down, shown the proper way to overcome them and makes sure I don't "back-slide" into my bad habits again. Bill paces the lessons according to ability, not covering material that's too advanced while still ensuring that the lesson is challenging. In each lesson, Bill is positive, encouraging yet kindly critical so that I know I am making progress yet always aware of what areas I need to work on. Bill has the right "make-up" for a teacher and I am pleased, and without reservation, to give Bill a 5 star rating.

I have been a student of Bill's for almost three years. Bill's teaching is characterized by clarity of expression, high standards, patience and an upbeat and pleasant disposition. He is always clear and direct when explaining the technical aspects of playing- no matter how complex the matter at hand. He holds you (and himself) to a high standard- no shortcuts- you learn to do it right. Yet he is so pleasant to be with that every minute of every lesson is truly enjoyable. Every time I leave I am ready to practice and can't wait to return.
I have been fortunate enough to study with many great classical guitarists since I started playing the guitar. My first instructor was a student of Andres Segovia, the father of classical guitar! I also studied with great classical guitarists while earning my degree at USC. I took years of lessons with both Adam del Monte and James Smith, and I am always glad to share everything I learned on to the next classical guitarist!
I have a deep passion for music making and music education. I take pride in watching my students progress, develop and excel. I have helped all level of students, from early beginners getting over the beginner lessons hump, to students preparing to enter college and hobbyists or professionals trying to sharpen their skills. I am proud of the work that I have done and love to share my knowledge and experience with others!
Hello! I’ve been playing guitar for over half my life and teaching for five years now. My love for music has played a huge role in my life, and I love sharing this passion with my students. Whether you are wanting to learn how to perform, compose music, or play your favorite song, I promise to help you achieve your goal. I’ve taught a variety of ages, and I truly believe it's never too early or late to learn an instrument. Every student is unique in what they are wanting to learn, so I promise to structure each student’s lessons to fit their individual goals and interests. It's also very important to me that my students enjoy each and every lesson, so the student is in complete control of their learning.
Hello! I’ve been playing guitar for over half my life and teaching for five years now. I first began learning guitar at a young age, and my passion for music has grown ever since.
My musical education began with guitar and music theory lessons when I was ten years old and continued until I graduated high school. These lessons included songwriting, music theory, and many other topics related to guitar. I also learned a variety of musical genres, including classic rock, acoustic, pop, country, and a bunch more. Being exposed to such a wide range of artists and genres was an incredible experience because it allowed me to learn numerous techniques and musical arrangements. This is also where I fell in love with artists like John Mayer, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Jimi Hendrix, and Eric Clapton. These influential artists played a huge role in sh
aping my guitar playing, songwriting, and technique. This also led to me joining a singer-songwriter trio called Two Beards and a Boy where I was the lead guitarist. We currently perform at city events, fundraisers, and numerous restaurants in the DFW area.
In middle school, I became the lead electric guitarist in my church’s band. I have also lead the worship service on multiple occasions and subbed in at different instruments as needed. I also began taking private vocal performance lessons where I learned how to read music, sight read, and other musical skills. I continued taking these lessons in high school, where I was involved in multiple nationally ranked choirs and performed at Carnegie Hall in 2016. Being involved in my high school's varsity choir not only honed my overall musical abilities but led to opportunities accompanying the choir as a guitarist.
My love for music has played a huge role in my life, and I love sharing this passion with my students. Nothing beats the excitement of a student as they’re able to play their first song. Whether you are wanting to learn how to perform, compose music, or play your favorite song, I promise to help you achieve your goal.
I began giving guitar and music theory lessons in high school. I’ve taught a variety of ages, and I truly believe it's never too early or late to learn an instrument. Every student is unique in what they are wanting to learn, so I promise to structure each student’s lessons to fit their individual goals and interests. Also, it's very important to me that my students enjoy each and every lesson, so the student is in complete control of their learning. I have been working with children and youth for many years through the Upward Sports program, and I love building connections with all of my students to create a comfortable and fun learning environment.
As a college student at UT, I am very flexible with scheduling, so feel free to contact me about available times for lessons. I hope to hear from you soon, and please let me know if you have any questions!
Daniel was the most helpful teacher that I've ever had! He is extremely talented and was so prepared for every lesson. Even when I ran into error he was patient and helped me figure out what to do better next time. I recommend!

Daniel is a great teacher and an even better person. If you are looking for a musical instructor for your child that can also be a role model then Daniel Powell is it. Great knowledge of the guitar. Good attitude with the kids he teaches. Very patient. Highly recommended

Daniel is an amazing guitar player, as well as a great young man! He will be an incredible teacher to any student as well as a role model.
"Pretty cool! As impatient as I am, Jesse is pretty good at letting me know about improvements and how to play and still makes it a relaxed environment.
SO much better than learning when i was a kid in public schools with instructors on a "lesson plan"."
"This is my 4th time taking guitar lessons and the first time I have ever truly enjoyed the process (and my progress shows it). Joe is amazing at identifyi
ng the individual strengths and interests of his students and uses that to create a totally customized learning plan. Bonus, he’s also one of the nicest people you’ll meet. If you want a truly supportive, patient and enthusiastic mentor on this amazing journey, look no further!"
"Joseph is a very knowledgeable and friendly teacher. He is organized and carefully plans for each lesson. My playing techniques improved a lot since I sta
rted working with him. He helped me better understand the music I play and think of beyond the technique and hitting the right notes. Thus, I became more expressive and musical player."
"My son has taken guitar lesson from Remi for more than 3 years now. He really enjoys learning guitar every week. Raymond has made it fun, informative, and
professional at the same time. He really cares about his students. I found him very approachable and easy to talk to. He is always willing to work with me to come up the best solution for my son. He encourages my son to do more practice by teaching him how to play his favorite songs. Raymond is the best guitar teacher and I would highly recommend."
"I really enjoyed my lessons with Aidan. He is very knowledgeable about the guitar, a really nice guy, very easy going and it was so nice to take lessons i
n a home rather than a tiny music store studio. He explained things well and gave assignments that were appropriate for my level. Unfortunately I wasn't able to continue due to physical issues. I would recommend him 100%."
"William is not only a guitar teacher, but a great life mentor and friend! I took classical guitar lessons with him while in high school. He is dedicated,
patient, attentive to detail, and kind to his students. He knows how to read students and structure instruction on an individual basis and day to day. He is such an inspiration and a fantastic teacher! I highly recommend taking lessons with William. He is phenomenal!"
"Great first lesson. My daughter was super happy after her lesson with Edwin, and very inspired to practice. Edwin was very polite and patient with her d
uring the lesson. I look forward to seeing her make progress in future lessons."
"Very good teacher, wise and patient, I am learning and happy to do it."
"I really enjoy learning from Dan. He is good at relating things back to a way I can understand and improve. He is so versatile in his music knowledge that
I can litterally throw anything his way that I'm curious about and he points me in the right direction. I've taken guitar, bass, vocal, and even production lessons from Dan. By far the most value I have ever got from an instructor."
