A bit about me: I am a working Chicago actress originally from Indianapolis, IN. I graduated from Ball State University with a B.A. in Acting. For three years I lived in Los Angeles pursuing opportunities in film and television. I am a member of SAG/AFTRA and with the help of my agents and manager, I worked on many t.v. shows including Numbers, Commander and Chief and McBride (starring John Larroquette). After realizing how much I missed being on stage, I moved to New York City. I spent two years performing off Broadway before finally landing i
n Chicago to attend graduate school. In 2013, I earned my M.F.A. in Acting from the Chicago College of Performing Arts at Roosevelt University. Currently, I am Co-Artistic Director and Director of New Works with The Arc Theatre. Additionally, I direct plays for other prominent theatre companies in the city. I am capable of teaching a variety of theatre skills, including classical techniques, performance of literature and speaking voice.
A bit about you: YOU are a new actor, an experienced actor or "getting-back-into-the-swing-of-it" actor. YOU need help with an upcoming camera or theatre audition, choosing new monologues, developing a script, exploring different techniques, or understanding this fantastic business.

Natalie was such a wonderful help in preparing monologues for my college auditions! I didn’t have much experience in auditioning but she helped me gain confidence in the audition room. She even came to my Chicago audition to cheer me on! Thanks to her I got in to my top choice theater school!
I have taught and directed for 30 years in NY and DC. From lesson 1, students engage with a dynamic approach to acting through Meisner-based improv. During the 1st 12 weeks, we go from basic truthful acting to dynamic scene work, followed by 12 weeks of in-depth scene study, then extensive character training and in-depth film and audition technique. My students are successful in film, theater, commercials and TV in DC, NY and LA.
I have taught acting for over 30 years based in the Meisner Technique, and I write and direct my own plays and films. I have years of experience as an actor, jazz saxophone player, singer and poet, as well as a philosophy degree, which I bring to my understanding of acting. I use this rich background to focus on the creativity, intelligence and improvisational abilities of each student in their acting process. I know what it takes to walk into any acting situation ready to play the role. My goal is to create actors who enjoy their work and can act skillfully in film, theater, tv and auditions. I emphasize character work in the program, an important and often neglected part of the acting process. I have cast my advanced students in my original projects in the DC area, and most recently directed my original play, "The Big A: Scenes fro
m a Vanishing Landscape" for the 2014 DC Fringe Festival. I have directed two films: "Adams Morgan: The Movie," which premiered at the Avalon Theater in 2010 and was selected and shown as part of the East of the River Festival in DC; and a short film from my original screenplay titled "Crazy" which is currently in the editing phase. My student Mack Leamon is currently appearing in the Arena Stage production of "Raisin in the Sun" and I am very proud of his accomplishment!
Very knowledgeable & kind. Set good groundwork for my daughter. She really enjoyed it and talked about it all through dinner.

Robert is super easy to talk to and he has great ideas. He leads with passion, curiosity and understanding and opened new worlds to me. Although I was a terrible student, Robert made me realize how much potential I have and now I'm exploring many new things on my own. I'm very tankful!
I've been teaching acting for several years and my students have gone on to pursue film, perform in community and school productions, gotten into college programs, and pursue careers in acting. Within the first few lessons, you'll be able to perform a monologue and as time goes on you'll have a full repertoire of monologues and skills ready to go! I love working with students of all ages and experience levels, and I can't wait to meet you!

Practicing with Vandi improves my skills more quickly than practicing alone and she is very good at not only answering questions via the internet tutoring but through phone as well. She is very prompt and consistent and provides easy to read materials for my skill level. I'm very happy with my purchase through Take Lessons so far. This is my first time using this website and it is my third lesson as I am new to piano. I have already recommended this site to other people.
I am a singer songwriter and actress and have been performing my whole life. I have trained both in theater and most especially in TV work. I studied at the Beverly Hills Playhouse in Los Angeles for two years while I was living there for work.
Hi! I am a singer/songwriter and actress.
I am graduating from Berklee College of Music, after studying at the Frost School of Music at the University of Miami for 3 years (I majored in Music Business with a minor in song writing).
I just moved back to Miami from living in Los Angeles for 2 years to write and record my EP. During my time in LA, I also furthered my training in acting for film and songwriting. I also shadowed videographers in LA and learned how to film and edit videos, which is why I opened a vlog channel to support my music.
I have been performing ever since I was a child. Some of my most important performances include: performing duets with Phil Collins both in Miami and in Switzerland, singing the National Anthem at the Heat Quarterfinals in 2013, being on THE VOICE in Italy, performing my original songs at a Phil C
ollins foundation in Paris, being the opening act for the United Nation's International Year of Youth in New York City, and performing the National Anthem at the Miami Open.
I speak and sing in 3 languages - English, Spanish, and Italian. I am originally from Rome, Italy.
I am completely aware of all musical genres, and especially what is current at the moment. I encourage students to bring in whatever music they feel is best for them and also challenging. Being a songwriter, I persuade students to bring in their own songs (if they write) so that we can work on the songs and most importantly, performing them. My main goal is that students become great performers, while primarily having mastered their technique for their vocal health and longevity.
As a television and theatre actor for 14 years who became an award-winning director and screenwriter, I have a particularly well-rounded perspective on acting. My belief is that anyone can act, if given the right tools, and I have a proven track record -- with actors who have worked with me going on to book major roles in film and television projects. My philosophy is that acting is about exploring yourself -- who you really are as a human being -- and having confidence in that unique individual's perspective on the character. We will also use my expertise on the other side of the camera to explore how to work with directors, as well as the writer's viewpoint on the larger story. I look forward to setting your talents loose on the world!
Hi! I'm a television and theatre actor-turned award-winning director and screenwriter. I've done theatre in New York and all over the world (including touring in "Les Misérables" and being an original cast member of "Heathers: The Musical"), and I've acted in television shows like "Switched at Birth" (ABC Family), "The Good Wife" and "How I Met Your Mother" (CBS).
I moved behind the camera in 2015, and have since directed 3 multi award-winning independent short films, as well as writing original screenplays in various stages of purchase and development for feature film production and primetime television.
I absolutely love to teach and have for many years along the way of my career. I've helped students explore their passion and hone their acting skills in New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, my native Oregon, and even in South Africa.
Many of my students have gone on to book major work in film, cable and broadcast television. I genuinely believe that anyone can act if given the right tools to have confidence in what they uniquely bring to the stage or the set. I look forward to sharing my all-encompassing perspective on acting with you and setting your talent loose on the world!
Zach is a fantastic instructor. He is a true coach, and has an insight into script analysis without all the bull, being able to help you pull the truth out of a scene whilst keeping it simple. Highly recommended.

Zach is a great instructor! He’s very encouraging & gave me great advice/direction as I begin film school. Would definitely recommend!

Zach is perhaps one of the smartest and most well rounded artists I've met. He has experience in all aspects of the business, from being an actor to a producer and to an award winning director, which makes him an unbelievable resource and teacher. I always look forward to our time together because I feel supported, heard, seen and never judged. He is always one step ahead which allows for very productive sessions. I leave our sessions feeling confident and fully prepared for whatever may come my way in auditions. I've worked with many people in this business and you do not come across people like him often. I feel incredibly grateful that I have Zach as a coach and resource. I cannot recommend him enough or give him higher praise.

I am a professional actor, writer, director and acting coach. I graduated from North Carolina Central University with a Bachelors of Art, specifically in Theatre. I am also a graduate of Savannah College of Arts & Design with a Masters of Fine Arts, with a focus on performing arts.
Acting students can expect improve with each class they attend. I teach students to be free and expressive while being on stage. Being free and uninhibited allows the students to not be self conscious and able to fully absorb the acting process. I can help any student to perform with freedom, confidence, and expression.
As a professional actor I get the opportunity to travel throughout the US with my original plays and workshops. I've had the chance to perform in many different venues, from festivals to black box theaters. With getting the chance to be apart
of workshops I get to be trained by other professional actors also. Yep, there is always work to be done
While my ultimate passion is acting, I am a huge advocate of supporting the arts in all capacities. As a performer by nature it is my belief that training is essential to every artist's process. I look forward to sharing my love and passion for acting with you! Let's change the world through the ARTS!!!!
"Julia is great! She is very sweet, nice and is a wonderful coach. Highly recommend!"
"Alex is quick to asses the essence of a scene. This makes her an ideal addition coach. Not only that, but her background in classical theatre really sets
her apart from other coaches I've worked with. She gets tone, she gets, comedy, she gets characters. Alex turned my audition from a flat/static piece to something with depth and charisma. Highly recommend."
"Amelia was one of my first acting teachers and without hesitation I can say that she is the absolute best! She always made sure I got the tools I needed t
o improve my acting by giving me the individual attention I needed. She will go above and beyond to make sure you are challenged in all the right ways. Amelia is passionate, encouraging, and knowledgeable. If you are looking for a teacher with these qualities then you have found her right here!"
"The teacher was able to discern my exact needs, and then focus on those, and create in-the-moment scenes to energize my abilities as well as stimulate my
own ideas in the directions necessary for my development."
"Hunter is a great acting instructor. He is very kind, supportive, and provides honest feedback. I would definetely recommend him to those who wish to impr
ove their acting skills!"
"David was very personable and really helped get my child to open up and she enjoyed her first lesson more than words can describe. I had reservations abo
ut the online platform for teaching, but I was very wrong! I highly recommend David as an acting teacher and I am looking forward to watching my daughter grow!"
"I am a beginner and was pretty nervous. Kim is such an incredibly warm & positive person, she put me at ease immediately. We hit it off from the start.
She gave me not only instruction on acting, but also information about the industry and how-to's on everything from calming my nerves to staying positive in everyday life. Kim definitely knows what she is doing and I am excited for her to take me on the journey of learning to act. I don't think I could have picked a better instructor!"
"Amelia Nickels is and forever will be one of the best acting coaches I've ever had the pleasure of studying under. I've come across many of coaches who ty
pically only push their favorite style or method of acting and that be it and if it doesn't agree with you the result will always be tragic. Ms. Nickels worked with me hand in hand to push out some of my best and most emotional pieces ever. Her years of experience have taught her all the tricks of the trade to push you and the product; whether it be introducing a silent character into your monologue to get a more physical and visceral reaction out of you or having you run continuously back and forth in a room to help control your breathing and pace, she has it all. She cares about her craft and more so she cares about her students who just may get so lucky as to call her friend. Not to mention I once auditioned for an NBC casting representative, John Ort (yeah that guy), who saw Amelia Nickels' name on my resume and had the most glowing things to say about her. I'm not saying her connections will land you on John Ort's Modern Family (which I hear he won awards for that casting) but what I am saying is that even after half a decade from training with her her tutelage still carries with me on every script I memorize, commercial copy I tackle, or sides I inflect (I'm not sure that's a word). She's the Vince Lombardi of acting coaches, the Julia Childs of teaching techniques, she's the single best acting decision I've ever made."
"David has been my coach for the past 5 yrs. I booked a 5 year recurring on days of our lives through David's coaching along with many other jobs. I fee
l David's approach to coaching is unique where he really got to know me as an actor and brings the best out in me. He will always be my coach!"
Professional actors often can’t help but feel a little powerless when it comes to the process of auditioning and booking jobs. Sure, from the outside people think that actors have some say in creative aspects, but your input and personal preferences are really quite insignificant in the process (well, not until you're on a Brangelina level at least). So while you're on your way to superstardom, it's smart to leverage the opportunities at hand.
The first area you have control of as an actor is …
